I Hit a Golf Ball Across an Entire City
Welcome back to the Random Golf Club channel. Today we’re doing something that we’ve never done before. In all likelihood, it’s something that nobody has ever done before. Using only golf clubs, I’m going to transport this golf ball from the eastern city limits of Austin, Texas, all the way to the western city limits. It’s a treacherous route across rivers and highways, navigating trails and urban drainage channels, and even playing some real golf whenever we come across it. All while doing our absolute best to avoid damaging property or injuring ourselves or others. >> Oh, street golf in this fashion allows you to see your own city in ways you never have before. It doesn’t require tremendous amount of golf skill, but there is a certain finesse needed for this very niche take on the sport. >> Oh my god. Oh my god. Our route features over 20 m of city streets, pedestrian bridges, bike paths. >> Oh yeah, getting some bad lies today. >> Hiking trails, and parkland. If we’re able to complete this mission, I’m very confident that we’ll be the first people to ever move a golf ball from one side of a city to the other using only golf clubs. Before we get started, there are a few rules we’re going to follow. One, at no point can I advance the ball using anything other than a golf club. Two, if a ball is unplayable, it is dropped and a penalty stroke is added. Three, if we pass any golf courses along the way, I must [music] play at least one hole before moving on. And the fourth and final rule, which gives me a tremendous amount of stress, is that I’m limited to one dozen [music] golf balls to make my journey. This may sound like a lot, but given the obstacles that lay ahead of us, this is no easy task. Wish me luck. This video is brought to you by Bonovos. Peter, how many shots do you think it’s going to take ever to get across Austin? I’d put it somewhere in the 3 to 5,000 territory. >> Whenever we started planning this, I really wanted to make a goal for myself for how many shots it would take. Then you like quickly realized you’re there’s no way to determine that. >> This is the clicker that we’ll be using for every single shot. So, I’m going to have to be on my game today with the clicker. >> All right, team on three. >> [laughter] >> Peter, come on. You got to be excited about it. >> I am excited. I’m just nervous. We got to get a golf ball across Austin. How are we going to do it? >> All right. We’re at the Rodeo Austin grounds. And my goal today is to hit this golf ball across Austin. I honestly don’t know if it’s even possible. We have Peter today. He’s our main navigator. Also, our shot counter. We have Hunter. He’s the eyes of the operation. He’s going to make sure that any shot we hit, we’re going to be able to find again. Our goal is to do it in two days. This is the beginning of day one. It’s easy as can be. So, we have 12 golf balls in the bag today and that’s all we have. So, we have to be very, very cautious about how we make these [music] plays cuz like losing one of our 12 balls within the first mile of the challenge would be heartbreaking. For the first quarter mile or so, there’s plenty of grass to work with. So, even if I hit a poor shot, it [music] likely won’t go into traffic. >> 5 minutes in, how many shots you think you’ve taken? >> 24. >> 21. >> Okay. >> Yeah, >> not so bad. We should all pick a number. >> Okay. 3,333 for me. >> 2256. >> 3500. >> 3737. >> Shot number 22. In less than a mile, we needed to cross the street and we faced our first busy intersection. I was about to get a taste of what the rest of the day would look like. >> If it does something crazy, I’ll stop it though. Like if it’s like going towards the >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Good call. >> All right, Hunter. You ready? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> All right, I’m going. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. No. >> Just let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Okay. Yeah. Holy [ __ ] dude. Beforehand, I did just didn’t understand the stress that I would be in just around cars and I essentially have to pretend that they don’t exist. >> After a somewhat successful intersection crossing, it was time for the first full swing of the day. >> Hey, get ready. Get ready. After this truck, >> we had to wait until there were no cars coming and then I went for it. >> Oh, dude. >> Great shot. >> That’s so lost. >> No way. >> Oh, let’s go. >> Let’s go. Fantastic. >> And after doing bump and runs for over a mile, this felt great. >> The first scuff of the day, that was a cool shot. That was I’m psyched about that. That was awesome. >> I thought that he had hit it like way too far. I mean, it’s really hard to see like proportionately how far these are compared to like actually hitting a shot on a golf course. >> As it started to get warmer, the layers came off. >> This video is brought to you by Bonovos. They were kind enough to send us a bunch of stuff. When I first started playing golf, I was watching a golf tournament and I saw >> Justin Rose >> and he was wearing Bonobos’s pants and I bought his entire outfit and that was my introduction to Bonobos. So, that was kind of the first golf gear I ever wore. So, it’s really cool just coming back full circle and uh you know, I get to wear them again. So, thanks Bonobos for making this video possible. Let’s get across the street. We’re about 100 shots in. You know, I’ve played a full round of bad golf so far. >> Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Oh, bike leg. Come on. >> BIKE. >> LET’S GO. >> LET’S GO. >> LET’S GO. >> Let’s go. >> Uneven surfaces like this, I need to be a bit more careful. >> Yeah, for sure. >> Yeah. >> Oh boy. >> Oh man. I’m about to attempt the longest shot yet. And probably the longest shot of this entire route. Nice. Oh god, I regret that immediately. >> Longest shot of the day. >> Without a doubt. The longest shot of the day. This is like the first shot where I like I truly was not expecting uh that result to happen, >> you know? I hope there’s not like a sewage. There’s some sort of opening up here, though. I’m curious where it’s going to go. >> It’s still going. >> What? >> Stay in the crack. Stay in the lines. >> Oh, we’re up on the sidewalk. >> Wa! >> We’re up on the sidewalk. That’s crazy. I mean, that couldn’t have gone any better. >> I’m starting to realize how tough this challenge is when I don’t have grass to work with. The ball simply [music] does not stop on concrete. Got a school bus coming. Get God damn it. Don’t hit it. Don’t hit it. Don’t hit it. Don’t hit it. >> I’m stressed out. >> Yeah, >> I’m stressed. >> That was crazy. Price is a vert. We’re through it. >> Yeah, we’re through it. Okay, >> number check. We’re at 202. And this is just where the like the busy road urban part of the challenge is like is tough. >> But eventually I start to get the hang of it. We pass through a gas station parking lot. And at this point we’re about half a mile away from the next leg of our route. Trails scouts log number one. We’re about to >> All right. Hunter, watch it. Watch it. Might be a problem. Might be great. Be great. >> Whoa. How did that happen? Okay. So, we’re going to wait until there’s no cars coming that way and we can’t see any cars cresting the hill and then I’m going to hit the shot. >> I’ll watch you. How do you >> Sounds like a plan. My scouting log was interrupted a little bit. Um Keer’s about to hit it over this fourlane road into Walnut Creek, but um right now the first obstacle is actually making it over. Okay. Incoming. Oh, car car. Maybe it’s findable. Maybe it’s gone forever. I might have to jump a fence. Okay, >> did you just lose your first golf ball? >> I don’t I don’t know. Can you see it or no? >> Yes. >> No, I didn’t lose my first damn golf ball. Pete, >> go. This is turning into uh Can you do it in one golf ball? Yeah. [laughter] >> Yeah. Okay. The contrast between the busy street and the southern Walnut Creek Trail was pretty jarring. If I could do the entire route here, I would. >> Now we’re on trails and there doesn’t seem to be a ton of people around. >> Oh wow. >> That’s it. That’s it. >> Wow. Hey, >> this guy’s unconscious right now. [laughter] >> At this point in the journey, there’s one thing I can definitively say. Despite the cars, despite the stress, I’m actually having a good time. I wasn’t sure if this would be fun. You know, I feel like we’re deep enough in the challenge to [music] where like I can have a like a accurate judgment of if this is a good time or not. And this is a great time. I’m having a blast. I’m hanging out with my friends. I’m playing some extremely unconventional golf, you know, and it’s going, you know, so far so good. I haven’t lost a single ball. My bump and run game is going to be so good after this, too. We are in this Walnut Creek bike trail. And it’s nice, you know, we’re not surrounded by cars [music] potentially causing a wreck. So, there’s two things that are at the top of my mind that we have in the future, you know, and it’s making [music] me think about this because we’re on this very like easy part of the route. I know that there’s some challenges ahead. First off, we’re crossing a river. Second is the boardwalk. It It’s going to be hard. It’s [music] going to be a very like time inensive process, but for right now, we’re on easy street. Yep. I mean, this is the biggest opportunity to lose a ball permanently here. >> If you look closely on the bridge, you’ll notice that there’s no guard rails keeping the ball from falling off. It requires a really good putt on an unpredictable surface, but more than anything, it requires a lot of luck. >> Hit [music] the leaf. Oh my god. >> Oh my god. Holy [ __ ] Oh my god. I can’t believe that didn’t go over. That’s [music] crazy. I mean, it’s just still rolling. Middle middle of the car path. As soon as we hit the trail, our pace went through the roof. It was the least stressful part of the route thus far. And besides the bridge, the risk of losing a golf ball was low. But all good things must come to an end. Before I knew it, we were back in a neighborhood. And little did I know disaster was about to strike. >> Oh. Oh. >> To be totally honest, I’m not that disappointed we lost a ball here. That’s a bummer. Damn it. Honestly, like I had thoughts creeping and I was like, maybe I could do this with one ball. You know, maybe we could do it. >> 470. 3.98. >> Almost 4 miles. >> Wow. Almost 4 miles. That golf ball will be missed. I guess we pick a new one. All right. All right. Well, we lost our ball. I dropped here for a penalty. Now we have an uphill trek. Our next stop is the 7-Eleven where we will pick up something to drink. And with 11 left in the bag, I was feeling pretty good. >> I mean, we’re almost at the top of the hill and we took like the sidewalk the whole way there. What an insane routing. [music] >> We kind of knew it was going to be a storm. >> I know, man. Yeah. They’re just so hard to avoid. It’s like their whole >> It’s like their whole [music] purpose in life to funnel. >> N I like this. This is fine. >> This is chill. The sleepy neighborhood that we passed through was a lot easier than I had imagined. For most of it, I was able just to hit down the middle of the street, and I didn’t have to worry about moving cars, [music] but I did have to worry about the storm drains. >> I grew up with sit. >> Okay, we got some storm drains. Hazard there, hazard there. These could be some ball eaters, but the goal is to get it just right down the middle, but [music] also without hitting cars. So, God speed. >> Let’s go. >> And this isn’t really a spoiler, [music] but this was the last easy part of the day. In the back of my mind, I knew how close we were getting to a major highway, and I knew that we had to cross it. I don’t know if you caught that, but I hit a relatively conservative shot and the ball just bounced straight up over the barricade and I was unable to retrieve it. What a hobble. >> You just chipped it out and then it like hit something like right here and popped up. >> Straight up in the air. All right, title three. >> [laughter] >> What a creative guy. I would have never thought to do that. >> Our goal now is to park the golf ball, sit down, and eat some lunch. >> Let’s go. >> All right, let’s get some lunch. My friend Andy stopped by with lunch, and after roughly 5 hours, it was a welcome break. But all good things must come to an end. We had a highway to cross. That structure that you see there is the pedestrian bridge that crosses over Highway 183. And in theory, it seems simple to just get the golf ball up there, hit it across, and then be on our way. But that’s not how it happens. In order to get to the top, we have to take ramps. and hitting on concrete, the ball doesn’t really stop. So, we have to be really strategic about how we do this. Unless I get all the way to the top there, it’s going to come back down. And if I hit it too hard, it’s going to hit the lip at the top and go over the whole bridge. And who knows what’s down there. >> Stop. Stop. STOP. STOP. OH MY GOD. Oh my god. Am I going to onebang this without it rolling all the way back down? Did he hit it? Oh my god. Never in a million years would I thought I had done that first try. That’s crazy. And this one’s twice as long. It’s hard to tell, but this is hundreds of feet. And the ball needs to get to the top without going too fast or too slow. No. Find something. Find something. >> And as you can see here, I was inches away from the ball rolling onto the flat area and me being safe. But instead, we come short. And well, you’ll see what happens. >> Oh god. What’s going to happen when it gets down? >> I know. >> Oh no. >> That was actually almost so good. >> Oh no. >> No. Ah. worst possible outcome. >> You got to take a drop. Going here sets us back 30 minutes to get back to this point. >> And there’s kind of the time thing now, too. This is like a major major point to get through. So, >> okay. >> Honestly, if you can like get through this with just losing one more ball after this, we’re fine. So, you have a ball to play with, let’s say. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. And that’s about as good as I could do. I’m really psyched about this. Let’s go. Okay. I was so worried the same thing was about to happen. I for some reason I thought I didn’t have it. I thought I didn’t have it. >> I would say hit it like just barely enough to make it on the top level into that wall so that like >> it’ll rest. Yeah. >> Nice. Just like that. Let’s go. Let’s go, C. Oh god, I didn’t think about it. Oh no. You can’t really tell how steep the bridge is on camera, but it’s essentially the same as the ramp. Oh no. >> Oh no. Sit, sit, sit, sit, sit, sit. Oh my god. >> Oh my god. >> All right, so I’m at the breaking point. The ball has to get to where I’m sitting on the bridge to not roll all the way down the other ramp, which is crazy. Look how far away he is. Centering it up or no. Just going to go for it. All right, Andy, let’s go. It’s not enough. Not nearly enough. Hit a rock. Die. Come on. Stop right there. Oh, die. Just die. Die in the crack, please. Please, please, please. Oh. Okay, now slow down. Slow down. >> I think he did it. We’ll see. >> He did it. Okay, now it’s just hit it gently. We’re We’re in no rush. >> Let’s go. 601 bridge. That was wild. >> I I didn’t know when we were going to get out of that to be honest with you. >> Wow. >> How you feeling? >> Feel like I just climbed Mount Everest. [laughter] >> Dude, thanks for coming, man. >> Thank you for everything, brother. >> With the highway crossing behind us, we’ve checked off one of the most important hurdles of the route. But that doesn’t mean we’re anywhere out of the woods yet. We still have a major river crossing, over a mile of boardwalk with no safeguards, [music] and getting in and out of one of the largest channelized drainage canals in the state. Yeah. I’m [music] just God dang like what did I do to you? Is it like an open field up there, too? >> Oh, yeah. All right. Hold off. This is your shot right [music] here. Okay. >> That’s not a golf [laughter] ball. >> Go. Hurry up. >> Oh, >> excellent. Okay. All right. >> Okay. >> No, we’re not. >> Go, go, go. N. >> That was a constable. [music] That’s crazy. I almost swung into that guy. Tell me when. >> Hold. >> Wait. Constable. Constable. >> Okay. That’s They’re stopping. They’re [music] going to stop. >> You sure? You sure? >> Let’s go. >> We did it. Now, let’s go cross like legal people. >> Nope. Nope. Okay, we’re crossing like hams in front of the cop. Okay, that was that crossing sucked. [music] And that was just a street. That’s crazy. What we didn’t realize [music] is that the hardest challenge was right around the corner. This is Weberville Road. It’s [music] 1.6 mi of seemingly normal roadway. While mapping out the route, we didn’t see Weberville as [music] a major problem. >> Sorry, I have to wait for thising ball. I apologize. Just hit it. Came to a stop. Thank you. Sorry. We’re trying to hit a golf ball across Austin. >> Yeah. >> Awesome. Are you serious? Okay, I lost it. I got to drop laterally. How much more of Weberville do [laughter] we have? >> On the surface, it’s only a street. And how hard could that be? >> Uhoh. Don’t hit it. Don’t hit it. >> The reality, however, is that there’s significant uphill sections with very little grass or landing areas to work with. >> Okay, thank God. Resulting in the ball traveling repeatedly back down the hill or into the road. We did our best to keep morale up, but it was beating us up. >> This is badly. >> I mean, we’re going to be here for hours. >> And it was more than just frustration. Our goal today was to start at the rodeo grounds and end the day all the way over here at Riverside Golf Course. We were already behind schedule and the unintended difficulties that this terrain presented us was setting us back hours. We needed to finish this route in 2 days. And given how hard it was to get down this very simple road, we all started to doubt if it was even possible. >> There’s just really no end in sight to this, uh, this road is a lot worse than anticipated. >> Desperate times call for desperate measures. No, >> my ball ended up rolling into a storm drain. [music] And usually that would mean a lost ball, but in this case, it ended up going down into Boggy Creek. >> It’s better than this. >> Yeah, this sucks. >> If we take it down far enough that way, I mean, we’ll get somewhere and we’ll figure something out. >> Yeah, we intended on going down Boggy Creek later in the route, but we weren’t sure if we would be able to start this early. So, we climbed down into the creek to see if it was even possible. New side quest unlocked. I mean, worst comes to worse, we’ll backtrack, but right now I would do anything to get off of Weberville. >> Yeah. >> Oh no. >> Does it get too boggy? >> Oh no. >> Damn. The realization that we couldn’t go any further was heartbreaking. The last thing I wanted to do was backtrack and go back to Weberville, but we really didn’t have a choice. We only had about half a mile left, so it was time to just lean in and get it done. Oh god. Okay, perfect. >> Coming over. >> Scout log six. We just exited Weberville. That place sucked. Morale was kind of low at that point, but got out of there. Here’s the man. This is a cemetery. We’re getting out of here. Don’t worry. But we’re out of Weberville. >> Better than Weberville. >> Yeah, it’s good to be out of there. >> Oh, >> after going through an experience like we just did, I can’t tell you how good it feels to hit out into an open field. >> Feels so good. And at least for a little while, things were going to be a bit easier. >> Oh, hell yeah. We’re getting some of those brakes back now, too. >> Yes, we are. >> Oh, hell yeah. >> With only a couple hours of daylight left, we picked up the pace. We were a bit less conservative with our shots and slowed down when we felt like we were getting a bit too complacent. >> Where are we? We did it. But we’re at Gunter. We We get to chill for a little while for probably 45 minutes to an hour before it gets >> crazy again. >> Difficult, but this is going to be fun. And we get to go to Bogy Creek. Now, >> as we made our way west through another sleepy neighborhood, I knew that we were approaching a street called Airport Boulevard. >> Nice. Thanks. >> Airport is an extremely busy five-lane roadway. Our initial plan was to do another pedestrian bridge crossing to keep it as safe as possible. But given how much time that we spent on Weberville, we needed to make up some time. I knew if we waited long enough, we would get a break in the traffic. >> Have a sec after this after this red car. >> And after about 10 minutes, we got that chance. >> Go, go, go, go. >> Oh my god. We’re okay. Go. Come on. Oh [ __ ] Gunter back on Gunter. I love Guner. I love you, too. >> Oh my god, guys. [music] >> What? >> A pretty big moment just happened. We’ve eclipsed 1,000 shots. >> Wow. >> 1,000 shots. [music] 1002 to be exact. Oh, wow. One of the greatest unknowns along our path is Boggy Creek. Think of it like Austin’s LA River. It makes up over a mile of our route. So, if we run into any major issues like unplayable water, violent vagrants, or the police, we would need to reroute [music] and there would be very little chance that we would be able to complete the journey in 2 days. [snorts] >> None of us have actually ever been inside of Boggy Creek, [music] and we knew how we were going to get into it, and we had a pretty good idea about how we would get out. >> Good luck, dude. >> Thanks. >> But that’s the [music] thing about plans. Well, more on that later. >> This is really cool. It’s a such an interesting perspective from down here. >> We decide to enter Boggy Creek with as few people as possible so we don’t draw [music] attention to ourselves. >> Oh my god. >> So until we make it to the other side, it’s just Peter and I. Remember what I was saying about plans? [music] Well, the path we intended to take would have been nearly impossible. It’s a steep incline up and I would have likely lost several balls in the process. [music] So, we pulled up our maps and came up with plan number two. We are here in Boggy Creek and just over this wooded area soccer fields. Our intended line needs to be accurate because if we go far left, we’ll end up [music] on this farm, lose a ball, and need to rehit. Anything too far right would put us in this wooded area here, and the chances [music] of finding it are slim. So, we call Simon and Hunter and have them head over to the soccer field so we can have some eyes on the ball. They’re >> now at soccer fields. They’re going to hit from the creek into the soccer fields. >> It It might go past you a little bit, but I’m I’m going to try and land it kind of like in the middle of the soccer field. >> Okay, go for it. We’re ready. >> Ready. >> All right. Three, two, one. >> Oh. Oh, it popped over. Oh, it popped over. >> Oh, >> we see it. >> See it. We got it. >> Holy. >> Let’s go. >> We got it. It’s amazing. >> We got it. You got it. First try. >> Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. I still can’t believe we got out of there without losing the ball. Absolutely insane. >> Welcome to the soccer field. >> Thank you, sir. >> Barely got over. >> Wow. >> Barely. >> Look at that. >> And just like that, we’re back on the surface. And if we don’t run into any issues, it looks like we may just be able to make the river crossing. Oh, sorry. Okay. Today’s video is brought to you by AG1. From the soccer fields to the bridge is exactly one mile. Google Maps said it’s about a 20-minute walk, but I have no idea how long it’ll take to hit a golf ball there. We have about 40 minutes until sunset, so I’m feeling pretty confident. Oh, and rush hour hits a bit different for doing this. Oh yeah. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. >> Did they stop? >> No. >> Like every time something bad happens, I don’t look. I close my eyes and turn around. I closed my eyes and turn around. >> Look, it’s right there. I had the flex to you last. >> Oh wow. >> How did it [laughter] get there? >> What a leave. >> Oh my god. >> Okay. Deja vu. >> We making it to the crossing >> for sure. We’re making >> for sure. Okay. The river crossing requires a 100yard [music] carry, but in order to get it anywhere findable, I’ll likely need to hit a 130 to 150 yd shot. My main window is [music] between these two pylons. It’s a tight fairway, so I’ll need to hit a pretty accurate shot or get very, [music] very lucky. The chance of me losing some golf balls here is significant. I’d give it at least a 50% chance I hit a pylon and end up in the water. I desperately want to get across the river [music] with as many remaining golf balls as possible. I think uh we’re watching. >> You’re watching. Okay. What club do you have in your hands? You should probably take a seven. >> Yeah. Yeah, I’ll take a seven. I’m just going to full I’m going to full swing a seven and essentially try and hit them. So, the reality is there’s a very real chance that I hit several bad shots and I run [music] out of golf balls. The challenge would effectively be over. But I’m not going to think about that. My plan is to take a deep breath and hit a good shot. >> How far do you think that is? It’s like it’s an 100 yard carry. >> Okay. Oh. Oh, you made it. >> You made it. >> I made it. >> Yeah. >> Go. Come on. Let’s go. >> Dude, I was so worried about that. >> No, that was insane. >> I was so worried about that. >> Wow, dude. Come on. >> Let’s go, man. >> Come on. >> Go. This right here is what this is all about. >> Yes, sir. Yeah. Time that we don’t have. I’m I’m so happy that worked out. So happy. After I hit the shot, Simon and Hunter looked for the ball for a while and were unable to find it. And when I got here, I spent a bunch of time looking for it as well. The grass here is incredibly tall and [music] the camera makes it look like there’s more light than there really is. Okay, so I kind of scoured that area. The grass is like waist high. I think it’s gone forever. I’m just going to take a penalty. That’s another lost ball. That was the seventh lost ball. So, we have five more to go. So, unfortunately, I had to take a drop. But since I made it across, I get to drop on this side. >> Oh, hell yeah. Hell yeah. [music] >> Let’s get out of here and go home. Very cool. Very cool. Very nice. Okay, so that’s the end of day one. We’re going to look at how many shots that we hit and how far [music] that we’ve traveled. >> Today we hit 1,227 shots. >> Assuming that we do the same number of shots tomorrow since we’re about halfway there, that puts us at a rate about 2450. Um, I have a feeling it’s going to be a bit higher, though. And how far did we travel? >> 12.68 mi at 10 hours and 40 [music] minutes. >> It’s crazy. Thank you. >> Let’s go. All right, y’all. It’s been a journey. Thanks for watching. See you tomorrow. All right. Good morning. We’re back. We got our boys with us again. Let’s go. >> Yesterday, we made great headway on our journey to hit a golf ball across a city. We moved quickly through the outskirts, crossed a major highway, and tackled the worst imaginable street for golf. We traversed what is essentially a subterranean ditch and successfully hit our ball over 100 yards across a river. Today is the true city golf experience. We passed through city parks, boardwalks, baseball diamonds, and play two more actual golf courses. The spirits are high this morning, which is surprising after such a grueling first day. I just want to give a shout out to our events. We uh put on really cool events. We do week-long trips in places like Ireland, Scotland, and Morocco. We do classic events at places like Fox Chapel and Tobacco Roads. We also do Mad Scramble Tours, which is like cheaper than going out on a decent date at a Texmax restaurant. We just announced our next major, which takes place throughout the Scottish Highlands. It’s 10 rounds [music] in 7 days at legendary courses like Royal Dornick, Castle Stewart, and Deress. We’re also doing our first domestic major at Pinehurst. You’ll want to grab tickets soon because they’re already going fast. >> I guess the only thing to do now is get a club. How are you feeling, Pete? >> Feeling great. Feeling like it’s going to be a short day. Something tells me it’s going to be a short day today. >> A short day. I love it. >> Great start. >> Not bad. Not bad start. >> Start. >> And we’re off. >> Get right, please. [music] [laughter] >> Shot of the day so far. >> I love you, man. That was crazy. [laughter] >> Nice, dude. >> And just when we thought nothing could take the wind out of our sails, I hit what I thought was a great shot. And it ended up in some grass that I didn’t even know was there. At this point, we haven’t even made it into West Austin. And having to take a drop here means I only have oneird of the balls that I started with. >> Kev, I hate to say it, but I think you should drop. >> Okay. Still got four balls. There’s four balls remaining. >> It was time for a pallet cleanser. And playing a real golf hole is just what I need. >> Yeah, I got to play one hole at every golf course we pass. Again, we uh we did not book any tea time, so this is going to be a bit of a clandestine mission. >> This is Riverside Golf Club, an Austin staple and what was once Austin Country Club before they brought it out west. >> There’s a tea box right on the other side of this. Like you don’t want to blast it as far as you can. >> Just we just want to creep on. >> Yeah, just get it over. >> My favorite hole on the back nine just so happens to be accessible from this field. >> Oh, beautiful. >> What a glorious chip. >> I think I’m on the T- box. I see my ball there. I’m just going to run out, hit into the fairway, run, and play the hole. >> Okay, we’re going to go. Going through. Simon, wish me luck. >> Good luck. >> Thanks. All right, this is awkward. There’s our ball right there. It’s a short par4. Drivable par4. Obviously, I only have a seven iron. So, not a bad shot up on the right hand rough exactly where he’s mowing. Unfortunately, he might not care. He might not really give a My goal is to get back to that ball before he uh cuts his way through. There he is right there. Got one shot in and then we putt close to the hole. We don’t go in the hole cuz I can’t touch the ball. So, here we go. This is shot number two. Just short of the green. Little chip one. Be fine. There’s our homie right there. Beautiful morning. Like it is very dewy and nice out. There’s already a ball on the green. That’s strange. Nobody else in sight. Just that maintenance guy. Seems we’re having better luck here at Riverside Golf Course than we were at Harvey Pinnick. Uh he’s got like a 30ft putt for par. He’s probably not probably not reading it too well. No, he did not make par, but he could make bogey. >> So, I think I have this for bogey. Remember, I’m just going to get it close. Not in. Can’t go in. Perfect. I’ll count that in. All right. Now, we have to get back to the T- box while still hitting the ball. Okay. When I get back to the fairway here, I can hit a a longer shot back up to the T- box. So, let’s do that. Going back up to our uh where we started this. And I am just going to hit this shot [music] back over the fence line and be out of here. Scot-free. >> Oh, he’s going over. >> Let’s go. >> Like it never happened. >> Let’s get out of here. >> Like it never happened. Let’s get out of here. >> See you, brother. Bye. >> Easy. Let’s go. >> I don’t know if that guy even looked at me the whole time. He did not care about anything. >> Let’s go. Side quest complete. >> Side quest complete. >> Before 8 a.m. >> Wow. Before 8:00 a.m. Side quest complete. Second golf course played. All right, let’s kick rocks. The next mile consisted of some easy fields and trails, [music] and we even saw some wildlife along the way. >> It’s kind of a fresh day. I was worried that I would be sore and I would just be like beat really early on in the day today, but I’m not. As the trail ended, we arrived at what is essentially a large ditch. There’s a bridge that we initially planned on putting across, but since the bridge doesn’t have guardrails, we decided it would be quicker and less risky to just hit a shot over the entire expanse. Damn. Nice. >> Go, go. >> Okay. Oh, >> we’re safe. >> We’re safe. Yeah, >> that was a good shot. And it was on number 99, too. >> We played through a sports complex and hopped a couple fences before reaching the first stretch of the An and Roy Butler hike and bike trail. >> It’s a good start. Really good start. Oh yeah, there’s the bonobos we all love. Theoretically, we could take the hike and bike trail for most of the way over the finish line, but we would need to essentially double the amount of time we spend on the boardwalks, and we definitely want to limit those at all costs. So, instead, we’ll take the hike and bike trail for as long as we can before cutting over to Riverside Drive, which has its own set of challenges. I have a feeling once we get closer to Auditorium Shores, it’s going to be a bit of a different story. Oh, no way. Could I get that, you think? >> Absolutely. >> Okay. All kinds of creepy crawlies under there. Hey, don’t show the feet. No feet for free, dude. I’m just kidding. Y’all can see the feet. >> Like, it was definitely worth it in a nice little side quest. >> Yes. God. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. >> Peter, what are some of your thoughts as we approach our first boardwalk section? >> Um, I mean, we’re light on balls, so my my main thoughts are just hoping that Keer can keep it together when we get there. >> I know, man. >> But I’m feeling good. Today’s been fun. >> What is he doing? down to the path. Not my greatest work. Hey, [laughter] [panting] you’re good. You’re good. >> Good job. Appreciate you. Thank you. >> Go, go, go, go. >> So, is that a penalty or >> Yeah, that’s a penalty. Oh, so I used to live by Riverside and I used to pass this sign all the time and it always reminded me of a pair of balls. Hell yeah. Ah, a shot for the boobs. >> If Riverside was the first street that we had played yesterday, I would have been incredibly stressed out. But after everything we went through yesterday, it doesn’t really feel that difficult. >> Wow. Well done. >> Right through 90% air. [laughter] >> This roadway doesn’t really make for a great golf hole. The playable grass is littered with obstacles. And when it’s not, it’s at an angle that makes it very difficult to keep the ball in play. And just when I thought I was free, back into the gate for another rescue mission. This >> is a good opportunity >> right now. >> Yeah. >> Still good. >> Yeah. Super good. >> Oh yeah. Okay. >> You got it, dude. Still good to play from the road if need be. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I will. I didn’t touch it. Okay. God, we are so cold. >> So back. >> Okay. That big problem solved right there. Riverside basically done. We are on the path. Amazing. Amazing. >> And as we round the corner and head down the path, we run into another unexpected obstacle. What we thought was a clear path down to the trail is actually an unnavigable zigzag ramp with no guardrails. >> What’s our plan here? >> And with the tree cover, it’s not actually something you can see on Google Earth. Putting the ball down the ramp is out of the question, so we had to get creative. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Oh my god. Okay. >> Whoa. Sick. >> Now I can kind of set it up. Oh, >> it’s not bad. It’s not terrible. Okay. >> Oh. >> Okay. >> I see it. You’re fine. >> Oh, I see it. Yeah. Yeah. That’s chill. >> All right. >> Sick. >> Great work, dude. Let’s go. So, the move is just going to be putt, right? >> I think it’s putt time. Yeah. >> Okay. So, I’m going to try and get the ball just on the flat. >> Yep. >> And then we’ll hit a putt across >> runner. >> Oh, hell yeah, dude. >> Huge. >> Come on. >> That’s so huge. Was that even intentional? >> We’re putting now. >> We’re putting now. So, now we’re coming up to what [music] I’ve kind of been thinking about this entire time, which is the boardwalk. It’s essentially a giant stretch with bumps and cracks all between and [music] no safeguards on the side. So, if any of the balls veer out right or left, it’s going to be in the water. My goal here is to hit it basically crack to crack and just take it slow. [music] And this will be kind of probably the longest part of the day right now. Losing a ball this early on the boardwalk is incredibly unfortunate. >> Three. Didn’t I just say that my goal was to take it [music] slow? We’ve still got a mile until the boardwalk is behind us. >> Just me. >> Yeah, >> you as well. >> Your eyes are not deceiving you. What you just saw is completely legal in Texas and a number of other states. [music] The boardwalk is a bit tedious, but I was getting the hang of it. I felt like we were making really good time, but I was definitely [music] ready to put it behind us. >> Simon [music] kept blasting this ball. You’re blasting it. >> Yeah. >> Yep. So ready to be off the boardwalk. Yep. Whoa. Okay. But look at this. Hard to mess this up. Trail was shortlived. Uh now we’re back on the boardwalk. I don’t know exactly how much. I don’t remember how much boardwalk we have left, but >> it’s enough. >> It’s enough. It’s not nothing. Tell you that. >> In the hole. >> Yeah. Trying. >> We’re coming up on a section of the trail where we get a break from the boardwalk for a while. With only three yards left, I need to take it slow and play it safe. >> Keer, I’m going to get it. I’m going to get it. Yeah. I have to take a Molly. Rolling. All right. So, we dropped that ball. I mean, it should be findable then. >> A bad place to hang out, >> huh? I mean, the ball. It had to have stopped. I never found the ball under the bridge, but after reviewing the footage, it turns out I just missed it. Huh? >> Is there mud on my butt? >> Uh, a lot. Yeah, >> a lot. >> We have more boardwalk ahead. What a cute little guy. or girl. He’s just munching away. Is that yummy? All right, bye. Oh god, that’s unfortunate. >> I mean, you’re going to you’re going to lose the rest of your golf balls [music] if you do that. >> Yeah, I agree. I’m also it is maintenance season, man. You know, I don’t [music] even mind the boardwalk anymore. I feel like we’re like cruising. I think that’s the end of it over there, huh? >> It is, >> dude. Yeah, man. >> Halfway through this. Crazy how far we’ve [music] come just putting it two to three tiles at a time. How’s it going? >> Good. How y’all >> doing? Pretty good. >> Good. >> Playing [music] some golf. Stop. >> Oh, saved. >> Thank god. >> I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back on dirt, hitting the ball more than just a few feet at a time. We park our ball here, get some well- earned lunch at Taco Joint before we’re back on our way for the home stretch. Lunch time’s over. >> Oh, bike. Sorry about that. >> Oh, no. Oh, no. All right, we’ve made it to the Congress Bridge. Uh, it’s actually home of the largest population of Mexican free tail bats. In the summer, you can see them pop out and eat a bunch of bugs. It’s a big tourist attraction. I did it once. It was kind of lame. We have three balls left, so anything is possible, but I’m beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to hold it together. >> Oh, dude. Didn’t realize how careful I needed to be. Look. Oh, there it is. There it is. Right there. All right. >> All right. Yeah, that’s for some reason. And I don’t know if it’s just the slope of the path or if I’m just getting complacent. >> Oh, yeah. Getting some bad lies today. >> But for some reason, I just can’t keep the ball out of the water. Shut the up. Oh, no. Got it. >> Yeah. Okay, let’s not do that again. That’s That’s no fun. This is Thank you. 700 for the day. Honda’s number is looking really good. Really good. One time when I was a kid, it was an excavator about that big. I was probably like 19 years old. But I got blackout drunk and I climbed in one and the key was in there and I started excavating dirt out of a construction site and swinging it across the road and dumping [music] the dirt. Technically, we could stay on the trail for a while, but we have one more golf course to check off of our list. So, we make our way off the beaten path and back onto the main road. To be honest with you, it blows my mind how far we’ve come on this mission. The same skyline that seemed so far away in the distance when we started this journey is the same one I’m walking past right now. And to think we made it all that way while hitting a golf ball. We made it to Butler Pitch Butt. I just have to go back across the median and I’m going to ask these guys if I can play nine with them. Only going to play one hole. >> As I approached the ninth hole at Butler, there’s a group that was more than happy to let us join up and play. Do you mind if I play nine with you? I can’t touch the ball, so I got to try and pop it up there. >> So close. >> There we go. >> Up and over. >> There it is. >> Boy, calf. >> Wow. >> Let’s go. [music] >> Okay, I’ll take it. Yeah, this is definitely the hardest video I’ve ever made. That’s for sure. >> Yeah. >> Oh, good ball. >> Good ball. >> Oh, good shot. Get up there. Okay. >> Couple long putts. >> Kefir. >> Kefir. >> Yes, [music] sir. >> Demani, >> good to meet you, Dei. Nice to meet you, brother. >> Good to meet you, man. >> Get up there. Got to go. Go. >> Get in. >> Get in. Good shot. >> OH, [laughter] come on. Come on. >> Ah. [clears throat] Four the game. For the round. >> Camera’s wrong. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Stop playing on camera. >> After successfully completing our side quest of playing every golf course we pass, we’re officially in the home stretch. >> Oh, no, no, no. Keep it. Keep it. Keep it. Keep it. Keep it. [laughter] A. Thanks, man. I appreciate you. We’re at 860 shots right now. I kind of think getting it on Hunter’s number would be like legitimately doable. >> Whoa. So, >> like trying to get it under >> What was your number? 20 What? >> 2256. >> 2256. If I can If I can like beat all the predictions, I would consider that a big win. >> That’s true. >> You know, We’re kind of like officially in the home stretch. We’ll clear Zilker and then hit Mopac, go across the bridge up a hill and we’re there. Somehow in my mind, I just didn’t think this [music] thing would ever end. Yeah, I woke up this morning praying that we wouldn’t have to come back for a third day. So, >> what what’s our mileage at, by the way? >> 7.93 >> today. Plus, what did we do yesterday? Golfing >> plus 12.6 something. So, >> 21 miles. >> Yeah, >> we walked 21 miles and you’ve hit a golf ball >> the whole time. >> The whole time. >> Some of those miles were just [music] painstakingly like just knocking it a few feet, taking three steps, knocking it a few feet. That’s crazy. I think we’re going to have to isit full golf shot. [laughter] >> This is safe. >> It’s safe. S safe content. >> What a welcome site this is. >> We’re good. >> A bridge that actually has guard rails. >> So, this is Barton [music] Springs. This bridge is famous for people jumping off of it. Uh you’re not allowed to obviously because they have signs everywhere, but every time I’ve [music] been across this bridge, people are jumping off the side. I’ve done it a time or two. It’s really cool. Um, the problem is is we need to get a ball across it. Luckily, there’s bumpers on the side. >> Oh. >> Oh. >> Has he done it? >> He’s done it. >> Get through. [music] Get through. >> Sorry about that. >> Apologies. Oh my god. We made it first try. It’s crazy. >> Oh my gosh. I didn’t even realize this was right there. [music] It It skipped through this and through this. >> Where is it now? It’s >> right over there. >> Oh, dude. >> It went through both of >> I thought it was gone. I said I take my hat off. I was >> Let’s go, dude. >> Let’s go. Come on. >> Inspired by the heroic shot we hit out of Boggy Creek the day before. Pete suggested instead of taking the trail around the Oiler Park, we simply hit a golf ball up and over this massive treelined hill. >> What if, dude? I mean, it’s pretty clear. I mean, like, even if I got close to JG lifts, I’m not going to hit the guy in the boom. >> No. Yeah. I mean, that’s the move. Okay. Incoming. >> And I scoldled it. >> Oh, >> he’s pointing that way. >> Oh, it’s right here. I found it. I found it. Holy [ __ ] No way. Right there. No way. Is that the same ball? >> Definitely. [music] >> Yeah. Yeah. Titles three. Whoa. Let’s go. That’s crazy. All right. coming [music] up. >> Nice. >> Nice. Let’s go. >> Not the cleanest, but we’re up. I mean, Zilker always felt like the place that [music] we were just never going to get to. Hello. Hi. Hi. It’s okay. Like in in my head the whole time I was thinking like when we make it to Zilker, everything’s going to be okay. [music] When we make it to Zilker, I’m going to feel so much better. And I really do. All of the most difficult things are behind us. I mean, unless there’s some stuff that I I simply like am not thinking of from here until Rollingwood. But I don’t know. I think we’re good. Man, this has been a journey. It has been a really cool journey and it’s like something that like I’m happy that it was more difficult than I really anticipated. I think it was a really cool challenge. I’m really happy I did it. I don’t regret it. Uh but yeah, ready to like go home, take a hot bath, stretch my legs, and put some PJs on. That’s for sure. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this entire concept was heavily inspired by Geo Wizard, [music] who is one of Peter and I’s favorite YouTubers. We actually thought of this concept while watching a video of him attempting to cross England in a perfectly straight line. We have to find the the the exact coordinates >> there. I mean, it’s the pavement changes. >> Oh, the pavement literally changes cuz it goes from city managed to municipality managed. Whoa. >> Okay. Tell me when. >> Now. >> Now. >> Now. >> There’s a person going. There is a blister that you can’t really see, but I certainly feel it. And it is going to be gnarly. I can’t wait to get to Rollingwood, see how many shots it took, see how long we walked, cuz it’s it’s going to be a lot. We’re so close that I could smell it. Uhoh. >> Oh my god. >> With the city limits and the end of our route mere minutes away, I’m thinking a lot about how grateful I am to even attempt something like this. Not everyone gets a chance to exercise their free will in such an absurd way. So, if you’re still watching, thank you. I wouldn’t be able to do something like this if nobody watched. And [music] I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this without the help of Peter, Hunter, and Simon every step of the way. >> I mean, that’s exactly how I drew it up. That’s exciting. >> We’re playing. Got one more street crossing after this. Honestly, great. Okay, home stretch. It’s crazy. Oh, man. I can see it with my own eyes. I can see the western city limit boundaries of Austin, Texas. That’s crazy. >> Stop. >> Stop. It stopped. >> Let’s go. >> No way. >> Oh my god. We’re here, >> dude. Let’s >> Oh, congratulations, C. >> Thank you. >> You did it, man. >> Everything. >> Let’s go, man. >> Guys, look how green the grass is. >> It’s kind of crazy. So, your guess yesterday at the very start of the day was 2,238. To beat that, we had to get under 1,1 shots. And Keer crossed Rollingwood at 1,09 shots. >> Shut up. >> So, we hit it. >> There’s no way. >> 2,236 strokes. >> No way. [music] That’s crazy. >> And my guess was 3500. >> Simon’s was 3737. >> Yeah. >> 22.02 miles. Wow. >> Just a shy of a marathon. >> That was crazy. >> Wow. >> Should we go walk four more miles? >> Yeah. >> Nope. [laughter] I really appreciate you watching this video. If you like the video, like it. Make sure to subscribe. It makes me look really good. So, uh, thanks. And peace. >> Damn, guys. That was [applause] a lot of fun. What a rainy.
In today’s video we take one of our most ambitious golf challenges to date: using only golf clubs, move a golf ball from one side of a city to another. Presented by Bonobos.

Do it in NYC next!!
Damn, crazy that you did this twice!
Still exactly as good as the first time, well done.
Wait, I swear I watched this yesterday? 😂
Keffer is such a dog. Our new endurance king
For being a second unit video, this is a banger. Keep up the great work, guys!
I wanted harder swings. You could have made it over the roads with more solid swings and with the team as scouts you would have been able to keep track better.. For a spin on it, you should try again at night with an LED ball and see if you can do it with less strokes.
using a LAB putter is diabolical
"is that the same ball?" 🤣 As if someone else has been playing golf through the city parks of Austin and happened to lose their ball where you guys were looking for one
You should do this across a state. Make it a series!
"7 Iron for sale, only used it for 2 days!"
Did y'all ever get called out for trespassing off camera?
Ohh so this is what the club that was only used for 2 days went thru. Makes sense
Today’s delinquency is brought to you by AG1!
Nothing better than wacking a ball across your state with your best buds
Awesome content! Really enjoyed this!
