Still in the process of my full DIY building my 20×26 barn into a golf sim/home theater – having issues with placement and type of lighting. Would hexagon rgb lights (pic 4)work here? Or what kind of lighting would y’all recommend?
The padding and everything is definitely a pain in the ass too – using carpet bonded foam (pic 5) for the walls/ceiling/flooring outside the hitting mat since I had a hook up to get it dirt cheap. Can’t figure out if I should mount it in large pieces, or cut them into smaller pieces for aesthetics.
Aka – someone please help me with ideas for what lighting to use (led circle lights, hexagon rgb as in the picture, recessed lights, etc…) for the remaining portion I had AI create an image (pic 6) of what I had in mind, so trying to sort out how to make it all mesh together

Dimmable is a great place to start, but it all depends on the brightness of your projector. If it’s under 3,000 lumens, the room will have to be fairly dark to have a crisp clean image. If it’s over 5,000 lumens, lighting begins to not be as much of a factor as the screen will clear and visible in most normal light. My projector is 3500 and is usable with lights on but much clearer with the lights dimmed. If you go with a projector that is less bright and will be dimming the lights significantly, I recommend a spotlight pointed straight down above where the golf ball will be placed. These are inexpensive and controlled by a similar remote as your hexagon lights. I like the idea of the carpet padding, that will work well. Do you have a projector and impact screen picked out yet? I would start there so you can calculate where it will be mounted and build around it.
