This South England Hidden Gem Golf Course Costs £30! – It’s Absolutely Incredible!

Welcome back to the channel, guys. Today you’re joining us in episode two of On the Road with Gary Martin where we’re at Burnham and Barrow Y playing the Nol Golf Course described by Dan Henrikson and Lester Barnes as the most difficult and hardest 9 golf course had ever played. Yeah, we had a well, we watched a video a few years ago. We just had a little recap on it and yeah, did they end up with something like 11 points. Lester shot 11 points, Dan shot 10. Okay. So, that gives you some indication how tough it’s going to be. Yeah, they’re golfers. I’m going to be playing off scratch. You’re playing off six. So, you get shots on stroking X one to six. Obviously, it’s a 9 all golf course, so you might get around about three shots on this front nine. Um, and I’m told that the greens are like postage stamps. Okay. And after after episode one’s performance, yeah, we weren’t very good on greens, were we? We weren’t. So, we’ve got some making up for Can we beat Dan and Lester Barnes on the toughest 9 course, in their words, in the world? Let’s get teed off. So Dan’s going to get shots on holes 2, six, and seven. This first all it’s playing. It looks about 350. It’s 343 yards. It looks pretty straightforward. Try to get myself off to a good start at a four iron. There’s trouble down left. So I think right’s the bail out. And because of what Dan and Lester said, I’m going to play yellow ball. Little bit of a tactic. That’s perfect. Just just drawing into the middle a little bit. Lovely ball. That’s a great start. Pretty friendly golf. What did you measure it? 142. 142. 142. That pin looks looks to be quite towards front, don’t it? Yep. So, there’s a little bit of room behind pin. I think the key here is to see make sure we get enough club. It’s a good strike. It’s straight at it. Is it the right club? It looks Is it coming up short? Yeah, there’s a lot of Did you hit I hit a nine there? Felt like I ate it. Well, yeah, that W there’s just a bit of breeze up there, isn’t it? Yeah, I think it is hurting a little bit. I was thinking same. I mean, I’ve gone for nine iron, but don’t really want to hit an eight. But I think sometimes you’re forced into just clubbing up. So, I’m just going to aim at that path. I think sort of favor the right hand side a little bit. Stay there. That zoom in on that. That could be great. Yeah. Yeah. That were a nice lower ball flight, would it? Mine were a bit Yeah. Yours more just a normal flight would This is your first ever time playing links. Remember it is. This link style golf’s different. M steady, steady. There’s just something about Link’s golf, you know? It’s a different atmosphere. You can kind of feel I don’t know. You just you can feel the sea, can’t you? In a way. Yep. There’s like an atmosphere in air. Certainly a little bit cold. Hit it. Hit it. Yes. Yes. We’re going to see a big smile. What a start. I’m not going to get too excited, though. Do you want it out? Yeah, you come down. Yeah. Well done. Good save that in end. So, the second 416 yards par four. And again, I think there’s nothing for missing left. Feels like a little bit of a dog leg left. It’s the right side to miss at. I think there’s two things when you’re playing sort of links golf is that you try to get a solid strike on the ball and you think about really think about where you want to hit the ball too. You know, your landing areas. So check your distances and your runouts cuz if you run out the fairway it can be very punishing. So it’s 240 yards that little bush where that little seagull is on the fairway. I’m going to head up there and I’m going to hit a hybrid. So into this wind I know I’m not going to run out into trouble. That’s a little bit right where I were aiming. So, right up on that June. You see how it come down, Dan? It’s just over like you see where it’s really yellow. Yeah. Like a bushy bit. I’m stuck in catch 22 because if I try to go directly at the pin, I’ve got to carry it a long way. Sort of 200 yards. But if I aim for the fairway, it’s a sliver of a fairway. And um yeah, I think I’m going to go for the for the long shot because it if I get the carry, it opens up. So I’ve got a massive sort of landing area. So just going to go over the right hand corner of this mound and that leaves me as long as I get the distance it leaves me a massive landing area. Oh, it’s not the best. That could struggle. I might be up on the dunes of just in a provisional. I’ve seen it. Oh, have you seen it? Yeah. Yeah. Write down what you got left. Quite a while. Uh 230. 230. So, can’t really get there. Oh, it’s a rocket. Little bit short. Yeah, great shot. It’s got about 200. Well, I’d say you got to try and play what you practice, ain’t you? It’s But if you can do it, don’t just talk about trying to play a link shot bit more of a chip and run style. What are you going to do? Got a pitching wedge. I’m hoping just short at green. Bumps it up. It’s a good launch. Sit. Sit. Just off at back. Strike. Every time I play Lynx golf, I always think I need to do this more. It’s definitely my favorite style of golf. And there’s just something about being on coast. I don’t know if you can feel it. There’s almost like a mist in there, isn’t there? Lovely. It’s lovely. you know, like these sort of lies. I love the beauty of natural, you know, just things being natural and and not man-made. And when you play links, generally they’ve just built a golf course on the land that they’ve got. I don’t think there’s anything more beautiful than that. So, just to confirm, you think that lies beautiful. Do you know like aesthetically if you know, you’ll get a lot of people who used to playing parkland courses mainly, you know, like I think in America, it’s a different style of golf. In UK, things are just left natural. And I like the beauty. I mean, everyone’s different, aren’t they? But I think there’s something special about that. Um, so I am going to have to run it off this lie. The lie’s chosen the shot for me. I think I’m going to hit an eight iron. Try and land it short. Run it up. Go on then. Run. Run. I think I’ve left it a bit shy. It’s not bad though that way, is it? Dan’s just saying he feels like he wants to put everything. I think that is links. You know, I think when you miss a green, you generally have that opportunity if you wish to take it. And sometimes it’s probably the highest percentage shot you’ve got. Come on. Two put not high enough. I think as well on link sort of courses you got to take a lot of care on your sort of lines because it is it’s not so man-made. There’s a lot of undulation. I won’t call them imperfections but they don’t sort of they don’t make flat lies. You you get what the lie of the land is. So just be careful. This would be a a massive save. Come make this one. I think weight’s going to be key. Steady, steady. Oh, you just don’t want to be leaving too many of them deer for part two. I thought that were good. You want to finish or No, I think I’ll have a minute. Do you want me to stick a mark on that? No, no, no, it’s good. Is it all right? I trust that it moves. Well done. Is that a bogey? It’s a bogey. We shot which is all I wanted really. Starting to feel that wind now. Are you? Yeah, definitely. Cold as well, ain’t it? Yeah. So, third all 153. It’s actually measuring 142 from the TE’s we’re playing off and it’s probably playing 162 with that wind. I definitely say it’s a I’ve got eight iron. A one club wind at least anyway. Oh no. Oh, you’re just all right on that left hand side. Tell you what, distance was perfect. What they have done on this course which I think is really smart. Instead of having out of bounds on left hand side, they put red stakes. Yeah. So, if you do manage to knock one out of play, you can drop one up there. And I think for speed of play, that’s a a no-brainer for a lot of clubs. If you’re having problems with speed of play, it might be worth reviewing your boundaries. Oh, come on. turn in. Try him. I’m just playing too safe at the minute. Yeah, it’s also playing a long way. I know. If I were to sort of try and land it up on top here, I’ve not got a lot to work with. They do tend to cut surrounds quite short, don’t they? See if we can get this. Good. There’s something good about playing a new course, you know, when you don’t know what you’re going to get. 100%. Yeah, it makes you concentrate a lot and I think um I’m quite excited to see what we’ve got ahead, whether we get to see obviously it cost or not. I’ve been short all week with them sort of shots. Oh, that’s a fantastic shot down. That’s pretty special as well. It’s a place where you’ve never played this, is it? You know, like more sort of south I’d say southwest. I don’t know if I’m right or not, but down that way, is it? It’s down that way. Bristol and there’s some fantastic courses. We’ll have to sort of try and do a bit longer trip down here in future. Come on. I’ve just not put well this week. Can have that. Well done. Great save. Good par. Four full par five. 473 yards. What you seeing, Dan? Hell. Hell. Have you done any zapping? What’s them bushes up on the right? 314 on rightish. So, I’m not going to reach him, but I’m going try and go down this left hand side and hopefully it cuts back. Hopefully, he says, “Oh, that’s a lovely ball. Great ball. That little bit of work we did on practice areas working.” That’s exactly what I did. Yeah. Right. I’m going to try to match down on that one. I think looking at where mine landed, guys. Yeah, you can go well. Right at that. It’s not It’s further than we think, is it? Yeah. I think I’m going to sort of aim Yeah, I’m still going to aim at that like I don’t know what it is. It looks like maybe what do you call them hoops at the side of Lakes? Um oh, savior ring. Savior ring. I’m sure there’s another word for it. That’s definitely not right word. I think I’ve made that up. That’s right down line. Yeah, I think that’s good. Right, we’ve Well, we’ve misjudged it. I’m feeling a bit silly. If you play here, you’ve got all that room on 44 to right hand side. We’ve got sucked in. Weirdly off tea though it looks like all that’s reachable and come down. You don’t see it till you get down here how much space you’ve got over there. So can’t really go directly at the green anymore. But to be fair I think in this cold wind we can’t really get there anyway can we? I think 200 to 230 is going to leave a short pitch. But that lie is not looking great. I’m going to have to just hit a five and try and get it to about 200. It up. Don’t think I’ll get anything else at it. And again, I’m going to aim at that uh lifesaving hoop. We still haven’t found name for it. Somebody will correct us. It’s going to be all right, but it’s a bit left to where I wanted. Good angle in though. Snug. Yeah. To that left hand side. So Dan’s got 237. He’s not light. He’s not lying so well though, is he? No. What you hitting? I got four. Four. I’m just going to try and run it. Oh, it’s going to come out low. A bit craper. Yeah, we’re always going to be tough out of that lie. I’m happy with that. Get in the comments, guys, if you’ve played Lynx Golf yourself, you know, where have you been? And what’s your favorite Lynx golf course? Cuz you’re obviously thinking of doing a trip to Scotland next year, aren’t you? Scotland. Yeah. But I think in terms of links, I’ve always wanted to try like Wallace. Wallace. And that’s a couple of hours from us, isn’t it? It is. I actually know a member up there, so he might be able to sign us on for a game if he’s watching. if he’s watching. Yeah. Used to play for Everton. Did I? Yeah. And you’re going to ask me his name now, aren’t you? I just wonder if he wants again for Wednesday. No, I think he’s a bit uh past that. I’m not going to say his name, obviously, but um yeah, I’ll try and get us on up there. Yeah. Get in the comments, guys. What’s your favorite? I mean, for me, if you’ve never visited St. Andrews, Yeah. Yeah, I know it’s the obvious one, but the history there, you can feel it in the air. Yeah. Uh, and everyone will say the old course is is not the best sort of um you always hear mixed reviews on it, don’t you? Yeah. But that you cannot beat playing them final three holes, you know, walking that 18th like all your heroes and everything flooding back and then I mean there’s nothing better than dropping your clubs off in pub, having a couple of pints, having a bit of food and really soaking it all up. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah, it is a bit special, but I tell you what, you know, value for money. Yeah. Like for somebody that’s wanting to experience Lynx golf at a reasonable price, how can you beat this? Lovely, isn’t it? And this is um this is obviously a little bit of a quieter course, right? And we’re left of that flag. It’s a good strike, Dad. Short. That’s either really close or behind flag. What you got? I’ve got 89. Can see mine. What did you have? You had about 70. Yeah. 87. 87. 3/4 52. What you going? I’ve got 54. Yeah. Not going to hit it fullblooded, but so just a good 54. Very slightly uphill. Be the club. Be long enough. Yeah. Oh, we’re golfing. We’re golfing. I didn’t see you getting inside mine. We’re walking up. Yeah, you’ll be happy with them. I’m more happy with yours now. I actually thought I’d under it a bit when I first hit it. Just a bit shy. Moved more than I thought. Still a good five. Two points. Oh, you didn’t get a shot yet, did you? No. No. We’ll take that. Still no pars. That’s just typical of me in it. Two birdies, two bogeies. So, fifth full, 345 yards, par four. Looks pretty straightforward this one. Does some pretty big dunes, but uh down there. You got four iron. Just four iron. Again, you are hitting your irons well today into your strengths. Not that one. Oh, sit down. I think you’re just just all right. Skinny teeth. What? Skin teeth. Skinny teeth. Think I’m going to join you with a free iron. I won’t join where I am. Well, no, but I think um it’s so important to like try to keep your ball like under control and low into it. What are you trying to say? Don’t flare it high, right? Not just for us, but just if you’re playing, you know, these sort of course in general, you never see a Lynx golfer who it’s up there. Well, you know, there’s a member somewhere here. They’re always keeping it as low as they can. Tell you what, it’s a similar line to yours. Literally joined me. I don’t believe it. a bit further on. I’ve hit a free iron bit. Yeah. Do you know what I think I’m doing? I think I’m standing up out of the shot to stay down longer. We’re making all the mistakes for you guys. So, if you do play here, don’t copy us. Don’t copy us. Do whatever we do. Do opposite. Big slice required. Oh, that’s a beauty. Is it overcooked? Yeah, it’s probably going to be short anyway, but right, it’s not lying very well. It’s took a bad bounce and I think I’m struggling here to get a full swing at it. Not very well is an understatement. It’s 164 wind off left. See what I can do. I’ve just got this obstruction of this uh sort of branch in my way. It’s not in my swing, but it’s just in my ey line. Right. I’m going to try and get as much on this eight iron as I can. Don’t think a seven will come out. Keep your eyes on it, guys. Oh, hit that. Well, come on. Hit it, wind. I’ll tell you what, I’ve made green. I can’t believe that. No, before you going to I was going to say you’re a bit optimistic with green, but if you do it, I’ll buy a dinner. I thought there’s absolutely no way. That’s a right shot. Even I’m happy with that one. What are you thinking? 56. We’ll land it about three or four foot on. Yeah. It’s not bad. Wait. Well, lovely. It just I think when you said three or four foot on, I think he needed to land it up there a bit more, but it’s not too bad. No. Yeah. Yeah. They’re quite firm. They don’t really react. Yeah. It’s pretty much pin eye, isn’t it? That were a a bonus. Weren’t expecting a birdie put after that T-shot, but uh we’ve got one. Let’s see if we can scare the whole being a bit shy today so far. Roll out. Roll out. I think it were a bit left. Anyway, I’ll take the par. I think what Dan said a minute ago about greens being firm. It’s one of them courses that you just know is going to drain well. I think Link’s courses do in general, don’t they? Yeah. If you don’t mind playing in the elements, it’s definitely one that’ll be pretty dry under foot this winter. be some save. Hello. Hello. I thought you got that. So did I. So, moving to the six hole. And Dan’s got a couple of shots coming up. Wow. I think we finally arrived on you. Take a little picture yourself. This is uh this looks like a pencil of a hole. It’s tight. This one sort of through the dunes. Stunning. Right. So, you’ve got a shot, Dan. Yeah. Try and control flight a bit better now. Stroke one. A good strike, but again, a bit leaky. I think that’s good. Yeah. Right. Right. It opens up there. Yeah, I think that’s good. I’m finding like that lighthouse my line looks like a lighthouse or some sort of marker. A little bit of fade fade. It’s It’s going to take a nice bounce, I think, off that banking or a solid That’s good. The point with that one to be honest cuz I thought I going to be landing on that banking and I’ve obviously found this gap. So I’ve now got a big ball below or sorry ball above feet. Yeah. Baseball light me a bit. 157. What did I did I have 157 up last when I was coming out of that bush? I won’t worry about that. It’s not really the same shot, is it? No. Think you need an extra club. Yeah. I’m going to hit a seven. It’s just making sure it doesn’t turn over here cuz I’m going to be I think wind’s in your favor cuz it’s going to hold it up. I’m going to be gripping down it a lot. You know what? It’s a sixes. So, I’m shortening club that much. Yeah. Yeah, it could be. Yeah. I’m never going to get there with a seven. and your miss is right. I’m going to actually aim at that big I don’t know if you can see that sign. Yeah. And I’m going to try to just a little bit of a sort of punch and it might just rake ground off this line then it’s a bit of a cut off finish. Come on. Oh, that’s lovely. Right hand side. Yeah. You see it? Uh, I saw a bit of it and then it went. How far you got? 190. But again with the stands. What you hitting? I got five. I don’t think I can get there. No. Trying to keep it in play. Well, you’ve advanced, aren’t you? Sure. Get a shot. Might as well use it. I hope you’re enjoying these vlog, guys. is I know sometimes we get a bit into it that we’re not having banter and you know that kind of stuff but end of day like we are trying to get a score out here and stay focused on as golf and sometimes yeah I don’t know how that comes across but um we are getting tracked aren’t we handicap tracker so we’re trying to sort of play golf and almost the camera it’s a fly on the wall kind of job rather than sort of trying to play up to the camera. We’re just basically playing golf. What you thinking, Dan? We’re going to go 52, but I think with that, see that like ditch in front or run up try and carry it most way. Yeah, it’s not bad putting. Looks like it’s a bit of a McKenzie green. This and I’m just at the top side of it. Breaking right to left. Oh, come on. Come on. That’s it. Oh, that’s terrible. That is terrible. Stop. It’s got to take the rough and the smooth when you’re playing links. It’s uh it’s just tough. Yeah. Well done. Net par uh with me shot. Yeah. Hold on. I think this is going to be pretty straight. I think it’s that way. But then pretty straight. Oh no. What do I eat? I just don’t feel like I’m putting Well, I’m in it. Seven full and Dan’s got another shot coming up. You got iron out. Yeah. Take a look at this one. I think it’s that red pen in distance. Yeah, it must be. Must be. So, 334 yards. Dan’s going for precision again. It’ll work. It’s a runner. It’s a runner. Strike. It’s just not the best strike, was it? I’m going to aim at that path. Can you see that path in on left hand side? Yeah. I won’t go too far left. Yeah, I know. I’m I’m trying to fade it though, aren’t I? bit. Oh, that’s perfect. It’s not the word I expected to hear. I posted into that left side and I remembered a tip from James Freeman just to feel like I’m almost like posting up on it. Do you know when Dan and Lester said this were tough? I think it were the conditions that did it for him. I think it’s um it it’s challenging, but I wouldn’t say it’s the most difficult course. No, I’ve ever played. I think if it could be with the weather. Yeah. I mean, it’s still breezy today. It’s breezy, but I think they must have had it in a lot more difficult conditions. That’s coming in. Didn’t move it, did it? I thought it were coming in. Didn’t move it much though. No, it didn’t come in as much as I thought. Obviously, I started looking through camera. Yeah. So, more on left than I expected. Might get a relief here, you know, if I’m stood on path. No relief there, George. No, you can try. But we know what point situation is. Do you know what? I’m not that bothered about knowing. Well, I am. I think I just want to I don’t want to sort of I just want to play shot at a time. Yeah, I’ve got an idea, but don’t want to crumble. I like it. So, 122 wind off left wide 142 and it hit eight iron. Yeah. And I’m pin eye. I think I’m going to hit a pitching wedge. You think? Yeah. I’m not going to go nine. I know what you’re thinking, but don’t think wind’s going to affect it too much apart from off left hand side. That’s at it. Dan bit the club. Oh, it is a little bit short. Maybe you were right. You were thinking nine, weren’t you? Definitely nine. Yeah, I was just thinking like cuz I’m coming towards end. I’ve got a bit of adrenaline. I’m now crunch like I’m hitting dut ball, you know, so I’m getting that strong naturally. I just thought if I get the nine and I like crunch it through a wind. But anyway, we’re putting we both got uphill puts. I’m just saying mine’s actually not bad, but at the same time, it were near sort of death cuz if you miss it on this sort of front portion, you’ve got a difficult up and down. Are you all righty or do you want it out? Leave it in in case it bangs it up way past. Oh, scared of it. Do you want to have a minute? Yeah, definitely. I think with these sort of pins, you can leave it in, can’t you? Yeah. Quite good pins where if you hit the pin, it tends to drop. Go on then. Nicely done. He’s smiling again. First bit. Um. Yeah. God, it moved lodge. Lucky. That’s what we were looking for earlier. They’re proper sandunes over there, aren’t they? Eight full 117 yards. It’s a gorgeous little par three. Green looks tiny. It’s playing 115 Dan from where you stood. Yep. Downwind. It’s a worker. long. She’s at the back. Right. I’m going for the money shot. I’ve got 54. I’m like got to sell myself a good picture here cuz I’m half thinking 50. So, right picture a good story. Left side of that green. Good solid hit. Yeah, it’s definitely going to go 115. Good solid hit. Oh, it’s going to get there, but it’s leaky. We’re putting for Yeah. Oh, it’s a good strike. Do you know it landed on that bit you just don’t want it to land on? Yeah, it’s not bad. It’s not bad. I think if you’d have been a foot further, you know, I think you’d have probably been pin high. It just shot forward a little bit off that first bounce. You want me to come up? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Get up. Get up. Get up. Got it. Where’s this come from? We were this yesterday. More to the point. I’m not really I don’t feel like I’m playing well and I’m just becking birdies. Show. No, you’ve got to take it, aren you? When it when they come. But come scrambling or trying. Well done. Good save. You know what we should have done? We should have come and played here before we played them two. Yeah. You know, to get a taste at wind and obviously this sort of style of golf. Never mind. Never mind. Nine fall 349. Downwind. Are you keeping the same tactic? Yeah, I attempted to get driver, but I think I’m going to do the same. Don’t think it’s the play. Chasing, aren’t they? You know, you can get sort of 250 with a good iron. It’s made over your bag. Yeah. Little bit down left but fading. I think that’ll be fantastic. Good now. Like I said, just left your bag. Yeah. Two of them just aren’t left. It’s going to need a bit of help in it off that mound. Coming down. It’s trying. Not the best. What were you going to say? I don’t know if we want this on video or not. Why? The Gary’s munched a three iron in here. I did definitely did not munch that three iron. Munched a three iron. 144 iron. I definitely did not munch that. I’m probably I’ve only got 40 yards on you. And it’s definitely took a kick off there. Sure, man. 144 down. It’s going to come out low cuz we’re on that down slope. I’m going to go sort of nine iron here cuz I think it’s going to come out a bit more like an eight. What’s your yardage? 144. And I think anything sort of towards that path on left, that’s where I’m going to try to start it. That’s perfect. It’s like a nice bounce now. Come on. That’s Lynx golf. Look at that. Coming down in towards pin. Do you know what? I love this game. I love links. How far you got, Dan? I’ve got 109. I think I say this every time I play a link golf course. You just don’t have time to think about technique or you know like swing. Yeah, it’s all about just picking spots and visioning things. And for anybody struggling with a swing, thinking too much, too many swing thoughts, go and play a Lynx golf course. You’ll not have time to think about it then. What you hitting? Little wedge. shot. It’ll work. It’ll do. Wanted three or four yards, didn’t it? Well, that’s a shock. I thought it were a good shot. I didn’t realize you come off that. You saw it go through. Well, we’re saying it’s a bit long and you were talking you love. That’s a shame. How’s your short game? Well, I would expect shower. I thought I got a birdie put on it. Well, I’d have smashed camera up if that had have gone in. Had a look. I’m going to finish it while I’m there. Don’t rush it. No, I won’t. I won’t. I actually thought I’d done drip that a bit. But then I remember what you said. They’re firm, aren’t they? Yeah, they’re firm and it’s rolling away. Yeah, that first bounce. I’m happy with this today. I bet you are. have been happy if you’d have done that yesterday. I feel like I’ve scored better than I played, but I’m going to take it anyway. Take two puts here. Yeah, just cozy it up, I think. Come on. Needs to fall. It needs to fall. That was worst effort at week. It just didn’t fall, did it? So, stay high. You’ve got it. Well done. Excellent finish. Bit of putting saved me, Dan. I really enjoyed that. Enjoyed that. Some good golf, weren’t I? I think in conclusion, that’s as good a nur. Well, it’s not actually 9. can play 18. There’s two sets of T’s. We played it as nine holes. What I would say is as a sort of nine all course that you can go around twice. It’s one of the best I’ve ever played. Yeah. I think usually when you hear 9, you think, “Oh, it’s not quite up to scratch, but that’s lovely. It’s got all the character of obviously a link course. It is a lynx golf course. The dunes, the greens. Um, fantastic taste for your first ever time playing links golf course. And I think 30 pound, what a price point.” Yeah. you don’t what do you get 30 pound these days to come and spend a day here obviously we sort of had a bit of a warm up we’ve had breakfast and a coffee and um to just be amongst it and get that feeling of being a top 100 facility yeah it’s got good facilities you can see it can’t you see why they open qualifying and I think we’ve been very lucky that we played it today with only a slight breeze a bit of a breeze but I should imagine they get much worse down here score-wise you finished on 17 points yeah not bad I think you’ve done well I think you could have done a bit better but you’ve only a couple of good puts towards some good, some bad, which is me at the minute. So, I can’t remember you. I’m chuffed. I’ve come four birdies. Um, where I don’t know, I don’t feel like I’ve played particularly well, but I think it’s just that more positive mindset. You’re not looking for perfection out here, are you? Sometimes you score well and you’ve scored well and you’ve got to be happy with that. I think with Lynx golf, it’s we said it earlier, it’s just hitting ball flights. It’s picking spots and the score kind of you kind of forget the score and you forget perfection and you’re just trying to I think what also helps us I mean it definitely helps my game but no keeping driver it back. Yeah. So we’re always in play. People want to see as it drives but unfortunately like sometimes you definitely can’t round. You just can’t in general I think. Yeah. Just making sure you’re in play. You do score better, don’t you? Yeah. So I just like to say special thank you for James who got us on here today from marketing department here. Uh the pro fantastic welcome. They were all nice. Yeah, they were all nicer staff, weren’t they? And um you know that is episode two or on the road with Gary Martin. Where are we going to be in episode three? Tune in next week and find out. We’ll see you in a few days time, guys. Bye.

  1. Enjoyed that – it was good to watch you guys play on a different type of course. Gary, it’s great to see your progress but remember what Laura said and don’t keep beating yourself up (particularly about your putting). You were pretty happy with the result at the end and deservedly so, but remember to keep it positive on the course. 👍

  2. I played st.andrews with my son a few years ago,we played a stableford and we both scored 35 points and I never went in a single bunker.

  3. Did you end up ditching the Haywood CB irons in the end or is it just a case of trying something different this video, I've been looking at some myself and undecided between the CB and PD1 or something different altogether so be interested to hear your take on if and why you've gone down a different route

  4. Great video. The red stakes instead of out of bounds is a great idea. It is lovely to see you and Dan play different courses Gary.

  5. Great 9 hole vlog. Love the course variety . Awesome to see a tour of different courses. I don't tune in for banter, but rather to see the golf and courses. This vlog was ideal.

  6. Gary first time I’ve watched 2 maté’s playing a match on YouTube and thoroughly enjoyed it 😃, (made me feel good about my golf game)👍, can’t believe neither of you were hitting Driver’s or Fairway woods off the tees🥴, Gary loved hearing your comments about links golf and excepting the lies as a challenge with a smile 👍, Gary thought your golf was brilliant in tricky conditions (tee shots aside) Dickey 8hcp 78year senior golfer (from the coast in Kent)

  7. Fun round and a really neat course. Although, I'm suspicious of any course that takes the driver out of your hand on every hole for good golfers.

  8. Great Video ,great course and great golf ,you missed the great links course of North Devon though ,Saunton East and West ,both fabulous courses and then the oldest golf club in England Royal North Devon which is links golf at its most basic ,Sheep ,Horses ,Dogs and People wander all over it and the Southwest Coast Path goes around the course , Certainly well worth a visit !

  9. Well done Gaz. Didn't miss the banter. Good to see two mates trying to play their best golf. Great stuff. ps. I've played the main course (£££). Somewhat stuffy in the pro shop. Nice in the clubhouse though.

  10. Don't apologise for the lack if "banter ". I prefer just to watch the golf and enjoy the courses.

Nice to see some SW courses being showcased👍

  11. Great video lads and good golf on a track you've never played before. I'm amazed that Dan hadn't played links golf. I took it as given that a golfer of his ability had. Nothing beats links golf, I'm a member in Tralee and within one hours drive in Co Kerry I can play Ballybunion, Dingle, Dooks and Waterville so I've never felt the need to travel elsewhere to play links golf

  12. My mother in law used to live in Somerset before she moved earlier this year snd always tried to play Channel Course if I had the chance. It’s quite tight and the greens are small and tricky. You can easily run a score up as it’s easy to get in the wrong spot. Glad you enjoyed it. The short par 3 when it’s windy is a fun hole

  13. Grew up on links. At Minehead just down the road from Burnham. 15 years at Arklow a true hidden gem 30 miles south of Dublin. Best I've played has to be Royal County Down. But my favourite is Waterville right on the west tip of Ireland. Now play coastal/cliff top golf at Bridport and west Dorset.. it is my favourite type of golf. Recently played Pyle and Kenfig in South Wales. The purist greens I have ever putted on

  14. Brora golf course. Scotland. Absolutely stunning ⛳️🏌‍♂️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  15. If your ever in North Wales check out cwb nefyn golf course brilliant course this time of the year you can play 27 holes there as there a old back nine you can play at no extra cost but be warned you will be loosing balls in strong winds on that old back nine IL pm you some pic of it great vid again Gaz

  16. Recently played the "big course" at B&B in a 20mph breeze. Brutal!!!

My favourite links course is Saunton (East) – and the West is only a little behind it! But, having lived in North Devon, I'm biased.

The links that I'll always remember is the 12-hole Shiskine on the Isle of Arran. I played it in 1971, but I've never forgotten the highlights!!!

  17. Well done Gaz & Dan. I've played the championship course. Was a brute in the wind. This course looks comparible quality wise just a bit shorter. Lovely

  18. Stunning course and well played both of you. My favourite links course is Nefyn . Stunning views on every hole and the Pro even encourages you to stop for a pint at the Ty Coch pub on the beach.

  19. Gary I find this type of vlog very informative playing a little more seriously plotting your way around the course.👏👏🏌🏻‍♂️

  20. Enjoyed watching a serious effort, and enjoyed your explanation of why you love links golf. Curious what were the flashy lights at your close? Hope that wasn't an ambulance nearby . .. .

  21. Banter overrated rather real world golf experience and how pro and low hc get out of trouble and play shots 👍🏽

  22. Thanks for bringing us to this little course. Not a complaint, but this course seemed a bit too "green" compared to the other links course I've viewed on television.
