should be good. Let’s go find it. Welcome back to the channel, guys. Today in this video, I’m going to be teaching you how to hit your wedges, how to hit full shots with your wedges, and then I’m going to give you a couple drills to help you hit those wedges more crisply every time. Let’s get right into this one. Enjoy the video. All right, guys. So, I’ve got my 54 degree, which is my sand wedge. This is going to apply to all your wedges. This is going to be pitching wedge, gap wedge, sand wedge, lob wedge. Ball position is going to be key. You have to have the correct ball position or else you’re setting yourself up for failure. Ball position for a full wedge shot is going to be pretty much in the center of your stance. Depending on what type of shot you want to hit, could be a little bit back of center. When you put it, the farther back you put it, the more it’s going to deloft that club. I have this one slightly back of center, maybe right in the center. Next big thing here is you want to have your hands in front of the golf ball and you want to be having a downward angle of attack. You want to hit down and through the golf ball. Do not try and lift this golf ball because you’re going to blade it. Let the club do the work. You want to hit down on the golf ball and you want that ball to hit right in the center. And then the downward angle of attack is going to make that ball right up the face. And that’s what gives you backspin. All right? You want to hit down on this normal stance, shoulder width apart, ball position in the middle. I have a forward press. It helps me keep that shaft lean at impact. You don’t have to have a forward press. But then you want to be able to shift your weight into this front left leg, your front leg through impact. All right? You don’t want to hang back on this. You want to be able to hit down and you want to be able to hit through the golf ball. So shift that weight onto that front left leg through impact. Let me show you and then I’ll show you in slow motion so you can see my hands in front of the golf ball and my weight shift. And the big thing you want to do here obviously is you want to hit at the ball and your divot should be in front of the golf ball. You can see I had this lined up right where the golf ball is. My divot is right in front of where the golf ball was sitting. Let me give you a couple drills to help you hit more down on the golf ball and another drill to help you keep those hands in front of the golf ball. Okay guys, you can see I’ve got an alignment stick. It’s about a club head behind the golf ball. This drill is to help you have that downward angle of attack and hit down and through the golf ball. Okay? You don’t have to use an alignment stick. If you’re worried about hitting the alignment stick, you can use a towel. Same kind of deal. Lay a towel down like this. You don’t have to keep the alignment stick there. I’m just leaving it there for now. And then try to avoid the towel. Okay. Biggest thing here. Avoid the towel. Hit down on the ball. Keep those hands in front of the ball like so. All right, here’s that drill with the alignment stick. You can see about a club head behind the golf ball. Ball position in the center of my stance. Avoid the alignment stick. Let me give you a drill to help you keep those hands in front of the golf ball through impact. This is a drill that will help you keep your hands in front of the golf ball. All you need is an alignment stick. Put that alignment stick even with your grip. And then take your normal grip with that alignment stick in your grip. Put that alignment stick on the left side of your torso. As you can see, I can’t get my hands in front of this golf ball because the alignment stick is hitting my torso. Now, I would not recommend hitting full shots because you’re not going to be able to really follow through. But get you an alignment stick, line it up on your grip like so. Keep those hands in front of the golf ball. And then I want you to hit some just little punch shots or little chips. And feel that sensation of having your hands in front of the golf ball through impact. Very, very simple drill. Just hit some little chip shots and have that sensation of your hands in front of the golf ball through impact. As you can see, just helps me keep my hand. If you try to get your hands behind the golf ball, you’re going to hit that torso with the alignment stick. Give those drills a shot. See if it can’t help you hit those wedges more crisply.
