NBA legend Kenny Smith tackles the provocative question: “Could Michael Jordan go left?” The Hall of Famer passionately explains why Michael Jordan was not only the greatest athlete but also the most complete basketball player that ever lived, arguing that MJ had no weaknesses when he got to the pros. Smith makes a compelling case for why Jordan’s deep foundation in the fundamentals—developed over three years in college—sets him apart even from all-time greats like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.

Could Michael Jordan go left? Michael Jordan go left. Michael Jordan was the most complete basketball player that’s ever lived. Complete. When he got to the pros, he had no weaknesses. He had no weaknesses. So like his ability to do every aspect of basketball at the highest level. What I always said about Michael, which different between even the great Kobe Bryant and great LeBron James, is he was still the most fundamental basketball player. Like LeBron’s IQ is crazy, but the most fundamental when you watch LeBron, you don’t always say he’s most fundamental. That was Michael. He was the best athlete and the most fundamental because he went to college for 3 years and developed certain things. [Music]

  1. No weakness?! How about not being able to shoot efficiently? Or what about not having the strength to fend off physical defenders? Man this is becoming pathological at this point.

  2. Never played point guard LeBron is the most complete player ever. Especially coming straight out of high school Jordan went to college 3 years and played for top 3 best college coaches all time
