In todays video I take a look at the new PXG Lightning 11 wood, this could be the best club to have in your bag in 2026 for average golfers

  1. C'mon now Andy Kirean is right. Mix it up a bit. Tell us about Mizuno, what's with the chrome /nickel compared to the true forged; same with Apex, better staying with the same club forged or newer composition. Thanks you do a great job, one of the very few pros starting out in the field with your merch demos. Love the golf courses, no matter where they are. It means a lot to us when you are out there taking the time to really embody the demo.
Have a great Xmas to you and your family.

  2. That was interesting, I have tried a 9w before but never an 11w. Based on Andy's numbers it looks like it would in my hands launch like my 8i, have a descent angle equivalent to my 8i but have a carry around a good 5i (not that I am quite hitting my 5i that well). A 5i that stops very quickly would be a weapon into long par 4s and shorter par 5s. Personally I am concerned that it flies too high for me, however, if I decide to drop my 5i it is definitely worth a try although I would probably look at a 5 hybrid first

  3. Another awesome looking club form PXG. Massive help for the older folk that for sure. How would that compare to the 5 hybrid you were hitting the other day in terms of ease of use? Similar distances if I remember rightly

  4. I am.a high speed speed player and I love these high lofted woods.
I play up to 8 different words throughout the season.
    Driver-5.5*
    Mini -11.5*
    3 wd-13.5*
    5 wd-18*
    7 wd-22.5*
    9 wd-27*
13 wd-31* There is nothing like hitting a high lofted fairway wood and landing it soft on the green and biting like a pw.

  5. I thinking of getting the cobra ds adapt max fairway 9 wood will be 24.5 degrees of loft so I can all so move it up by 2 degrees would be close to a 11 wood

  6. Curious ! I played recently with a chap at my Course.
I use a 1/2 set of Eleven hybrids 5,7,9,G plus normal Driver and 56* Wedge + Mallet putter !
He had a full set of Woods and a normal Wedge and 2 Ball Putter plus an Odyssey Chipper !
These were Thomas Woods and they were very good on the course across a lot of distances !
He put them to good use and had a nice controlled swing !
Here we were enjoying a lovely day before the weather closed in.
We were both using Easy to hit clubs and both having fun and getting the ball more or less into the right spots to chip and putt !
Ok other " better" golfers may use different equipment and look at us with curiosity ?
Who cares ? – enjoy your golfing when you are at a certain age !
    Those Thomas clubs were really
lovely quaint and individual – never saw them before – but it seems they must be inspiring more modern manufacturers to produce clubs for older or beginner golfers – great news !

  7. Andy I am suggesting that with your club reviews you include dispersion..both fore and aft and left to right. This data is critical especially with this #24 wood you are reviewing ::)..Is the dispersion as good for you as the 6 iron for example? or some hybrid? That might be useful to know.

  8. Many years ago, Callaway introduced the Ely Wood, an 11' wood. IMO, a 9-wood would be a better alternative.

  9. Options. We need options! Love it and love PXG. They make golf FUN. I’m excited to get into PXG to test the new lineup. See how all stacks against my current gamers. I love options.

  10. I’ve been playing a full set of golf clubs from Eleven golf for over a year. I also use a TM mini driver. This type of set up is the way to go for me. Being older I think I only need about 7 clubs now but id like to get fitted properly so the gapping is right for me. Maybe i should come over to the Uk as the fitting options over there are far more varied than here.

  11. An eleven wood – looks great – but hard to determine between an 11 wood and a 6 hybrid – 11 may just be a step to far at the moment good thing is in a year 18 months we will see more of these available through the used section – the only dilemma is getting the bag set-up correctly 👍

  12. I got an 11-wood this year, but I still don't know what to make of it. I hit it just fine, but it the opportunities to use it outside of the range have been limited.

  13. I'm out PXG and other manufacturers are just too expensive. This club will cost over $400 with tax four one fairway wood. I have been buying clubs from direct consumer brands like Haywood. Tacoma a lot cheaper and good quality and also the second hand used market. There's good stuff out there that slightly used at fractions of the cost.

  14. I just added a 7 and 9 wood to my bag this year and it helped cut 4 to 5 strokes off my game. I’ll try an 11 wood after your review. Thanks. These woods are game changers for us older guys!

  15. Good stuff! Yeah, I have a 9W and use hybrid irons for the same reasons (height/distance control). My 5/6h would be similar distances to 9/11w so not needed in my bag. Prefer less clubs that I can hit consistently VS having 14 clubs involved. For my home course (ANGC-Pete Dye course) hitting higher and more accurate shots can help keep you in the fairway. Love the hybrid irons. 👍

  16. Tour edge x525 have 9 wood and 11 wood, don't see much difference in it for me. So have 11 wood in my guest bag. Have tour edge x525 driver 15 degrees, 5 wood 20 degrees, 9 wood 25 degrees, 11 wood 27 degrees….carry 6 hybrid instead 28 degrees then to 8 iron at 33 degrees then 9i, pw,gw,sw. Seems to gap nicely in my bag. Do have chipper hiding in bag too. Driver goes to high at 15 degrees so swap out with Callaway 12.5. don't have a problem with loft getting balls up there just problem now with lofted clubs going to high.

  17. I have a tour edge E521 11 wood. If I swing it well it is awesome. If not, well-i know who to blame. Often i get an odd ball flight-starts on a slightly high trajectory, then the spin (my guess) drives it up a to a HIGH peak, then it dies and drops out of the sky. I have had it stop in not more than two feet (60cm) on a fairly soft green. I love it. Thanks for this review Andy.

  18. Stigma be damned, I love my fairway woods. I’m not good enough to justify having a golf ego. The 5 7 9 and 11 woods I carry are non negotiables as far as I’m concerned. I need help and I’m not afraid to utilise equipment that does the best it can for me. It’s all about results and confidence. I look forward to hitting these clubs and dread hitting their iron equivalents so it turns out better more often (or at least less terrible) as a consequence. Yes, can be tricky in windy conditions with the launch height, but I’d do no better with the iron counterpart, and probably much worse and being able to use them in less than ideal lies on the course is another advantage. I expect the maintenance staff are happier I’m not leaving massive craters in their course as well. Thanks Andy!

  19. Loft is king, so love seeing all these options for people that might prefer an FW over a Hybrid once they hit the longest iron they can play consistently well.

  20. great review andy, contemplating putting a 9 wood in and possibly an 11 wood.i know its winter but would haved loved seeing you hit them 2 clubs on the course

  21. I like my 7 wood, I get a solid 200 yds and am able to hold greens with it but my next club is my 5 hybrid which I love and am even a little more confident and consistent with for a solid 185 yards and excellent landing angle! 6H is also money as well! I’m a golfer in my late 50’s and am really transitioning to lofted woods/hybrids.

  22. I have played a 26 degree loft Callaway Steelhead II 11 wood since 1998. A fine club. Dead straight, high trajectory, 160 yards. Let the guys chunking irons scoff.

  23. all hybrids would be great but at those prices WOW how does the PXG Lightning 470 ( Canadian ) 375 HEROS price each compare to the ELEVEN's hybrid irons at 166 ( Canadian ) each besides a big difference in price do the ELEVEN's hold their own with the PXG Hybrids ? thx a bunch great video cheers be well and be safe Merry Christmas

  24. I spent time at PXG this weekend and had a chance to "try" the 11 Wood. The very first swing intrigued me. As you said in the video, it was surprising how close in distance it went to my 9 Wood (PXG Black Ops). The next swing was even better results. The 3rd swing is what made the club go from "try" to "buy immediately." I didn't need another swing after the 3rd. I am a high swing speed player, and with my Ventus Black it went 230 yards…stopped on a dime…and had a peak height of 154 feet!!! Having a club like that in my bag is pure insanity. That's why I have ordered a Green Goblin headcover for it. I couldn't think of a better headcover to express how I feel about this club.😂

  25. I have had the cobra speedzone 3 and 5 woods and Ltdx 7 wood all with the glide rails for years now and would swap them for anything. I hope Cobra brings a 11 wood at 28 deg with the glide rails, otherwise I will by the lightning 11 wood once price drops.
