We all have to stop and take a look when Titleist comes out with a new golf ball because it doesn’t happen often. Is this new golf ball the golf ball that’s going to revolutionize your game? I’m Matt and this is the Bogey Depot. The Prov1X Double Dot. What is it? Well, the Prov1X Double Dot is the new tour only experimental golf ball by Titalist. So, where does the Prov1X dot sit in the Titist lineup? Well, first let’s look at the Prov1. The Prov1 is the golf ball to end all golf balls. It’s the one that everybody plays. Probably not the one everybody should play, but it’s the ball that everybody plays. The Prov1X, it’s based loosely off the Prov1. And this probably is the golf ball that a lot of people should be playing. It spins a little more. It flies a little higher. It goes a little bit further. the Prov1X left dash. That’s the one that Bryson and those guys were playing. And this is a ball that flies a hair lower than the Prov1X, a little bit higher than the Prov1. It spins less than both of them. And it’s hot off the face. It’s a lot harder of a golf ball, too. It kind of feels like you’re putting hitting balls with hitting a rock. It’s just not It’s not the softest golf ball out there. It doesn’t have epic amounts of spin around the green. It goes far and straight. Unless you ask Bryson and he says it doesn’t go straight enough for him. So, what does Titus do? Titleist goes out and brings out the Prov1x double dot. So, what the hell is the double dot? Well, Prov1 doing what Prov1 or Titalist doing what Titalist does. It doesn’t name it something different. That would be way too easy for all of us. We have to call it the Prov1X double dot because right beside the name PROV1X, it has two dots on the left hand side of it. And what does that ball do? Well, it’s the lowest flying of all of them. It doesn’t spin very much, but it does spin pretty well around the green. So, when I say it doesn’t spin much, it doesn’t spin much off the driver. It doesn’t spin much off the irons. It launches really, really low, but it does have some spin around the green. And that’s what these guys like. They want something that’s going to fly straight and something that is going to have a little check form around the green. And that’s something that the Prov1x left dash doesn’t have. It does not spin very well around the green. So, who should be using this? Well, not a lot of guys. A few Torros have changed to it. Bryson has moved to it. That’s the ball kind of he was talking about with uh at the Masters that he wanted a new golf ball that flew straighter and his ball at those swing speeds curves too much and blah blah blah blah blah and and he probably was right. JT Justin Thomas has also switched into this golf ball and Cam Young both of them switched into it kind of for the same reasons. Now, Cam Young, I believe, went from a left dash and JT went from a Prov1X into the Prov1X double or yeah, double dot. I’m even confusing myself with all these dots and dashes. The Prov1X double dot. And they went into these balls. Again, a little more controllable lower flight for them is something that they like. We think we hit it high. These guys hit towering golf balls. I think I saw something like Rory Maroy is hitting golf balls, hitting drives 140 feet in the air. That’s insane. The the young stud out at your club that swings at 10 million miles an hour doesn’t come close to hitting it that high and that far. These guys are anomalies. And guys, even though JT’s not thought of as a long guy, he’s long. Guy averages over 310 on drive. I mean, you and I, these normal humans don’t do that kind of stuff. And Cam Young, he hits it even further. So these guys are using it to control the spin mainly off their driver and their long irons. So it doesn’t spin quite as much and it gets around a green has a little check for them. So who should buy it? Probably nobody. Title list says 3 to 6% of tour pros are fit into this golf ball. That’s not a lot. If it’s 3 to 6% of tour pros, how many of it is of regular dudes? Like.1%. I don’t know. But it can’t be very much. So unless you’re hitting it in the 310 to 330 range off the tee and you’re having trouble with a massive hook, this ball is probably not for you. And you also better be hitting it about 130 120 ft in the air or again this ball is probably not for you. So is it something you should be waiting for and waiting for them to release to the public? No, not so much. But this next ball may be something for you. The ProV1X Left Dot. This was just released by Titalist in limited quantities. Why do you need this? Well, this is that ball that kind of it fits for a lot of people. It’s not a Prov1. So, it it launches a little bit lower than a Prov1. It launches with a little bit more speed than a Prov1. It spins a little bit less than a Prov1. And it’s a ball that there are a lot of people can play because unlike I’m going to confuse you, but the golf ball we just talked about, the Prov1X Double Dot, which doesn’t spin at all and it barely launches. This has just a slightly less launch than the regular Prov1 and it spins in my in my trials just a little bit less than the Prov1. It wasn’t a significant difference. I didn’t see something huge, but when you’re looking at a game of yards, it really can be something good. Where can you get this golf ball, you say? Where’s this magical golf ball come from? You can’t. Titleist released it. I got on Titalist’s website probably 25 minutes after I got the email and they were already out. Thank goodness. I was sitting at my desk and just happened to pull up my computer and I saw that Golf Galaxy was releasing some and I bought some from there. And then again later on that evening I saw Titleist send an email out. Hey, we found some more. We got them for sale. So, I bought some more there. So, one thing I’m going to do for you guys, I’m going to give away a couple sleeves of these Prov1 left dots to my listeners. You guys go down below into the comments, let me know why you would like a sleeve of these Prov1 left dots. Comment down there, tell me what it is. Make sure you subscribe and like the video, and I’ll pick two winners. and ship you out a sleeve of these Prov1 left dots. Super hard to get. In fact, at one point in time, two dozen of them were going for $700 on eBay. And that was the old model. This is a the new model that was just released. So, these are worth a good bit of money. So, make sure you subscribed, make sure you like, and make sure you comment and tell me why you want these golf balls below, and I’ll pick two winners. So, what’s the difference between the Prov1? You say, “Give me some good numbers.” Well, I’m going to give you I’m going to give you some specifics here in a second. First, it’s the Prov1’s softer feeling. This ball isn’t as soft as the Prov1. Now, is it as hard as a Prov1X? No, it just feels different than a Prov1X. I’d say it’s a little softer. Uh, I think that it’s a really good combination of feel. So, if you don’t like the super soft ball like a Prov1, but a ball that’s a little bit harder than a Prov1X, uh, you can tell a difference off the putter for sure. I think this definitely feels softer than Prov1X off the putter face. I actually really like the feel of this golf ball. I think it feels great. I’m an X player, but don’t get me wrong, I love the feel of a Prov1, but this is kind of a really cool middle ground. I would say the Prov1X is a little bit longer than this ball in my experience. Now, you’re talking to somebody that doesn’t hit the ball high. So, this ball is not for me. This Prov1 left dot is not a golf ball for me. It’s a golf ball for guys that swing harder, hit it further, launch it really high. That’s not me. You know, I’m a, you know, 100 or I’m a 33° 7 iron at 170 yard. This needs to be a 33 degree seven iron at 180 yard guy. Probably a guy that and hits it a mile in the air. There’s a guy at my club that I know that that probably would do really well with this golf ball. He’s been playing a Prov1 X left dash and this is probably a better golf ball for him. It does produce this Prov1 left dot does produce some spin. Uh, it’s it’s nothing ridiculous. I saw 200 yards less in spin on my irons than the regular Prov1. And I saw about that was with a seven iron and I saw about one degree less launch. So, so it launched one degree flatter. And I saw about the same thing with a driver to be honest with you. About one degree with the driver. It spun, you know, rounding air-wise about 200 RPMs less too, a little bit less than that, maybe more like 180 than the Prov1. The distance I didn’t notice a whole lot. The only time I did, I have a tendency to hit a shut the face down, left miss with my irons. Uh, and I saw this fly a good bit further than the Prov1. And I don’t know if that’s because it took even more spin-off and really got out there, but when I had this miss, I felt like I hit that further. Again, this is not a great golf ball for me, but I really think I know the type of person that can play this golf ball. And that’s the guy that has tried a Prov1x left dash and is like, “That ball’s a rock. It still flies a million miles in the air for me. And I need something that can control a little bit more. And this ball is that ball. This ball is going to be more controlling. It’s like the mini version of the Pro V1X Double Dot. This ball’s softer than that. This ball spins a little bit more than that. This ball goes a little bit higher than that. But it’s kind of that it’s the it’s the working man’s version. It’s exactly what these high-speed guys at your club or or maybe you should be trying if you’re re if you’re hitting it out there three plus and you know you have a slightly high launch angle and you’re getting your drives up there into the 120s uh as far as feet off the ground, you know, this might be a really good golf ball for you. It feels great. I think this would be a sweet golf ball for me on windy days. days when it’s really windy out, like I oftentimes pull a uh TP5X out on those days because it doesn’t quite spin as much. This would be a really good ball because a TP5X still launches fairly high. This launches lower. This would probably be a great ball on windy days. So, if you play in a climate that gets a lot of wind or you play in a climate that gets a little bit of wind and you’re a high ball hitter, that might be somebody else that may benefit from this golf ball. It’s a It’s a niche ball for most of us. It could be a daily driver for a lot of you high swing speed guys out there. I do believe that if you play in an environment that is just crushed by wind all the time, if you’re if you or you go over to the coast in uh Ireland or Scotland or England or a place like that and you’re going to be in some really windy conditions, this could be a really good golf ball for that. It just takes a couple hundred RPMs off your irons and driver. It launches a little bit lower. So, it’s not going to be drastically different, but it’s going to help you keep a little bit of wind off that golf ball. So, it’s always been a limited release. Will it always be a limited release? I have a feeling this could go to be a regular line golf ball. And that’s because I think it’s more playable than the left dash. I think the left dash got a lot of people excited when Bryson and those guys started to play it, but now we’re finding out that might not be the best golf ball for those higher swing speed guys. This may be something that benefits them. I think this has a really good chance of going into line permanently just like the left dash is. I don’t see a reason why they would hold it out. I know it’s a manufacturing cost thing. And is it going to be readily available ever? Probably not. Neither is the left dash. It’s not the Prov1x Left Dash is not a ball you can go to your local, you know, big box and find every day. They’re there, but they’re not there every day. So, why do people want it so bad? Exclusivity, man. Exclusivity. People want this because of exclusivity. People want to buy this. I wanted to try it. I wanted to see what all the rage was about. I wanted to see what everybody was saying about this ProVot. I think that that’s one of the reasons people want it. And there’s going to be certain people out there that this golf ball is just perfect for and the demand for is going to go through the roof for those people. They’re going to be your better players that don’t lose a lot of golf ball. So when they get into, you know, competitive play, they’re going to bust these out, not have to worry about losing them, and really help out their game. So I’m on a journey, boys and ladies. I’m on a journey. My putter has been something of a little bit of a disaster lately. To give you this journey, we’re going to go back about two years. And I was putting okay at that time. I come to realize I was putting bad, but for me it was okay. And a lot of the reasons that I wasn’t putting well was I couldn’t I couldn’t read greens. It was that simple. The only golf lesson I’ve ever taken was an aimoint lesson. And that was worth its weight in gold to me. There are two like I don’t know they rate aim point people to like three stars and four stars or five stars or whatever it is. But the holy grail the the the the grand pooa. There’s two of these people in the United States that have the highest rating for aimoint and one of them lives in my hometown. And I was like, you know what? Here’s whatever it was, 400 bucks, and it was like a two or three hour lesson, and I learned so much, and I improved so much from that. And I was putting really well. I had a Scotty Cameron uh 5.5 and I was rolling it really well and it was such a great putter. And then I realized, you’re rolling it well for you. you’re really not a good putter. You’re an average putter. So then I got bit by that Scotty Cameron bug and the Golo 6.2 or whatever it was, the limited edition came out and I had to have it. It had a little less toe hang than the club that I was in. I thought that would be something good for me. I liked it. I actually went through a stage of putting pretty well with it, but I never it just never did it for me. It wasn’t the perfect club, but I’m going to talk a lot more about these putters and some things in the video next week about or or the podcast depending on how you’re listening to this. I’m going to go over a lot more about each putter and what I think about each putter and why I liked each putter and why I didn’t like each putter and why I’m not with that putter anymore. So, after that go, I went back to the Scotty for a little bit and I was a disaster. At one point in time, I even got out of Newport 2. But anyhow, I ended up, long story short, save the long story for the next video. I ended up in a lab DF3. Putted lights out with it. Everything was fantastic. In fact, I was, when I tell you I was putting lights out, I was I felt like I could make anything inside of 15 or 18 feet. Now, did I? No. But I felt like I could. I was really really putting well. Then it kind of all went away. Uh, and you know, you have streaks. shift. There’s times where you’re putting great, you’re putting decent, you’re putting great, and I went from like putting great to like bad in like a two week span, and I was losing like two to four strokes gained per round, which was terrible. I didn’t do well. Then I all of a sudden like had an epiphany and I don’t even think I hit a putt that day on the greens. I walked out and gained 3.8 strokes uh putting, which was unbelievable. Well, why did I do that? We’re going to talk more about putters next week and and how those putters can help do that. But one of the things that helped me was confidence. I gained confidence. I went out there and was like, I’m going to effing make all these putts. I’m going to do it. I I’m going to make putts. And it’s hard to get that confidence sometimes, but boy, you can get one or two rolling in or rolling really close. You put a good You put a good stroke on it and all of a sudden that confidence starts to roll and then you read putts well too. I don’t know about you guys, but when I feel like I have a good read, I’m like an 80% make on that. Like if I’m like, “This is definitely where this putt is.” I’m like an 80% make because that confidence just bleeds into my stroke then. And I’m I’m just I’m just way better. And I was starting to read the the putts really well and things were starting to go in and I had a great round. I really did. And then my brain, you know, wanted to get in the way and I had one or two holes where it was and I kind of was like, “Hey, just stay loose. Stop worrying about things. Just try to get the ball close to the hole and roll it in.” And I started to do that again. I didn’t let my brain get in the way. And I think that’s a big thing with putting. A lot of people let their brain get in the way. And and that’s what was messing me up when I was putting well. I was in some scrambles. I was like, “Guys, I need one person to putt and show me the line just to make sure I can confirm what I think it’s going to do. I don’t need to see anybody else putt. Just let me putt second.” And I was rolling balls. And how can this help you? Well, it can help you because you need to take that same positive attitude to your putting and not just putting all of your game, but we’re talking about putting right here. And some things that positivity does is it loosens tension. You’re not death gripping the putter. You’re not worried about am I going to hit it 8 ft past. You’re worried about making putts. You’re being positive. You need to go up to the ball and go, I’m going to roll this putt in and I’m going to do it right now. And then you let your putter do the work. Get your brain out of the way. Just take your your natural swing and make your putts. And we’re going to talk more about your natural swing and and how that you can have the right putter for that swing. So sometimes your putter can be fighting against you like we talked about last week with wedges and how bounce and grind can be working against you. The same thing can be happening with your putter. But when all when you got all the equipment right and you got your stroke dialed in and you’re still not putting well, it’s all here. It’s all here. All you need to do is is get this right. And the way to get that right, my two tips for you are worry about speed. Worry about speed when you’re not putting well. Why? Because you can hit a putt a foot offline. If you have the speed right, you’ve only missed it by one foot, two inches. If you don’t hit a putt right and you have a left or right breaker and you miss it on the low side and you hit it soft, you might hit it a foot soft, but because it’s a left or right breaker, you might have two and 1/2 ft coming back cuz gravity took over and took it down the hill. Worry about speed. Keep the three putts away. So, number one is worry about speed because if you worry about speed, you keep three putts away and it keeps good rounds intact and it keeps double bogeies away. Number two is have confidence in your stroke. Don’t worry about it. Go up there. Think about the speed. Believe in yourself. Let the last thing in your mind when you walk up to hit that putt is I’m putting this at the right spot in the hole. Meaning distance-wise. I’m putting this at the right distance. I’m worried about speed because I know my mechanics are going to help me make this putt. So, if you worry about speed and have confidence in your mechanics, you’re going to make a lot of putts. And you want to win a set of these golf balls, comment below and tell me why. Like the video, subscribe to the Bogey Depot Golf Channel, and I’ll pick two winners and send you out a sleeve of these Prov1 left dots. I’m Matt. This is the Bogey Depot. Hit them straight.

  1. Then why have the AVX golf ball , I thought that was the low spin low launch ball Titleist came out with for people with tons of spin ?
Oh well , I play what ever I find around the golf course I work at ……..LOL.
I'll play anything as long as I am on the course playing !!!!! I have shot low scores and high score with about every ball made , as I have been playing for 51 years now and still carry a 7.4 HC.
