Buy the NEW Takomo Irons here: http://takomogolf.com/YHG7263TH

Rick Shiels puts the brand-new 2026 Takomo irons through their paces on H.I.T Golf, including the redesigned 101 MKii, 201 MKii and 201T MKii. He breaks down the new looks, feel and performance of each model, compares them for different handicaps, and gives his honest verdict on whether these direct-to-consumer irons are worth putting in the bag.

Welcome to H.I.T Golf Reviews – the home of honest, independent and trustworthy golf equipment reviews.

If you want straight-talking advice on drivers, irons, wedges, putters, golf balls and golf tech, you’re in the right place. Every review is based on proper testing, launch monitor data and real on-course experience – not marketing slides.

We test all the big names (TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Cobra and more) plus the direct-to-consumer brands you’re starting to hear about. New vs old, budget vs premium, “forgiving” vs “players” – we put them head-to-head so you can see what actually performs.

Our testing is built around launch monitor data (GCQuad) and real-world shots, but we always explain the numbers in normal-golfer language. No fluff, no hidden agendas – just whether a club will help your game or not.

Whether you’re:
buying your first proper set,
a mid-handicapper looking for more forgiveness, or
a low-handicap player chasing that perfect combo of feel and distance,

H.I.T is here to help you pick the right gear for your swing, not just the newest thing on the shelf.

Why H.I.T exists:
To cut through the hype.
To give golfers the truth.
To save you time, money and a few golf balls.
To make the game a bit easier – and more fun.

  1. Oooh, the one who sent the rusty iron is getting cooked right now 🤯😅 Anyway, for anybody worried about it, that is a manufacturing defect that warranty will cover 100%

  2. Im really between the old 101s and the MKii, i prefer the look of the old ones and they are a bit cheaper too, however i have not found a direct comparison between the two anywhere. Would you consider the consistency and feel to be upgraded on the MKii to be the deciding factor?

  3. Price seems to jump quite a lot no? Looks to me like I should get the 101Ts before they change the line-up. In CAD that's like a 300$ dollar jump to the 201Ts.

  4. Not sure if you mention it in the video, but I am curious to know which shafts you are using on each iron. I am looking to buy a set but never really sure which shafts to pair with it.

  5. I agree with Rick calling out the new 101’s looking more generic. I feel the old ones stood out a bit more and had more bagappeal. The placement of the modelname also seems off on the new 101’s.
It’s a bit of a hit and miss in my opinion :/

  6. Detailed reviews like this are exactly what golfers need when new equipment drops. Clean looks, solid feel, and a breakdown that actually explains who these irons are for, not just how far they go. Great job highlighting the differences across the lineup 👌⛳️

  7. The peak height of the 201T 5 iron is strange, it being so much higher than the 7 and PW is weird. Swing is looking nice and I don’t know if the strike sound is added but it sounded nice.

  8. So let me get this right, they are made with the same materials, but as the heads get smaller, the less material used, the piece goes up… am I missing something?

  9. I love the idea of buying a set of the original clubs, but I can’t wrap my head around not having a try first. One day they’ll be in the shops and I’ll be all over them.
