We are in London with a live audience to look back at the 2025 Formula 1 season, with a whole lot of silliness thrown in too of course. Greg, Betty and Christian are joined by superstar musician Sam Ryder and Sky Pad guru Karun Chandhok.

In Part 1, we will learn how Karun helps design future Formula 1 circuits, find out from Sam Ryder (a.k.a. Jesus) what it was like to experience the final race from Abu Dhabi itself, and one lucky audience member will be a participant on a special round of ‘Beat the Christian’.

Part 2 drops on Monday evening UK time, keep an eye on our feed, because there are plenty more surprises to come in that episode! 🤵‍♂️👀

This video was recorded with a live studio audience, apologies if it is a bit tricky in some moments to tell what is going on, but hey, that’s part of the fun of doing a live show.

be loud and like cheer and laugh until cuz it will sound [ __ ] tragic if it’s so loud. Hello everybody. Hello everybody. Welcome to the Fast and the Curious live. Yay. Oh, can I do the um can I do the thing the X Factor man used to do? Live from London. Isn’t it? And before it’s the Fast and the Curious Ridian. Do you Do you want some water after that or Okay. Do you need to lubricate the fruit or what? Was quite husky. That’s very husky. The Xand has not been on for about 10 years. And that’s the that’s the reference. That’s one of my newer references as well. So, tonight we’ll be mainly talking about Damon Hill. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Well, this is so nice. Thanks all for coming. End of year celebration for all of us and I’m so thrilled to be here. Also, thank you so much to Before the Lights for having us in this wonderful venue. It is very nice and intimate, isn’t it? They’ve given us they’ve given us blankets in case people get cold in this heated building. So, that’s nice. That’s lovely. There’s some sofas like an everyman cinema. It is a bit like an everyman cinema, isn’t it? Anyway, in case you don’t know, I’m Betty Glover, still here, still standing. H this is Christian Hugil. Oh, right. And you might know of this man sometimes likes to pop up on the fast thing here. Thanks for joining us today, Greg James. I’m always lurking. I’m always listening. I might not always be on, but I’m always there. You’re always there. I’m always checking up on you. Yeah. Yeah. I think it’s been an amazing season. Can I just say, aren’t these two just absolutely amazing? They really are. I mean, I genuinely prefer it when I’m not on this, but I’m just very happy to be here. But, you know, you two have you’ve gone from strength. This is your appraisal now. All right, good. Okay, we didn’t listen in front of people, are we? You two have gone from strength to strength. Thank you. And you you never did, but you definitely don’t need me now. Well, it’s so nice to see you. Is this an action you leaving? I’d like to say I’d like to make tonight about me. But no, I just think you’ve had an amazing year and the the the aim is always for this to be your show and I just think you’ve just you just boss it and and people love you and it’s so cool to see and what what a great year. And finally, we had an exciting year. Oh my god. I was uh This is a wig. I’ve been I’ve been tearing my hair out for two years being like, “We’ve launched in the most boring time.” Oh, it was awful. In the history of this sport. Oh, the first season. Oh, give us something. Explaining it to new fans. It’s like the same person doesn’t always bloody well win every soding week. Can’t watch this amazing sport where the same person wins every Actually, we should have put those in for BAFTAs. The acting we did alone in those first couple of years being like this is the most exciting race since the last week. Yeah. Yeah. Those race debriefs were they they were tricky. He won 21 out of 24, didn’t he? Two from Czecho and one from Carlos, wasn’t it? That was it. Can I can I bring it back to the now? Please do. Yeah, sure. And and Betsy, we really missed you on the the the final race debrief. We haven’t had your We haven’t had your hot take. It’s now it’ll be now lukewarm because it’s sort of My heart take has cooled down a lot actually. What’s she called? Well, you were very you were very hot on the day, weren’t you? Explain what you were doing. What was I do? Oh, yeah. I mean, no one cares about this. I do. I was doing a high rocks race. Those wankers. Don’t know if you see it. So, I was one of those. It’s a marathon for the Instagram community. By the way, is it is it um I I really like exercise up until it becomes a cult. And I’m just I’m always a little bit wary about that. I don’t very What’s going on here? It feels like sort of exercise for the Steven Bartlett generation. Yes, it is. And just to say, Jimmy, we said culp with an L. Yeah. Yeah. Not Not everything Not everything has to be uh Anyway, but anyway, I was in Verona and I got stuck in the airport. The plane was heavily delayed. So, I was sat on the floor at the gate watching the Grand Prix off my phone that was buffering. Can’t tell you how horrific it was. I hope you’re using NordVPN. Well, because at the The great thing about NordVPN uh is uh they don’t sponsor us anymore. Oh, [ __ ] them. This this shows you how No, no. I mean, people haven’t downloaded Pornhub now anyway. Yes. Anyway, for this live show, can I just say we’d like them back at some point in the future? They’re excellent. Excellent. VPN. I’m I’m more of a Gullivan’s Travel kind of guy. Yeah, these days doing a snoring company at the moment. We’ll sell Ellie old [ __ ] We really will. No, we love all our sponsors. Yeah, we do actually appreciate that. Things still to come tonight. A live ad read. So that’s You’re glad you came from Leeds for that, aren’t you? Just live ads to look forward to. Okay. Anyway, what do you think about the race? Well, we we’ll talk about that. You I want you to tell us what what do you make of Lando? Yes, we’ve not we’ve not had your review. Oh, well, uh, buzzing for Lando. I think he I think it’s really nice how throughout the season you saw loads of different versions of Lando and he was just sort of himself and he was honest about his feelings and he was struggling and he he talked about that and it was nice to see a winner that wasn’t just, you know, we expect sports people to be like perfect, don’t we? like they they have this special sort of image and he wasn’t like that and he still managed to get the job done. So respect respect. Yeah. For them. Yeah. Well, very well put, I thought. Yeah. Very nice. Yeah. Very nicely done. You’re good at this. Really would have been awkward if not. So, tonight then, exciting stuff tonight. So, we’re going to talk about the predictions that we made at the start of the season, which I’ve forgotten about. So, this will be news to me as well as to anyone else. Will be interesting. Uh we’re going to obviously talk about the season. We’re going to debrief it. We’re going to talk about all of the best bits, but Greg, we’ve got some amazing guests to join us. We do. We’ve got some incredible guests. I think we should get one of them out right now. We’re going to do some listener questions. Obviously, we’ve got some surprises up our sleeve as well. So many surprises. I’d like to introduce I’m nervous about this. One of our one of our long-erving friends of the podcast. He is a huge part of the sport. Has been for many years. Once as a driver. He now designs race circuits. He is a huge part of the Sky F1 coverage. Please welcome one of our absolute favorite people on planet Earth, Karun Chanduk. Well, this Hello. This is news to me. I thought it was Crofty. So, this is the food bill will be smaller. Lovely. It’s an outrageous gak. That’s all right. I’m still I’m still I’m still scarred. It’s been 35 days since your your Only Fans audition video that you posted on your Instagram. God, you bring this all the time. God, I haven’t I don’t know. Have you not seen this? I’ve got I’ve got him muted. I mean, there’s a niche Christian Hugal and coffee machine. Look it up. It’s there’s a niche there’s a niche audience for everyone. I My eyes are still scarred from that. I did a Tik Tok trend. You’ll be proud of me. Only took me three years, but I did one and it was that one. And um you did you also did it like a bit wrong as well which made it so much better. Oh I [ __ ] tried. Leave me alone. Honestly it is an only fans edition video I reckon. It’s it’s me. Yeah it’s the like sugar on your tongue Tik Tok trend. Where’s Nicola off of social media? We’ve seen that Nicola. It was very good. Wasn’t it? It was. Thank you. What? What? I really That’s Nicola saying 10. What do you say? 10 out of what? Yeah. 10 out of 10ish. the thing. Um, this is a good behind the this is good behind the scenes actually for the for the I’d call you the ultras. Um, in the in the early days of the Fast and Curious, I was saying to Christian like I would love it if you could just learn at least embrace Tik Tok. I remember this breakdown. I’m not doing it. I don’t want to do it. I don’t like social media. I don’t understand it at all. Um, and then I said, look, you’re everyone finds you don’t have to do embarrassing things. Cut to the coffee machine. It’s like you don’t have to do embarrassing things. You can find your little community and then it grows from there and it’s and then two Tik Toks in he was like this is the best thing ever. I’m having amazing conversations with people in China about stuff that might not have been the government but yeah strictly true still full of awful people but you know God and now but now you’re one of them and that’s no you as I said earlier as the appraisal great work on your socials this year. Thanks great um Just Karude then Karude, we haven’t spoken to you since the start of the season. So, let’s give us your overview. Did you enjoy it? Did you have a nice time? Did it go the way you thought it would go? Um, I I had a good time. I think it was it was a good season. As you guys said, we had a we had a couple of less interesting seasons. Um, and it was great. It was good to have a three-way battle all the way, you know, going into the final round. Um I think there were various points of the season where we thought it was going to be one driver or the other and it it kept changing as well. You know I um at the start of the year I thought Lando was going to this was this was made for Lando. He was went into it as the favorite. Car was in better shape than anyone else’s last year. He was more experienced. This was going to be his year. And then he had a shaky start. And I have to admit, when I got on the plane after Canada, you know, he’d run into the back of Oscar, they um he’d had 10 qualifying sessions until then, including some sprints. Uh and he made mistakes in five out of the 10 colleagues, and I thought this is this is not happening. This is going to be Oscars’s year. Um and fair play to Lando. He I think there were two weekends for me, Austria and Budapest, which were big weekends for his season. He came back from Canada straight to Austria, massive pole position gap, dominated the weekend. Um, and then Budapest, you know, he made a mess of the first lap, frankly, was was fifth and then managed to hold Oscar off under pressure and win. So, to me, those were the two key weekends for him. And in the end, after that, it became um, you know, kind of a two- horse race until the the Dutchman arrived like Jaws or T-Rex or whatever analogy you want to use. He made it good, though. It was great. Oh, you’ve got you’ve got to give it to Max. Was there a moment where you thought Max could do this or were you always pretty sure it was going to be all moments? Surely. Were you? But did you did you waver? I I I did after Brazil because uh Brazil was a big weekend I thought for Lando where he, you know, he he did everything he needed to do. 33 points on the board, stopped the momentum that Max had built up a little bit. I thought, you know, Mexico, Brazil were two key weekends. Um, but I mean this will be the should, would a, could championship really, isn’t it? Like what if Red Bull had a better car in the first part of the season? Max outscored Lando by 86 since the summer break. 108 more than Oscar. Uh, what if Lando’s engine didn’t go pop in Xanvol? What if Oscar, God knows what happened to him in Austin, Mexico, Brazil, I don’t know, maybe the distance from Australia or something, he lost his Northstar. I don’t know. But those three those three weekends were a mystery like just some other Oscar Pastry showed up and he you know he lost 46 points just those three weekends. So I don’t think any of them had a perfect season right we saw Max spinning on a safety car restart. When was the last time that happened? So none of them had a perfect year. Um but I think Lando was a worthy winner. Yeah. I wonder do it’d be interesting to get a show of hands or you can speak out of your mouth if you want but the the idea of is that what is that what you want do you want a should a would a could a championship ideally you you sort of want it to go right to the wire don’t you I think that’s kind of it that’s more exciting I think what’s happened is we’ve gotten used to championships where we don’t have reliability problems we don’t have sort of these bad luck and these weird seasons where rebel were nowhere and suddenly come forward But actually if you rewind to the the era where I fell in love with the sport, the center Manel Prost era, they were all blowing up. The engines were popping all the time. Tires were blowing all the time. You know, they all lost. They all had a whatif story. Manel would have won three championships if not for this. Prost would have won six championships, you know. So, I think we’ve just gotten used to these cars being bulletproof and, you know, drivers racing on tracks where you got massive runoffs and we don’t have these incidents. And so I I just think it’s in some ways it was a half back to to that era. Yeah, I like having different champions anyway. So we we have literally got a rock star just sat in that room. So I think we’ve probably got to bring him out because he’s going to want to get stuck into this conversation as well. Sam Ryder, welcome to the fast cure. Hey, please. Cheers. Hello. I got to say Jesus Christ. Seth, literally. Literally, I was going to come out of some incense. Ah, it’s perfect. It’s a Christmas show. We’ve got Jesus Christ here. This is for those that know it’s because you’re playing Jesus in the Thank you for the context there. I was begging just in case anyone was which is epic. What What are you doing here with us again, Sam? Um, no. I’m just mate I’m buzzing to come and chat with you. Thanks for having me again man. Appreciate it. Love the pod and karun legend mate. Uh good to see you. How are you guys doing? Everyone okay? Everyone enjoy the season again? Yeah. Thank god it was a good one. Jesus. Can we tell the story? We were just saying this earlier of how we first got Sam Ryder involved in this podcast where we were doing the first year we’d been to Silverson and Greg had had to go. So 2023 2023 and we were about to do our debrief podcast and we’d spoken to Sam over the course of the weekend. We didn’t know Sam anywhere near as well as we know him now or speak. I think I I had never met Sam before. No, no, that’s we met at the sort of in the car park if I remember right. It was but and Jimmy said we could ask Sam if he wants to come on. It was like yeah great. Let’s see if Sam Ryder comes on. Um thinking he wouldn’t thinking he’d be like just being in hospitality. Yeah. thinking he wouldn’t, but also thinking he’d be like most fans in the paddock where they know or celebrities in the paddock where they know a bit but they don’t know loads. Anyway, and we stood outside and we then we welcomed Sam to the show and we do the debrief and Betty asked Sam a vaguely Formula 1 related question and Sam sort of dives in with I think interestingly strategically today and me and Betty just look at each other like oh my god he knows more than most people in this paddock. I was talking bollocks. Is that you? I’m like looking why we like you cuz you fit in perfectly. I’m like looking at something like he knows more about this sport than I do. It’s like this is insane. Sam, you are a proper fan of this mate. I’m that in if it was 2023 that was when Oscar he was on the second row at Silverston and I was getting buzzing by that. I forgot because on that that would I remember being well excited for him because he would end up probably and I can’t remember if he ended up doing it or not but leading a lap for his first ever lap as a rookie. I think he did at some point right uh because of pits or something but yeah that was cool and then two years later fighting for a championship. It’s insane. It’s probably the point some people forget with Oscar that he has we said this on the D roof that it’s only his third season. Yeah. And and also don’t forget there was a high chance he could have end up at Alpine. I mean I think he’s burned the bridge there talking about sliding doors moments, right? Like you know it shows why and how the decisions you make outside of the car are super important for your career life and just Fernando. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And Sam, you were in Abu Dhabi, weren’t you? Did you enjoy it, mate? I loved it. the the race was I mean a bit flat. Um I think we were just discussing this it but it was kind of like everyone was playing it the safest they could possibly play it. Um putting Oscar on was like kind of I don’t know I think put a stopper in any hopes that Mac Max would back the pack up or anything like that. So it kind of felt a bit um yeah like I think everyone watching was just gagging for an engine to blow up. I think just some do, you know, something. And I’m so excited for next year cuz so many engines are going to blow up. I think it’s going to it’s going to be class. There’s going to be tears. Let’s get on to our predictions then that we made at the start of the season. Now, I don’t think you remember what you predicted, do you? I don’t. Sam, did you have a prediction? Yeah, I remember. And I’ve been so excited. Well, I was actually I was so excited halfway through the season to come back and do this because we sort of agreed to do this halfway through the season. I was veing incredibly smug with myself just waiting and then it all fell away. Well, I believe me and you both said Oscar. So Oscar was our prediction and I remember thinking, “Oh yeah, this is gonna look good.” Because I remember I said Oscar in our predictions and someone commented being like, “Oh yeah, you’re just saying that for a headline.” And I thought I’m gonna Those were the days when we those were the days when we were accused of being pro pedestri biased because it’s a long time ago now. What? Yeah. What what are we accused of now? Uh we well because we’re British we are we therefore are British biased now. That’s the thing. Oh I mean I get everything after every race. It’s great. I’m which mean I kind of feel like I’m quite balanced cuz the Lando fans think I I love Max and I love Oscar. The Australians think we are British biased. Uh the Dutchies absolutely think we’re British biased. Um and the Lewis fans just generally hate me. So because they feel like I they feel like I should be writing a daily letter to the FIA to give him his 2021 championship. Apparently I have the power to do that. Yeah. I do not. Oh, this makes you feel a lot better because we get broadly the same. Yeah. Okay. Good. No, that’s that’s lovely. Christian, you predicted Max Fappen, which we’re very two points away. I was two points off. I just sort of thought it’s the it’s the Jaws analogy. I just sort of we were saying at the start of the season, it’s McLaren’s year and people saying, “Oh, Red Bull won’t have the car.” And I just sort of was going, “Yeah, but defying any logic, he’s just going to pull it off.” And he so nearly did sort of exactly what I predicted. Yeah. His best season, I reckon, even though he hasn’t won, I just think he was great. He certainly he certainly the season he’s won so many more fans because I think his I don’t give a [ __ ] mentality comes across very differently when he’s the chaser rather than being chased. I think he’s always just so I like Max lucky enough to have spoken to him. I think he’s a nice guy. Like I like the guy and I think people struggle with his bluntness and his honesty and as I say I think that comes across quite differently when he’s not leading the championship. People think, “Oh, it’s refreshing.” Whereas when he’s leading, it’s, “Oh, it’s arrogance.” I think people see it differently. I I I agree. You know what? I really like Max. I’ve always got on with him. I think he’s he’s just he’s just Dutch, isn’t he? Just says what he thinks. Yeah. Just basically, you know, there’s no filter. He just he’s just honest. He just sort of and there’s no nonsense. You always know where you stand. He’s not one of these drivers like some others where, you know, one day of the week it’s like, “Oh, how you doing? How are the family?” the rest of the next day they’ll blank you. Yeah, Max is never like that. You always get the same he he’s consistent. He’s never g a [ __ ] about you. Is that you? Is that you scarred? Um no, and I just think he’s he’s been he’s been brilliant this year. Uh he he’s brought the championship alive. He’s, you know, he gained 102 points. He came from 102 points behind. It’s unbelievable. It was mad. Yeah, those it was so many of the Lady and he choked to death for the amazing. Yeah. I mean, he won six over the last nine races. Incredible, right? Sam, you also said that you think this is his best season. 100%. And I’ve grown incredibly fond of Max just this this year because I’m I just love watching him. Like I was I was about to say my favorite moment of the season, but I know you’re probably going to do a section like that, aren’t you? So, I’m going to save it. But um Oh, don’t don’t think there’s a plan. Is there not? Okay. There’s okay like well um no no I am going to say that shaking in the corner but he was just I I was speaking to some of the guys at Red Bull and they were saying the perception towards the team has changed drastically this season because there used to be such a I I guess like why that could be any any changes? It was their head of PR that was telling me nothing springs to mind. Yeah. Got this. Yeah, wasn’t there? Yeah. No, I don’t know what. No, maybe there wasn’t. No, no, but there aside from navigating this carefully. Uh, but they were saying like people uh, you know, it’s not uncommon for a lot of people looking at Max now that perhaps felt arrogance before going, “Holy [ __ ] he’s just magic.” He’s what he’s able to achieve is incredible, and I just want to keep watching it. Like, thank God for him in this championship. I think Red Bull were humbled a bit by the whole thing. Yeah. And it they had a a really stormy part of the season where they got rid of Christian and things was it was the to my tongue. Sorry. Things suddenly got a lot better. Oh yeah. I mean Lauris has come out this season like you know amazingly hasn’t he since since he took over and you have to give Christian some credit because you know a lot of stuff was put in the pipeline while he was still around but the rumors yes but actually the the way their season went up I just got that it took a couple of seconds that’s being edited out that’s Horizon radio. The investigation found no wrongdoing, etc., etc. I I’ll just I I’ll give you a pickup point. Shall I Christian? Yeah, go on. Well, I mean, but ultimately, you know, Max won more races than anyone else. He led more laps than anyone else. And he has emerged undisputedly as the number one driver in Formula 1. I don’t think anyone can dispute that. Well, I’m really shocked. Well, I’m not shocked by this. Karun, you guessed right. You said Lando, which obviously you’re always right. Greg, I don’t think you’ve got a prediction right the whole time we’ve done this podcast, apart from this one. Thank you. So, to celebrate it, that’s my British bias. Don’t know how you did it. So, to celebrate it, you can go and host a beat the Christian quiz. Hey, it’s time for beat the Christian. This is very exciting. I hate this feature so much. No, it’s great. Did I actually I said Lando. You said Lando. cuz I believe in Lando. After that win in Miami season before, I saw the whites of his eyes and I thought he could do this. He gets a little bit of luck and he got quite a bit of luck. Um, and well, no, we got everyone got a bit of luck this season, didn’t they? And and you need that in life, but I think he he thoroughly deserved it and he’s, you know, he’s a great champion and I think he’s going to be even better next season because of this. A confidence it must give you. It’s like it’s mad, isn’t it? Oh, yeah. I mean, he he’ll walk a little bit taller next to you when he, you know, I think he he I could go one of two ways, I think. Either you’re going to be like Oscar where this is going to make him angrier and hungrier to make it happen. Uh or you know, you look at the number of teammates who lost the championship to their teammate and they never quite recovered. Uh look at Mark Weber for example. Um you know, David Kulthard, you know, always ended up on the back foot behind Mikah Hackinan. So you could go one of two ways and I’m fascinated to see how both of them, you know, I think Lando will take a step up, but I wonder what this will do to Oscar. I know we’ve got to do the quiz, but there are there are so many in formul heaven forbid we don’t do that. Um there are so many people in F1 who do Karun, you’ll have heard them speak, you know, do think that Oscar’s got the highest ceiling, think that Lando had to do it this year because Oscar’s only in that third season and will keep improving. I think therefore Lando surprised a lot of people this season. When he did come back from that in the middle of the season, it looked so sure that Oscar was going to do it. He was on that run. He looked indisputable. I think Lando surprised people by being able to come back from that. The next thing will be those people that do say, “Well, no, Oscar’s going to keep growing and growing.” It will be for Lando to sort of surprise them again. And I think that’s what I’m really excited to see because I think Lando’s proved that he’d got more in his locker this season than some people had given him credit for. But a McLaren gonna have the car next season. We need to do this quiz for timing reasons. Yes, we will do some predictions. Did we just drop the quiz? No, no, no, no. We don’t drop the quiz. We will have some predict predictions for next season. And I’m really interested to hear what you all think about next season. So, we’ll um we’ll do that. But for now, welcome to Beat the Christian Live. This is the game that tests Christian Hugel’s credentials as our resident F1 expert. Why though? It’s a game. It’s a game he loves. For this edition of the quiz, he’ll be up against a very special guest. Please welcome to the stage Dominic Rogers. Can I just slightly afraid? I was going to say, can I just ask did we did we ask Dominic Rogers because the reaction of Dominic Rogers is yes not. put his name forward. I did. I did. So, there we go. So, so for the sake of this recording, I’m going to leave my seat and you’re going to come sit here. Okay, Dominic. Dominic, it’s about time I sat next to a professional. Come and sit down, Dominic Rogers. Everybody, Dominic Rogers, does he do? Yes, he does. Don’t bully the listeners. We’ve been We’ve been valuing this. Definitely got to come out. Yeah. Oh, that’s fine. He’s not gonna sue. Oh, but he might Roger. Where’s Sue? Now, the rules are simple. You’ll both be asked five questions about the 2025 Formula 1 season. Dominic, did you watch it? Yes. Did you watch it? I will say that um I probably should have done some revision. Uh you’re not you’re not the only one, Pat. No, we’re very very happy to have you here. So actually just tell us tell us your um F1 credentials. I see that you’re wearing a Williams t-shirt. So I guess you’re a Williams fan. Uh what have you made of their season? Fantastic season for them. Yeah, brilliant season for Williams. Um so I um sort of started watching uh in 20 sort of late 2021. So first race was the Max Stafen Lewis Hampton race. Um of course um so Karun’s fault. Yeah, obviously. Obviously. Every day that passes is a letter that could have been sent, isn’t it? Yeah. [ __ ] you, Karu. Could have been sewn up. I thought I’ll get typing now. You ruined the sport forever now. It’s still in the fax machine. All right. Sorry, Dominick Rogers. Um, yeah. Um, so I’m I’m one of the basically drive to survive generation. So, um, yeah. Yes. Which we celebrate on this podcast firmly. Yeah. Um, yeah. And you know, not not ashamed at all. And therefore, the questions were about the 1996 season. So, let’s hope that they are fairly re for my sake. I really hope so. Genuinely, the reason I hate this feature is cuz my memory is not my strong point of my F1. You’re stalling. Come on. You’re you’re you’re we love you. You’re great. You have two lifelines during the quiz. What kind of friend? You No. Well, you can call Karun. Oh, who’s uh over there? All right. Okay. If it’s like Millie now, I’m going to enjoy it more. I’m assuming this is me, not not It’s not you. What can I call Karun? The expert, Mr. You’re the you can’t call anyone. You’re the expert. What are you talking about? I love how excited you were getting about this. Oh, I get I mean, you literally you literally do work for Formula 1. You sit in the statistician’s room at the racetrack. You’re not helping. You You can call producer Jimmy. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Fine. Yeah. I’m not really excited then. Okay. So you can call you can call Karun if you like. Okay, you’ll be able to tap into Karun’s fountain of F1 knowledge and get his advice on a question that you’re stuck on. Or of course you can ask our wonderful audience. Okay, Christian, you’re not allowed to talk to these people. It’s best of five. Can I even do 50/50? No, nothing. Let’s begin. You won’t be able to see what the audience say. Thank you, Dominic. Yes. Would you like to co-host a Formula 1 Porch? Question number one. Hang on. So, how do Do we buzz in? What do we do? Put your hand up. How do you want to do it? Uh, you ask the question, they both give an answer. Yeah. And then we’ll Okay, great. Fine. They might copy each other’s answer. Shut up, Betty. Right. I I thought I was just a random member of the audience just being just retreated to the audience to heckle. Is that them? I’m in the time of a life. A blanket drinking a go. You’ve created quite an opinionated culture here with this podcast. That’s showbiz. Yeah. Yeah. Make sure I answer first. Yeah. Great. Question number one. It might feel like decades ago, but the season started in March in Australia. Who won the first Grand Prix of 2025? London Norris. Yeah, it was it was London. Yeah. Domin think Lando Norris. Yeah. Yeah. Corator was Lando Norris. Yeah. You need B and Greg. I forgot [ __ ] B. Not what says noise. I me. I’m not I’m not wid. You want to make a noise? Yeah, if you like. What noise you want to make? I don’t know. What noise you want me to make? Well, that’s I think you should do a Formula 1 car noise. And they’re not as loud as they used to be, are they? Yeah. Can we go back to the V10s? Yeah. The wrong was the wrong engine. It’s like when Newsbeat used a sound effect from 5 years ago as a niche reference, but anyway. Okay. Okay. You’re doing Yeah, I think we need a buzz. I’m going to buzz in. So, we’re going to buzz in. All right. Why don’t we say our name? Why don’t we say our name? Why don’t you all come and produce this? Okay. Ready? Question number two. Lewis Hamilton hasn’t had an ideal start to life at Ferrari. Christian. True. I get the point. Thank you, Alex. Thank you. Oh, that’s We’ll see you after the break. Class. Christian is now locked out of question two. But Dominic Rogers, why was he particularly, in his words, devastated during the Canadian Grand Prix? Think about can Canada the wildlife. around. Why? What? Oh, what? What? Poor groundhog. The groundhog on lap 13. You say correct. Question three. Could ask the same question again. It’d be Groundhog Day. Of course. I think it’s a minus one for that. Surely. Yeah. I take a 5second penalty. Yeah. I I’ll add it to the facts of sending the FIA. Give me give him a 57 penalty before he answers his We need better stewards. Anyone here interested? No. It’s probably Karun’s fault. Anyway, question three. Nico Hulenberg earned the first podium of his F1 career after finishing third at Silverston. How many races had he taken part in before finally getting Christian? 5 seconds into the top three. Uh Donet, I would like to ask some help. Ah, lovely. And a lovely use of the time penalty as well. Very good. This is a bad question. Hang on a second. We’re going to call Karun. Hi Dominic. How’s it going? Excellent. Thank you. I do need a little bit of help with uh what are you doing today? Uh yeah, so I’m currently on Fast and Curious Live and I I Oh, well I I need some help with question three. Um, this question is, how many races did it take Nico Hulenberg before his first F1 podium at Silverstone 2025? I have no idea, but I could I I suggest you speak to Christian Hugal. He’s the founder of our knowledge someplace. Or you you could ask the audience as well if he’s not happy with Karun. I have no idea. Literally. I I I think it’s pretty hard for the Well, I’ve got I’ve got more. Can I have a Can I have at least a go after my 5 seconds? Huh? Okay, so Oh, wait. I have an answer. Abu Dhabi was his 250th Grand Prix. Hang on. Two 259 8 was in Abu Dhabi. Oh, 250 was Abu Dhabi. Yeah. Right. Okay. Subtract. 239. You’re saying 239. That’s the correct answer. Very good. Very good. is so cross because I’m so mad at these twatting features and I actually worked that one out while you were doing Chris bloody tant and I’d actually got it. Carry on. Isn’t it Isn’t it lovely when he actually gets cross? It’s one of my favorite things. Question four. In August it was confirmed that Cadillac will be joining the grid in 2026. Please name the team’s driver lineup. Both names for a point. Sergio Perez, Valas. Hey, question for a bonus point. Who’s the reserve driver? Uh, Colton Hera. Yeah, you get you get so far. I think I going to give you a point. I feel I feel bad. Impression. Can I name the team principal to catch up? Yeah, if you want. Graeme Lab. Good. Good up. Good. Do you know Do you know that that’s true? Good on him. Oh, Lammy. Oh, yeah. Lammy. Bloody good to be pedantic, but a Corona can’t be the reserved rival. He doesn’t have a super license. Super license test. Just to be pedantic about this. But I don’t think you get a point for that. Taking the point away. There you go. Sorry. FIA rules. You’re basically alone at this point, mate. I disagree with Carlos Science. I think you’d be a [ __ ] steward. Jesus. Okay, it’s 42 to Dominic Rogers. You can’t just call me Dom, by the way. I can say I know I can. Question five. If you ever seen his radio shows, he’ll go for the low hanging fruit. Trust me, low hanging fruit is delicious. The Las Vegas Grand Prix always attracts some of the biggest celebrities in the world. But who waved the checkered flag at the end of this year’s race? Christian Beyonce. Incorrect. Uh, Las Vegas Grand Prix. Who was it? Can I just ask how old are you, Dominic? 20. 20? Yeah. I know who this is. Oh, I don’t think audience. Yeah, we’re going to ask. Please ask the audience. Okay, audience. Keeps the audience. The options are Beyonce, Terry Cruz, Katherine Zita Jones. Oh, well, I’ll go Katherine Zita. Katherine Zita Jones, please. I’ll go Katherine Delva, my nan’s favorite celebrity. Yes. Uh, it is Katherine Del. Must be about 72 up by now. Uh, which means actually you’ve won beat the Christian. You have beaten him. Jimmy, bring the trophy out, bro. Oh my word. Thank you so much. The trophy. Okay. You can’t actually keep that. No. The um that is a light that we found in the venue, isn’t it? Yeah. Tell you what, you’ve won this potted plant as well. Oh, you can take that. There you go. And I’m saying you can keep that. Well, Dominic, before you go, I want to get some uh I want to get some thoughts on the next season. Okay. So, what what what would you want to happen and what do you think is going to happen from a 20-year-old’s perspective on this sport? So, I’m a bit of a pessimist. I just remember going back to 2022 and I remember things I don’t know. I just feel like the teams are pretty spaced apart the start of rule set cuz some teams get it right and some teams don’t get it right. So yeah, I don’t know. I feel like the end of a rule set everyone converges but the start it might be not as So you think it’s going to be really dull? Thanks for coming on. Cheers. Yeah, there we go. Happy Christmas everyone. Dominic Rogers everybody. Thank you so much. Thanks Dominic. Betty, from an audience perspective, did you enjoy that quiz? I had such a good time. That was really fun. I’m glad I was going to ask if there was anything you changed, but you basically did the entire the entire time. I felt like I was almost hit control after that, actually. So, you guys did not have a lockdown. We’re we’re going to have a we’re going to have a little interval in a second. But before that, Sam, I wanted just to talk about your year. And I’m surprised that you actually get chance to even watch any Formula 1 cuz you’ve I mean not only you had an album, you did big Wembley show, you’re about to be in Jesus Christ actual superstar. Yes. This is it’s been a fun year for you, right? It’s mate. It’s been so much fun. And to answer your question, um I got to watch a lot of the races before the summer break, but after the summer break, it was basically like dodgy streams. Do you know what I mean? Like Yeah. Oh, no. Actually, [ __ ] them. No. Yeah, but you live you mean you watched every race with Sky Sports F1? Yeah, of course. Thank you for doing my wages for dobbing me into the bosses. You um you live part time in America now. Yes. And have you noticed since going back there quite often that there’s a a real like real growth with this for mate. People love it. Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. And I wonder if and I hope I live in Nashville now half the time. Um, I’d love there to be a race in Nashville because I could actually go and watch a race and not be streaming it um in an airport toilet. Is Abu Dhabi the only race you made it to? I made it to Silverstone to be fair as well. Yeah. No, never been to an American. Oh, are you joking? Austin’s my favorite race of the year. Austin my favorite race of the year. What makes it your favorite? The city is amazing. The the track itself is, you know, it’s only half an hour from the city. Um, and it’s it’s just it’s you always get a pretty decent race there. The crowd is amazing, but the Austin is the only city I go to in the States and I think, you know, I could live here. I would have moved to Austin. Absolutely brilliant. And we one of the best cities. We’re lucky because of the Austin, Mexico double header. We stay out for two or three days, you know, afterwards. Sick. And you go to the barbecue places and all that sort of stuff. Is it’s brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. One of the things I love about you, Karun, is that you also design race circuits and I’m really fascinated by this, which what are you working on at the minute? Um, from a nerd’s perspective, I’m just interested. So, we we were involved with Thailand, the the developments going on there, which um is slightly on pause because they’ve had changes of government and things like that. So, that’s slightly on pause. Um, but outside of F1, working on a track in in Canada, all the designs done. They’re in construction phase at the moment. But was super cool in the summer in August, I went there and they had these like um these buggies basically these rage buggies that you drove around the tour and I got to drive around the track which you know I’ve done hundreds maybe thousands of laps on my simulator while designing it and testing it and it was cool to actually drive around a you know living breathing circuit. Um and the asphalt will be down next year. So that’s cool. Can have a look. When you start it’s easy it just draw it. To be honest, you do start with just a with a blank piece of paper and go, well, shove a corn. That’s the shape of that’s the shape of the land. What can we fit in it? But then you you go into lots of different layers of, you know, how you how you have to make it work. It’s got to be good for for driving. It’s got to be good for overtaking, good for spectators. Um, you got to find space for the paddock and hospitality. Like there’s a lot of layers to it. And then you get the safety side on top. The Abu Abu Dhabi, we were talking about this Christian, weren’t we? That it’s not a classic. Well, I believe Karine helped them improve it. We did the redesign in just before 21. I was part of the team just before the 2021 season. Yeah. But you we you were saying the other day about the circuits that don’t allow that much overtaking. Yeah. I mean it’s but also what doesn’t help that is this current well now past generation of car where they are big and we’re talking on this pod about 2026. We’ll talk loads more about this in the new year, but the cars are smaller. DRS is gone. RIP DRS, but there’ll be a new push to pass system, the wings will move anyway. So, the FIA’s hope is that tracks like Abu Dhabi where it is more difficult to overtake, we’ll talk about that less because the long-term goal of Formula 1 is to bring the cars, you know, you you we lucky enough to have been to like McLaren where the line up the cars from years gone by and as you go back through the years, the cars get smaller. Well, F1 wants needs to go back to that point where the cars are smaller and more nimler and easier to race. Yeah. But I I also I actually think that tracks like Silverstone and Abu Dhabi have got the right balance now where yeah it’s overtaking. I mean Oscar pull off a fantastic move around the outside of of Lando the opening and actually the what we didn’t realize you know the TV direction followed rightly I think that the championship leaders there was so much overtaking happening behind you know we saw I think it was Bayman was in a fight was in a fight and Miami is a good example of that as well isn’t it that that was criticized in its first year the last two seasons you have been able to take And actually I I I do think you get races like Spar now where overtaking is almost too easy. Yeah. Just blast part. As soon as somebody gets closer at the first hair pin and lassos, you just know they’re going to get overtaken at the top of the hill. And I was like that’s a bit rubbish. I don’t want to know it’s going to happen. I I want it to be a bit of a oh maybe maybe not sort of thing. So I I think there’s a balance there. Betsy imagine you wanted to go to one of these races. What what would you do you think? Download NordVPN. No, no, no. So, no. The the the other one. Right. Sure. Sorry. I didn’t know where you were going there. I was like, I know where I’m going. To any race I want to, courtesy of our friends at Guliver’s Tra. I like your work, Greg. Yeah. Well, this is an advert from Guliver’s Sports Travel. Is it Christian? It is Greg. Hi. If you’re watching the podcast, you’ll notice their logo both in the room and on the screen. And the F1’s over after the wild title battle. And to be honest, it was a bit too much for me to handle. Hence, I’m going to retreat for the winter to calm down. I’m ready for a bit of a break, but before we know it, we’ll be staring down the barrel of the Australian Grand Prix and 2026 will be up and running. Hey, Greg. Hey, Christian. Hi. Hi, great mate. Are you going to be there this year? Uh, I don’t know. I haven’t signed a contract for next year yet. Right. Off the back of this end of this season, other people will be gagging to go to these races, there are probably quite a few new F1 fans or people that have been whipped up in the excitement and starting to think about heading to the race for the first time. New F1 fans like Dominic Rogers, of course. Yes. And that is where our friends at Guliver Sport Travel come in. Hey, I don’t know why I’m clapping. It says here I don’t It says here, “Oh, no.” I’m supposed to say, “Oh, no, it isn’t.” Yeah, it’s like a pantomime. Oh, right. Oh, fine. Oh, no it isn’t. Oh, yes it is. Oh, right. Yeah, cuz Christmas. I get it now. Yeah. Please, Betty, please round this up. This is awful. I guess you can say the Oh, hang on. I’ve got the logo. It’s behind you. Hey, I’m brilliant at this. Yeah, it’s such bad. Someone shouted you’re not. Someone shouted you’re not. He’s an Australian Oscar Pastry fan. I think British buyers just come to abuse me. Anyway, having been to a few races myself, Christian, we know that you often get lost when you go to races, don’t you? Not just at when I get not just when I go to races, just in life to be honest. You you struggle sort of planning your travel. You you struggle planning your accommodation. You don’t know how to get I’m a broadly incompetent man. Is this a different ad by now? No, no, we’re still on the same but it is a different day. This is why travel. You all right? You okay? You okay? I could have I going to be happy with this. Losers are going to hate this. There’s no point doing this cuz they’re going to they’re pulling out already. Yeah. I mean, this ad has gone on longer than the first Ashes test. Yeah. A Don’t don’t you start with that? Always. So I look at my phone during the cricket when England play. There’s always some [ __ ] from Karun Chi on there. Yeah, you’re you’re Indian when it suits you. You know I know the rule the kid my kids know the rule in this. It’s it’s been actually quite an emotional roller coaster. So have you finished your ad? Do you want to do you want you’re listening to Tail Enders Extra? Okay, let let me just get through this. 1. Max was the best driver of 2025 – out of the question. Charles and George close 2nd and 3rd, LANDO AND OSCAR HAD THEIR DIPS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND LANDO CAME OUT ON TOP, BOTH OF THEM 4TH BEST ON THE GRID. But do you really believe Lando was better than Charles/George this season?? Charles was pulling that tractor into Q3, put it on pole once and putting it on podiums and was so consistent, mind you – defending against Lando in COTA – for like 20 laps while he was in a rocket ship, putting him under pressure in Abu Dhabi, while Hamilton was exiting in Q1. George took 2 wins – the only times he could have won and almost completed every racing lap and incredibly consistent getting P2 for Merc. Hold off Lando to take P2 in Bahrain and Qatar.
But like MAX said that's life – the best doesn't always win. Like the great Senna said: "Not all champions are great champions" – occasionally you are gonna get one hit wonders at times like Hill, Button, just have to live with it in reality.

My point is: People don't talk enough about Charles and George and the season they had!! All people talk about is the top 3 and the rookies.

  2. As soon as they invited that Lando hater, Karun, on the podcast, I knew they were going to discredit Lando's deserved championship in order to kiss Piastri and Verstappen's ass, and I was right. Of course they invited ANOTHER Piastri fan, calling Lando's season "lucky" when he was the only one with a mechanical failure, was he "lucky" when he had to serve "repercussions" for causing no damage at all, but watched as Stella played favourites and brushed Piastri's double DNF crash under the rug without any punishment? Karun is STILL hyping up Piastri's overtake knowing full well it was planned… just another podcast to please the Piastri and Verstappen fans who are grasping at straws to discredit Lando's win.

  3. It's so funny how there is already one comment that says the hosts are bias towards Max & Oscar and another comment that says they're british bias.

The lack of self awareness is mindblowing

  4. 3:52 I definitely like F1 better when the best driver wins. Can’t stand when someone wins just because they have the fastest car…
