I Competed in My First LPGA Event

Here’s Kai Trump, high school senior going to play at University of Miami next year. And this was maybe the most impressive shot she hit yesterday was this T-shot on 10. It’s not an easy T- shot. Another birdie for Kai Trump. Her second. Tomorrow is my LPA tour debut. That’s crazy to say. you big blowout. What kind of caddy is this? [Applause] I’ve played so much golf. She had the biggest crowds out there. So, the main part about this log is I am playing in a LPJ event. It’s kind of crazy to say. I’ve been practicing a lot. I mean either way I practice every day for however long after school. But yeah, I’m playing an LPJ event and I think that’s really cool to say. I’m obviously very lucky that I get the opportunity to play um at this high level, especially with these amazing players. Obviously never done that before. And past 2 weeks, you know, I’ve been working my butt off like a lot. It’s nothing new. I haven’t changed anything. I haven’t done anything differently. I’ve just been kind of doing the same stuff that I’ve been doing and just ramping up a little more. just focusing a lot on putting like spending more hours practicing. I have spent hours and hours and hours on putting green. And I think that’s the biggest thing. It’s like I can ball strike any golf course. It’s really the putting and chipping. I got to just get that dialed in a little. We’re a week out. It’s Monday right now, meaning next week I’ll actually be at the event. And I would be lying to say if I wasn’t nervous. I’m so nervous, but like I’m literally giving it all my all. Like I am giving it my all. My practice, everything, eating, all that stuff. like I am giving this tournament like my all. Yeah, there’s been a lot of comments especially I would say like in the news and whatnot and people are like well is she good enough or she shot this over at Junior Invitational but also there’s a lot of positives you know and I think that’s what happens when you know you get these invitational that’s also what happens when you’re just out there like you’re going to get love and you’re going to get hate and I think the biggest thing that I’m looking forward to this event is just testing myself and really seeing what what I can do under pressure This is a great time to really just experiment and see what I can do. Um, and I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity. I want to start my vlog now. I didn’t want to start two weeks ago. I didn’t want to start 3 weeks ago. I didn’t want to start a month ago when I found out. Um, and I didn’t want to start back then because to be honest with you, I really wanted to focus a lot on, you know, my plans. Obviously, I was playing high school golf with my team. I sadly I can play districts or regionals and because the tournament was actually the same time as states and that was going to be my last states ever, but obviously having an opportunity like this is massive. So obviously I took this opportunity. I have a pretty good feeling about this one. I think I’m going to do well. Um I bought a camera and it’s kind of crazy to say I bought a camera because I just filmed everything on my phone. If I was using a camera, it would just like be like my camera crew. I was like, you know what? Like I want to also make the vlogs better. I want to make them more personal, all that stuff. And I thought by doing that, you know, getting a camera would be a first step. And obviously, it’s going to be better quality um than my phone. I even bought a mic. I just set up this mic. I don’t even know how to do this. Like, it’s I got one of these and set that up. I have a whole box of camera equipment. Put this together. Have a big lens on it. Um actually, I’ll kind of show you guys. Look. Oh, can you guys see the setup that I’m using? You see how big that camera is from the side? Yeah. Well, I got that. Um, hope you guys enjoy this vlog. It’s going to be a good one. Um, it’s going to be, you know, more personable, I guess you can say, than a lot of the other ones, just because this is like a huge point in my golf career. I’ll get you a tripod. There’s a little tripod thing in here. There’s a bigger tripod than my trunk. I don’t want to walk around with a tripod. K. I have a strap so I can put it around my neck. Yeah. That was softer. I mean, speed’s not terrible, though. I mean, these were like That was just misread, right? That’s just underreading the brake. Awesome. That was a very condensed stroke. They look bad from the back, you know. Take your time on these. You get in there, pick your line, adjust your feet and shoulders, everything, and then roll it. Bang. Sweet. Well, one thing I noticed it’s actually it’s faster back, slower through. Yep. A lot of the best putters. Does that make any sense? Yeah, absolutely. That was just bad. A lot of people don’t know this, but you actually really shouldn’t be accelerating into the putts. Your your putter should actually be stopping, slowing down. A lot of the best players in the world like Jordan are quite known for that kind of tempo. Yep. Yeah. Like it feels like I can actually bring it faster back. But it’s like a controlled. It’s very controlled using the big muscles. You’re not swiping it back there. You’re rocking it back there. Money, money, money, money. This is for all the marbles right here. If you mess up, you’re going to do 10 more. Ice cold right there. I’m goated, guys. I’m really good at golf. Stone cold. [Music] So, it’s before the tournament. I’m really nervous, but I actually wanted to come on here and say and to actually talk about these new golf shoes I’ve been wearing. They’re called Olkai golf shoes. They’re amazing. Um, I actually love them. They’re white and leather. Took them off. They’re white and leather shoe, but they’re actually so comfortable and I love these shoes so much. I’ve been wearing them on the course. I’m obviously going to be wearing them for the LPJ event, but um I’m feeling ready for the event. I’m looking forward to it. Um it’s going to be a lot of fun. I am very very nervous, but yeah. So that’s actually been hitting it really well. Go and check out old Kai and get yourself pair of these shoes. What’s up vlog? Um yesterday I was with Alan. We practiced um and now today we’re going to practice again. And I’m going to go see Alex now early. Yeah. And then we’re going to go to the golf course afterwards. Practice even more. I’ve never practiced more in my entire life than I have in the past like month since I like committed to the tournament. And it’s crazy. I definitely respect the grind from all the LPJ players and even PJ tour players. And yeah, it’s it’s impressive. You know, I’ve come a long way with a few things. It’s crazy how just focusing on really really what you need to work on and kind of the stuff that you’re good at just kind of letting that be. It’s impressive to see like how far you can come. Tomorrow when I leave I probably won’t be able to practice in the morning. So yeah, I’m just going to get my last little grind in right now and then also when I go to the course I’m going to practice a lot. But this is my last like little prep, I guess you could say, for going to the tournament. So, I’m excited. I’m not going in there expecting to win, which is honestly I feel like I’m not going in there expecting to win. And I feel like no one else is really having that like on me, like that pressure on me, which is nice because now I feel like I can just go out there and have fun and just really get the full on experience cuz also that’s what I want to do one day. So, it’s cool to be able to do that now when I’m 18 years old. I’m a senior in high school. So, yeah, that’s the game plan. All right. So, made it to Alex. Now I am on my way to the golf course. Just had an Alex. I’m like feeling tired. I don’t know why. Just something about me just like don’t feel great right now. I don’t know if I’m coming down with something, but I kid you not. Like I don’t feel great at all. So, heading to the golf course. I want to change my golf clothes, work on some things, and um grind grind grind. I’m going to call Allan right now, actually. You’re never going to be 100% and there’s always something to work on. And I think that’s what kind of keeps on bringing me back to play golf and practice golf. Future Kai, um, I hope you I obviously hope you played well, but I hope you enjoyed it. Hope you enjoyed the experience out there because you know you are playing on the best players in the world. Like this is like the top tier you can get like your best experience playing in this event. Um and just enjoy it. Take it easy. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Some bad shots are going to happen. Just roll with it. Hit better shots from those spots. Um and just have fun. Go out there and just enjoy yourself. And that’s Yeah, that’s my advice to my future self. Um it’s kind of emotional. Yeah, I’m just looking forward to playing. I’m very proud of myself for being able to have this as an opportunity. So, it’s pretty cool. Um, I can’t wait to go out there tomorrow. Um, can you talk a bit about making your first appearance in an LPJ event as the youngest player in the field? Yeah, I mean I was definitely more nervous than I expected. Um, but you know, I thought I hit a lot of great shots out there. Um, I hit a lot of good shots just to the wrong spots. Um, and obviously being, you know, my first LPJ event now, I kind of know how it goes and I felt like a little out of order in the beginning, but I kind of got it going afterwards. Um, and um, yeah, I mean, I learned a lot. It was It was amazing. I had a great time out there. All right, guys. So, we’re back in the hotel room. I shot 83 today. Didn’t do so bad, but didn’t do great. Um, for the first round ever, I say it was pretty good for LPJ event. I thought I hit it really well. just, you know, kind of messed up a few few shots here and there, but um I had a great time out there. I learned a lot. I’m just doing my rehab stuff. She hit the biggest crowds out there. And this was maybe the most impressive shot she hit yesterday was this T-OT on 10. It’s not an easy T- shot and she admitted to being exceptionally nervous and she just striped it. Second shot to the 18th. Made par here yesterday. She talked about how she was thinking about this shot for a while. It’s such a nerve-wracking shot. Good line here. Just a bit left about that one. one of the best of the day. All right. Hey vlogs. So, pretty much um as you guys have seen, I obviously played in LPJ event, which was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in my entire life. It was awesome. Like, I enjoyed it so much. I think the first day I was so nervous. I’ve never been more nervous in my entire life. And I didn’t know what to expect um at all. So, obviously, you guys can kind of tell like the first day I was really nervous. and like all my like everyone like that was like in my circle that was there were like yeah like you weren’t talking like you weren’t being yourself and I just was so nervous you know I obviously went in I prepared as well as I possibly could have but I didn’t know what to expect I didn’t know what kind of the pressure would be or what kind of like how were like the nerves going to be or anything like that and to be honest with you it was tough it was really tough the first day like I struggled like I felt like I couldn’t even feel my hand to like the 15th fold like I’ve never been more nervous in my entire life and then the second I don’t know why I just wasn’t as nervous. Like obviously, you know, um I kind of felt like I belonged there a little more, but I also felt like I got the hang of everything um the first day and then going to the second day just made so much easier. Um obviously the second day like highlights or I almost made a whole one. That was pretty cool. I almost made a whole one to win a Lambo, which is like insane. And then I hit a lot of good shots. Like my two shots on 18 were amazing on both days. It It was amazing. Like it was so cool. And I’m so thankful uh for um the LPJ to um obviously gave me the sponsor exemption as well. And it was definitely like a dream come true cuz this is what I wanted in the future after college. So it was really cool to get like a little glimpse to hopefully what my future’s going to look like. I have so much respect for oldest players out there and how like how good they are is actually insane. Um, and obviously, you know, I’m only a high school student, so like I still have a lot to improve on, and now I know what to work on, and I’m going to keep on working on that. I felt like there was like a lot of positives to take away. Even from the first day, even though I didn’t play the way I wanted to, there was a lot of positives to take away. Um, it was just awesome. And um, I hope you guys enjoyed. I didn’t I tried filming as much as possible. Um, I think majority of you guys watched the pram, which was that Wednesday before. That was pretty cool. I made like a very long putt on I can’t remember what hole. Maybe it was Don’t quote me on this. I think it might have been 15. I made a really long putt on the part three for birdie. That was cool. The course was amazing. Everything everyone was so nice and I’m so happy that I had like my closest people to me there and supporting me and everything. So, I’m so thankful for obviously for them all to come and everything. Well, I hope you guys also enjoy this video cuz this video is going to be something very special to me and I’m obviously going to look back in a few years and watch this video.
