The PGA Tour Champions starts its 2026 season this week and in a familiar place.
For the 30th straight time, the senior circuit opens its year at Hualalai Golf Course with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai.
It’s a tournament of champions, with 42 winners from last season set to tee it up, Jan. 22-24.
“We look forward to celebrating our 30th anniversary at Hualalai next week and welcoming these 42 players to the Big Island,” said Tournament Manager Kelly Fliear. “The Four Seasons Hualalai provides a breathtaking backdrop for the Champions Tour’s season opener, and we are excited to continue that tradition in 2026.”
Of the 42, eight of them have won this event before, including two three-time winners in Bernhard Langer (2009, 2014, 2017) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (2015, 2020, 2022). The other past champs are Ernie Els, Fred Funk, Jerry Kelly, Tom Lehman, Darren Clarke and Steven Alker.
The also includes Vijay Singh, who will make the trip over after island hopping to the big island from Oahu, where he made the cut in the PGA Tour’s Sony Open in Hawaii.
There will be seven first-timers playing Hualalai in 2026: Steve Allan, Thomas Bjorn, Angel Cabrera, Tommy Gainey, Richard Green, Freddie Jacobson and Boo Weekley. Other notables include 2025 Charles Schwab Cup winner Stewart Cink, David Duval, Jim Furyk, Justin Leonard and Mike Weir.
