Rory McIlroy | Round 1 Highlights | 2025 BMW PGA Championship
[Applause] Breeze just keeping it on the left edge. Yeah. Oh, that’s going to be right down the bottom of the hill. [Applause] off a little down slope. So that’ll naturally flatten the flight out. Last week he was sensational at this this shot. Go on, spin, baby. Right now, not too much. Too much. Yeah, you get soft greens and spin becomes a bad thing. Um, it’s difficult to control the rate of it. And he thought he’d hit a cracker there, but now he’s he could chip that, probably putt it. Yes, he’s staring at that one in disbelief. He does special things, doesn’t he? Rory Mroy. And what a way to start a birdie. A chip in birdie at the first. Mroy off and running. Right now it’s out of the right hand side. 156. This is just a poke. Just a poke with an iron. Trying to take the spin out of it. Yeah. Tough to get it all the way back there, particularly with that wind. Almost see a little trail of dew there, couldn’t you? And there’s just a bit of skim of moisture on the green. Left the driver and it’s the correct play. So, we can turn it from right to left. Not a breath of breeze out here now. We’re going to see a lot of birdies from everyone, not just this group. Should be perfect down that left wing there as I meant to carry it. There you go. There used to be an old tree. Do you remember, Ken? It looked like a man standing on top of it, didn’t it? Yeah. Cowboy hat we used to call it. Yeah. I think it’s overgrown over the years now. But I I I think the the TV hoist way down in the distance now uh is the line. If we get a camera angle from behind again, you’ll see it. That is the line for the players. You got to hug the trees down the left more than you actually think. So this will come down like a sack of spuds. It is set down perfectly uphill top from there. Little ridge to come up. Two quality struck shots to open his afternoon after the break. We’re getting two under through the first four holes. Ry M. He can access all flags with the height that he hits it. Yeah. The body language always suggested that was a little right of target, didn’t it? [Music] Skiing off a little down slope. Need to carry a fraction further up. Maybe a higher flight on it. very efficient in terms of his routine. That’s a rare miss from him. I can’t remember at all last week him missing anything short. Disappointing bogey there in the par three for him after a very very good start. It’s very much been a feature of his the success he’s had over the c the last last couple of seasons. His his putting from that four 5ft range has drastically improved but that is a bogey for Maroy back to one under a lot of talk about his putting on a PG or sorry his driving and of course he’s a wonderful driver of the ball but actually his putting now is nearly ranked as good as his driving pretty easy shot right now. Cheeky little bounce there. Very nice indeed. He didn’t like it at any stage, but he will now. He somehow knew that was going to happen when that ball just turned away from the fringe on the left hand side and instead of an awkward pitch, it was about successfully rattled into the back of the cup by Mighty. Tried to hit a draws, hit a hook. There’s some nasty stuff up there. He’s just in the lap of the gods now. He could get himself alive, but looked like it dug in. Didn’t come out. Will he get the release? Just didn’t come out about as good. You could have got a six iron on that, but it’s gnarly stuff. It wraps around the huzzle. Nasty. Yeah, that’s pretty good. Really difficult shot. Left himself the uphill punt. Very important as you say, Dom, going into the power five now and give him a spring and a step. He did that last week. He hold a really good putt on the 12th hole in the last round for a par from 220 yards at 12. Wrapped it over. There is out of bounds left. I don’t think he’s that far left. Oh my word. Well, that’s a good break cuz if that lands on anything, I know it’s not hard over there on the left, but that’ll be a good break. All told, this will come in lowish and then tiptoe its way over the hill and then run down there. from left to right. All release. It’s okay, isn’t it? You probably like it about half as far again. Don’t mess with the king of rock and roll. Heater’s on fire. His cause are all right. Thick grips are usually an anti- left thing. Do believe that’s gone into an old divot mark there, but it won’t be a problem. Preferred lines over the course of the first round. And he’s been exceptional, especially last week, just taking the spin out of it. Just a little sore off punch, getting to come in there low and getting it its heels to dig in. Slightly higher flight on that one. I think he’s anticipating a little bit more backspin. Superb. Absolutely brilliant. I mean, I was just going to say, you notice that he doesn’t really get down on his hunches. He’s not trying to read every single blade of grass all the way to the hole. He’s just visualizing it, just feeling the pace. And aim it down the right and just hit a soft draw over the trees. That should be fine. I love how he continues to stand up there and hit the the draw, his his favorite shot rather than try to hit the shot that the hole dictates because, you know, it it’s not his comfortable shot. And as a result of that, because he’s chosen the right option there, he doesn’t put excessive pressure on himself and makes a good swing. [Music] almost directly straight up the little ridge he’s got to contend with. Dug in a little, didn’t it? He was expecting a little bit more release out there. soft greens. We’re catching an indentation as well. 7:30 is just gone there and it’s darn cold, practically dark and there’s still shed loads with eyes on Rory. It is a six finish of such a good T-shot. It really couldn’t have walked down there and placed that any better. But anything turned right to left just follows the water. And even if it hits the green, it’s more than likely to be wet. The Race to Dubai is back and this week marks the return of the Rolex Series at the BMW PGA Championship, with an impressive international line-up made up of Major champions and upcoming Ryder Cup players. All seven players to have won the BMW PGA championship during the Rolex Series era are in action this week, including Shane Lowry, Ryan Fox, Francesco Molinari, Tyrrell Hatton, Danny Willet, Alex Noren, and Billy Horschel, who is back at Wentworth despite having hip surgery earlier this year. Horschel will be aiming to defend his title after last year in which he came out on top against Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence in a dramatic final round and play-off. BMW PGA Championship debutant, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is one of the players to watch, with a course that could work in his favour, however with a career grand slam in his pocket, could McIlroy take it one step further this year and take the title?
Welcome to the Official YouTube channel of the DP World Tour. Every week you can find extended tournament highlights and individual player highlights from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood. This is also the home of the 14 Club Challenge, Little Interviews, Fastest Hole and many more challenges, pranks and world record attempts featuring the biggest golfers in the world.

Okay im sorry I rly love rory but Ludvig just shot -8 how is he not the highlighted one
Post Åberg highlights already😍
brilliant editing. taking the time to transition the audio between clips is appreciated.
Stop posting Rory only highlights you absolute prats
It must be amazing to have a bad day on the golf course, fighting a hook, and to walk off Wentworth 3 under.
T33 after round 1 so nothing to shout about. The love the tour has for him is ridiculous
Poor finish for last two holes but playing Ok and if in 3 to 4 shots after Saturday you never know with Rory that's why we love him.!!!!
Some utter bellends in the crowd today it seems…
Love listening to Ken Brown again. I’ve been in the states since 2007 and miss the commentary by Ken and Peter (RIP).
how about the best of Åberg's opening round, he played real good
Can we have a real European Tour hilights and not an english/Irish hilights like as often from your media???!!! Is it possible to see True European players on this media and not only english men or Irish men?????!!!
Remember the days when we were praising the European tour for their highlights? These days it’s just Rory rounds. Shame for the other 137 players. And I say this as a Rory fan
Could we please have Round Highlights not just an individual player.
I love the way Rory plays his golf, he's just getting better and better. Shame about the bad temper at times.
Sometimes it’s hard to watch him man.. I want Rory to be so much more successful but it’s like Jack said. Hes too good to choke this much.
Stop just showing Rory!!!
An average golfer, there are way more better players than this chump.
I agree with the other comments, Ludvig shot a far better score and hardly got a mention.
Any idea what was said at 3:11 that got Rory’s attention?
Well said. I thought the highlight package would be better with more coverage of other players? Do love The Rors though.
Masters champion right there 😂
Why is Rahm there? Is he allowed to play dp world tour? I thought LIV players werent allowed any other league
This is a Rory highlight only!!!! Says it in the title. They have regular highlight reel with everyone else. So many people in this comment section are not very smart. Yall are annoying
Hole 1, 1st shot: McIlroy gaining a mile via a downslope. Hole 1, 2nd shot: McIlroy losing a mile via a downslope.
Might aswell call this the Rory channel. Is there anyone else playing?
Honestly, I’m a HUGE Rory fan, but this is a joke now. 2 players shot 64, lots of other great shots and rounds played Thursday and yet we just get 10 mins of Rory’s round. I know we’re watching these videos for free (mostly) but put some effort into this content to keep your fans entertained. I’m watching from down under so can’t always watch live via paid streaming so I rely on these highlight reels to keep up.
Dp tour = mcilroy fan boys
fairway golf should get automatic divot relief
Their divots go further than my ball!!!
Please can you share highlights of all golfers? These players need an opportunity to reach fans and be celebrated. Rory is almost every thumbnail of your last 5-8 videos.
Calling a pretty easy shot an 188-yard shot is really wild
I’m confused. How many different BMW championships are there?
That fade was not working for Rory at all today 😭
Wow, I suprised how much Mcilroy seemed to struggle with his swing in this first round. Delays ans weather may have played a part. Hopfully he does better the rest of the tournament.
Can we PLEASE…. Not look at Rory…????!!!!!! Please
