so the lob and the bunker shot are actually very similar essentially you're doing the exact same thing you're opening up your body so that you can have a glancing blow across the ball which gets the club in and out of the sand as quickly as possible and you still have your weight anchored on your front foot and you're still closed through impact but there is one additional variable and that's that you have to hold the club face open throughout the entire swing and that's what's going to allow the club to slip under the ball that's what's going to allow the ball to come out higher and softer with a little bit of spin now I heard Jack Nicholas say once the key playing out of Fairway bunkers was avoiding Fairway bunkers and I can't stress that enough when you add these variables you're just making yourself more vulnerable to hit poorer shots so we always want to leave ourselves in a position where we're not vulnerable

  1. bunker shot is the easiest of all golf shots,,, it is the only shot that the intent is Not to hit the ball 1st,,,lol ,,,

  2. I heard Moe Norman was so deadly out of the bunker.. that sometimes he would deliberately aim for a bunker beside the green because he knew (for him) it was an automatic up-and-down.
