Welcome back to the five under challenge. That was amazing, dude. Come on. Today we have the 13time PGA Tour winner, Jason Day. He was the former number one ranked golfer on the planet and he is 12th for all time PGA Tour earnings. You’re like 2 feet away. No, I’ve been drinking a matcha today. I’ve been big into matcha recently. What is matcha? It’s like tea. It’s like a crushed up It’s like this green tea. Does it taste right? Yeah, it tastes great. But it looks terrible. Yeah. If it’s If it’s not made right, it’ll taste like you’re drinking grass. Fair enough. Yeah. So, but my wife knows how to make it really good. Okay. And so, and then ever since then, like, well, how long have you been drinking matcha? For like the last year or two. Okay. And now it’s like I can taste a good one. It’s like coffee. Are you a coffee guy? Well, I do like coffee. It’s just immediately after I drink a coffee, things happen and I got to run. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Fair enough. Jason took us to a course here. Uh, so it was good in parts. Unfortunately, I got injured a couple of times. I struggled mightily there for a second. I mean, I was down to 167 mph on the ball speed on the on the driver. Like I like I mean just because of the just because of the neck. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. So, is this is that my ball up there? That’s your ball there. Got uh 20 just outside 20 ft. somewhere between 20 25 ft slightly left or right down the hill. Uh these greens tend to not break as much as the, you know, most greens. They’re pretty relatively they’re flat, but they’ll break, but they’re not as much as you think. So, no way. How does that not drop? That was That was close. That was That was almost a really good four out of all of it. Oh man. Okay. One over. Okay. Not the best start. Easy, easy, easy, easy. Oh, Grant. Sneaky quick down that hill, boy. It’s all right. Oh, just silky there, lad. Well done. That That’s like my nightmare right there, Jason. especially in college was like starting out in a tournament or in a video like this with that like four and a half five footer just to save a bogeyear part like it’s the war cuz like you want to settle into the round. Yeah. You just kind of want to have a good start. It’s like getting a good t-shot away, get it on the green. Yeah. Thinking you know what I mean? Like get get things kind of settled and then you’re like, “Okay, I can go.” Right. It’s It’s weird. It’s like if I start off with a birdie it I I never feel like it’s a good thing. No, same here. Why is that Why is that? I don’t know. I don’t know why that like a bogey start if you make a putt like that. Yeah. Yeah. It’s going to be a great day. So, what’s a normal round for like a good round for you out here? Yeah. From the tips. Like from the tips, what’s a good round you would consider like Oh, that was good. Um, anything anything like like outstanding is 8 to nine. I would say good is five under, seven under, and four to even par is just average. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, it’s pretty good. Okay. I’m going to hit a little flighted here. Like a low one. and try and get something chasing. Nice. There we go. Beauty. Thank you. Beauty. Is that kind of the line there? Yeah. I mean, so see that uh like electric tower in the background like directly at that. Okay. Oh, no. It’s a It is a par five, so if it goes in that pot there, we’re just laying up anyways. So, we’ve got 200 uh 210 yards to 100 yards. 210 to that bunker on the left, you’re saying? Well, no, that’s going to give 210 yards will give you 100 yards to the pin. Okay. So, and that won’t that keeps you well short of that pot. Gotcha. Yeah, cuz you don’t want to re you don’t want to lay up in that pot. You know what I mean? Like even if you have 110 or 120 yards, it’s better than laying up in that pot. 100%. Easy. Get on the ground. My goodness. Okay. Not bad. Okay. Yeah, that’s fine. Rough. Well, that and then like typically you don’t take a big enough divot for the grass to grow back, right? Anyway, so it just dies and they’re coming back. But I will say like your swing, your setup, everything about it. You have an explosive lower body. You know what? I appreciate that, dude. You’re like four feet away. 3-wood. 3-wood. That very rarely happens for me. I’m not a Scottish Shefflet type of guy that just bombs a 3-wood next to the pin, but I will take it against Grant Horvette today. I’m playing against you, but like if I focus on my game, I should be able to play well enough to be able to shoot a decent enough score to beat you. So, I’m just And you can beat me and be nice at the same time. So, is it scarier that he’s being nice to you? Uh, a little bit. It is. It’s It’s interesting. I don’t know. I was just playing in my competition on the first hole and then now like I got a little comfortable. All right for our birdie. Come on. This is probably pretty fast. No, it stayed left. All right. Okay. It’s a par. So why you got a normal grip on that on uh that lab? Yeah. reason, you know, I don’t know. I mean, this is the one Scotty’s using. So, I walked Okay. Yeah. I walked into PJ Tour Superstore and just uh told the guy I was like, I want to change it up. And he he actually warned me. Do people kind of freak out when you walk into a PJ Tour Supertore and go, “Is it Grant? Is that Gran Hovet coming in?” Uh, yeah. Well, the guy Yeah. The guy behind the desk, he watched the channel and he’s like, “Where’s your long putter?” And he was confused. So, I walk in with this lab and it had the the normal grip on it and I was like, “You know what? I just want to change it up.” Yeah. And he like warned me. He’s like, “Dude, I wouldn’t do this because it will the waiting will get messed up.” Yeah. Did Did it No. I mean, this is the best I’ve putt in a long time. Okay. I I just want to know like if you know like kind of like the within the tour you guys probably all know cuz I just I’ve heard that Tiger used to do little things to kind of Well, okay. So, this one I heard uh this a while ago, but there’d be a sign on a par three that he would put his, you know, hand on the on the head cover and and it was to the point where like, “Okay, Steve, let me be. Don’t cuz he would go in there and let’s just say for instance, like 12 at Augusta.” Yeah. He would go, it could be an eight iron, but he could clip a little seven iron in in there and make it look like, oh man, why he like he hit seven iron there? Because most guys go over and see what the other guy’s hitting. Oh, okay. So, they go, “Oh, okay. If he’s hitting seven iron,” and they judge it like, “Okay, I’m a little bit further or a little bit shorter. I’ll hit an eight or I hit a six, whatever.” So, um, for him to go in there and go, um, yeah, I’m going to take some off a seven, hit it, and then that just throws everyone off. You either go, “Okay, I’ll hit seven too over the green.” But he would do that on purpose. Yeah. Yeah. Dude, this guy, he was he was he was nuts, man. Like, he was he was so freaking good. Okay. Um, let me see here. Yeah, I heard it. I heard it. It could be. I’m fine, man. I’m Oh, you’re fine. You made it interesting for a second. Dude, you must love the game. Yeah, I do. Dude, I This guy plays every every day. You said almost every day. Bro, you love the game. I do. And I don’t know what I love so much about it, but I think it is also like right now I feel so bad over the ball. And I know it’s only been two holes, but I feel like it could go like that T-shot, zero confidence. I just said a prayer and just swung. It was nice. The the prayer worked. Oh, Grant. Um my brain is rattling right now just on the the new clubs and trying to get this spin. So, I got 115. I think it’s going to jump because it’s spinning. Whereas my old clubs wouldn’t do that. So, I’m just I’m going to say it’s 115. That’s uh 50. That’s a sand wedge right now. If it jumps, it’s perfect. If it if I go with the gap wedge and it jumps, it’s long, right? You know what I mean? That’s incredible. I mean, you play at such a high level and you see these guys just getting into the game and they’re getting so mad at themselves when they don’t hit it the right distance. You’ve been doing this your whole life. I mean, yeah. Once again, this is like these are new clubs, so I’m trying to like get comfortable and figure it out. But this I’m just going to go with the my gut instinct that this thing is going to jump and go from there because if you play with clubs long enough, you kind of get a a kind of an an understanding of what your clubs are doing. So, me and Jason are saying a lot of prayers today. Yeah, kind of came out left. Oh, nice shot. That was pretty did jump. Beauty. Came out a little bit left, but that was nice. Give myself a chance of making birdie after thinking I was in the bloody hazard. Yeah, you played with Wesley Brian. You guys did a one v one and he I think he shot us 84, I believe. Oh, bro. It could have been 90. He birdied like four of the last whatever how many holes. It was like on the verge of being 90. And I’m sitting there going like, Wesley, what are you doing? It was great. And that was right at the time that I had this in my neck injury. So I was hitting it nowhere. And I was you probably you could probably hear me on the on the on the camera saying, “Oh man, my neck is sore.” So I wasn’t performing great. But like he made my job very very easy that day. Yeah. You didn’t even have to, bro. I didn’t like I think I could have played left-handed potentially and and and might might have actually I lied about that. He it was it was quite impressive to watch. Yeah. You never know what you’re going to get with him. No. And it’s so true. And it’s Well, what’s more impressive is he keeps going in to try and do those taps. I’ll tap from six. Oh, I know. I know. And he started that whole thing like he truly does. He’ll get up and just tap in like that. Sixfooters. All right. Up the hill. Left to right. Left to right. It just a little pace on that. Yeah. A little too hard. Yeah. I’m going to give you a piece of advice. These I said it to Sky in the first hole, but I didn’t tell you. These greens don’t really break as much as you think. Okay. Usually some of my best rounds have come from when I’ve just gone, I’m hitting it terrible on the range and I I always turn to my cat say, “I’ll find it out in the golf course.” Yeah. Just go out and find it. No, that’s true. Sometimes you got to Yeah. You don’t have time. You’re not going to find it on the range. Um Okay. 198 yards. Wind’s light and variable, so it’s going to move around a little bit today, but it feels like it’s kind of coming this way. So, I’m just going to try and hit it just left of the pin. And it’s like his body, everything’s so stable. If you ever like notice, he’s like a robot. Yeah. And it just it doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to go offline. No. And I’m so happy. Which is which is nice. It’s so cool to see him that he finally broke. Oh, dude. Finally. Right. It’s 464 yard par four, fifth hole. Par four. Par four. Wow. It’s a beast. It is a beast. Wind’s back in out of left. It’s a tight driving hole. Dog leg right. We want to I’m going to hit a flighted driver. I don’t want to go too far. Um, but we want to try and get something down the middle of the fairway. There’s a last hump there. You kind of want to try and go just a little bit right of that. And that’s perfect. Then we go over ravine into the par four and into the green. So, just a nice little flight of driver. Try and get something going down the middle. Sit there. Swinging right now. Sit there. Sit. Sit. And then and then next week or two weeks later, the British Open, they’ve shaving the Yeah. Yeah. And all the Tigers TE’s are like Yeah. Like this. Yeah. 188. Take a little off this sixiron. We’re going to cut it in there. Back. right pen. So, if we start this at the center of the green, I want it to just slowly fade to the pen. That’s nice right there. That was lovely. Like I mean anything over I think 190 yards or so if you just hit the middle if you hit the green you’re picking up strokes on the field really. So you just got to hit the green. You can hit it like left. You’re still picking up strokes on on on the field. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Well that’s great man. Okay. I’m going to hit a I’ll hit a six iron but I’m just going to choke down and kind of uh just punch one up there. Sit. Oh man. Sit. Oh man. Sit. Oh, it did jump. It did jump. That was all over it, too. So, once again, I’m trying to get used to these these clubs just to try and find out what the characteristics of each shot is going to present. Um, that was a nice shot, but it came out flyer. my old clubs would have like spun up a little bit more and I think that would have it would have gone close to the pin if I hit my old club. So, well, I’m glad you’re trying them out today. Yeah. Thanks, man. You know, you’re only two under. So, you could get three if you had your old club. Oh, dude. What the world? That was a great shot. It just came out like a bullet, you know. Yeah. Little adversity for you finally. Oh, no. All right, so we got uh we got lucky. It hit the ups slope here, man. Obviously, you you want to hit the green, but you know, we’re not in a bad shape here. We’re just going to play this uh little rough shot down the hill. I’m going to get a feel here really quick. I’m going to play it and let you know how I played it after the after the fact, dude. Oh, come on. Come back. No. Yeah, that was dirty, dude. So the obviously I you guys saw that the main thing here is you want to make sure that you’re going down with the hill. So this is like a pretty steep slope here. So if you’re back here, you’re most likely going to dump it here. You got to check figure out your shoulders. Get your shoulders kind of level with that. You’ll have an extreme amount of weight here. But then you just want to kind of just feel that you’re going the club is going down with the slope. Once you do that, Yeah. Um because you see a lot of golfers, they kind of fight the slope. Yes. You know. Yeah. And then they kind of they either come out of it and they either dump it back, hit it fat, or they thin it across the green. So that’s some good that’s some great stuff there cuz that’s the one thing about, you know, you go from the range to the golf course and then, you know, the range it’s all flat, right? And it’s great. You get on the course and now you’re like this and you don’t even know you gota, you know, that’s why you get get out there and play. Do you want me to finish that off or if you want me? Yeah, go ahead. Yeah. Tap it in. All right. P. Still two under. All right. I’m going to play very minimal break now moving forward.
