Brutally Honest JUMBOMAX Grip 2 Month Review – BIG CHANGES!
Using the FullSwing Kit launch monitor has transformed both my game and my content! Check it our for yourself here – https://fullswingemea.com/pages/james-robinson
I've recently changed to SuperStroke Oversize Cross Comfort grips. I know, they're not Jumbo max. I do really like them. I have arthritis getting worse in my hands. The bigger grips help a great deal with my hands. I do enjoy the benefits of everything else you have discussed also!
I’d like to add that if you are installing these grips yourself, try to use thinner tape and lots of solvent or mineral spirits. They go on snug for sure.
I tried them and found that they kept me from releasing the club more than I was , which is one of the problems I have, because when I first started playing I had a terrible slice so I picked up the bad habit of holding off my release
I’ve been using oversized grips – Jumbo Max and Wynn – for a number of years and found them very beneficial though had to try various sizes to get to the optimum. I’ve ended up with different size grips on different clubs, in particular with large straight Jumbo Max on my wedges as they provide great control. I started with the ordinary Jumbo Max on Woods and irons; they completely threw out the swing weight and balance of the clubs so I switched to the lite versions. You might waste a few grips but it’s definitely worth testing different ones to find out what works for you.
I’ve played these Ultralight grips for 5 or 6 Seasons now, couldn’t go back. With the Driver and these grips, I like the driver to set a little open. I use the ultralights in everything except the driver, in the driver I use the Comfort Wrap Jumbomax, I just fell like I can go after it harder with that on the driver.
I've been using the white grips on my graphite irons, and ultralites on my driver and hybrids for 2 years now. I'll never change now, ive improved so much, and much more consistent. I love them 😄👌🏽
What size jumbo max pls
James, are you still working with that electronic swing trainer that monitors your wrist angles?
Your ball striking was really good there for a while when you were doing those videos.
You have to try the JumboMax Zen Lite on your driver and woods. Game changer!
I've been using the jumbomax zen lite, standard jumbo size on all my woods and absolutely love them
Got lamkin sonar midsize on mine. Grips are just crazy expensive now can't justify 150+ for a set of these no matter how good.
Experimenting with one on my driver (G440 LST) finding them amazing keeping my hands loosey goosey without feeling like the clubs going to fly out my hands down range.
I'm finding they stop me closing the face too much when I put the brakes on my hands coming into contact to create the whip/double pendulum release I've been working on.
Feels like I can never hit it left with it on there so can just go ham without risking a duck hook.
But my god does the ball go right into the next postcode if I grip too tight!!
I put the Golf Pride Tour Velvet Jumbo on my driver a couple of months ago. It made a massive difference to accuracy, I could feel exactly where the grip was compared to set up so I could really feel where the club face was pointing all the way through the swing.
But for me there was a downside, I lost a bit of ball speed and therefore distance. Maybe 10 yards at most. I then checked the grip weights, the Jumbo was 11g heavier. So I stuck 3g of lead tape on the driver and the ball speed increased. I may add another 3g of lead tape and see what happens.
What I would like to see is how the grips helped or hindered bunker shots – but we need better weather and bunkers which are not flooded
I was thinking about JumboMax grips for a long time because of arthritis in my hands really making the days after a round difficult and I'd heard they'd help. I never got around to regripping my clubs. It wasn't until I wanted to replace my irons and saw a set of cavity back irons in my specs for sale used that happened to have them on that I figured that was a great chance. Love them and now have them on all my clubs. I will say that the drive does pose slightly different challenge to adjust and I still struggle a bit with straight blocks to the right, but when I really focus on face control, I can hit long straight drives, too, it's just not as automatic as the irons were.
I’m opposite, love them on the driver and all woods/hybrids because for my miss is rolling over to much, pulling it to the left. The longer the club. The more I tend to do that so these took that away completely. I used size small, which is still much bigger than standard oversize or jumbo grips.
I’ve tried them a few times on my irons. Usually use a mid size golf pride mcc4. I can’t get used to them with my irons no matter how long I left them on. Everyone’s different though! These are pricey, so don’t make my mistake snd make sure you try one first and make sure.
Wow not a game changer and who really cares about the full swing monitor…….oh yeah nobody
Try the black tour grip on your driver. It counterbalances the shaft. You will not believe it.
I use ultralite jumbo max size xs on my driver and woods and hybrids. Never tried them on irons.
BIG CHANGE OR BIG MISTAKE!!!?
😂😂😂😂💀
I love my jumbomax large, i am 183cm and large footjoy glove, tried XL, it felt ok, but when speed training, it ended up feeling too big, whereas Large my fingertips just barely touch my palm of my hand. I can swing 100 times at full speed at driving range without hand grip getting tired like the XL. I'd consider tying a medium, but right now L are having a run. Only thing about these grips, are really slippery in wet conditions. FootJoy Rain gloves are my all year round glove, so, when it rains, i don't loose grip, prior to rain glove, on par 5 tee shot in medium rain, driver flew from my hands about 30m down the fairway, so slippery. Apparently the newer green model jumbomax are better for moist conditions.
When I did my on line fitting for my Takomo Golf irons 101T they suggested mid size grips. When I tried them out for the first time I was like wow why haven’t I tried them years ago. It definitely helps with keeping the face square at impact.
Got Ultralite on all my clubs for well over a year….best thing I ever did..especially on my Wilson Driver and my R7 Mini….try Standard on them…you won't lose distance…you will gain distance and accuracy 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
u need aVODA clubs for them to work haha
Is there anything to the size of your hands?
I'm sold on the jumbomax grips. I had to experiment plenty 1st though. Ended up with the zen light standard size.
