The big lad caught up with Katherine Rednall after the final
Should I stand on tiptoes? Do this. And good evening everybody. Well, good evening everybody. We’ve just come to the final of the uh ladies match play qualifier here at Nottingham to We’ve had a great weekend. Well done, Miss Rednull. Thank you. I asked you earlier on the day when was the last time you had to play a qualifier. When can you remember what you said? I think it was eight years ago. Eight years ago. It was about eight years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Did you think you’d ever be playing another qualifier? I hoped I wouldn’t, but here we are. Yeah. Um I mean it was a great final. I mean Jacqueline played well. You both really played well. Um, obviously I don’t know whether the pace of the green changed with the less people in the in the building, but I know you did say it’s quicker over this side than that side. Yeah, I started off on rink eight and it was like sludge on the ditch hand. um and then came to four and there was a a real pace difference. But I’ve sort of scratched around for a pace all day to start with and and really had to utilize the trial ends cuz I think we were we were saying so many of us have been saying all day all those tight lines and you think, “Oh, don’t get in them, you’ll be short, just avoid them.” But it’s it’s so easy to just fall into the trap. But yeah, it’s been it’s been a testing day. It has been a long one considering you started off on rink on the far side which I bet you were really looking forward to. I was really pleased. Yeah. Entering at what time was it? Was it Were you on second? 10:00. That was fast. Yeah. You on first safety. You’re really looking forward to that. Um just going back to the final. Did you think you were lying shut down the bottom when you drew that smoker about the second last stand, was it? No, I fancied it for one down. Um the more I looked at the more I thought I was one down as well, but I’d played a couple of good ones with my first two. Didn’t have anything other than the draw, so just had to put it out and hope it came back, which luckily it did. Yeah. And of course, you put the backing in for the last end. I know it was a hard hand for Jack Lane to play because I think she played Did you play a couple of runners down? Yeah, it’s a it’s a really it’s renowned for being a tricky hand to play pace down. I’ve played a couple of finals on there over the last few years and you you get out on what you think is the right line and you never come back and then as soon as you bring it in a bowl you’ve gone. So I tried to avoid playing anything down there and I think that was my only savior that Jackie was having to play the difficult hand. Yeah. So six times winner. Yeah. I was going to say number is it lucky seven hopefully. Yeah, we’ll see. Yeah, I’m not sure. I haven’t even looked at the draw. So, um see where Potters? Yeah. How many How many years have you been to Potters now? I bet you can’t. My first was 200 and I want to say 12. 12. How old were you? 12. I was 18. 18. Yeah. Tremendous. Tremendous. Well, many congratulations. I look forward to watching you again because I’ll I enjoy watching you because you you play I’m not going to say it. I’m not going to say you play a man’s cup because you you play attacking bulls. Yeah. And and it’s good to watch and you you’re a credit to the sport. My forehand run has saved me a few times. Well, that’s I was in the area. I always say you’ve got to be in the area to get a result, haven’t you? So, well done again and best of luck to potters and uh best of luck in Malaysia as well. Yes. Thank you very much. Looking forward to it. Okay. Cheers, folks. Well, thanks very much.
