Welcome to the two versus two. We’re going to have two players from each team playing nine holes, alternate shots against another team. I’m Rick Shields. Welcome to Live Golf’s YouTube channel. Be sure to like and subscribe and enjoy this up close personal look at some phenomenal golfers from Live Golf. All right, guys. We’ve got another exciting episode of two versus two here at Live Golf Singapore at this incredible golf course at Sentosa Golf Club. Now the matchup, it’s Smash GC versus Iron Heads. We’ve got Taylor Gu, Jason Kra from Smash GC versus Kevin Nar and Danny Lee. The rules are simple. Nine holes foromes match play. Shake hands and have a good game, gentlemen. Good luck. Break my hand. Yeah, I uh I shook Jason’s hand before and my hand is still throbbing. He’s got a firm handshake. Right. Who’s team off the first? Kevin, you are you getting us going? Yeah. Danny, talk us through this first hole. What we’re looking at? It just got ahead 270 to the middle of the fairway. I’m surprised. Morning time. You like driver? No, no, no. The three would for him, but I don’t know. We got a side bed going. Yeah. If you want to have a side bet, go 5k a person. Yeah. Whatever y’all want. I’ll do a K. All right. Oh, boy. Work right down the metal. Beauty. Let me wipe off that uh the hit there. Perfect. Perfect. Forgiven. Oh, you might have to play it down for the rough. Fine. Fine. Fine. Now, you know what I like about this? It does feel a little bit spicy this match. It feels like there’s I know they’re kind of joking and laughing, but it feels like there’s a bit of tension in the air this morning. I like it. And also, it’s bloody hot. Why? I don’t know if this t-shirt was the right choice. It’s 8:30 in the morning. I’m already starting to sweat through my t-shirt. But anyway, let’s get going. Two versus two, Iron Heads versus Smash. Thanks for doing this, man. Appreciate it. Absolutely. You’ve won round here. I have. Yeah, I like this. That must be a nice feeling. Yeah, absolutely. It was fun. Um actually got paired with Sergio and Brooks in the final round uh whenever I won. And obviously at the time I wasn’t on Brook’s team and so um you know I I was with the Range Goats but um you know Smash have the back-to-back individual winners here. So, I think we like this place. And what what’s what’s the goals this year? Do you do you set goals at the start of the season? Do you just go out there and obviously win as many golf tournaments as you can? Yeah, I’m I’m not a big like um like goal setter from like a we call them outcome goals. Like I don’t I don’t focus on outcome goals. So, I’m not saying I want to go win this or go do this. Like I don’t set those goals because that’s almost out of your control to some. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. And so I’ve I’ve noticed whenever I try to set outcome goals, I get a little bit distracted on the day-to-day stuff. So like I set kind of like weekly goals of like, all right, this week this is the game plan. This is what I want to do. This is how we’re going to go about our stuff. So because you can control that. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. If you go out and you if you did everything perfect and shot 20 under, there’s nothing stopping someone going out shooting 21 under. Yeah. Exactly. It’s like saying, you know what, today I’m going to go shoot 65. Yeah. Uh how often does that happen? Right. Not for me. It’s like you know you plenty of times. Yeah. Well, it’s like often times, you know, I think most of us would agree it’s like the days that we’re shooting like 62 63 those load like you don’t set out to do that. It just kind of happens, right? Yeah. You get on a good run. Yeah. Correct. I love it. And then is there any is there any rivalry here between the Iron Heads? You know, I mean Kevin already wanted to uh you know start uh gambling day one or never had a bet here on the on the two versus two before. Yeah, I like it. So, so you’re playing you’re playing for $1,000,000 bucks USD just full eight barely barely hurt. Yeah. Not really much of anything going now. You said 71 hole. That’s probably up a couple. Is that adjusted? Yeah. Good swing. Come left. That might kick in a little bit. shot. Yeah, good shot. Thank you. Yeah, we’ll give it to him. What did I tell you? Talk us through the hole, Danny. 152 including downhill. I don’t see any wind. No, it seems really quiet. Good. Solid 99, I think. Nice. 152 yards. Is that Yes, sir. Oh, it looks nice. Go. Yeah, nice shot. Shot. Thank you. Good swing. No draw. It’s been left a bit. Okay, my shot. Good one. Very nice. Is that your normal shot? Trying to hit a bit of a draw. Yeah, I’ve always been uh a draw bias player ever since I was even a little kid. It was really pronounced in like college, but then I’ve kind of straightened it out since I’ve been out on tour for quite some time. But yeah, it’s uh normally my go-to shot kind of under pressure. I know that, you know, my miss is going to be left. So like, you know, I know how to hit the the straight ball or sometimes when you mandatory fade, I don’t like to hit that shot cuz I don’t see it. But um yeah, about a about a 5 10 yard draw. Are you a drawer as well? Uh I hit more cuts. I kind of work it both ways, but I’ve definitely worked both ways. It’s pretty impressive. Yeah, I feel more than impressive. I feel like the trend not that many years ago, it felt like a cut and a fade really became quite popular again. Yeah. And it almost feels like draws taken a bit of popularity again a little bit. You see a lot of the players start to hit right to lefts. Yeah. I mean, it just I think it just depends on the shot you you like to hit. Everybody’s got their own ideas and like what they like to hit and the feels. So, I mean, some people are drawn bias, some people are fade. Like, I feel like the idea of like of speed has changed out the last few years, too. It’s like obviously for me and I feel like a lot of guys draws going to go a little bit further, a little bit more speed, right? And so, with everything being so speed focused now, it’s like feel like you got more kids and guys like hitting draws now. Is that something you guys have both worked on? Speed? No, not really. Uh, you already got it. I don’t I don’t I don’t I don’t got it like a lot of guys, but I I don’t want to mess with what I already got. I think I’m at the point where I’m I’ve I’m starting to lose it. Got to go. Thought that was going to be quick. Quick. Yeah, I thought it was going to be quicker than that. No, I didn’t think it was going to get halfway when you first hit it, but it did unbelievably well. Start getting downhill and and down grain, they get quick, especially early in the mornings just being cut. I just saw the roller out on eight as well. They’ll be making them super fast. Oh yeah. Don’t think he’s it. Stay. Stay. Oh, I would have sworn in my life that wasn’t going to get to the hole. That’s good. That’s good. Yeah, that’s what uh Danny, where’s your putter? They start getting slick. I really didn’t think that was going to get there. You’re up. I know. I know. On the clock. I know. I need a breather. Go. Sweat toe. Now they’re playing for money. He’s like, Jason, talk us through this hole. This is uh I think one of the toughest driving holes um out at Sentosa. Um bigger fairway than it looks, but you know, you’re hitting through a gap in the trees and you got to kind of keep it up the right and it’ll kick down to the left. There’s a little bunker on the left hand side. If you can kind of get it near that, you can kind of have a mid iron in as opposed to, you know, a four or five iron off the down. Also kind too far. If you go too far, you get blocked out. You get blocked out by another tree if you hit it too far. So a lot of players will hit three wood off this hole. Oh boy. Little dicey when it’s in. It’s fine. It’s in play. Yeah, it’s in play. Told you it’s hard off the left. Get it down there, but like it’s got to be. Okay. Bit of drama. I think Iron Heads have lost the ball. Smash are just there. Taylor, Taylor and Jason are just there, but we can’t find Kevin’s T-shot. Danny’s gone back to the tea. I actually thought they might have conceded the hole and Danny was like, “Oh, just give it.” And Kevin went, “No, go back to the tea.” So, we did what the boss said. Right then, Jason, how far have you got? We got 190 front. Probably a little bit of a jumper here. Kind of play for I mean the front bunker is not too bad. Just short short left is not too bad to pitch to this flag. It’s just kind of one of those holes that you’re trying to make a four. We were talking about shot shape a minute ago. Yeah, just shot shaping, you know. Yeah, I love hitting fades. So, here we go. We’re going to we’re going to try to hit one. Oh, he’s done it. Maybe a bit too much. Oh, no. It’s very good. It got on, didn’t it? I don’t know. Fell right, didn’t I? Yeah. Very good. That one fell right. You did you get it? And that’s on camera. Yeah. Oh, it looks really nice. Get there. Giddy up. Yeah. Nice hit. Where’d he go? Uh, it’s just short. Very nice work to do though. I think Jason and Smash are in pin high. Kevin’s on the green. Well, Kevin and Danny are on the green for four. It’s looking It’s looking like it might be a win for Smasher to get it back to level through three. You look at that um T- shot. Even three would too much. Yeah. So like it when it’s so this warm like you know it just depends on the bounce but like if you get it up there to the right normally it kicks down far enough to where you really don’t have too much of the tree tree line but go you won the hole with that shot. Yeah. It was all up to me. All set up by the T-ball. Oh there they you don’t even have to putt. They scooped it. gave it to us. Hey, I was going to do the walk in, too. First first birdie. He He didn’t want it. I think he doesn’t want that. He doesn’t want that heat on this hole. He just gave it to us on the first hole and then that’s it. I think he whacked your ball that hard. It’s gone down to the fourth though, is he? Maybe. Maybe. Give us a bit of a description of this hole, Kevin. Um, for these guys, it’s a three-wood off the tea. You got to keep it short of the palm trees. That second shots gets in the way in between the bunkers. It’s a bit of a a tight t-shot, but once you put it out there, you got a green light at the at the green and chance for a three. It’s a gorgeous looking hole. It’s beautiful. Beauty, Jay. Yeah, that boy. Can I borrow your key left? It has the Smash logo on it. Yeah, beauty. Oh, boy. Oh Uhoh. Grass. I think it bounced on grass. I don’t know if it stayed in grass. Talk us through uh what Kevin, you reckon he’s going to do here? You know, Kevin’s got a tough shot here. I think he’s just got probably an eight or nine iron. Going to hit it up over these palms. Uh leave Danny kind of a wedge in there from the right side, which he has done. Exactly. You know, and that’s the that’s the daunting side to this hole is that if you miss the miss the fairway, you’re going to be having to lay it up. Even if you miss the fairway too far, you got to pitch it through the trees. Yeah. You know, and there if once you get down here, it is a little bit more room than it looks from the tea. But, you know, you could hit driver up here, but if you miss it left, you’re in the water, miss it right, you’re you’re blocked out and or out of bounds. Hit it perfect and you’re in trouble. All right, Taylor. Little hybrid. Oh, it’s very good. No idea. It’s a little bit right. It’s It should be right in the middle of the green. Yeah, nice shot. All right, good shot. Very nicely played. Thank you. We just found h obviously Brooks probably hit the 3-wood out here. Well, didn’t he feed it? He fed it through the he Well, I mean, he plays a nice little fade, so this would be right up his alley. Yeah, he hit a shot from here straight through the trees. Threehole birdie run. 15 under par. Yeah, nice. It’s good spot. Well done, Cap. All right. It’s all It’s all cuz why you hate your swing at the moment. You don’t hate it. Surely I mean I’m not happy with my back swing at the moment. Just not feeling perfect. I like to put it on a cruise control and no swing thoughts and just go. But I’ve been thinking too much lately. Don’t do it. [Music] Oh boy. Oh wow. I wasn’t far away. How did that snap across? That wasn’t far away. Right. Gosh. Anything for mine? Excuse my language. He walked. You nearly beat the ball to that. You inspired me. You inspired me. Oh, that was good. Right. Smash go one up. Um, what a match. Apart from the second hole, that’s the only hole that’s been h haveved. was the filthy walking. Right. Talk us through this. Talk us through this fifth hole. Uh this is a good T- ball here. It’s good. Just good hole, right? Um you know those bunkers are deep and um I don’t know what it is to cover, but I don’t got it. So you just got to just got to got to find the fairway here. Go. Good one. Should be left of it. No, little left. Oh, shoot. Caught right on the edge. Perfect. That’s all we need. What’s the number? 150. 150. Yeah. Touch. Should be the right distance. Yeah, it’s pin just a little bit left. Yeah, he has. Oh god, some grip. Run out. God, that had grip. Yeah. Is there is there ever a world where you’d put that? Uh, not likely. Like you you really need I’m a better chipper from that distance than putter. Yeah, that was really nice. Thank you. When you flew it on this top tail, I thought, oh, yeah. Normally, guys, yeah, I just I like that it grabbed. So, I thought it would I thought it was actually a perfect distance. It came up three and a half, four feet. Four feet short. Going to be short. Yeah. Really nice. I didn’t think so either. But uh do you would you consider yourself quite I feel like you’ve got a very competitive edge? I do. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I’m trying hard out here, bro. Yeah. It’s fun. It’s funny. Like it’s fun in games. Like like we’re going to have fun, but then at the same time like I’m trying to trying to get in this, you know? I know. That’s good though. Yeah. Yeah. I’m having fun. Oh, this is a good pot. Good putt. Where’s the jingle? Range. Jingle. That’s Danny’s thing. God dang. I thought gee, good four. That was definitely a five, but wow. Definitely a five. Yeah, there’s a four on the card now. Oh, oh my god. Was that a pause in the back swing? Did he pause it? Oh, did he pause left? We snug one. Oh, flipperoo right there. I felt pressure on Donnie then. I I think he might I think he just might have yipped it. I uh with that with Kevin there, I thought, “Oh my god, this is such a high pressured foot.” And uh pulled it. Classic match play situation. Good put. Very good. Right. Talk us through this whole That is match play at its finest right there. Like you’re out of position. You were You were up. You never looked like a four. No, we look like a four right there. Classic match wave situation, right, Taylor? Talk us through this hole. Uh yeah, this is a great T- ball right here. Obviously, uh when you’re here in water and seeing a bunch of water, you know it’s it’s a good t-ball. But if you get one in, you know, in play here, uh yeah. Yeah. You got a you got a chance to do something. I’ll be all right. That’ll be all right. Probably better than we were on the last hole. Whoops. Got Danny rattled. Make one putt. One putt. We got him rattled. Daddy, you’re paying my thousand. Cover playing long today. Yeah, normally it’s helping. I’ll come out of here. Shot. So Danny’s ball found the water. Kevin had to then hit his three off the tea. So this is Danny’s This is their fourth shot effectively. Um, Taylor and Jason are in the rough in the bunker left. So, not dead easy, but I feel like this has to get up and down from here. Shot. Shot. Shot. Hey there. When you do your practice rounds, do you normally have a regular partner or do you mix it up? Uh yeah, mix it up. Kind of depends. Everything is, you know, dictated on the proam day. So like when like we’re playing the back nine tomorrow or I’m playing the uh back nine or what? I forget now, but whatever nine I play on Thursday, I’ll play the other nine on Wednesday. Right. Okay. And so I’m just thinking even in your four and you smash. Yeah. Do you have little matches? Yeah, we try to each week like yesterday me and uh me and GMC lost uh a match to uh Brooks and Coak. So yeah, we try to each week we try to get together for for a little game, you know, in the middle of the week. Just random partners or do you have Yeah, we we always throw balls up, see who’s with who. What what’s the uh is there is there one is there a pairing that kind of always seems to come out or can it really vary? It it’s you know you throw balls up it’s it’s total totally random but somehow I don’t think me and Brooks have been on a team together. That’s what I mean that like it can happen that can’t it? Yeah. Yeah. You try and make it random yet. Yeah. Correct. It ends up not being random. Do it. Let’s go. Bye. Okay. Let’s go. Yeah. Three up. You’re three up with three to play. Three up, three play. That’s a That’s a good place to be right there. Are you okay? Hey, can I bring the sub in for the last three holes? Make a quick phone call. Oh, sorry. I’m giving you the club. Sorry. Might get kicked out now. I think you might do. I’m sorry. When’s the trade window opening? I’m really sorry. [Laughter] Oh, I’m telling you, I’m not feeling right right now. Come on. Positive mindset. Okay, we got we need a big bounce back here. You need the biggest bounce back ever. Three down, three to five. Playoff. And it’s it’s a chip off as well. Nice. Not even a hole. It’s just a chip off. Hey, you going Can you go for it in two so it makes it at least interesting? I’ll I’ll get aggressive on this drive. Yeah, please get aggressive. Real aggressive. I will. Not that aggressive. Oh, I topped it. Topped it. Topped it right in the middle of the fairway. Danny’s going to go for it from there. Don’t tell me you laid it up in the rough. No, I didn’t. Okay, good shot. Hey, I thought you were going for it. Sling around the trees. I got perfect for your draw. I mean, if you can seed the hole, I’ll give it a try. Yeah, you can. Come on. Oh, yeah. I know I can. This is the smart play, and that’s what D-Rob’s here for. Yeah, that’s it. A beautiful. Stay there. Good shot. We not We’re not tempted to go for that. I mean, I am the I mean, the lie was perfect. I mean, I could have, but like Yeah. Right. Yeah. But like the riskreward I had to like I don’t fade it that well. So, I had to start it out over the water and hit the tomahawk. But I don’t even I mean it probably would have been close. But how far did you have? I I don’t know. My No, I didn’t because my caddy had an eight iron and he’s like, “Hit this and that’s it.” Like there was no other. How far out Tyler? 33. Little little into the breeze. It’s a little breeze. Probably playing like a 39 shot. 38. Good swing. Yep. Yep. Yeah. Looks nice. Nice. Danny Lee, I feel like it’s got to go in, mate. Needs to. What are you seeing? 2% probably. Not going to be short. We’re going to need to see that one. Oh, that looks good. That looks good. Big J finishing style, baby. Very good. Thanks. Good match, fellas. Thanks, guys. Always a pleasure, Kev. Love you, brother. Yeah. Good match, Jeff. Well done. Well done guys. Hey, we don’t do zel. We do Vinmo. All in the VMO. Thank you. Thank you.

  1. There is something about watching good players work their way around a difficult course. Course management, shot selection, and those important things related to scoring, that many often forget.
Like Rick says about his partner: "You were out of position, and it never looked like a 4." How many times does someone say that about you, in your round?
