I’ve Never Felt Pressure Like THIS in a Golf Tournament

Today was the closest thing I felt to a Ryder Cup. It’s the third and final day of one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking tournaments I’ve played in all time. It wasn’t even close to the right read. The 55th San Diego Cup, a Ryder Cup style tournament hitting the best mids in San Diego against the pros. Yeah, it’s tense out here. Everyone’s in the zone. We’re at the prestigious Omni Lacost Resort, site of the current NCAA championships. And today is for all the marbles. It’s Sunday singles matches. Winner takes home the cup. Guys, welcome back to the channel. Today is a very special day. We’re playing in the San Diego Cup. It’s a Ryder Cup style team matchplay tournament and a 3-day tournament. Today is the final day. We are tied up six to six and it’s finals day. We’re playing singles match play. So today we’re playing against someone on the other team. It’s professionals versus amateurs. So today, our amateur team taking on the professional team. We’ll see how it goes. We’re tied up 66, so it’s close. Final day. We got to go out there and get it. Bring home the cup. Let’s go. All right. So, this is it. The final day of the San Diego Cup matches. This is a RDER Cup style tournament. I got picked to be on the amter team. There’s 12 guys on the amter team, 12 guys on the pro team. They’re like the best club pros from all around the San Diego area. And uh we had three days of matches. This is the third day. The first day was like a modified uh alternate shot. The second day was best, team baseball, and then the third day is Sunday singles. And so uh it’s a close one. So anything can happen. Um really close, super excited. The tensions were high. It really felt um as close to a Ryder Cup as I’ve felt. Uh everybody wanted to win and it was tense out there. I I’m really excited to bring this to you guys cuz I really think you’re going to see and feel that tension. It’s going to be really exciting. So So let’s get into it. I bought this Wolf putting thing at the start of the year with my own money and honestly it’s helped my start line so much I decided to partner with them. WGolf’s training aids are built for golfers who care about improving. So if you’re obsessed with getting better like I am, Wolf will make your practice count. I’ll put the link in the description, bro. Play sometime. So, yeah. Oh, okay. We’ll have to get out. All right, guys. Welcome to individual match play, the final day of the 55th playing of the San Diego Cup matches. Nick’s on the tea is match number 10 representing the amateur team. Please welcome Nick Neil. Good rib. Very nice. Thanks. Now on the T representing the professionals and playing out of the farms, please welcome Mr. Colin Rinshell. Colin, buddy. Yeah, kid. Colin, good ball. So today we’re playing the Lacasta Northc course which is actually where they’ve played the NCAA championships for the last couple of years. Uh they redid the course recently a few years ago and it is tough. They completely redid the greens, redid the bunkering. The bunkering is deep. Elevated greens turtle back. They slope off. It’s a challenge but uh looking forward to it. You know, not feeling super confident in my game but got to dig deep and just trust myself and give it my best. Flew that a little too far. Just caught it half a hair thin. Half a groove thin. Hang up. Hang up. Hang up. Oh, I can’t believe that lipped out. That was so fast. Barely tapped it. It was just I can’t believe it lipped out going that slow. Solid par to start. That’s good. H just to hold on. Get a good lie. Well, good swing. Please be right of it. Felt like I was right of where I was yesterday. I was right here yesterday. It’s actually a decent lie. Might be might be in gozone. So Colin was in perfect position in the middle of the fairway. He knocked it on the green to about 25 ft. So I didn’t love this lie. There was a big cloud of dirt right in front of the ball that I felt like could knock it anyway. And so I would have laid up normally, but since Colin knocked on the green, it kind of forced my hand. I had to go for it. Oh, that’s not good. I think that’s in the water. All right, so went up to the green, checked. It was indeed in the water. So, took the drop, hitting my fourth shot here. Got to try and get it up and down for par. Force his hand to at least two putt for birdie and win the hole. I was right at it. I don’t know about distance-wise. It It came out really good. It might have flown the green. It just went right through the grass. That’s good. All right. So, one down. One down. Plenty more golf to play. It’s like right in between clubs for me. I’m going to have to take some something off this. So, a little a little flighted. Yeah. Yeah. A little lower 80 shot if you could hit in there. Even a little lower 75 kill you cuz the wind is not in your face. Like it’s always it’s totally different this way and then behind you a little bit. Not as I was thinking it was based on what it looked like back there. I thought I’d be putting over the like over a corner of the fringe or something. This pin is nasty. It’s just right on the top of the spine. That’s very good. I don’t love this lie. It’s very bare Bermuda. I think I’m going to have to putt it. Settle. Settle. Settle. Settle. Oh man. Jeez, that thing took off. Let’s go. Oh, that one felt good. That was a big putt. Let’s go. Now it’s on him. He’s got to make this to uh to stay one up or else it’s back tied. You left me hanging. Got it back. Back to all square. I felt good. It’s tense. It’s tense out here. It’s intense. Goose Fraa. It’s a position hole. There’s a bunch of bunkers out there. Put it in the fairway and give yourself a wedge. Thanks. Heard a lot. I just it was like I was good at it. So like Yeah, it’s tense out here. They got everyone’s in the zone. Like it’s Ryder Cup intensity right now. Like as close as you can get. It’s RER Cup intensity. Each group has a rules official following the group and it’s no joke. Reminds me of like college a lot. Guess that’s not quite casual water. Mud all over the ball though. Yeah, we’re playing the ball down and it’s just rained a ton this week. So you get in so many mud balls. 124 130 downwind 125. Yeah, I think a 25 to I think a full 52 25 to 30 shot should land deep and spin back. I think that’s the play. [Music] Come on back. Thank you. Just like that. I think that’s going to be pretty close. That was nice. That was a good good wedge shot. Hit that exactly how I wanted. Looks like I’m below the hole. So, I got up a putt, too. It’s perfect. Oh, it could be real close. Can’t even see it. I think it’s like right next to the pin, maybe. Hanging on the edge. I think you need your Oh, yeah. True. That is like absolutely hanging on the edge. Oh, man. I can’t believe that ball didn’t go in for eagle, but hanging on the edge. Absolutely perfect wedge shot. He was looking at a putt for par, so he conceded my birdie and took the lead one up. And then yeah, in the middle of the fairway. Just aiming at it and hope you don’t hit a good one. Hope you hit a good but just not straight. Just a little bit off. Thanks. [Music] Food number one. Got to remember to eat food. I always forget and then I’m like, “Oh, my stomach is kind of like I’m feeling a little shaky.” And and I’m like, “Oh, I haven’t eaten for like ever.” Run on empty. As usual, we got banana, peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter and raspberry jam sandwich, protein bar, and we got a protein drink if if needed. Yeah, good one. 65 yards downwind. All right, nip one in there. be good. Thanks. Yep. Perfect. How I wanted did break. That’s good. Below the hole, it looked like it was going to break. And from here, it just looked very straight. I ended up kind of splitting the difference. Bring it like just outside the hole. Nice. Good birdie there from Colin. Gets it back to even. Man, that putt I hit that putt where I wanted. It just These greens are really tricky. Very undulating, very fast. I just was kind of between two reads and I took the less break read and it ended up breaking more. But great birdie by Colin. Back to even a par five here. Pretty long. Two good pokes to reach it. Pretty severe dog left. This green is fun. This green’s gnarly. Good ball. Thank you. Oh, you got 238. This pin is in the back. 238. I don’t think I want to be pin high. It’s a Oh, that looked good. 248. Bit of help win. We’ll call it We’ll call it 240 pin. 245 pin. Probably want to hit like a 225 shot. Short short of this pin is where you want to be in case you miss. It’s very severe back to front. We’ll go four iron. Try and hit a 225 shot. Damn. Going out right. It’s going to be in a low a low spot right of the green. Green’s going to be like 10 feet above my head. I won’t be able to see halfway up the flag stick for sure. We’ll see. That could be very interesting. So, I got if I go at the hole here, I’m going to run the risk of of catching that same slope he just caught and rolling off the green. So, I’m going to have to play a little bit right. I mean, ideally, ideally, I’d be short right of this pin. Give myself a bit of an uphill look, but I mean, it’s so far down and the grain is into me, too. You have three or four yards to hit it into. It’s crazy. I will take that. I will take that. Just grab that ground. That ground just grabs the club. You catch it a little too clean, you hit it to the back, and then you’re putting straight down the hill. We got a little uphill right to lefter here. This is where this where I wanted to putt from. So, I’m happy. Great shot in there, bro. Look, man. I’m like just gonna fly everything. Yeah, exactly. That’s very good effort. Step Wow. Are you kidding me? Thanks. That ball just took off like right as it gets the hole. It just starts going down. All square. That’s perfect. Best swing of the day there. Rehash that one a few times. Hell of a shot. I got 158. Helping wind flyer lie. I’m going to play the flyer. 58. I’m going to say it’s like a I’m going to hit like a 45 shot. Go pitching ledge here. Oh, set it. Big old flyer. That pitching wedge about 170 just then. Could have been Could have been worse. 20 yards long. A choked down pitching wedge. Biggest knuckle of the century. Oh jeez. Settle, settle, settle, settle, settle. Just so much faster than I feel. Maybe that was just downgrain. Shiny. All right. Well, pretty horrible putt down the slope. I thought that wasn’t that fast and it just was extremely fast. I’m not sure if it was down grain or what, but uh anyways, he birdied or he had a short putt for birdie. So, this match is a seessaw. It’s been back and forth, back and forth. He’s back to one up. Feel like every round the greens have got successively. Successively. Is that a That’s not a word. There’s a word like that. It doesn’t sound right, though. Well, each day they’ve got progressively faster and today they’re the fastest by far. And I’m just like not adjusting on those long ones. I need to adjust. 45. I can hit it 50 if I step on it. I’ve been hit. Okay. I know. It just feels doesn’t feel like it’s helping it that much anymore, but I’m going to trust it. Try to lean on this pitching wedge a little bit. Get it up in the air. Same. It’s basically um like a one playing like a 150 shot. It’s 158. One high 140s to 50 is going to be perfect. So, I’m going to hit I’m going to lean on a pitching wedge. I’m like 145 is my pretty much stock full pitching wedge. looking swing. Nice shot. Thanks. It’s just right in this little bowl area. It’s good as a look as I could hope for, but it’s still a downhill sliding type putt. Not bad, though. Pretty good look. Oh man, nice roll. That’s good. All right, it’s going to be fast as hell. All right, just got to move in here left. H overcompensation from the last hole. So easy to get it rolling past the hole and you have five feet coming back. Oh, look at this crazy crazy bug on my What bug is this? What’s up, dude? I know you’re a crazy beetle. Look at him. Oh. Oh, fly away. Sorry, guys. I need to save this bug here. There we go. All right, you’re good. It was like right No, it was kind of like middle. It was right on that mound that kind of left like right on it. Really tough pen. Below it or after it, but like 99. Little uphill. A little into the wind. Oh, that looked long. That bounced didn’t look friendly. Resistance I’m going to get here. Doesn’t seem super thick. I hit like a stock little sand wedge shot. Fly. Couldn’t really see. Oh, I ju I just saw it roll back in the bunker. Back left. Oh my gosh. It landed on the green, caught the slope, and rolled. Like 5 seconds later, I saw it roll in the bunker. Jeez, I was afraid of it just going straight through the grass and catching another flyer. Ate it up. Okay, marking the end. Mhm. right there. Give it a like side a sideways rake. Kind of this way. Yeah, just kind of fill in that little Yeah, that should be good. Is it If I touch the ground, it’s okay, right? It’s okay to touch the ground, right? Okay. So, it was like here. See? Seem fine. I believe I saw that on Instagram actually for the USGA just the other day. If you touch the ground with the club, as long as you’re not making a stroke, you’re fine. Oh, that was filthy. Did you see that thing check? Oh, man. That was That’s such a tough little pin right on a knob. Just absolutely filthy. All right, that’s for six. Yeah. Okay. Oh, didn’t break. All right, back to all square. Right where we started. It’s go time. Back nine. Time to put the pressure on. I’m starting to feel a little better about my swing. Starting to get in the groove. So, feeling a little more confident and feeling like I can turn on the jets a little bit. Beauty. Thanks. Keep an eye on it. Right. It’s just a It’s like a free drop. It’s not supposed to be there. I think that’s supposed to be a wasteland. It’s like a wasteland bunker, but it’s just filled with water from all the rain. So that’s not a lake. So it’s just a It’s just a drop from casual water essentially. So I got 220 here. I think this pin is sort of towards the back. So, I think it’s only about 200 to cover the water. 220. It’s probably 225 pin, but I think a 210 shot is kind of what we want. So, I’m going to hit a five. Reach. Reach. I think that’s on the front. Yeah, it’s right where I wanted. Front right of the green. Give me an eagle putt. He’s lying three, I’m lying two. But that was a great shot by him. He’s got to got to look at birdie. So must cozy this up close. Option make tough putt up over a ridge though. So it’s anything inside 3 ft I’d be very happy with. Cozy this one up. Some good speed on a long putt. I’m due due for a good long putt. Oh, it just went so hard right. It wasn’t even close to the right read. Broke 10 over 10 ft. Good putt. Is it me or you? It’s you. Okay, let’s go. Thanks. Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. Clutch up, dude. One up. Putts are going to fall now. Oh jeez. Right after I get that momentum, I literally make my worst swing of the day and just block it straight right into the water. Oh man, this was a reachable hole. I could have put it right up in front and put some pressure. It just just a bad swing. Just got stuck behind and caught in between two swings there. Swing basically going right like right over this thing. Is that Yeah. Agreed. Sh my driver [Music] It’s pretty strong wind. I’m going to have to hit a little 56. I don’t if I hit a full That’s like a full lob wedge number. It’ll just rip back if I hit it. Stay, stay, stay. If we can get a make miss scenario, tie the hole. You never know. All right. So, I’m in for bogey. Colin has about 12 ft for birdie. So, I conceded the hole to him. I assumed he could two putt that. Uh, so back to all square. Just gave it right back after I got it. 17 pin here. Long par three. 217 into the wind. Right to left. Playing 230, he says. So I must I’m going to try and smoke a 4 iron. That’s pretty much stock 4 iron for me if I can hit it solid. Great shot by Colin here with probably a 5wood playing about 230. He knocks it to about 15 ft. So pressure’s on me. I got to step up and hit a quality shot. Fly. Yeah, thanks. I nuked that thing. Are very few holes that have been like, “Oh, just hit up there. You’ll have a good look.” It’s like pretty much every hole. Good challenge. Good challenge for sure. I pretty much have to try and leave it a foot short of the hole or 2 ft short of the hole. Barely have it rolling at the hole cuz I think if I hit it 2 feet by, it could go bye-bye. Settle. Settle. Subtle, subtle, subtle, subtle, subtle. Dude, look at that thing. I mean, that’s ridiculous. That is ridiculous. That is so frustrating. That was such a good putt. That was like barely moving at the hole. I literally couldn’t have hit that softer and like actually gotten into the hole. I would have had it just try to hit 3 ft short. And then you have a three-footer like sliding saddle. Same. Oh my goodness. What a putt. That’s what I should have done. I thought that was such a good putt, man. [Music] That’s so ridiculous. That’s good. the closest ones or it did though. It hit the hole. I saw yours too. Like I was There was no way. You had to leave it short. Yeah, you you hit it hard. But I mean there’s no way. You just had to leave it short. That’s the only chance to not get it going down. Okay, we got a really tough really tough drive here. Purely positioned. This is like a huge dog leg right around a lake. Looks good. Swing. Thank you. Good. Yeah, it’s fine. Yeah. 158. 158. Dead into the wind. Hit full eight iron. I think I’m going to play it like 72. Four up and then 10 of wind. Maybe good. be the number. Thank you. All square. A great match. It’s been a Yeah. back and forth match. So, it’s really tough conditions out here right now. Solid club, club and a half of wind. That’s swirling. Seems like it’s going a different direction every hole. And the And I mean, these pin placements, this one’s okay, but like most of them have been pretty diabolical. Let’s keep it going. Make a putt. Looking pretty straight here. Feed it. Just get it going. If anything, it’ll fall right. Almost went left. If anything, it like didn’t go right at all. Good putt. All right. Got to keep this right here. Creek runs through the middle. Oh, I think that’s right in that crossing creek. I didn’t see it bounce or anything. I hate this drive, man. Yeah, it’s a So there’s like a diagonal creek that goes across the middle of the fairway. Yeah. It’s like you got to hit in a tiny area or else just lay way back and have 200 plus yards in. Like that was right down the middle of the fairway and it’s it was 5 yards left of where I was aiming. Go. Yeah, I was hoping that it would fade and it just like went straight and then the wind took it a little. Maybe I should just hit driver on this hole and just try to hit over the creek and it’s like, you know, it is what it is. Thank you. Soft conditions. Oh man, that is a great break. I needed that. Needed that big time. So, we got 181. Real fluffy lie here. Easy to hit it high on the face and come up short with ball above my feet. Going to want to make it go fat and left. I’m looking at this going number one thing I can’t do is hit it right in the hazard. Your air has to be short left. Don’t follow up and compound an air. When my opponent is in trouble, you got to keep it out of the hazard. Number one, try and hit a little bunt. bunt cut. Same just what I said, high on the face. Just couldn’t take the take the chance of it squirting out right and going in the water. It’s just a real tough lie with ball way above my feet and it’s just sitting up so much. It’s so easy to go under it. You basically have to go like baseball swing to like clip it. All right. 42. 42. I like 60. I’m going to have to put some spin on it. Fly. Oh, that just ah I hit that so good. I just didn’t I landed at two yards short and it just hit that softest part of the green. All right, so Colin hit a great shot after the drop and he has about 5T for bogey. So this is my par putt. Uh I’m expecting he’s going to make that. So I’m looking at this like I got to make this to windmill. This is crucial. Let’s go. Thank you. Thank you. Oh, baby. One up. Reachable par4. Let’s try and put this up in the front bunker. It’s like 325, 330 hole, I think. Into the wind. If I can get in the front bunker, that’ll be a good spot. I think that should be good. Hit it so so far. Can’t imagine not into the wind. I don’t like this lie. It’s very tight. Very tight. Sitting down. It’s tight but soft. I’m going to have to hit 56° to give me a little more margin for air, a little more bounce. 46 yards. And land it somewhere near the front. Bounce it up. Yep. Perfect. Colin’s in for par. I have about six or seven feet left for birdie. This is it. I got to make this. Go two up with three to play. This is a must make a few down. So like 53. Sit. Sit. Thanks. So at this point, most of the other matches are finished. We are the second to last match out on the course. It’s close and uh everybody’s starting to gather around the greens and uh you know it’s it’s starting to get tense down to the end and we need this point. So really getting fun. We got a knob right in front 10 ft short of this pin that I just got to it’s got to go over it and then just like trickle down to the hole. So I probably got to try and hit this about 4 ft short of the hole to let it trickle out. Four to 5 ft short. That’s interesting. How’d that not go faster? So, this looked like it went over a knob and was just going to go straight downhill the last 5t to the hole. Uh, one of my playing partners hit from not a dissimilar line to the right of me just before me and left it 5 ft short. At that point, it kind of confused me because I was like, I’ve been hitting every putt mostly by the hole. Every putt’s been really fast downhill. It looks shiny. Everything’s telling me it should be very fast. and his putt came up quite a bit short. So, it put a little bit of confusion in my mind at that point, honestly. I did the exact same thing. You can see his mark there about a foot shorter than mine. I only hit it a foot past his mark. Left it at least four 4 and 1/2 ft short. It just didn’t roll out after it went over that hill. I just thought it was going to be straight downhill. It didn’t roll out. It came to a stop. I still don’t understand how it doesn’t roll down that slope with how fast the greens were. [Music] Same exact thing. How was that? How does that go left? Nice putt. dude. I thought I hit I hit both of those putts just how I wanted to. One up with two to play. Yeah, that just that was a gift. But I got to lock back in here, get my mind right, and uh and start hitting quality shots. Good. 92 thing. Don’t love this guy right behind it, but it shouldn’t be too big a deal. I’m going to have to hit a little 56 again. Just nudge it. So, Colin’s on the green about 20 ft away. I’m looking at this like I got to put this in there. You know, par’s probably okay, but I’m kind of expecting he’s going to make his putt. So, I feel like I have to birdie here to tie. So, at this point, I received word that we had clinched the cup. So, the team had won. Um, so my match technically didn’t matter, but I still wanted to win it. Like, this is for Pride at this point. I don’t want to lose. So, I’m still I’m still grinding. I’m still bearing down. I need to win this match. So, he’s got about 20 feet. It’s a must make. I kind of just am expecting him to make this in match play. You always got to expect the other guy is going to make it. You can’t be surprised when another player does something really good on you. So, I was just thinking he’s going to make this and uh and we’re going to have to go to the last hole. Great putt. Put that on your resume. What do you do on 18? I haven’t played it. So, it’s kind of funny. I hadn’t played 18 yet. I didn’t play a practice round and uh both my previous matches didn’t go to 18. So, I’m like asking for help like what do I even do here cuz there’s water down there. Do I hit driver? do I hit 3-wood? And ultimately decided, yeah, better idea to hit 3-wood, try to lay back cuz it narrows down right where I would hit driver. He hit a good drive down the middle. So, at that point, I’m looking at, you know, just get it in play and then see if I can go four and two or not. Right. This one says 217 to cover the water. The creek 204 might 275 pin. So really like a 190 club leaves me 100. Yep. And there’s no Okay. You see the bridge? Yeah. Like that side. That’s where you want to be. Your line. Okay. So I had about 265 to the pin into the wind. I wanted to go for it, but basically they were telling me that if I was at missed at all left to a to the left pin, I would be dead. And so I didn’t like the riskreward. I had to carry water. I couldn’t go left. And if you go too far right, you’re also in the water. So I had to hit in this little landing spot about 30 yards short of the hole to give myself a good opportunity. I decide probably better to just lay up and give myself a wedge and and know that I can hit it close. [Music] Thanks. That’s why. You’ll see when you get up there where the pin is. You don’t want to be left at the pin. Okay. Yeah. If that’s the case, then there’s not much room into the wind. I don’t really like that. Try and cover it with the driveway. He’s feeling himself. Oh, he did it. So, at like 115 to the hole, uh Colin had hit driver off the deck and he hit it perfectly. So, he was about 40 yards short. He just barely carried the water. Was about 40 yards short of the of the green. Uh in a perfect position to chip up the green. Not obviously in an easy up and down, but in a really good position. And so I’m looking at this like I got to knock this inside 10 ft and give myself a good looking birdie. Be good. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Thanks. Thank you. Execute. Thanks. Great shot. He had a great pitch there. Pitched it up to about four or five ft short of the hole. It was right on the line of my putt, so my putt was going to give him the line, which I was a bit bummed about. But, uh, I had about 10 ft straight up the hill. I got to make it to make birdie. It looks like it’s probably to tie. So, I got to make it to tie. That’s basically my my mindset. That broke. Oh, that was brutal. I gave it a good run, you know. I didn’t uh I didn’t lag it up there, but just I think got it started maybe a little left of my line and it just kind of turned a little further left. So, not really sure if it broke or if I pulled it a little, but bummer. Super bummer to miss that one. I really I really felt like I was going to make it. So, now he’s got about four feet to win the match. Great finish, brother. That was awesome. Super fun. That was a lot of fun. Thanks for coming out. That was fun. Thank you. Thanks. Good playing, man. What a shot. Welcome to the cup, brother. Pros. But guys, congratulations. You guys made history this weekend. Um, five in a row. Nobody’s ever done this in the 55. I mean, think about that. 55 years. Hard to win one of these in a row, let alone five. We got a talented group. Great group of of guys. A lot of camaraderie. It was so fun at dinner on uh on Thursday night. Um, really proud of you guys. So, enjoy this. And let’s start a new record next year with six, right? So, cheers guys. You guys play great. You represented us. Cheers. You guys represented us. So I mean you guys just classy group of guys, right? I mean really good group of not only golfers but humans. So guys, thank you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring for [Applause] email last night. All right. One, two, three. All right, guys. So in the end, that was an intense match. Uh, great comeback by Colin. In the end, I ended up losing one down. I had a putt. Um, just pulled it a little bit. Didn’t quite hit my line there on the last hole, but he had an amazing comeback and, uh, kind of let him in on 16 and then he took care of the rest. So, I mean, hats off to him. Great two birdies to finish, but obviously it’s bittersweet, but we did win the cup. So, I lost my match, but we won the cup uh, five times in a row, apparently. This was my first year, but we won it five times in a row. So, awesome. I’m super stoked for all the guys. Very happy to win. If you guys enjoyed it, do me a big favor. Subscribe to the channel. In today’s video, I take you inside one of the most competitive golf events I’ve ever played: the SD Cup at Omni La Costa in San Diego — a Ryder Cup–style tournament featuring pros vs. amateurs on one of Southern California’s most iconic golf courses. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to compete under real tournament pressure, today’s round comes down to the final holes, making this one of the most intense matches I’ve ever been part of.

Join me as I break down my strategy, course management, and mental game while navigating the championship layout at Omni La Costa Golf Course. This SD Cup showdown tests everything — nerves, shot selection, and clutch putting — and it goes all the way down to the wire.

Whether you’re a competitive golfer, a mid-handicap player trying to improve, or just a fan of Ryder Cup–style golf formats, this video gives you a behind-the-scenes look at what it feels like to tee it up against professional golfers in a high-stakes team event.

  1. So sick, first I’ve ever heard about this event. Who puts this on and how often is it played (annually)

  2. What a great round and a tough competitor Colin was. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this match and rooting for you again Nik.

  3. Great match and hats off to Collin for being a tough competitor. He obviously doesn't hit it as far as you do but knows his game and hit some great shots to come back. Of course you helped him on 17 by 3 putting but that's golf, live and learn.

Great content Nik, I enjoyed watching this at my work desk on a wintery day here in Michigan where we got slammed with 6" of snow. Cheers!

  4. loved this vid! Loved the format! Such an epic course!!!! Do you have any tips of how to stay in a good headspace and battle the metal game out on the course?

  5. I thought you had him. Great match. New sub and I’ve been watching your old vids. Great swing and great content.
