And I’ll be cutting these balls open with the help of Jeff my cutting tool!
Have you played either of these balls?

Okay, they’ve finally arrived. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a golf ball delivery for a long, long time. But these are the brand new Amazon Basics golf balls. The core soft golf balls. I’m in the UK. They can only come in a 12-pack. But this 12-pack cost me $17. Now, in America, it’s a dollar a ball. $24 for 24 balls. In this video, I’m going to compare the brand new Kirkland Signature Golf Ball, the version 3.5, to the Amazon Basics golf ball to see how they compare. We’re going to be cutting them open with the help of Jeff to see exactly what’s inside this golf ball. And I’m going to compare what’s inside the Kirkland golf ball. We’re going to have a close-up look and work out whether you should save some money and buy the Amazon basic golf ball or if your game deserves better. Let’s get into it. So, these are the cheapest golf balls you’re going to find on Amazon. the Amazon basic golf ball. The core soft golf balls have just been released. I don’t think you can find yourself a more simple packaging than the Amazon basic. Now, normally you get a bit of flashy packaging with some advertising on the outside, but this one is just a box. So, let’s cut this one open with the help of my uh my my scorecard pencil. Right. So, here we are. First look of the Amazon Basics golf balls. I mean, they look really really basic. That’s probably as plain a packaging as you can get. I’m surprised they’ve even put the Amazon basics writing on the side. Um, and also someone said that they thought it would just be a box full of loose balls. I think that’s probably what I would have expected as well. So, let’s have a look at the box inside. Let’s see what’s inside here. So, first of all, actually, there’s nothing on this box at all. It’s completely plain. There’s no advertising. Literally no thrills. So, first look at the golf ball. So, this is the number two. So, we’ve got the Amazon Smile logo on there. Core soft on the side. The first of all, it actually feels quite good. I mean, from what I understand, from the limited information about them, it is an cover. So, it’s not a urethane cover. So, it isn’t going to match the premium golf balls like the Tailor-Made TP5 or the Titus Prov1’s. But, it does feel okay. I mean, it feels very firm, but actually on first look, it’s not a range ball. It’s actually a pretty decent made ball. So, in the UK, this golf ball cost £17. That was for 12 golf balls. In the US, you can actually get 24 pack and it says it’s $24 for 24 balls. So, I’m pretty slow at maths, but to me that means it’s a dollar a ball. So, pretty good value. some of the features. Now, you won’t know the features because there’s nothing on the packaging, but on their website, some of the features of this ball is that it’s got low compression. They also call it hypersoft, so it’s got advanced core technology. Now, one of the features they say is that it’s got a um alignment aid on the side to help you with your putting. But one of the thought, one of the things I thought was really funny is that they call it a high visibility golf ball. And that’s one of the features that they’re using to sell it. Well, I don’t know about you, but that to me is a high visibly high visibility golf ball. This is just a white golf ball. So, I don’t know, maybe they’re running out of ways to advertise this ball. But, so this golf ball is made in the same factory as the Kirkland Signature Golf Balls in Vietnam by a company called SM Global. They also make PXG golf balls. But from what I’ve read so far, that’s where the similarities end. So, why don’t we compare this to what the Kirkland Signature Golf Ball looks like. And here’s one I prepared earlier. So, this is the brand new Kirkland. This is the version 3.5. And you can tell that because it’s got the hollow arrows on the alignment aid on the side. And first of all, yep, there’s definitely a difference in the color. And I think the reason for that is because the Kirkland is a urethane covered ball and the uh Amazon is a ironma finish. But actually, I joked about the high visibility, but it does look a bit brighter than the Kirkland golf ball. What do you think? Now, the Kirkland golf ball in terms of price is about $40 for 24 balls. So, about $15, $16 more expensive than the Amazon basic golf ball. But this Kirkland golf ball, and I’ve done a few videos on it now, is an excellent golf ball. It actually competes with the Prov1. So, if you’re looking for a budget golf ball that’s really great value and performs really well, the Kirkland Signature is an excellent ball. But, let’s have a look inside. But I want to show you first of all what’s inside the Kirkland golf ball so you can get an idea of what we will see from a more premium finished golf ball. Now the Kirkland golf ball is a three-piece ball. So here’s one I cut open earlier. So let’s have a little look. So you can see here it’s a three-piece ball. So it’s got the outer um outer layer that gray inner mantle and that bright blue inner core. Now the color doesn’t mean anything on the inside of the golf ball. It just shows the material that it’s made of. up. Um, that shows you the makeup of this ball. Now, I don’t know what’s inside this Amazon Core soft golf ball. So, I don’t know if it’s two, three, four, or five piece golf ball, but let’s get hold of Jeff now and see exactly what’s inside. And then we can compare them both side to side. I mean, I hope it doesn’t explode or anything silly like that. I’ve just cleaned up in here. Right, here we go. Okay. Right. Drum roll. Yeah. Let’s go. Okay. So, first of all, I mean, it feels really soft. Now, that isn’t a scientific test, but it does feel much softer than the Kirkland. But it does feel much softer than the Kirkland golf ball. So, let’s have a close-up look so we can see what we’ve got here. Actually, quite hard to see, but that’s just a two-piece golf ball. It’s got a very thin outer layer and a kind of light blue light blue center that that does feel very soft. Now, the only worry that I’d have with a very thin outer layer is the durability. Now, usually with a two-piece golf ball, you would find they would have a much thicker outer layer. Now, this is the the classic nitro golf ball, distance ball, but you’ll see actually the outer cover on that nitro is much thicker and will probably last a lot longer. So, that would be my main worry about the Amazon basic core soft ball. How long will it last? But it’s so thin, you can hardly see where the core ends and the outer layer starts. So, when we put them side by side, we’ve got the Kirkland and the Amazon golf ball. You can see there that they you got the two-piece Amazon and the three-piece Kirkland golf ball there. So, I’d probably guess they they’ve said it’s a hyper soft golf ball, but I’d probably guess when they measure it, it will probably come out at about a 50 or 60 compression. So, probably perfect for golfers with a slower swing speed, beginner golfers. And actually, at the price point, it’s probably perfect for golfers that are going to lose a few each round. You know, at a dollar a ball, if you lose it in the bushes or in the water, you’re not going to really worry too much. Now, in terms of distance and comparing these golf balls, I haven’t been able to get it onto the uh onto the track van yet, but Embers Golf did put a video out today and it was excellent. They they did compare the Kirkland versus the Amazon golf ball and actually for their handicaps and their level of golf, they found that these both performed very similar. They found that the Amazon golf ball had higher flight um and span a little bit more, but the Kirkland golf ball and the Amazon golf ball were very, very similar. So, I can’t wait to get these onto the course and onto a Trackman to test them out. How do you think they’re going to perform? Now, one of the things I saw in the comments was that they should have called this ball the Prime V1. What do you think? What would you name this ball? So, let me know in the comments below. Would you play this golf ball? And what would your golf buddy say? And actually, would you care? And I’ll catch you in the next one.

Would you play this ball? 🤔🏌️♂️
Thank you.
No
Nitros are like hitting rocks…..
Maybe a perfect winter ball. However, agree with you that the outer layer looks very thin. Would it last 36 holes. (Assuming I don't lose it, of course).
It's a low compression, two piece ball. I would consider playing it in the dead of winter when the mud and leaves are abundant. Otherwise, no.
I'll buy some for the hell of it, even if they end up being Prime OB Hole Balls
This is Amazon trying to get in on the golf ball markets big business. The cover does look very thin and if it was urethane it might be a good option but comparing it to a Kirkland, a ball that is on its 3rd generation is probably a no no. Would I play the Amazon Ball? No way, I reckon it might be best suited to slower swing speeds than mine but it probably does have a market for the ladies or seniors
I’d give them a try! Why not? What do you have to lose??
There are worse balls!
They hit like a Precept Laddie. Perfect winter ball for most mid-high handicappers.
My dozen arrived yesterday, playing with them this morning. I think they’ll be fine for the Winter.
It’s good to see that there’s choice BUT at £17/12 for the Basics makes the Kirkland ball better from the get go! 3 piece, urethane £35/24! I’ve also found the TM Tour Response ball at £20/12 new & boxed so I’m not sure it’s going to shake up the market like they’re claiming! So pass from me, no doubt there will be a wave of curiosity and buys but there’s been a couple of less than stellar reviews already!
Great review! 😀
Not as cheap as the Wilson Profile on Amazon. Less than 90 cents a ball.
Prime V1 is an awesome name
$1.00 a ball. Can’t beat the price. My 2 dozen is arriving Saturday, playing with them on Sunday
Looks like the perfect fall/winter golf ball! For the price point I'd definitely give it a try!
Are these golf balls available in Canada?
