Iron loft is one of the most misunderstood parts of golf equipment.
In this video, I test the TaylorMade Qi Max irons (28°) against a traditional blade (34°) to see what actually happens when you hit real shots. Same golfer. Same swing. Real ball data.
This isn’t a spec-sheet argument or a marketing breakdown. It’s a simple test looking at ball speed, launch, peak height, spin, carry distance, and stopping power to answer a question golfers argue about constantly.
Does stronger loft actually change performance the way people think it does?
If you’ve ever been told modern irons are “jacked,” that blades are more pure, or that loft tells the whole story, this test will challenge that thinking.

I don't think you have the shot-shaping ability with a game improvement iron as you do with a player's iron.

Now they just need to start making them look good. Not sure why they have to have to make them so ugly. P790 shows how popular making better looking club is. Do that with your GI irons I bet you sell heaps more. Keep it simple and clean looking people will be happy
Can you get your hands on the new Cobra MB?
I wish these pitch men would stop with the SGII nonsense. Mis-stamped 5 irons spin like 5 irons and have a massive north/south dispersion.
We all know these clubs are for fragile ego men that need to hit a 7 iron 150 with 70mph swing speed.
A 190 yard 7 iron is useless to a good player. Needing 5 wedges seems pointless.
Brandon, big fan of your content and merch. 1. I think OEM's do a disservice by calling them game improvement…I've seen Srixon use the term player development which may be less off pudding. 2. I think anyone who has a handicap of 15 or greater could benefit from this genre of irons. 3. Golf is a very difficult sport and so many variables can be the difference between having a good day or a bad day on the course. The hope is to enjoy your time on the course and the best way to do this is by striking the ball well and scoring low. Why wouldn't you want all the tech possible to help your game? Sure you can't shape your shots well with this genre of irons but you will develop better skills that will ultimately improve your game so you can get into player distance irons. 4. I also believe the conversation needs to be had with 50-60% of golfers that the need to check their ego. Most in this category should be playing regular flex, not stiff or xstiff. Just my $.02. Thanks for your great content!
