2026 Golf Course Openings We’re Excited About | Designing Golf
It’s the new year, so we’re looking ahead. First, Garrett talks about whether modern golf architecture is running low on fresh ideas. Then he is joined by his Fried Egg Golf colleague to discuss six (or, by the end of their conversation, seven) course openings they’re excited about in 2026.

Do you see a growing shift for new builds and renovations that focus on using turf types that require less maintenance; namely water, fertilizer, pesticide and equipment use? If so, which architects are seen as leaders in this area?
Hi guys I have been following your channel for a while and have heard little / nothing on safe course design. I wrote the course design guidance for the PGA OF Great Britain and Ireland based on worldwide research. This was done because of the increasing number of accidents on courses. An idea to discuss?
Something you said about 'does a bunker even need sand' reminded me that I have to play Reservoir Creek in the Finger Lakes outside of Rochester. Great reviews, looks awesome. Tons of grass bunkers. Really think it would be interesting to see the course be analyzed by an architecture enthusiast. I haven't even played it yet but have it on good authority that it is worth the trip. Just shy of 2 hours from me, I think I will finally make the drive in April or May.
I got to play Yale in September of '23 right before they closed for the renovation. Your video on the Scale of Yale was my inspiration to make the trip up. I got paired with an alumni who was involved in the planning of the restoration. He told me he grew up in town and used to sneak onto the course with his older brother. It was like having a walking guided tour.
I'm hoping to be able to play it in '26, I daydream about that place nonstop
Andrew Green is redesigning the North Course at Olympia Fieds. Renderings look very cool.
