Today I am taking on an elite amateur golfer. Oh, what a golf shot. There we go. What a golf shot with insane distance off the tea. That was massive. That’s the bomb drive right there. And one of the lowest handicaps we’ve had at plus four on this channel. Who needs distance when you’re going to hold it out the rough? This will be one of the toughest tests I face. Golfers. Absolute golfers. dolphins. Do I have what it takes to beat him? We’ve come to win out here on American soil. Let’s head down to the first tea and meet our match. Have you ever seen legs as white as mine? I have not. No, they kind of look like your socks. Right, we have got down to the first tea and we have Mr. Everton Thompson, my American compatriate. Let’s go, baby. Um, you’ve got quite the quite the pedigree, haven’t you? You were was it a D1 or all American American footballer? Football. Yeah. And now you’re off like plus four, is it? Yep, that’s right. Not bad. You know, thought we we’d come to America and pick someone, you know, pretty easy to play against the uh I don’t think you can get more American than this uh this unit. I I think if I hang with Evan, if I’m like one or two back from him today, it’s a success. You’re you’re playing some good stuff. And we’re going to get into Evan’s golf as we go around. There’s nothing like it, dude. I think uh first te nerves are something that you just got to embrace. You really can’t get rid of them. You just got to embrace it, bro. Yeah. It’s man is it like I I’m getting used to it in comps now. Like like you say, embracing it, enjoying them, thinking, “All right, this life I know it means something to me now.” But even that, I think when I play the matches and I know like like yourself, you’re a good player, I’m like got to got to a good shot just to impress them to start off with it. No, that was good. I’ve I’ve seen a lot um ever since I sat on Mizuno, I checked out a bunch of the ambassadors, so I’ve seen I’ve seen a lot of what you do and you make great stuff over there. Oh my gosh. Is that Wow. Is that That’s Wow. I didn’t even know that bunker was reachable to be honest. Is that Yeah. Is that going to be you or that might be yours? I don’t know. Who knows? We’ll soon find out. Yeah, exactly. I might be in the bunker, honestly. Well, I’ve been a little bit fortunate. I’ve found the uh the fairway and Evans just caught a little bit of sand. Yeah, I got the uh this bunker down here. Usually Usually we don’t make it past that uh top hill, so it kind of probably all fed down here. Um this is I would say, Matt, this is the hardest shot in golf. And we’re starting on the first hole with it. 50 yard bunker shot. Um I’m let y’all know this could go about 10 feet in front of me or 100 yards past or somewhere close to the hole. So um I I think I think you rip it in. To be fair, it’s nice compact sand out here, isn’t it? Yeah. I’m actually going to go 50° here because I feel like if I use 60, I’d try to help it up too much. I’m going to go 50 here. Go, go, go. Yeah, that’s tough. So tough, it was I think that or like the picked fairway wood off a tight li, right? Well, I’m pretty much equidistant, but just on the grass. I’ve got 58. Try and land it majority of the way there. It is downwind, so it will release up just at my biggest fan behind the green there. and and let it come to the hold. Nice. That is so diggy. Go ball. Well, that was terrible. Gave you a good bounce off that hill there. Yeah, got away with that. Just dug the leading edge in. But it’s okay. It’s okay. Well, I didn’t really expect much out of that bunker. We just got a nice little 20 yard chip shot back up the hill. This pin’s on the all the way back there. So I got 60° little low flighted one. Try to just use the green to my advantage here. Oh, lovely. Sit, sit, sit. Greens are quick, huh? Oh, stop. Wow. Okay. Okay. Didn’t expect them to be that quick, but it check it checked here. Yeah. And then picked speed up. Last time I played here, the greens were a little furry, so I didn’t expect that at all. It uh I thought it was going to be like 3 ft. Yeah. And it just I think the wind more than anything pushed it on. Looked like it was going to be stone dead. They’re uh I did see them out cutting before. So I think they’re going to be about 11 on the stimpies at the minute. So quite slick. I’ve got a about 20 foot left to right. Bit downhill. Sit. Oh, good. Whoa. Okay. Thank god I mis hit that. These greens are real nice right now. Holy cow. And and you you guys predominantly play bent in the UK, right? Yeah. Yeah. We’re we’re like bent greens and about nine and a half on average on the stimp if you get something that’s like double figures. These are doubled figures right here. Yeah, this is like that would be super quick at home. You’re probably like actually probably about eight and a half is average. That’s crazy. That’s really slow over here. All right, I got this about 12 feet back up the hill. Just going to try to put a good roll on it. I mean, first putt on these greens, they seem kind of quick, so all nice. Get up. Get up. Oh, crawl. It’s okay. That was uh It’s okay. Some of my best rounds have started with a bogey, so I’m all right with that. Every good round starts with a bogey. That’s very true. All right, then. You just want to go right at those greenside bunkers with like a 250 shot. I think it’s just threewood today. Yeah. Cross. It was awesome. I mean, it was like the most Americanized course you can get. Yeah. Yeah. It is very much like stadium. Yep. Americanized golf. It’s lovely. It is lovely. JCB and I heard it’s one of the most prestigious and like exclusive courses in UK. Is that right? Yeah. I wouldn’t say prestigious. It It is very exclusive. It was originally built, I think, just for um JCB’s customers, but then they then they now open it up to the corporate membership. Um but yeah, you can’t just like rock up and pay for a tea time. It’s it’s hard to get that. So, it’s a it’s a good old test though off those back te’s criy. Some of those holes are long a proper golf holes, aren’t they? Where do you play your golf mainly? Yeah. So, I’m a member at Warrington. Warrington? Yeah. No idea where that’s at. in between Manchester and Liverpool. Gotcha. Yeah. And then we have like Burkeale Hillside there 35 40 minutes from me. Yeah. I played Burkeale. That was really cool. I have that one on my channel. It’s really fun. Yeah. That’s a golf course. I had the Caddy the Caddy Master came to Caddy for me. He gave me some amazing insight to the course. Yeah, it’s uh it’s special that play. I think that’s the the second best open course. Port Rush just topped it. Yep. To go. Yeah, maybe have an idea of what I want to do before I hit it would be a hu a huge help in the uh the a suite here for Evan. Impressive ball striker is what I’ve uh figured out here so far. Like when I sat with Mizuno, I told him I was like, “My biggest struggle in my golf bag is woods. I can’t hit a fairway wood.” So, they made this on the tour truck STG. It’s a fivewood bent down to a 3-wood. And I’ve become I’ve become a fairway wood fan. So, that’s a big shout out to Mizuno up. The G is like an absolute missile in it. I had I had a 3-wood in it and I was like I actually took it out because it was getting too close to driver. Yeah. No, it this one is good. But I uh I don’t know what I’m doing here. Um I’m going to go for it. I don’t know why. I think uh I’m just going to try to do it. All right, here we go. I got 275 wind off the left. If I just hit, you guys probably can’t see the flag, but if I just hit a little cut, the wind’s going to take it to the center of the green. So hopefully I can get this. If he gets this on, this is a proper golf shot. My hat came off right when I hit that. What’s that? That’s actually okay. That’s right where the uh construction workers are. That was such a scary shot. Yeah, that was such a scary. It was rifled though. It just went You hit it too straight. I hit it really straight. Right. 160. 160. Where is this wind? Straight into 160. Is it a seven or is it an eight? I’m going to hit a sign because the ball is going quite a long way out here. I go sort of middle of the green. Take my five because this pin is perched about three inches off the left of Death Valley. So, eight iron just 20 foot right. That’s fine. All right. That’s going to work. Yeah, that’ll be a fun putt. But yeah, that’s going to be slick, man. These They’re not making these uh pins easy on us, huh? No. They heard we were coming out, so they thought, “Right, we’re going to get you.” Oo, soft hands. Great shot. That well played. That’s a tough one. That’s tough to get close with that pin. That is uh that is very good cuz that pin is tight. I’m gonna be faced with quite the putt down here now. I’m expecting Evan will be creeping it close here. There’s some bunkers up the right and left but actually with this wind they don’t really come into play today. It’s down and off the It’s pretty straight down really. It feels looking at the flag as well. Smash away. I’m going to go with the bomb here. So I learned this. Do you know a kid? Just got So, he taught me this driver that I get a little bit more distance and ball speed. If you just open up your stance, so this is my normal stance here and just really feel like a wide Yeah. Um, so FBS is like your Ohio State, your Michigan, your Florida, your all the big schools. Um, and yeah, I just played really good my last year of football and I played both in school. So, it was really really cool to uh experience both sports in college and and then injury take you out of it. Yeah. Yeah. I tore my bicep right here. I tore my bicep the last regular season game and it led me to golf. Yeah. It was painful, but like I just feel like with how hard I play at inside backer, I hit every play, like an injury was bound to happen at some point. But yeah, now I’m here. If it sits up though on top, which this one looks like it is, you can get nice contact and stop it like that. Nearly dunked. Just like that. Like I get driver out and it’s just just poor that and then my mental game as well. Just getting that in shape more than anything. But it’s big. So a lot of the championships and you know opens that they have on the PGA tour all the tournaments some have the you know qualifying to get into it and uh I really just try to push myself to compete in this sport. And obviously not showing the best performance today but uh been playing a lot of great golf and I feel like a breakthrough is coming. I feel like if I can get this putter hot at the right time, yeah, you got it. I can really I can really break through and uh make one of these events because I just want to show people if you have a a dream and a goal and you just work really hard and you um you know, would that be every every PJ tour event then they do that? No, they only do that for probably half of them, I would say. Yeah. Like some of them are invitationals, you know, like the Genesis Invitational is Arnold Palmer Invitational. Um Yeah. And the be the beer, right? So there wouldn’t be a qualifying for that. They wouldn’t. No. So it’s just like the like the below sort of uh signature series stuff like the Honda Classic, the Bermuda Championship, the you know the There’s one at TPC Sugarloaf, isn’t there? In the Mitsubishi, is it? Oh, that’s the Champions Tour, is it? Right. Okay. Right. You’re not there yet. Yeah, I’m not about 25 26 years away. I got that out the bottom. Oh, that was about a foot from being awesome. Yeah, it’s that was really tough. It’s like down, but there’s a little ridge I tried to land it on. So, I I just want to give myself the top of it uphill par putt. So, happy with that. All right, here we go. I got this uh par look straight up the hill. I’m gonna hit this one straight at it and just give it some gas. Try to find the bottom here. That was cruel. That looked very very win any match when you can’t find the bottom of the cup. Oh man, this is uh this is brutal. It’s happens to most people when they play with me. The intimidation factor is just overriding. Yeah. Oh, that’s a great birdie. Back to it. Back to back. US couldn’t make a putt. Europe just playing really steady, really solid golf. Um, what we did, it’s been uh it’s been fun to watch Matt today. That’s right. Nice ball. That is so good. Good swing, dude. That’ll be decent. That very good. Don’t listen. Don’t chase it. Don’t Don’t hurt yourself. I’m not I’m not Don’t want another torn bicep. This is the only thing that I’ve I feel like that I’ve done well today is drive the ball. You’ve excelled in driving the ball. So, I’m going to just stick to the stick to the swing thought here and hit a good one to finish and carry on with it. So, let’s hit a let’s hit a bomb right here to end. Oh man, I kind of sky it. Could be okay. I think that’s perfect. Oh, I lost the mic. Oh boy. You swung that hard his mic fell off. I got I don’t got anything to lose, so I had to go after that one. I don’t think that’s happened to me in 10 years of making videos. I’ve ever swung that hard. A mic’s come off. It’s a lot of buildup anger and aggression of missing 10 foot putts over and over again. That’s me. Evan’s 70 by me, but it don’t matter because I’ve won. Um 245 down the wind, 217 up to the front and it is downwind. So I reckon I think if I hit a little four iron, it’s either it’s 245 to the flag. So I either hit seven would like a cuty one, but I just feel like it’s going to go on this wind. 215 is playing probably 200. So this is a 215 club. So this will probably get 230 if I get it right. just go up to the left and give myself like a chip or a long putt. Oh, be good. Where is it? It’s about 20 foot. Right. If you look zoom in right at my biggest fan behind the green, you see the ball there? Oh yeah, sitting pretty. Ready for that big bird. The dagger has been driven, has been delivered to the mighty US. Nothing will stop the paste machine. Even though it’s not been the best day, I really just want to finish off finish off strong. I think that’s uh can take that with me and and just build on today’s round. Just really try to work on the things I didn’t do well today. So, I got sixiron, 220. Nice high cut up and over these trees. Oh, that’s carry carry carry. Right in the face of it. Yeah, it’s going to be plugged probably. Did not get the green. No, I I hit way behind it. Yeah, I thought I saw a pitch on the uh front edge. We both found the putting surface. Yeah, this was a very pleasant surprise. I thought it was right in that bunker there, but you know what? Got a putt of eagle. And not going to uh say I’m going to do anything special, but there’s something I think the match is way out of reach at this point. Uh but hey, end with a birdie here. I would not be sad. I mean, it’s golf. It happens, you know, going to have some bad rounds and today it came out. So, just really going to hit this one good and get out of here. Not far away. Okay. Right. Eagle put 30 ft up the hill. Maybe not even 30 ft. 25. Come on now. Make the big bird. This would be great way to cap the round off. No, no. Great putt. Great putt.
