I’ve been gaming a L.A.B putter all year, but couldn’t pass up the chance to put it head-to-head against the PXG Hellcat to see which zero torque putter reigns supreme. 2 putters, 72 holes and 113 putts later, here’s what we learned.

A year ago, your only real zero torque putter option was to drop 500 bucks on a lab. Today, zero torque is everywhere. The PXG Hellcat ZT just dropped a bomb at half the price. Just 250 bucks. I’ve been gaming the Lab Oz one all season. But when PXG dropped the $249 Hellcat, I had to test it head-to-head against my lab. Two putters, two rounds each, 72 holes, and 113 putts later, here’s what I found. I ran 18hole simulations with both putters twice. Same practice screen, same distances, same conditions. The result, I needed three fewer putts with the Hellcat. But let’s not overreact. Performance was basically a tie. Obviously, there are some huge differences between these two putters. Lab is handbalanced, fully customizable, and premium through and through. PXG mass-produced, fewer customization options, but incredible value at $2.49. If money is no object and you want peak craftsmanship, go Lab. If you want elite performance without dropping 500 bucks, the PXG Hellcat ZT is a no-brainer. Two very different putters, same goal. Sink more putts. The best choice for you depends on your budget and your game.

  1. Played my first round with my Hellcat ZT this past weekend. I’m a 19 handicap and only had 32 putts for my lowest round ever of a 87. Only 3 putted once. This is my first Zero Torque Putter.
