Welcome to our in-depth review of the Takomo 201 Iron! In this video, we dive into the features, performance, and overall value of these impressive golf irons to see if they live up to the hype. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the Takomo 201 irons promise to deliver exceptional results on the course.

What’s up, YouTube? Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Tacomao 2011 irons in the newest edition, a good play or giveaway. The rules are simple. I set a target score, and if I go above that score, I have to give away a club. The club that is on the line today is a brand new Tacomao Ignis driver. And today’s target score is five over. So, for the next nine holes, I’m going to be reviewing the 2011’s while seeing if I can shoot five over or better with just these clubs and a putter. All you have to do to enter the giveaway is like, comment, and subscribe. And if I do not hit my target score, this brand new driver could be yours. All right, here we go. Hole number one, 350 yardd par4. We have a 4iron off the tea. I’m not a big fan of these lines aesthetically, but let’s see how this performs. Kind of like a chunkier looking blade, like small profile, thicker top line. Gonna just try to hit a smooth draw middle of the fairway. Oh, I chunked that a little bit, but that’s gonna be just all right. Yeah, right in the middle of the fairway. Definitely a heavier swing. We’ll be fine, though. I definitely chunked that cuz that only went about 175. So, I’ve got another 175 out. We’re going to hit a sixiron up there. Bit of a blind shot here. Chunked it again. Not a great swing at all. Terrible. Got to get up and down. Those are two very chunky chunky swings. That’s the ugliest pitching wedge I’ve ever seen. Look at how like angular that looks. That’s a terrible pitching wedge shape. The Como 2011 is not not ideal. That is terrible. Okay, try to bump it into the hill. Yeah, that’s really bad. Okay, we got to get up and down for a bogey. Not a good start. With the target score of five over, a bogey on the easiest hole on the course would not be a good start. Got the Scotty Cameron zero torque putter. Oh, that’s a really good putt. That’s a really good putt. We’re going to get up and down for a bogey. Okay, that’s a bogey. Tough start. Honestly, not a single great shot there, but I guess a bogey isn’t a worst case scenario. Not ideal to bogey the first hole. We have a five iron here for a 200yd par three. I don’t know if this is enough club, but you don’t want to go long here. Kind of a crosswind. Just need to hit a good shot. or just chunk it. That’s such a bad golf swing. Like, I promise I’m not this bad. You know, bad things are happening when you have a uh sixiron after a 5iron on a 200 yard hole. Anyway, we got 175 to the back. Just should be a smooth six. so bad. I hate these clubs. All right, here we go. Got to get up and down for the par. We got a pitching wedge. Up and down for the bogey, I mean. Oh, that’s really bad cuz this is a terrible shot. All right, we’re going to have a long ass bogey putt. Ah, that’s such a bad start, guys. It’s just so bad. Okay, we’ve got a bomb for a bogey. I’m literally keeping my glove on because this is just such a bad spot to be in. Hoping for a miracle here. Go. Okay, this is one of the worst holes I think I’ve had on camera for the double. That’s just brutal. That’s just such a bad start. I forgot to add one caveat. This video has to get to at least 300 likes before I give the club away. That said, I’m three over through two. I have to go two over through the next seven holes. You got a great chance of winning the driver. Just like, comment, subscribe. I’ve got a four iron here. We have a 550 yard par five. This is a really challenging hole. I just need to hit a good shot off the deck here just to get the ball rolling. I got to say, you know, some clubs just like they visually make sense to you and inspire you to hit good shots. These are like the opposite of that to me. That just doesn’t look good to me. It just doesn’t appeal to my eye. It’s a really good ball though. Didn’t go very far, but pretty good forehand there. That felt really good. Felt good. Just Now, if you notice this blue glove that I have on, it looks familiar to you. This is a Bruce Bolt golf glove. It’s the same glove that the Brian Bros use. I don’t have a partnership with them, but they were nice enough to send me a couple pairs of their gloves for free. So, if you like, comment, and subscribe with your comment saying your glove size. If this video gets to 300 likes, I’m going to give away two brand new sets of the Bruce Bolt gloves. I don’t get paid to do this yet. Hopefully one day. But these gloves are phenomenal. It’s like easily my favorite glove I’ve ever worn. So, uh, Bruce Bolt, appreciate the free gloves, and two of y’all will hopefully get to try these out yourself. 300 likes. It’s all you need to get to. It’s not a lot, guys. 300. With that said, that four iron went 190. We are still a whopping 370ish yards out. So, I need to hit another good one. And we hit an okay one. They don’t feel great. They don’t look great. Who Who are these for? I just don’t get these clubs. Let me explain something that doesn’t make a lot of sense about the 2011’s to me. This is the 101T4 iron. This is a beautiful club. It’s insanely forgiving. It feels really good. I’ve tested this thoroughly and I love it. This is the 301 cavity back, the CB. It is a stunning golf club. The feel is like I mean the feel is ridiculous. It’s not incredibly forgiving, but like it’s honestly not that hard to hit compared to other blade looking cavityback looking clubs. It’s a great club. I don’t understand who this is for. the 2011. If I’m good enough to play the 301 CB or or let me rephrase, if I felt like I was too good of a ball striker for the 101TS, I would love the one the 301 CBS. They feel incredible. They’re so sexy. If I struggled with the 301 CBS, I would probably just go to the 101TS. This is like a weird blend. It’s like it’s a little more forgiving than the 301cbs, but like not a ton. It doesn’t look as good as either of the other sets. It’s not as forgiving as either. It’s just like it’s like trying to fit a gap that doesn’t exist. It would be like having a 56 degree, a 60° and getting a 58 degree. It’s like the the gap is not big enough. I don’t need something in in between. Pretty good, huh? Anyway, all that to say, we have a pretty lucky shot here. We hit this tree and kicked into play. So, we’re only 180 out. I’ve got a five iron cuz it’s 190 to the back. We’ve got to get on a bit of a hot streak here or this thing’s going to be over before it starts. Oh, that felt real nice. That felt real nice. And I kicked it. And I hit it. I thought that was so good. It hit. It’s in the bunker. I thought that was so good. Damn it. Got to try to get up and down for a par here. The challenge is we’ve only got a pitching wedge to do so. And it is the grossest looking pitching wedge I’ve ever I just can’t get over how like angular this one is. Pretty good out there. Pretty good out there. We’ve got a nice look at par here. We got our chance. Let’s get hot. Why not us, man? Why not us? I’m not going to lie. I really need to make this putt to have a chance here. Like I really need to make this. This is for the par to stay at three over. I got my trusty Scotty Cameron. Bang. This putter is insane. Review coming soon. But like Scotty Cameron entered the low torque, zero torque market with an absolute banger. Make sure you stay subscribed. Going to be launching a review on this soon. Best put I’ve ever tested. Now, according to Tacomao, these clubs are designed for 14 handicap to scratch golfers that like a forged feel with more forgiveness. These are a one-piece forged head and they are apparently a forge players cavity back iron. So for that player who still wants a bladelike forged feel that isn’t quite a good enough ball striker for a muscle back or a cavity back. Now these are made with a very soft S20C steel. One thing I noticed about these clubs that testifies to how soft they are, they get really dinged up in the bag. Like after a couple rounds with these, they’ve got nicks everywhere, which is like it’s whatever. But I guess that means the steel is soft. And when it comes to lofts on these, they’re pretty standard. The pitching wedge is at a 46°, the 7 iron is 32°, the 4 iron is 22°. So, not like a super super traditional, but definitely not like a loftjacked distance iron. Just kind of in the middle. That’s kind of where these clubs live. Just in the middle of of a lot. That was a pretty massive par to stay at three over through three. We have a par three. It’s 170 yards. I’ve got a seven iron in hand. We just need to hit a few good shots in a row. Have a few good holes in a row and we’re back in business. This shot is big. The skull over the green. I’m trying my best to give you guys a good review on these and like I know I’m not striking them well enough to give you good feedback, but like that’s feedback on its own. Watch my video on the 101TS. Like I hit those things so well. Something about the shape, the offset, the alignment. I’m I’m not a Tacoma hater. I I I’m pretty mixed on Tacoma. I love the Tacoma Sky for wedges. I think they’re incredible. I love the 101Ts. I love the 301’s. Hate the 101’s. I think I hate the 2011’s. Like I So far, I do not like these clubs. But we’ll see if we can change that. And also, let’s call out the fact like I’m not I’m a 13 handicap golfer. Not the best ball striker. I I I understand that, but my opinion still matters. We were able to do it on the last hole from the bunker. We’ve got to do it here from the rough. We are 10 15 yards long at the green. We got a pitching wedge. This is a brutal shot though cuz I got to land this on a downhill slope and I only have a pitching wedge. Got to try to open the face a little bit, but like would love a 60° right here. I think that should be pretty good. I think that should be pretty good all things considered. Let’s see what we got up there. Look guys, you can’t even make this up. Not only was that a good shot, once we got up here, we realized it was a great shot for the par. What an up and down. Just huge. Huge for the program. Two crazy up and downs. Let’s go. Okay, we’re three over through four. So, we got to go two over or better through the next five holes. This is a 380 yard par4. I’m hitting the 4 iron once again. I’ve said this before, but they have these like lines on these four irons, and aesthetically it doesn’t do it for me. I like a smooth smooth look, but that is just me. We’re going to try to hit a nice smooth draw here. Get something out there about 190 and have a good look in. Pretty much pretty much exactly what I wanted to do there. I hit it a little off the toe and you definitely got punished a little bit, but like we’re in a good spot. 185 out. Five iron. Oh, I always seem to do that every video. Let’s try that again. Five iron from 180 out. I can’t hit these clubs. I hate these clubs. I’m going to sound like a brat in this video. If this is your first time watching me play, you’re going to be like, “This guy’s just an idiot.” But like, these just don’t agree with me at all. I feel as though I say this on every hole, but here we are needing to get up and down with the pitching wedge. This time we are 50 yards out after chunking the absolute out of that five iron. It’s the one club I’ve been pretty good with today. The streak continues. Great look at par. I mean 10 feet, but this club, despite its hideous shape, how bad that shape is. It’s performing well. We need a miracle here. We’ve got about 15 ft for the par and we have to make it because this next hole sucks. Been very vulgar today. These 2011’s are making me feel very vulgar. Go. Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Oh, I love this putter so much. Oh my god, we made it. Oh, let’s go par. We’re somehow staying alive in this challenge. I I don’t know how. We’ve got a 373 yard par4. It’s a really tricky hole. You have to really place your first T- shot. Then you have to go over a ravine. So, this T-OT is huge. I only have two shots to play with the rest of the round. And I haven’t exactly been striking the ball too well. Here we go. Four iron again. Just one good swing and we’ve got a chance on this hole. All right, first part of the challenge is complete. Perfect T- ball. We gave oursel a chance. Didn’t feel great still. I’m missing a lot of these off the toe, but we are we’re in pretty much the best position you can be in on this hole. It didn’t hit that actually as great as I thought, but we’re in a great spot. We’re still 200 yards out, though. That’s the problem. Ah, 192 out. So, I’ve got another four iron. Once again, if I get on the green here, like I’m going to start to believe a little bit. Very tough shot. We’ll see. Just hit a smooth one. Don’t need to crush it. Oh, I pulled it just a little. Nice strike. Just left of the green. Little bit short of pin high. I don’t hate that shot. Again, towy. Something about about these clubs. I’m off the toe, but I don’t hate that shot. We got a chance. What I was referring to earlier, I don’t know. I’ll put better footage in here, but like these get so nicked up in the bag. I think it’s that soft steel just from sticking them in and out of the bag a bunch of times. They seem to get uh pretty hammered pretty quick. Haven’t had them that long. I mean, you know the drill by now. Pitching wedge. Got to get up and down for the par cuz I missed the other shots. Yeah. Let’s do it again. Just shy of the green here. About 40 yards away. You’re going to roll one up there. Little wet though. It’s just so good again. Go in. Go in. Go in. I mean, we’ve got like four or five ft. This club is like, it’s just doing it for me today. We got a good looking par here. I don’t know what the going on. I need to stop swearing. You know, I used to not swear and then I turned four. Guys, this is like genuinely this is pretty crazy. Like I don’t get up and down like this with a with a normal wedge. This is I don’t know what’s going on, but somehow someway that is another par. Like what the heck is going on? Hey, one quick thing about this Scotty. It doesn’t have a ballparker upper, you know, like a scoopy whoopy. Big miss. Big miss, guys. Like somehow someway we are like we’re in this thing. We only have three holes left. I’ve got two strokes to play with after a little par streak. This is only a 316 yard par4. We’re going to hit the four iron once again. to kick things off. There is mud on my ball. I’m going to tee this one up a little, too. Let’s just hit a good ball here. One good swing. We’ve got a good chance. Like, that’s pathetic. I’m chunking these. I don’t chunk the ball that much. I don’t h We got some freaking work to do, man. That hole just became a lot longer. Did you see how bad that swing was? I hit that 51 yards. That’s so bad. Okay, sixiron. Just get something in play. Treating it like a par five. A bogey would be quite a win here. Yep. Great ball. Great ball. Okay, we’re in business. Up and down for a par. We’ve heard this before. We’ve done it before. This time I’m going be a little bit farther away. But that was a pretty good That was a nice feeling sixiron. That was well hit. Center strike. Straight ball flight. Polar opposite of the swing before it. Lovely little 185 yard sixiron. We’ve got 65 out. Pretty tough shot here. I’m not going to lie. Not the best lie. Not much green to work with. If I can get on the green or if I if I can get a bogey here, I’ll be over the moon. That’s all I want. Oh no. Oh no. It’s in the thick stuff. Oh, we got work to do. Oh, we got work to do. Once again. Oh, once again, this is not looking good anymore. I have to get this up and down for a bogey. 300 likes. You’re eligible to win the driver and the gloves. Help me get this 300 likes. Help me. Help me grow this channel. Okay, I’ve got the pitching wedge once again. Downhill green. I just barely got to get it up there and then I got to make a putt. That’s so bad. Oh, you idiot. That is so bad. Okay. Okay. Up and down for a double. Oh, this could get really bad. This has gotten really bad really fast. This is a blow up. Bump it up there. Just going to putt it. Putt it with a pitcher wedge. All right. It’s pretty good. Got to make that for a double. Here we go. This is a huge putt. This is for the double, which means we just have to par out the last two holes, which are not easy holes. That’s a good part. We are in a world of hurt. World of hurt. We need a miracle. Two holes left. We got a par three and a par five. And I need to go one under. Not ideal. Anyway, this is a par three. It’s like 135ish. Going to hit a nine iron here. This is where the birdie has to happen. Like par five with just irons is just unlikely. Oh, I think I like that. Okay. Okay. We got a chance. We’re just off the green, but that’s makeable. We got a chance. Maybe. I don’t think we have much of a chance. Okay. We are just barely on the fringe here. Very makeable putt. Going to be a little slippery down the hill. This is huge. This could be it. Oh, I just missed. And now I’ve got 20 ft back up the hill. That was inches inches away. And now I mean I felt like I had to give that a run. Like that was my chance. And we got this for the par back up the hill. Oh, that was so close. I cannot grab the ball today. Painful bow. Painful. Painful. Painful bogey there. Puts us at seven over. I need to eagle a 500 plus yard par five with just sirens now. So, uh, let’s get this to 300 likes cuz someone’s someone’s winning the driver. A quick shout out to Ken Wesserman who won the last Tacoma Ignis giveaway. So this will be the second of these that I’m giving away on the channel. Again, like, comment, subscribe, and as soon as it gets to 300 likes, assuming I don’t eagle this next hole, you will be eligible. Now, let’s wrap up our thoughts on the 2011 iron. Now, out of the gate, I want to call out the fact that clubs are very personal. What somebody might love, like it’s like one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. So, everything I’m about to say is my personal opinion. take it with a grain of salt given I’m not a pro. Here’s my problem with the 2011’s. I don’t understand who they’re for. I just think the 301 CBS are so awesome and I think the 101TS are one of my favorite iron sets that I’ve ever tested. I don’t see anyone that would fit into a category where you would rather have the 2011’s over those two clubs. Like if you’re good enough to play better than 101TS, go to 301cbs. And if you’re not good enough for those, the 101Ts are phenomenal. They look better. They sound better. I just don’t like the 2011’s. On the plus side, they are incredibly affordable. Just like all Tacomao Clubs with the direct to consumer model, they look okay to some. I don’t like the design. They’re just not for me. And I’m not sure who they’re for. And that’s like the key question I just can’t get over. It’s like who where is the market for these clubs? Like why would someone? So, if you are playing the 2011’s and you’re passionate about them and you really like them, I’d love for you to comment down below like what kind of golfer you are and why they’re a good fit because I’m I’m open-minded and I’m just I’m genuinely curious. Well, just for the sake of seeing where we end up, we’re going to finish this last hole out. We’ve got 500 yds, par five, four iron off the tea. See if we can finally hit a a pure 4 iron. Like, I don’t hit the ball like this, guys. I promise you. I promise you this is just they just don’t work for me. This just You know what? Thanks for watching this video. Remember, these are the good old days. I’m JC and this is good old days golf. Just assume I got like a double bogey on this. Like these clubs. This video is over. Make sure you like, comment, subscribe. We’ll see you on the next one. Peace.

  1. Its not the clubs, you were coming out of your posture repeatedly. I've played the 201's for over a year, and they play equally to the big brands. You may need to work on having an open mind. people that can really swing a club can do it with any set of clubs!!

  2. I immediately subscribed from the first video I saw a couple months ago. Love how you actually play with the clubs. I’m very new to golf but I can’t help but laugh at your misplays, only because I can’t relate more. M/L gloves if I get picked. And keep these videos coming!

  3. Dude, you really need to get lessons and fix your swing before you review any clubs. You're not giving an accurate review of clubs when just by your swing alone I can see that you should not be playing these irons… Please just stop!!!!! The Takomo 201 irons are as solid as they come, my friend has a set and I have hit them several times and they have a great feel and the lines are nice and allow for great turf interaction.

  4. I play the 101ts and always wondered what the 201s were like. You’ve convinced me to stick with what I have. Love the 101ts. Great vid. My glove size is XL.

  5. I usually go a M/L for gloves. Bruce bolt makes great baseball gloves so I'm sure the golf ones are fantastic. Great video!!

  6. Love The content bro. Your 101T review sold me on them should be here any day now. Keep up the great work!! Also glove size is M/L

  7. Love the honest reviews! I actually had the opportunity to hit 201’s that a friend has and I felt the same way. Could not hit them well at all. Oh, size medium on the glove!

  8. The wind up and almost club throw on 9 summed up these clubs perfectly! When I was looking for new clubs I’m kinda glad I skipped the Tacomos altogether. I had bought into Grant Horvat and the Bryan Bros singing their praises, for obvious reasons since they own part of the company, but kept seeing more and more bad reviews so decided on something else. Keep putting out these great videos. Glove size M/L in case I get lucky.

  9. Definitely improving, I honestly think if you don’t like what you see you won’t hit it well no matter the brand. ML glove worn on RH. (Lefty)

  10. Just took my new Sub 70 659 TC's out today. They feel amazing. Shot 7 over at a shorter 18 hole local course. I'd recommend a review of those for sure, especially since they do the demo club program. Very reasonably priced.

They have a similar issue with getting a little dinged up in the bag, but they feel buttery soft when you pure one, but give enough feedback to know when you've mishit.

M/L Glove Left Hand btw. Keep up the good work! Loving the channel.
