Damn ….. I miss the Old WCHA Rivalries !! I'm a Gopher Guy myself !! But back in the Day that was THE Premier Conference in All of College Hockey !! Back in '04/'05 Season the NATIONAL FROZEN FOUR was as follows, Seeding is to the Best of my Recollection
1 – Denver Pioneers
2- UND Fighting Sioux
3 – Minnesota Golden Gophers
4 – Colorado College Tigers
That my Friend is Conference Dominance at its FINEST !! I have No Idea if that had ever happened before, but I'm pretty sure that it hasn't happened since !! That would be like an All SEC Final Four in Football 🏈 this Year !! Or better yet an All ACC Final Four in Basketball 🏀 back in the Day !! Oh Yeah as Far as Old School WCHA goes you can't Sleep on the UMD Bulldogs 🐶 or Those Damn Badgers 🦡 from the University of Wisconsin !! Plus Michigan Tech & Northern Michigan from the U.P. !! Damn Youpers !! Then later I believe the University of Alaska at Anchorage !! Hell I forgot about the Huskies of St. Cloud State !! That would have been BLASPHEMOUS considering that Herb Brooks brought them into a Relevant Program at the D-1 Level !! And Mr. Brooks is on The Mount Rushmore of Hockey in the State of Minnesota which is, as you know is referred to as "The State of Hockey 🏒 " !! I miss going to Gophers Hockey games at The Old Barn , AKA Williams Arena !! The Newer Mariucci Arena is BEAUTIFUL , but lacks the Character of the Old Barn IMO !! PEACE ✌️ OUT ✌️ !!😮😮!!
To me, as a kid, a kid from Philly btw, Mario was a god. No one could tell me that Wayne Gretzky was a better hockey player. I might still believe that now tbh but Mario was just so big yet graceful. He was unreal
