Georgia has hundreds of golf courses, but the private ones run by resorts are particular standouts. Last week, Golfweek identified the best of the best, ranking the top 200 in America.

The list was determined by the members of Golfweek’s course-ratings panel which continually evaluate courses and rate them based on 10 criteria. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings on each course are averaged to produce a final, cumulative rating. This list focuses on the courses themselves, not the resorts as a whole or other amenities. 

What are Georgia’s best resort golf courses?

Three Georgia resort golf courses made it into the top 100 on the list: Seaside Golf Course at Sea Island Resort in Sea Island at No. 24, the Keep at McLemore Resort in Rising Fawn at No. 25, and Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro in a three-way tie for No. 73 with courses in Massachusetts and Washington.

Sea Island is a privately owned, seaside resort island in Glynn County and is part of the Golden Isles which includes St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. The resort itself is about 10 miles east of Brunswick.
