It’s been a long time since Texas fans have cheered for their team here. It’s the Longhorn’s first game at DKR in six weeks. It’s been a lot longer since a Vanderbilt team played a game in Austin. This is the Commodore’s first visit to the Texas Capital since 1903. A big game for both teams. major college football playoff and SEC implications as number nine Vanderbilt takes on 20th ranked Texas. So here comes Texas with Arch Manning at quarterback. It was a question during the week he left their come from behind wid Mississippi State facing a very solid Vanderbilt defense. Manning comes out swinging to Ryan Wingo down the far sideline. He’s going to go all the way on the first play of the game. 75 yds and a Texas touchdown. shades of last week when Wingo had a huge play on the first possession of the game for Texas on his way to a careerhigh 184 yds receiving. And here’s Mason Shipley for the extra point [Applause] and it’s seven to nothing. It’s a great job by Arch Manning recognizing the pressure that’s coming off the edge. It’s also a terrific job on the outside the way it’s blocked. And then all Wingo has to do is beat Patterson, the linebacker, who’s working from inside out. He makes a miss and he’s out the gate. Herd takes a poor angle and nobody’s going to catch him. Just an outstanding start for the Longhorns. [Applause] Couple of fatal missed tackles for the Vanderbilt defense. Last week in Starkville, Texas scored on an Arch Manning run less than two minutes into the game, which was set up on a 62 yd pass play to Wingo on a similar play down the right sideline. Alexander powers ahead for the first down as a running back. Javia, their leading rusher in total. Colin Simmons the pressure and Texas has the ball inside the 30. Colin Simmons at the end of the line of scrimmage. He’s watching in the back field the whole way and the mesh happens so quickly. The read from Pavia happens so fast that he can’t quite get it up into the belly. Instead, it’s out away from his body where Simmons can swat it with that right arm and dislodge the football. And the horns in business at the Commodores 29. It’s a flea flicker. Ryan Nibblet going on for a 13 yd pickup. Just a little jet sweep reverse flee flicker throwback screen. You know, I was no big deal. A little wordy but well executed and actually that one is good inside the right upright [Applause] short set. Plenty of time takes off running with some room and a first down. Weren’t a lot of them last week because of Missouri’s ball control. played 45 snaps. Now wide it goes. Min Young up and over but with a first down across midfield. Texas went on to the College Football Playoff. The only team that’s been in the College Football Playoff each of the last two years out wide to Wingo. And why not so far he’s been so good after the catch. I mean making guys miss. That’s now two big missed tackles. Come from behind win that saved their season. Weisner escapes. CJ Herd behind the line of scrimmage. Miss tackles by Herd who’s been so good all season in the back end for Vandy. But everything right now for Texas is going. Connor Robertson starting at center. Cole Hudson has moved to left guard. They gave Manny enough time to fire it to the Andre Moore again. Shaky tackling by the Vanderbilt Commodores. CJ Baxter now in a running back. Another miss tackle. Another run down the sideline. Parker Livingston. Livingston a red shirt freshman from Lucas, Texas. And it’s going to be a really long game. If your best players for Vanderbilt don’t make plays, your floor is a lot higher with Hudson at guard and Robertson at center. Manning lots of running room should he decide to do it. Waits for somebody to get open and it’s a touchdown. CJ Baxter. Impressive [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] drive. Five minutes to go. 83 yds in 10 plays. Manning was six for six. for 56 yds and the touchdown. First touchdown of the year for CJ Baxter. The extra point good by Mason Shipley. This is where Arch Manning has grown the most. Hoise and patience. Takes his time, threats the line of scrimmage, keeps his eyes downfield, and finds Baxter on the scramble drill. And what a start for the Longhorns. I think there’s plenty of time for them to continue to play their game. They just need to play it better. Still in the first quarter. Pavia on the run. Caught far sideline. Junior Cheryl. That was a frustration last week against Missouri. Tigers had the upper edge along the line of scrimmage. Wide open receiver Richie Hoskins. The former walk-on now a team captain. Tim Beck has done these last couple plays. moving the pocket, getting Diego Pavia outside to change the launch point so those pass rushers don’t know exactly where it’s coming from. I think that’s going to continue to pay dividends as long as they’re moving him around. Alexander gets sent in motion wide to the left. Pavia a quick strike for a first down. Beautiful throw yd line. This was nice, too, cuz it looked like Anthony Hill, number zero, might get out underneath that slant, but because of the quickness that Pavia is able to get the ball out with, he beats the defender with an accurate throw. Kylin Young, the running back, he stays in the block with pressure coming from the corner. Pavia could not escape. If he had managed to get away from Trey Moore, he had a lot of running room. Here’s Brock Taylor, who’s seven for seven this year. He’s made 18 in a row. This is from 44. [Applause] That’s a gimme. Even you would have given him that one. Molly McGrath says she can’t even find him on the sideline. That’s a big loss for the Horns. Arch Manning slides down right out of concussion protocol last night. And a good call. It was a late slide, so understandable why the fans are upset. But Arch has to also be smarter, too. Initiate that slide. It’s hard. He’s such a competitor. Here comes a blitz. They have a screen set up against it. We down the sideline. Look at all the Vanderbilt defenders. They all end up working a little bit this way. And there comes the screen out to the right hand side. Look at all those white jerseys stepping in between the hashes. And then there’s nobody home. How to overtime to win at Kentucky and at Mississippi State. EMTT Mosley the Stanford transfer with another first down on another wellthrown ball. And it’s an easy throw for Arch. They fake the throw out wide. Then he decided to go ahead and throw it to Dalen McCutchen. And he’s out of bounds inside the five at the four. Weisner blockers out in front. Touchdown. [Applause] Steve Sarkeesian’s season on life support the fourth quarter last week in Starkville, Mississippi. [Music] They rallied to win one of the biggest comebacks in school history. And this afternoon looking very much like the team that was the preseason number one in the country against ninth ranked Vanderbilt. [Music] Mason Shipley adds the extra point. They answer the Commodore field goal with a touchdown. And this time it’s Petraian Weisner perfectly blocked up front. Somersults over the goal line and a dream start offensively for the Horns. [Applause] Seven minutes to go in the half. A lot of work for Pavia and the Commodores to do. It starts with a 15 yd play to Trey Richardson. Nearing four minutes to go in the half. Full complement of three timeouts for each team. Designed roll out away from that pressure for Pavia. Good run after the catch. Eli Sters. All kinds of trickery. They’re not fooled. And Pav is taken down again. Anthony Hill this time. Vanderbilt had given up only seven sacks all season entering today. Tied with&m for the fewest in the conference and 11th fewest in the country. Junior Cherald. Pavia down the middle and caught and a touchdown. Eli Sters. What a drive by the Commodores. 75 yds in just under seven minutes and an 18 yd touchdown. Pavia to his great friend Sters on the 13th play of the drive. Everything was going Sarkeesian’s way, but he’s clearly dismayed. A little life for Clark Lee and the Commodores to take into the locker room. A lot of belief on that team. They’ll get the ball first in the second half. Brock Taylor on for the extra point. All of a sudden, it’s gotten very quiet for the crowd of 100,000 plus here in Austin. And this is just really poorly lined up initially. If you look at TAN Smith, he’s shaded to the twoman side, which look at all the space you have between him and the next closest underneath defender. I mean, Sters can work right up the middle. Pavia does a good job of acknowledging how much space there is. Gets it out really quickly. Hit Sters who does a great job after the catch. That was just poor alignment in the pre- snap, which is probably a big reason why Sarkeesian was so frustrated on the sideline. We talked about the interesting history of these programs of the quarterbacks. And it’s quite a past and present that Diego Pavia and Eli Sters have together. Arch, that one is going to be close to the back line. And it’s on the ground out of the back of the end zone and no flags this time. And to have that experience now still with everything to play for right in front of you, knowing that you can take the absolute heat that he’s taken and bounce back says a lot on third down and four on target. Manning again. Predicting the Heisman Trophy race before the season starts. He’s fallen completely off the board. He’s on target again. He might be reigniting candidacy with this performance. DeAndre Moore the catch and they’re inside the 30. Defense well today. He sees the corner down squat on the underneath. He knows he has the corner route to DeAndre Moore. He puts it right over the top. It’s a welltimed throw from Arch and he’s just picking up right where he left off in the first half. 20. [Applause] Manning. First down. Jack Andrew’s the tight end. Transfer from Cal Baxter in running back. Manning faked it to him. Hit as he throws. Touchdown EMTT Mosley. [Applause] [Music] The 93 yd drive ends with Manning’s third touchdown throw. You force a three and out and their quarterback leads a 93 yd drive in five minutes to extend your lead on a perfect throw. And Steve Sarkeesian, he’s got Arch Manning playing like his uncles after all. 25 in the nation in rushing offense and rushing defense. Coaches always talk about if you can run the ball and stop the run, you have a chance to have a really good team. They haven’t been able to run it today against a great Texas rush defense. Pavia, that needs to be a flag. And these here comes a flag. Now, there might be more than just the one flag, but Xavier Filami kept riding Pavia well across the boundary. Like the hit started in bounds, but the way Filami finished it, throwing him into the sideline should result in a 15 yd penalty. [Music] [Applause] right here. It’s fine dead. But this right here, the extra aggression, completely unnecessary after the play was over. Personal foul, unnecessary roughness on the defense number 17. Great hit out of bounds. A 15yd will be added to the end of a run. carries an auto. The crowd’s booing. I mean, Phil tackled him at the concession stand. Pavia weaving around. Pavia goes down. Ryan Nibblet goes in motion. Wisner nice cut. First down. 37 yd try for Mason Shipley. That’s good. AJ Newberry, the running back. Pavia takes off running. Pav is going all the way to the end zone for a touchdown. [Applause] 25 yd run. Flag is at the end of the play. Starting to get a little chippy and chirpy. And when that starts, the officials start losing hats, throwing hats. The result of the play is a touchdown. After the play, we have fouls by both teams. After the play, unscription conduct on the offense number two. That is his first of the game for throwing the ball at a player. Also, we have a personal foul. Unnecessary roughness shot above the shoulders of the defense number five. Those penalties will offset. We will play the try down at the three yd line. Texas already seven out of nine on third down. Vanderbilt blitzing on this one. Single coverage. Mosley touchdown. Kobe Taylor had the coverage. He’s saying it was incomplete. The officials are confirring. But for now, it’s the second touchdown of the day for EMTT Mosley despite being held. And that’s an incomplete pass. [Music] Out of high school, no scholarship offers. Walked on at Oklahoma State. Texas State finally became their kicker. became one of the best in the country and right on Q just the announcer Jinx. Nice sunny day back then. Beautiful. A little cloudy now. Diego Pavia let anyone fly. Busted coverage. This is going to be a touchdown for Eli Towers. [Music] [Applause] 67 yds. [Applause] But they taken 30 yds off the total because of the sacks. To the goal line. Ball extended. Did not get there. Junior Cherald reached for the pylon. Sensing another opportunity for the progressive pylon camera. Jaylen Gilbo stopped the play. This is a great throw. Perfect. Progressive pylon cam shows you. Let’s watch the ball extend. No sir. Oo, looks like it was short from that angle. [Music] Video review, the ruling on the field is upheld. The two-point charge is good. Okay, like we said, from their 23 down by 10, a minute 50 to go. Pavia, another open receiver, Junior Cheryl to midfield. [Applause] Threeman rush. They got close to him. He got it off for another first down inside the 20. They set the chains. The clock winds again. Now you got to go hyper speed and find Sters. Down the seam to the five yd line. Eli Sters. 40 seconds to go. Pavia needs to get rid of it. Does back in the end zone. Touchdown. My goodness. Richie Hoskins. [Applause] Many friends and loved ones. And noticeable omission along the defensive line for the Texas Longs. There is no Colin Simmons. So Pavia knows he has a little extra time. He knows he can buy time and work to his right and find a guy in the back of the end zone. So, a notable absence there for the Texas defensive line without an all-American on the field. Two. They hit it right to Livingston and he missed the ball. It’s free on the ground. And did it go out of bounds? Oh, Vanderbilt had all kinds of chances at it. Did they corral it in bounds? Longhorns are saying no. We haven’t seen a signal. Now we are from the officials. It was there for the taking right in front of their sideline and they couldn’t squeeze it. The ruling on the field is that the ball was touched in bounds. However, the ball went out of bounds with no player in possession. And therefore, it’s Texas’s ball at the out of bounds spot. First down. And wow, what a moment there at the end. Wow. And they recovered it there. They are one short throw away from a field goal. Try to tie it. As valiant as you can be in defeat. [Applause] In the end, Steve Sarkeesian’s team hangs on for its fourth straight win in conference play. They go to seven and two overall, 4-1 in the SEC. You want this, you got that. No way. Walk right at you. Run fast. Run fast while you have a chance. Don’t speak.

  1. Archy really looked good on those throws. He zips that ball into tight coverages but with terrific accuracy in this game .
Texas really beat a well coached and really Good Vanderbilt team.
Big Stretch coming Georgia, Arkansas and Texas A&M.
This is what Nov Football is all about.

  2. lets just say texas was lucky, cause it could of gone very bad at the end ,, 4th quarter it seems like its coming back to haunt them by choking with a large margin of ponts and than just barely winning by 3 points, but a win is a win…………….but with that way they were playing the 1st 3 qtrs and than blowing the lead they should not be rank below 10

  3. Insecure texas fans in this comment section are so funny. Season will be over when you lose to Georgia or A&M, at best you have a instagram quarterback who can throw screen passes to 5 star recruits that just choose texas because of the artificial brand. 9-3 ceiling for the next 3 seasons

  4. the touchdown before the suspect 2 pt conversion was also a scripted looking play with a complete blown coverage for a wide open td

  5. Texas dominated vandy n vandy fans all salty in the comments u lost homie go home get over it u got beat! long flight home dumb butts

  6. So on that run with the personal foul. Am I wrong or shouldn’t there been a block in the back called against vandy?

  7. Props to Vandy for fighting back, but if the 4th quarter would have been called correctly, Texas would have won by double digits easily. The 2 point conversion obviously, PI on 3rd and 6 that led to a long missed fg, Holding on TD run, holding, holding, holding… what a joke.

  8. Pimp Down! That was a banger of a game- one of the most exciting in recent Vandy history, although they've been having them a lot more often. They're still very much in contention for a playoff spot, but Oh Man they don't have any more margin for error the rest of the way. And it's a tough schedule the rest of the way.

  9. If you guys are going to make it so the other YouTube pages can’t post highlight reels of games. Can you at least do a better job yourselves? Why do I have to fast forward 90 seconds at a time to get to the next play. I don’t need to see the same replay five different times and wait in real time to watch the extra point.

  10. I'm completely neutral in this, and that Vandy 2 point conversion is one of the absolute worst calls I've seen in a very long time.

  11. Sark can't put a team away, and he struggles against teams they should bury. The Sark Suck is real. GREAT OC, weak HC. (One bad from the refs call didn't allow 3 4th qtr td's; a coach that can't keep his players head in the game,)

  12. No way anybody looked at Arch’s stats and thought they were good. My grandson could’ve made most of these throws and he’s 3 😂

  13. Whoever drafts manning has a very high chance lf winning a Superbowl… The dude was grown in a lab somewhere… Him and his whole family.

  14. Goose e egg golden touch I want you in today you hear me t sixty minutes 😢fellas . We give it all then we give some more. The score don't matter 😢in the end win lose or Limbo but the w is better

  15. The made up names black parents give their children are pathetically hilarious. Quantravaiousmatyculitousshativiakantondre sounds good to me. why not?
