Here’s Brody Brazil. Okay, time for something a little bit different here on the YouTube channel. I am about to run you through what I think are the best names of minor league baseball, like team names. But not only that, I’ll rank the top 20. I’ll also explain to you how every team got its unique and individual name. Let me start off by saying that great minor league team names, this is somewhat unique to baseball. You don’t see a lot of basketball teams like in the G-League. And certainly football doesn’t have a minor leagues. It’s more college teams. In hockey, there are some fun minor league team names, but baseball has really cornered the market on fun and unique and entertaining minor league professional team names. It’s almost expected at this point, like if you have a boring minor league team name, it’s only a matter of time, it feels like, until that team gets rebranded into something more fun, something that grabs attention, something that sells merchandise. Let’s be honest, they’re doing this, naming these teams this way for those purposes. In an era of oneupsmanship and creativity and design and execution, it has been fun to see something unique kind of get get topped by something else. and all of a sudden the name names and color schemes and uh themes and logos, they’re getting more unique and more like honestly entertaining along the way. So, I enjoy the branding. I enjoy the merch. I enjoy the fun nature of this. Let’s not have it be so serious. Let’s have a little bit of fun with minor league baseball. And let’s name these teams something that you’ll remember, that your kids will laugh at, something that is just like really fun to say. All right, let’s begin with number 20 here on what is again my countdown. The Lancing Lug Nuts of Lancing, Michigan. They are the single Affiliate of the Athletics. They were launched in 1996. So, the Lug Nuts name, although, you know, this is a newer trend to to give these teams flashier names. They’ve been around since 1996. This was a nod to Michigan’s automotive heritage, symbolizing strength and durability. Go nuts is a popular cry at the ballpark. Let’s go nuts. Lancing lug nuts. By the way, why is that that lug nut? What What’s the facial expression there? He’s got he’s got one tooth. He’s got kind of the sad eyes and sad face. Is he scared about getting twisted in? It’s just He’s not confident. He’s not strong. He’s not happy. That’s a scared lug nut for some reason. Anyway, the Lancing lug nuts checking in at number 20. At number 19, the Cedar Rapid Colonels. Cedar Cedar Rapids, excuse me, kernels. Adopted in 1993, meant to reference military kernels, but it’s a tie to Iowa’s leadership in corn production. This team replaced the Cedar Rapids Reds. So, again, a franchise that had a more traditional, more conventional name of the Reds, and now all of a sudden, hey, Colonels makes a lot more sense. But here’s a team that changed their name in 1993. So although there are more modern versions of fun names of teams, this was one of the early adopters. Again, the I I keep looking at the the faces of these logos. Is is it sunny out? Is there a lot of squinting going on there? Is kind of a angry face? I’m not exactly sure what that what that that kernel is. I do like the fact that it’s it’s actually a bat. It’s not a piece of corn. It’s a piece of corn that is about to get shucked uh there, but it’s a bat. Looks like corn wearing a hat. Cedar Rapids Colonels. I like it. At number 18, the El Paso Chihuahua. This team was launched, I remember, feels like just yesterday. And people thought this was a crazy off-the-wall name. Launched in 2014 after the team moved from Tucson to El Paso. There was a fan contest to help choose the name. It represents the Chihuahuan Desert and obviously the small but very tough breed of dog. I remember at first this name people were like, “Is that really serious? Is this going to catch on? Is this going to last?” But it is the AAA affiliate of the San Diego Padres’s and that name is now more than a decade old now. I like the face here. If we’re going if we’re talking more about faces, I like that look. I mean, he’s cute, but he looks like he means business. Or or she. Uh the dog looks like it means business. has the collar on there, the the spiked collar. So, this this Chihuahua has some some fire in it. And I think, you know, if you’re talking about like that on a hat, I mean, gosh, you don’t even need the full body logo. You could just kind of have the the angry dog head, you know, again, cute but fiery. I think it’s a it’s a fun representation. Who wouldn’t want to have that on their hat? At number 17, the Fort Wayne tin caps. This is actually a tribute to Johnny Apples Seed. The Tin Caps play in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Uh for the It’s a tribute to Johnny Apples Seed, who was the Midwestern legend for planting apple trees and wearing a tin cooking pot as a hat. The tin caps. That’s fun, right? Tin caps. It It doesn’t immediately have all the ties like unless you explain it. I like the logo, the apple with the tin cap on it. It’s got the little little leaf there, too. Um, the font is kind of cool like that. I think that actually matters as part of the word mark here. I I don’t know. Do Do you feel like you want to wear a bunch of tin caps stuff? It’s more fun to say and talk about than I think a catchy uh logo or branding to actually represent. But this is the high affiliate of the San Diego Padres’s out in Fort Wayne, Indiana. At number 16, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. They’re from Pensacola, Florida. Obviously, they’re the DA affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They’re named after the sleek, colorful fish found in the Gulf of Mexico. This team launched back in 2012 with a waterfront ballpark, which I kid you not was once able to be rented on Airbnb. And I I want to say that was around 2020 when baseball shut down during the pandemic. And I think the the team was looking for ways to create revenue, but also to put their ballpark to use. And they were like, “Hey, um, if you want to rent the ballpark, you can have your own game here. You can use the clubouses. You can use the whole facility. We’ll even play some music for you and introduce the batters.” They did that. They once rented their ballpark on Airbnb. But the the Blue Wahoos, I got to say, like, and first off, like, do you really want your logo to be getting caught right there? Do you really want the hook to be in the You know what I’m saying? Like if you really look at this, do you really want to be the blue wahoo who just is is getting pulled out of the water on a fishing line? Probably not. But I do like the colors. I do like the font here. I don’t know. It just it it it’s got something cool about it. Like you put that on a shirt, you put that on a jacket, you put that on a hat, and you represent the Pensacola area if that’s where you’re from. That’s pretty cool. At number 15, the Quad Cities River Bandits. Now, this team’s ballpark is right along the Mississippi River in Davenport, Iowa. And it’s very uh prone to flooding. And so, this name was chosen in 2008, kind of reflecting obviously proximity to the river, but also the frontier and outlaw history of the region. I apparently Davenport, Iowa, has got a bunch of outlaws. They’ve got a bunch of river bandits. That’s a pretty cool logo, right? It’s that’s a raccoon, right? with the the scarf over its face, kind of like a bandit wearing the bandit style hat, taking a swing, taking a good right-handed swing there. So, yeah, like that one works. It’s slick. Quad Cities, River Bandits. It’s hard to fit in four names sometimes, right? To Quad Cities, River Bandits versus like a three name team if it’s one, two, three in the team name. Four. Fitting four words in there is kind of tough, but it works. The Quad City’s River Bandits are the single Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. On to number 14. A little closer to home here in California. I would say they’re not necessarily in Northern California. They’re in the central valley, but they’re in the northern portion of California. It’s the Modesto Nuts, who, by the way, are going to cease to exist after this baseball season, 2025. It’s unfortunate. the company that owns the Nuts along with a bunch of other minor league teams. They’re restructuring. They’re just moving the Nuts out of Modesto, a place they’ve been for, I want to say about 60 70 years. They’ve been in in Modesto a very long time playing professional baseball. They’ve been the affiliate of a bunch of different teams. Seven or eight, I want to say, different major league teams and the company’s just moving them away. Couldn’t get the new ballpark with the fixes. And I don’t know the controversy there. We’ve we’ve covered it here on videos before. I just want to say very sad that the Modesto nuts are going away. And I’ll probably cover more of this as the baseball season ultimately wraps up. But the nuts have been located in the Central Valley, which is known for its almond, walnut, and pistachio production. Oo, love all three of those, by the way. They were rebranded in 2005 from simply being the Modesto A’s. That was their affiliate back then. And uh they decided to call themselves the Modesto Nuts. It’s just, and again, I don’t want to I want to have fun here, but I also want to point out it’s kind of sad that they’re going away. They’re currently the single Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, it just it just kind of like, and I don’t mean to be childish here, but when you see nuts on the screen, it’s uh it is what it is. It’s almost like, wait, they they really allowed this to happen. And still, like this team has been called this since 2005. It still kind of brings a feeling of like, what? When you hear about the Modesto Nuts, long live the Modesto Nuts. At number 13, the Richmond Flying Squirrels. They are the doubleA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, playing out in Richmond, Virginia. This team was renamed via a fan vote after they moved from Connecticut to Richmond, Virginia. I want to say they were like the Connecticut Defenders or something. And and Flying Squirrels like that just literally jumps off the page, right? It jumps off the screen. And it doesn’t have any tie to the region. And you’re noticing that a lot of these teams have geographic connections with their names and what the area is known for. No, no tie in here. There’s not, I don’t think, flying squirrels in Richmond, especially or ever. It’s just something they thought was dynamic and fast and a familyfriendly moniker. And that’s also a thing here. I I do want to say as as the father of a child now, a younger child, like you can see why all of this stuff matters. If you want to go to the Defenders game or do you want to go to the Flying Squirrels game? What do you think your child’s going to say? Right? Which one is going to be the easier cell for them? At number 12, who doesn’t like a biscuit? The Montgomery Biscuits of Montgomery, Alabama. They’re the doubleA affiliate of the Rays. Introduced in 2004 when the Rays moved. Uh they they were in Orlando, right? From Orlando to Montgomery. And this was this name was chosen by fans in a contest. It was once mocked, right? The Biscuits. You’re going to call yourself the Biscuits back in 2004 and now it’s a most recognizable minor league baseball brand. Something about Is that a tongue? Does that Maybe I should be doing this in a different color here. Should I try red? Does that uh mascot is that is that a butter tongue or is that is that two pancakes with butter in between? I think I think it’s a double meaning there. Like you can see it however you want to see it. But the the googly eyes is kind of cool. The fact that that uh that pancake is hiding behind the M. I just, you know what the problem with this this logo? It makes me hungry. Like, stare at this long enough and you’re going to be craving some breakfast. And the other part about this, right, is say you’re announcing a team’s game. Well, time for the biscuits to get their at bats. Like, it just it’s fun to throw in these unique names and only in minor league baseball, right? You you really don’t get this anywhere else on a consistent basis. Or how about this? Now batting for the Fort Meyers. Wait, now batting for the Fort Myers Mighty Muscles. It’s my try out by the way for PA announcing. I’ll put them at number 11. In 2020, this team was rebranded from just being called the miracle, the Fort Meyers miracle. Uh the Mighty Muscles helps represent the seafood culture of the area. It’s got some strength and coastal identity. And the mascots they have two of them are muscles man and Shelly get it like Shelly like sea shell se she sells seashells by the seashore whatever the fort I like the logo I don’t I don’t know exactly what’s going on there it’s it’s it’s a lot of muscles in a clamshell I get that I I like this this text here it feels like um feels like an 80s cartoon I like it right like they’re not supposed to feel like the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees or the Los Angeles Dodgers. Think about those names, those prestigious major league names. And then the Fort Myers Mighty Muscles. Double meaning. I love it. This is the single Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. And yeah, Muscles man and Shelly. Very cool. Uh good color scheme, everything about it. Uh it’s a solid number 11 for me here on the countdown. At number 10, the Buxy Shuckers. This team and their name was chosen in 2015 when the stars relocated. So another theme here that you’re seeing regular old team like the Miracle and the Stars being changed to the Buxy Shuckers of Buxy, Mississippi. They’re the double Affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. When they relocated, they changed the name, which now refers to the industry of seafood of the area, but also shucking oysters, right? Like extracting the insides of the oysters. That That’s kind of creepy there. Those oyster pearls are are eyeballs. In fact, it’s just kind of looking right at you. I do like the the type face there. Uh like the the word mark is part of the logo. Um you know, who thought you could you could make you could make a baseball team name out of out of the clamshell like that. All right, we’re inside the top 10 at number nine, the Bingmpington Rumble Ponies. I mean, say that five times and tell me you’re not smiling by the end of it. The Bingmpington Rumble Ponies. What is a rumble pony, by the way? Well, it’s a it’s a it’s a fun horse that’s wearing boxing gloves right there. Uh, but a rumble pony actually has nothing to do Oh, no. I I see an I see an error on the screen. Hang on, let me let me fix this. Did you see what happened there? There was a little extra character right in there that I that I took out. Anyway, a rumble pony is actually slang for a carousel horse. Like, it’s a horse on a merrygoround that you would jump on. Bingmpington is known as the carousel capital of the world. Like, who would have known about that with six vintage carousels? Bingmpington, New York, doubleA affiliate of the New York Metropolitan. So, it’s close in proximity to the big league club, but that is a Rumble Pony. And that kind of looks like the the bar, right, that the horse sits on while it goes up and down on the on the merrygoround. So just when you thought, oh, a rumble pony is a horse that that fights that can stand on two legs that has the the championship belt there. It really has nothing to do with fighting. They’ve kind of taken that that modification of it. But Bingmpington is the carousel capital of the world. So it’s like educational this name. It’s got layers upon layers. It’s a fun name. Rumble ponies. Where have you ever heard that before? You probably haven’t. And it means a lot to the region. It’s significant to the history. Here’s another very fun one to say. Like we’re now we’re in the top 10. These are all very good ones. It is the Hartford Yard Goats. And once again, another name where you’re thinking, well, Yard goat, who would who would name their team after like a goat that just is sitting there eating weeds all day? This is railard slang, like train track slang. A yard goat is a small locomotive used to shunt, used to move train cars around a railard. It’s a nod to Hartford’s long history as a railroad hub. Once again, animal with the bat in its mouth. I like that logo. It’s cool. Like that. That also I mean I don’t know if you think goats are cute, but that that looks like a cute little goat. That That’s a fun logo right there. Kind of smiling. kind of got the the the goatee. Literally the goatee. This is the double Affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, by the way. But fun name, ties into the region, yard goats. Explain that one to me. Right. Like half of this is it’s fun to say, the other half is sometimes the explanation. At number seven, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. This team was launched in 2008. And pig iron is the raw form of iron which is used in blast furnaces. And the state of Pennsylvania obviously has a huge role in the iron and steel industry like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Have you ever heard of them? Uh this is a top merch seller of minor league baseball. Not the top but one of them. And it’s look it’s it’s simple. This is a more of a traditional logo but it’s you know it’s got the mean pig face. It’s got the steel little rivets in there. I think that’s very cool. So traditional but unique but strong and for a team in Allentown, Pennsylvania that’s the AAA affiliate of the Phillies like that really works. Simple but strong and probably going to last a very long time. At number six, the Akran Rubber Ducks. Akran, Ohio is home to the DA affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Akran is home to Goodyear and Firestone and is kind of known as the rubber capital of the world. They make a lot of rubber in Akran, Ohio. And yeah, Goodyear and Firestone, they’re probably on a lot of cars that you’ve seen or driven or been around. This also kind of reflects the blue collar roots and appeals to the youthful audience to have a rubber duck. But that is like there’s two things there. There’s the tire marks, but also like that’s an angry duck face right there. The font that kind of splashes across the middle a little cartoonish, but I get it. Like they could have gone the traditional and I I can’t even draw it here. Like they could have gone the, you know, the rubber duck route and draw a little draw a little water that it’s sitting in. They could have done something like that and made it cheesy and cartoony. But no, they they wanted to make it a little bit angry. They wanted to make it kind of fierce. The Akran rubber ducks. The Akran rubber ducks. Okay, I’m probably done with that, but it’s fun, right? The Akran rubber ducks at number six. At number five, the Amarillo Sahad Poodles. This is uh the nickname for a prairie dog, which is native to Texas’s panhandle and Amarillo. This team was rebranded in 2019 via a fan vote. It’s the DA affiliate of the San Diego Padres’s. There was some skepticism at first and of course a sod poodle. Like, now the logo is also very cool. This looks way too official. You know, the little prairie dogs. This one’s This one’s tipping the cap. That is so cool. It’s like a family of of prairie dogs there. Um, and so people ran with it. You know, once in a while you got to kind of go out to the ledge and just see what’s out there and try it out and see if people feel comfortable. And that’s kind of the thing about minor league teams. If they try this and it doesn’t work, just rebrand it in three more years. Eventually, you’re going to find one that sticks. You want to do the right research. You want to do the have the right intentions. And in this case, they did and it stuck. The Sod Poodles. This is also a great one. At number four, the Sugarland Space Cowboys from Sugarland, Texas. They’re the AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros. I got to say, of all the logos in minor league baseball, this one right here, I I love it. the cartoonish nature of of the astronaut with the cowboy hat kind of in the circle with the stars like the colors like this that that that baby blue that teal blue that kind of pops out at you on the dark blue and the the orange really really well done affiliate of the Houston Astros. Uh, the Astros bought this team in 2022 and then changed the name to represent all the NASA ties with the Johnson Space Center and the cowboy heritage obviously of Texas and the flare of the region. I I just think like Space Cowboys, Sugarland Space Cowboys, like Sugarland is already enough of a unique name. They could have gone with something boring, but Space Cowboys, another fourname team, right? Sugarland Space Cowboys. It’s kind of hard to to do that to make it all fit, but it works. It really does. Great name, great branding, great image, great logo. Who Who wouldn’t want a hat with that on it? This is a fun one at number three. There was a 2001 episode of The Simpsons where Homer Simpson, he protests the team’s move, the isotopes move from Springfield. Man, the Simpsons really were ahead of their time. Who knew 20 years later you’d have all these ba baseball teams threatening to move and the isotopes were being talked about moving from Springfield, Illinois to uh Albuquerque. Well, I don’t know in real life they’re they moved to Albuquerque, but in 2003, so this is 2 years after the episode aired. Uh it was a fan a fan vote that chose this team name in in 2003, and it’s become one of Minor League Baseball’s bestselling identities. It’s because in the Simpsons, the team was called the Isotopes. And I I believe their logo and their their font of their name was kind of like that if I recall correctly from the show. And so minor league baseball was like, “Well, why don’t we make this in real life?” Again, this was very early on in the trend of having fun minor league team names. There’ve always been some unique ones, but you know, 2001, 2003 is a pretty early adopter of a great minor league team name. the Albuquerque Isotopes. So, not a fourname situation, just a two. Albuquerque Isotopes. It works. It’s unique. It sticks. Literally sticks. At number two, a very long-standing unique name of minor league baseball. And I don’t know that the Mud Hens are the most original in a sense of of creativity, but the Mudhens are original in a sense of when this name actually came along. This name dates back to 1896 with the original ballpark built next to Marshlands in Toledo, Ohio. And so fans and reporters, I don’t know what the team was actually called, but they just started calling the team the Mudhens because of like mud hens that were actually right next door to the ballpark. And the name, just like the Mud, it stuck. The Toledo Mudhens are one of the original fun names of professional and minor league baseball. Again, going back to 1896, they’re the AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. And with that, let me pause right here. Uh, we’re 19 down and one to go. Do you have any predictions? Maybe you’ve already checked out the the thumbnail or the the timeline. Maybe you have an idea of what this is going to be at number one, uh, or the bookmarks of this video, but number one, I will tell you right now, the Rocket City Trash Pandas. Everything is immaculate here. Is flawless here. The logo, uh, a very angry trash panda riding that rocket with the keypad on it. Um, so let’s explain this. Rocket City is Huntsville, Alabama, which is a hub for NASA and space exploration. And the trash panda is slang for a raccoon. Like, it’s a panda looking animal that goes in trash cans, right? It’s like the elegance of a panda, but it’s a trash panda. That’s what a raccoon is. This name was chosen by fans in 2018. That’s when it debuted and went viral, excuse me, debuted and went viral in 2020. It’s the double Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The Trash Pandas, right? Like that. That one is fun to say and it’s also unique to say. Could you imagine like here are your Rocket City Trash Pandas? It it counters everything you would know about a team’s name. It just it goes against the grain. It is so unique. It is so fun. And I think this has to be number one. It’s my favorite branding, logo, everything. It just it brings a smile. The Trash Pandas. How could you take a season of Trash Pandas baseball seriously when that’s their name? But we do. So, comment below right now. Which one of these is your favorite? Did I get them right? Was I close in order? Did I miss a great one? And that’s the other thing about this list. I should have said this at the beginning of the video. I know I’m going to miss a few. There are so many minor league teams at so many levels. I’m sure that at some point I missed one of them. So, let me know in the comments down below. And also, let me know this. Should other sports have better minor league team names? Should they not ever mimic the major league team’s name? It, you know, it doesn’t have to be the the same name, different city. That’s not really fun. Make it unique. Give it its own identif uh identity and try and have some of the best names of minor league baseball, but also minor league sports. All right, let me know all that in the comments section below. Also, thumbs up. While you’re down there, don’t forget to hit subscribe here on the channel. I would love to see you back here next time.

3:34 Considering EP had a double A team before this (El Paso Diablos), I have to wonder if the return of the Diablo was even remotely considered.
21:00 Brodie you forgot to mention how Albuquerque and New Mexico have a regional root in the nuclear industry. Albuquerque is home to the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. Isotopes works on so many levels!
I just wanted to point out that in the logo for the Blue Wahoos, the line is quite noticeably broken, which implies they aren't/can't be caught
Great video. Many years ago, some of my buddies would combine a golf day and a visit to a Midwest team game in the evening. This brought back many good memories, thanks.
You should do a future video on college summer league teams or minor league hockey.
Florence Y'all's has to up there too
Where are the Eugene Exploding Whales? Great name, great backstory.
I think you could have looked at some of the independent leagues. There are a few outstanding team names there, including the Joliet Slammers.
I grew up going to the Buffalo Bisons, in the AAA International League. “Buffalo” and “bison” are either same species, or closely related.😊
Love the video. Alternative name for the Lookouts Chattanooga Wreckers highlights that Chattanooga was the place the tow truck was invented. My hometown of Macon GA had some great names. Independent baseball's Macon Bacon. Minor League Hockey is also a great place to get some names. Currently the Macon Mayhem, but once we're called the Macon Whoopee. ❤️
Re: rocket city Trash Pandas. The recently established military branch, Space Force, recently announced their relocation from Colorado Springs to Huntsville.
Love the "fish," also known as the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
I am a HUGE fan of Minor League Baseball! I have a few teams from various MLB orginizations that I pull for.
These are the top teams that I pull for, (no matter who their current parent club is: )
1.Buffalo Bisons — Buffalo, NY (Current affiliation) AAA pf Cleveland Gauardians)
2.Lake County Captains — East Lake, OH (Current affiliation) High A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians)
3.Gwinnett Stripers — Lawrenceville, GA (Current Affiliation) AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves
4.Augusta Green Jackets — Augusta, GA (Current Affiliation) Low A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves
Connecticut Defenders were a rebrand of the original Norwich Navigators, with the name being a nod to the maritime history of the region. 20-30 minutes away from the stadium is a naval sub base, submarine manufacturing, and Mystic Seaport, an 1800s seaport/whaling museum. Their logo was a aligator as a ship captain using a baseball bat as a looking glass.
One more note on the Yard Goats, the letter script is the same script used by the New Haven Railroad, as another reailroad reference.
Interesting bit of trivia: The Cedar Rapids Kernel's mascot is an ear of corn named, Shucks. Yeah, corny.
Why didn't you talk about Peoria Chiefs that's in Peoria,Illinois?Been too so many games that were great
MACON (GEORGIA) WHOOPIE….
BEST HOCKEY TEAM NAME
Whooping Cranes
4 of those are in the Southern League and 3 of the 4 are in the same division!
The Down East Wood Ducks were stellar, until Texas pulled the plug and moved them.
Hey Brodie, I enjoy watching your videos all the time and I am a huge fan of minor league baseball. My hometown team is the Durham Bulls in North Carolina, which I'm surprised you didn't mention on this list. There is an interesting backstory to this, as Durham was once a major hub of tobacco production. One of the best know brands back in the late 19th century was Bull Durham, inspired by (of all things) a container of Colman's Mustard, which had the image of a bull's head and originated from Durham, England. The Bull Durham brand was so popular that at one point an advertisement for the tobacco brand was placed at Yankee Stadium near where the pitchers warmed up, thus the term bullpen was born. The team name itself inspired the movie "Bull Durham" starring Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon (probably the best baseball movie IMHO). And the ballpark where the Bulls play is located next to the American Tobacco Historic District, which once served as the main factory for American Tobacco Company (Lucky Strike) and W.T. Blackwell & Co. (Bull Durham tobacco). Okay, this is quite a bit to digest, and I may have missed something along the way, but hopefully that should cover it.
I like the Milwaukee Milkmen in the Amer. Assoc. (independent) because their cow mascot is named Bo Vine. 😊
Good list and rankings.
Nothing against the Sugarland Space Cowboys but I really miss the Sugarland Skeeters.
great video! how about Tulsa Drillers and Oklahoma City Comets!
After the Denver Zephyrs moved to New Orleans, they kept the name a few years before changing to the New Orleans Baby Cakes
Pensacola resident now. Grew up in San Jose. We love the wahoos. Glad to see AA southern league for 4 teams in your list.
I’ve always liked the bowling green hot rods that’s where they make corvettes.
Do retired team names San Francisco had the mission reds as well as deals.
Also look at independent leagues. The new Indy league on the west coast has the Dublin Leprechauns.
20:21 A detail you missed, I assume the star in the mask represents Texas being the Lone Star State. As a Fresno area native, I know the Grizzlies isn’t a very unique name but their temporary time as the Fresno Tacos would be a great mention.
The Wahoo is breaking away He’s broke the line
& I like Tin Hats I want to order their hat now
Great choice of episode. I love it

The Sioux Falls Canaries, in South Dakota. They temporarily changed their name to the Fightin' Pheasants, but they changed it back. Their stadium is called "The Birdcage"
I know it's college baseball, but the Long Beach State Dirtbags. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
El Paso Chihuahuas should be #1. Besides the dog, the Chihuahuan desert, there is the province of Chihuahua across the Rio Grande.
I have a few minor league merchandise items and love the different and interesting names.
I live no where close to Rocket City and was impressed when my son and wife locally purchased a Trash Pandas hat for me for Fathers Day!
Big whiff missing the Lakeland Flying Tigers
Fun video, Brody! My son’s little league team was the Yardgoats last season and it led me down a rabbit hole of researching minor league team names. Baseball is the best.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers!!!
Great Lakes Loons (Midland MI) Dodgers High A affiliate Montgomery should be selling biscuits and southern gravy in concessions LOL
Paused at the 0:20 mark to allow myself to name my favorite, then see if/where it actually ranks: the Albuquerque Isotopes. As a lapsed Simpsons fan, this may never lose its spot.
EDIT: 21:04 yayayayayay
I like Trash Pandas, Rocket City not so much. Generally don't like teams using a nickname for the city in place of the city name, same with Hub City (who uses the city name as a nickname) and Capital City for Columbia years ago now. Also I liked Skeeters (slang for mosquito) a lot better than "Space Cowboys".
Jamestown (NY) Tarp Skunks!!! Can’t believe this isn’t on the list.
Honestly, I love the list! I am surprised you have Akron on there and as high as you do, it is a name that has grown on me over the years. As a kid, I grew up with them being the Akron Aeros, but I have learned to appreciate Runner Ducks.
I do have one honorable mention, I say honorable mention because they are of the Atlantic League which is a MLB Partner League (non affiliate) that team is the Charleston (WV) Dirty Birds. The mascot is of a Canary dressed like a coal miner with the helmet with light and coveralls. The mascot symbolizes the regions coal mining heritage and how they used to send canaries into the mines to detect poisonous gases.
