Welcome to Ball Busters. Our golf myth-testing series, where we find out what really makes a difference in your game.

In this episode, Coach Nick and I test four different balls: a bald range ball, a Bridgestone Extra Soft, a Vice Pro, and an RCT Pro V1x, all on TrackMan with the same 7-iron. Is there a difference in the trajectory and the distance? #golfball #golf #aerodynamics Check out the crazy golf ball flight!

Does premium really mean better? Let’s find out.

[Music] Welcome to this new segment we’re going to call ball busters. We’re going to test common mids in golf to see if there are differences between things like ball condition and ball brands. And we’re going to test that by utilizing Trackman today here at Golfinity. And since my swing is so inconsistent, I’m going to enlist the help of PGA coach Nicholas Trice. And together, we’re going to see if these balls actually make a difference. Start off with the Dimplest ball. This ball has absolutely no grooves whatsoever. Our second ball is the Bridgestone Extra Soft. Our third practice ball is the Vice Pro. Our main contender, which should rule them all, is going to be the Titalist Prov1 RCT ball, which is made for the indoor simulator and should kill the game. We’re both using my club, which is the JPX 925 hot metal. That way, we get the same readings across the board. We’re not using different clubs, exact same balls, and we’re going to see how these balls perform today on Ball Busters. My first ball, dimpleless Callaway Range Ball. My favorite part about this is that you can hit it 190 or 120 with the same club speed. My prediction is that it performs just like a range ball. Highly inconsistent, sounds horrible, might split during our filming. Damn. My prediction is this will not fly right. Trackman will not be able to pick it up as there is not really any dimples on this ball and it is fairly smooth. So 7 iron should spin I tend to spin the ball lower. 7 iron should spin, you know, at least 6,000. This is not spinning very much. 184 carry is a lot for my 7 iron. Although this 7iron goes a little further than mine. Height is 88 ft. Little higher ball speed. Little higher club speed probably. No. 85. All right, that’s the highest one. I would expect this one to not spin very much, but it isn’t. It’s spinning 5700s, which may mean that the uh distance is more than it should be. So, we’ll see based on the other balls. That was a good swing. Yeah, honestly, I think we can probably change to the next ball. All right, club speed is picking up. Spin went way through the roof on that one. So, my spin is way more than his, but I am nowhere close to his distance. And it’s crazy because our club speed was roughly the same on there. I’m not far off on club speed, but my carry is nowhere close. So, it’s it’s insane power. I’m obviously a bit bigger than Coach Nick and he’s carrying the ball because he’s so much more efficient than I am. All right, let’s go ahead and switch over. Sean the groupings would be interesting. Um, honestly, I have no responses on the balls after seeing his numbers cuz he went first. Um, and mine I don’t know. I don’t I don’t even want to talk about it actually. Let’s just go on to the next ball. Our second ball is the Bridgestone Extra Soft. My prediction is that this ball have great compression because it’s soft. I don’t think the distance will be as good with this ball as say with the Prov or the Vice Bridgestone Extra Soft outside. These are supposed to be longer off the tea, designed for slower swing speeds. I’m not exactly sure how it’s going to to perform in here. I mean, we may notice a little difference if we were going to play golf, but today it probably will be pretty similar, maybe if anything lower spin, which means a little more distance on the total. I think we should focus on carry the most on all of today. Action. Action. Here we go. Spins a little lower, partially due to me drawing that potentially, but it doesn’t look like the spin is majorly being affected by the ball. Feels a little better. Sounds a little better. There’s the spin back up. Incredible smash, which means the ball speed’s going very high. And there’s a spin down again. So, some inconsistent spin numbers coming out of this ball. The speed was up and down and the spin was up and down. So, somehow the the consistency on this ball went down from the dimpleless ball. I guess you could argue that with dimples on it, it is spinning differently and maybe reading the spin a little better, but it’s less consistent in spin. Even when I’m hitting it solid, the distance is going up and down. And it was definitely higher than my normal distance and higher than the previous ball’s distance. This go around is much better. My spin is still about 2,000 more than Coach Nicks. So, my spin is is up. Um, we’re going to go 169. Remember, we’re still using a seven iron, so everything is fading. I definitely like the way the Bridgestone feels coming off of the club versus the Dimpless ball. I feel like this one, it’s almost like a marshmallow coming off. I can feel it compressing when I do strike the ball. Good. So, I do like the Bridgestone better than a Dimplist ball. Um, again, my numbers aren’t like Coach Nicks, so let’s just All right, BR. All right, the restart. Okay, the Vice Prooft with speckles on it. More than anything, this just looks great. I’d want to play this just to be cool. How it’s going to perform this sim, I’m not really sure. It probably we won’t see much of a difference between this and some of the other spin numbers on our Bridgestone, maybe. But our final ball may spin the most accurate. Maybe a little more distance than the Prov, but less distance than the Bridgestone. The Vice Pro. This ball here, I think, will perform really good with our first contender for our next ball. I don’t think there’ll be much difference between this and say a Prov. The Vice Golf Ball looks great. Makes me feel great. Sounds even better. Launching a little higher. Spinning about the same. Carrying about the same. Should we quit after one? That was a pretty good swing. Wow. Ball’s going up in the air. I’m already liking this ball better. It’s not spinning much more, but it’s certainly climbing up in the air more. So happy about that. Yeah. 185 in the air. Little more spin, but nothing notable about the spin yet. It’s going higher. So maybe Trackman’s not picking up on all the spin, but it’s picking up on something about the height of the ball that’s happening. So that’s positive. This is This is closer to a ball I would play. Uh again, I’m not convinced of the distance or the spin. I mean, this is not my club, and I know this club goes further than my club cuz I’ve hit it a few times. The ball’s going higher, and I think that is true. Something about this ball is making Trackman read it a little bit more accurately. I still think the spin number is quite low compared to what it truly would be outside. So, something is happening with this ball that’s making it incorrect. Yep. My dispersion is way better. My distance is better. from making more better contact even. I don’t know. This ball is a gamer, man. Like, I didn’t expect it to feel the way that it feels. Feels great coming off. And I do like playing with softer balls. Like my main ball is that Bridgestone, but this one is so much better. Man, this is this is so solid. I got a little bit of my dignity back. I know y’all seen them distances. Okay. Uh but yeah. So anyways, great ball. I really like the vice ball. Um, we got the Prov1 next, but I like the vice ball. My dispersion was good. The contact was good. My distance was okay. So, let’s go on to the next ball. What is supposed to be our most accurate ball, Tylus Prov1X, but RCT, so it has something on the finish of the ball that we can’t see. Kind of like a dog whistle, but for Trackmans, the Trackman can see something in here that we can’t. The spin numbers should be better. The carry numbers should be extra accurate. I prefer accuracy over anything. I don’t want my distances to be juiced and make me feel good and then go outside and have them be different. So, it should be pretty accurate to our carry distance. This ball is going to be an absolute monster. My goal for this is that it’s going to give us the best readings of them all. We’re going to get spin, tack angle. We’re going to get everything with this ball. Okay? Everything that you golfers know what should come out of this ball. Come on, spin. Come on, spin. somewhat. It’s definitely going higher. Definitely spinning more. I don’t know. It’s a better ball. It’s a better ball. Yeah, it’s the ball I use. R1X. I don’t use the RCT ball outside, but it is the ball I use. 105 ft in the air. Give me a break. Lot more stable ball flight. I mean, I’m hitting it maybe a little better. I don’t know. But it’s definitely a sta more stable ball flight is something I can say. But we’ll have to see if that carries through to our amateur friend. I’m totally put that in there. As I say that shank spins up though. Spins up. Yeah, that heel strike man. That’s why your spin’s so high, by the way. Is it really? Yeah, the heel strike struck. Well, it’ll be interesting to see what your spin is. If it’s above 6,000. Yeah. I mean, that’ll be the main reason your your your distance isn’t as high as That’s true. You’ll see your club speed be close to mine, maybe, but the spin is going to be the difference maker. This club goes further than mine, which is great, but we were here for the balls. And the what the balls tell me is that the Titalus is a little more stable. that I have a little more predictability on my distance, my direction, my height. The spin didn’t really change drastically for me. Indoors, I find that doesn’t happen. Um, off mats. Something about hitting off mats. Maybe the spin is a little different out here inside than outside. But the ball did change the characteristics of the flight through the uh testing period. I noticed the Titalist gave me the best predictability. It also happens to be the ball I play, so I felt the most comfortable with it. So, we’ll continue the test and see if it holds true as we go to other swingers of the bat. This one compresses nice. It compresses really nice, but I still like the way that vice fits. Good shot. Horrible balance. Jesus. I know you ain’t supposed to compare yourself to people. I am totally comparing myself to people. I’m all over the place. I’m shooting this crazy like shank slice fade thing. It’s like a push fade. But um overall my best ball was the vice. I love the vice ball. Yeah. Let’s take a look at the shot dispersions. The dimplest ball. The main story was it was going lower and it had less spin. The launches were about the same. The ball speeds a little low. The Bridgestone pretty solid. Ball speed was okay. Spin was low. Height was on the low side. So definitely would avoid using this golf ball for my own game. The big surprise was the vice. I normally play the uh Titalist Prov1X, but the Vice was the most stable. It was going about the same height as the Prov1, maybe a little lower and a little lower spin, but it performed really well and the ball stably kind of in the center. So, not a lot of curve, not a lot of dispersion. I kind of looked for dispersion and then a little more dispersion. Maybe I was swinging a little harder. It looks like I picked up a few miles an hour. A little more dispersion on the Titalist. Ball was definitely going the farthest with the Titus. Couple of low spin balls, but so not a huge change in spin through all the golf balls. I noticed that indoors is pretty common. If anything, a little uptick in spin and certainly uptick in launch as we got to the better golf balls. The big surprising golf ball was the vice where it was a little more stable and a little more predictable of ball flight. But of course, the one I play, the Prob did go the further. It kind of for me the the the better balls are probably the better choice for my swing speed and the way I strike the ball. There was definitely a worse ball and that was that dimplest ball. I felt like it didn’t come off the club right. I could tell it didn’t catch the grooves. It didn’t compress as well. The vice was the most sturdy and stable of all of the balls. I did like how the RCT compressed on the club. I could feel that marshmallow flick much better with the RCT. Although I did feel it with the bridged on because it was soft. There was a difference in how it felt if that makes sense. So overall, I did really enjoy that Vice Pro and I’ll probably honestly be buying more of those Vice Pros because that seems to be a great ball. Other than that, I’m new. I don’t really notice much difference between the balls. I think for me it’s more of my swing that needs to focus and not necessarily which ball I play. So if you’re a beginner, I don’t think it matters as much as which ball you play. More as you making sure you get the correct coaching lessons and get that swing on playing. H up [Music] hey up. Hey hey hey.
