Break 40 Chequers Golf Club
A scorching day at Chequers Golf Club and another Break 40 attempt.
This one had everything — some genuinely great shots mixed in with a too many big numbers. Momentum swinging hole to hole, emotions all over the place… a proper rollercoaster of a round.
Can I keep it together long enough to finally break 40, or does the heat and pressure get the better of me?
Let me know in the comments — would you take the great shots if it meant a few blow-ups along the way?

Hot day. Big swings. Zero chill. 😅
This round summed up golf perfectly — flashes of quality followed by instant punishment.
Question for you 👇
Would you rather:
• Play steady and boring
• Or ride the rollercoaster and take the highs with the lows?
Gravey, I find you very entertaining, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, waiting for the day when you have the round of your life.
I was with my dad when he made his first ever hole in one on the Par 3 8th here at Chequers. An unforgettable moment for me and especially for him at 67 years old 💪🏻
I love this course its a great country track and in Winter when its quiet you can get in 18 holes in 2 to 3 hours. Tiny greens tight fairways in spots and you have to give the putt like 20 percent more than usual they are slow and don't break a lot. I played it a week ago and shot a 91 was devo not too break 90. Its a tough little track once you leave the fairway.
Chequers is tough! such a punishing course.
Good video mate, that takeaway is qooked
Chequers does that to you. I play there a lot. I’ve been in good form recently, 9 rounds in a row at other courses in the low to mid 80’s, played at Chequers and hit 93. It’s tough.
I wouldn’t watch that
I really enjoy it as it’s a thinking man’s golf course. Unless you want to take driver over trees and play different shot shapes you’ve really got to think your way through holes. I’ve had my best ever round there of 80 and then played it two weeks later and shot 99! 😂 also got through 18 holes with the old man once in just over 2 hours!
I know how you feel… I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue 🙁
Love Chequers! Play it all the time as its so quiet and peaceful during the week
very tough course, long and tight, played years ago – should go back. certainly a roller coaster, think you need to warm up more:) 47 the score to beat.
Great content Gravy. I have a question. Do you play better golf when you aren’t filming 🤔🤔
i feel you need a smidge more weight over your toes with your swing. your feet are swirling, and your coming out of it.
I love how courses like this with super narrow fairways, tiny greens, and brutal punishment if you miss your target by a tiny margin, BUT are not expensive places or intensely manicured, always have super soft ratings. Par 71, Scratch Rating 71, Slope 117. I'd be curious to see the actual nature of visitor scores to courses around the country.
I have a love/hate relationship with golf. But I can't tell if I hate how much I love it, or if I love how much I hate it.
Should tee off with the 8 iron. Hitting it sweetly.
Tough one, mate. Perspective though, at least you’re out there golfing with good mates.
2m offline at most courses here (Okinawa Japan) is in thick jungle. Narrow fairways, usually very sloping, a couple meters of rough at best between fairway and jungle. Not forgiving at all. Probably shorter tracks here though
Headed out tomorrow morning and looking forward to a potential high-70’s (been trending)… or a 90-something. My game has always been a rollercoaster. Makes the good rounds feel that much better though!
Cheers
Checkmate at Chequers, or some other lame dad joke/pun. Good one, Dave!
Cheers Gravox, have you thought of doing a video on – playing out of different situations with different clubs to see what actually works eg off a bare lie trying to keep it low under a limb, try a 5 iron or a 6/7 off the back and punch it low, that's only one example there are heaps of other scenarios, ie different bunker lies, different grass types, behind trees, high shot over a close tree, the list is endless, the videos could be in the shorts to build up the side of the content, then do a quick summary to say Yah or Nay on what worked, hope that makes sense?
Always watching Gravy 👀
Not blaming the punters for a sh*t shot 😂
My man Tom squeezing inthe B roll! 😂😂
One of the first courses I played when I moved to WA from Vic back in the 90’s. Got my ball marker yesterday too thanks mate.
