Golf legend Tiger Woods has been out of the competitive golf scene for a while now. He has been sidelined by a string of serious injuries that stretches back to a 2021 car crash and includes multiple back procedures, a torn Achilles and other surgeries that have repeatedly interrupted comeback plans.

Woods’ most recent spell on the sidelines began after he ruptured his left Achilles tendon during training in March and underwent a minimally invasive repair at the Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In October, he elected to have a lumbar disc replacement, his seventh back surgery, to address severe pain and limited mobility in the L4-L5 region.

While major-tournament starts are still in doubt, Woods has kept a public profile through off-course projects. This week, he turned up in a polished promotional spot tied to PGA TOUR 2K25 that is being shared on Nintendo’s social channels and the game’s official feeds as the title heads to Nintendo Switch 2.

The short commercial leans on a light comic touch. Woods is shown sizing up a tricky par-3 before revealing he’s actually playing the PGA TOUR 2K game on the go. It reprises his role as a cover athlete and in-game pro.

He also recently surfaced at his son Charlie’s Florida state championship tournament, walking the course with family. Charlie Woods shot a two-under 68 in the final round as The Benjamin School closed out a multiday victory. Charlie Woods finished fourth in the state tournament as an individual.

With all these recent appearances, fans are curious whether Woods will make a return anytime soon. Though it looks unlikely this year, he could turn up at professional events next year if the health problems subside.
