The Ping G440 Max driver could be the most forgiving driver of 2025, it might also be the most forgiving driver of 2025 for all golfers. I test this for the second time to see if my initial enthusiasm was misplaced or is the the best new driver for 2025.

right good morning welcome back to the channel in what is an interesting video for me personally because a few weeks ago I got really excited when I tried the Ping g440 Max driver and I actually said this and I have just hit what is the longest ball I’ve recorded in 2025 and underneath here is quite possibly what I would consider the best driver that we have seen in 2025 now what I didn’t realize was during the making of that video there were a few things that ping had done to their driver this year round that uh arguably suggest it should be longer and the main thing being they’ increased the length of shaft but it was also very forgiving even though it wasn’t a 10K driver so what I want to find out today is is this still the longest driver I’ve tried in 2025 is it as forgiven as the 10K version because a lot of people out there are complaining that it isn’t 10K what sort of difference does it make and is this the driver to beat in 2025 so this is a set of numbers that got me really excited and one particular shot was the longest drive that hit for quite some time when we in track Mand data it was a 241 yard carry 264 yards overall a decent spin number a perfect launch angle and all off a club bed speed of just touching 98 mph it is in fact a perfect set of numbers very much optimal for someone with my kind of Club head speed but I did notice there was certainly a pickup in this club head speed and ultimately is that the only reason why the g440 ma is longer than any other driver I’ve tried so far this year so the big deal that I didn’t mention in my original review because I wasn’t uh privy of that information would you believe at that time was in fact they’ve lengthened the shaft it’s a 46 in shaft that is fitted as standard within the Ping g440 Max now that worries me a little because for the last 12 months 18 months I’ve suggested that average golfers should be look at shortening shafts and gaining more control however what I will say is during that initial testing I never really noticed the fact that I had a 46 in Long shaft and in fact I control the ball very well hit the ball in the right area so I was a little surprised when I learned that fact 142 ball speed little bit of a cut off 96.9 Club head speed all the numbers again you see there are very impressive indeed now what you’re going to see overlaid right now is a number of shots I hit just off screen earlier and they are very much similar to the one that I’ve just hit a little bit of a cut it’s my shot shape that I like to hit it’s not all out in terms of Club head speed but it’s very much controlled and it’s in exactly the same position time after time so one thing for me that I found so far is although this was on a longer shaft it was very much controllable and you then then want to consider this idea that this isn’t 10K from what I researched I found out this was just under 9,600 in terms of that Moi number that we all look for now to me I have no idea how you measure the difference between 96 and 10K but for me it’s an irrelevant number and perhaps a little bit of a myth that we’ve all got very much confused with 141 exactly the same sort of well Center stripe really just that little bit of cut this time 231 carry notice that number at the end of the screen which is that smash factor of 1.48 which means that this club head is very efficient indeed and again cled speed a just shy of 96 mph producing a 141 ball speed is incredibly effective that means to me that this face is certainly hot and what we’re going to look at is where in fact I’ve been hitting on this club face and just see if we can get any kind of measure on forgiveness and what that actually means to an average golfer because let’s be honest we a’t going to find a sensor every time what we want to see is what happens with the Miss hits with a g400 Max or g440 Max in our hands right this is where things get interesting for me and where trackman data is really important first of all those eight shots that I’ve now hit you can see that that grouping is extremely tight just left of center and then we’ve got that longest ball that we uh that we last hit actually which is also Center stripe and the longest so dispersion for me would be very good that’s kind of where I’m aiming left side of the Fairway but this is what I want to switch up to and it’s impact location because where we hit on the club face to me is what determines whether Club is forgiving or not and what you can see that’s a fairly decent strike that’s a fairly decent strike that’s a fairly decent strike that’s slightly off center again decent strike bit high in the face we’re going low in the club face here but still Center I think all these strikes are pretty much out of the middle of the club so there’s no concerns for me I mean that ball there interesting enough is probably the worst strike in terms of where it found on the club face it’s low had a couple of those if you like still doing 228 uh carry uh ball speeds remained at 143 would you believe off that lower strike so for me what’s key is we’re finding in and around the center we’ve got no high toe and low heel don’t get me wrong but essentially we’re in and around that sort of sweet spot and what’s happening is there’s a consistency with all the elements so what you want to see is with that low strike we’ve launched it a little bit lower at 12.1 we’ve still got the ball speed but there’s a lot of consistency throughout all the parameters that mean this driver face for me is performing incredibly well in both ball speed launch angle um and then what else have we got obviously those carry distances the one number that’s crept up uh on the last few shots which is interesting is the spin rate spin is creeping at 3 and a half th000 revs a little too high and that’s why custom fit is really important do we get that number really the optimum number for me would probably be this fourth shot here 24 spin 228 carry means it’s rolling out to 255 that is in fact the longest ball even though it wasn’t the longest carry so important that we recognize all those numbers but these are all at a club head speed in 95 m hour what I’m going to try and do now is just ramp it up a little bit if I’ve got that in me and just see if we can get that ball going out there as far as it did in the previous video so this now is all about can we get ball speed relative to Club head speed and get this carrying as far as I possibly felt good 142 ball speed down the middle and we’ve already cranked it up to 235 in terms of carry wall speed really um hasn’t risen Club head speed didn’t rise too much a mile an hour maybe and you already see the kind of the positive impact that has because ultimately distance is all relative to Club head speed in the main obviously what you want to see is you’re getting out the center of the club face as well but just that alone 1 mph produces that couple of extra mph ball speed and then everything becomes that little bit longer but again launch angle remains really good uh spin remains really good for what is a Max product again 143 again just yeah so we’re creeping right up there 237 now carry we’ve gained another half a mph in terms of Club head speed so again little bit more ball speed but what’s interesting about this ping product for me is that those things those elements have increased so Club head speeds got quicker but spin rate has stayed very consistent launch has stayed very consistent so these kind of products in the past would have been I say these kind of products the max version in any lineup was generally aimed at a slower Club head speed somebody was may be needing a little bit of a help with launch they may have spun a little too high but the tweaks that these manufacturers have made this year and in particular in this ping product for me is they’ve allowed the Forgiveness element that you get out of a Max product to be accessible to a better player let’s say and somebody that swings the club a little bit faster and it’s not detrimental to them and that for me has been the key as to what Ping have done this year the question we had or I had at the beginning of this video was did I get it wrong and ultimately I would suggest no I didn’t I got it spot on I think that this is a very efficient and long driver and I think the Ping have done an incredibly good job I said it was the longest driver I’ve tried in um 2025 what I actually meant was and it needed some clarification that was based on trying all the new drivers that have been released in January and I still believe that to be the case I have got the best numbers that I’ve tried with the Ping g440 Max so we’ll leave it there 237 carry didn’t quite get it out to the 241 but I’m sure if we got that club head speed by another mile or two an hour faster we’d be carrying this over the 240 mark and that is as good as I have got and had for quite some time right as ever thank you for watching hope you enjoyed it let me know if you’ve tried the Ping g440 Max driver for yourself now uh it’s been out in the shops and the ability to try for quite some time and I’d love to know if your feedback aligns with what I found in today’s and the previous video as ever thanks for watching and I will see you all soon

I'm an average swing speed person and the last thing us average golfers need is a longer driver shaft. In my opinion this is the reason people are saying it's not as forgiving as other new drivers or the older G430.
Love the follow-up. Thanks!
Went to get fit and I came out with a Qi35. I am not a TM fan, but i trust the fitter
I’ve been gaming a 425 max with a senior shaft. Thinking of the 440
Which shaft and flex are you using ?
🤔 you’re total with the G430 reg max was 259 and with the G440 max is 249. So, the G430 max is a better Driver and just as forgiving
I changed my G425 Max for a 440 Max about 3 weeks ago. I opted for a -1.5" shaft length … and the Tour Chrome 2.0 shaft for a lower launch. My better drives are now putting me up to perhaps 10 yards further down the fairway. The head is more forgiving, esp from heel strikes, and the shaft choice helps me personally. I play off 14.7 atm. Anyone considering a Ping upgrade, this works, and ignore the shaft length and order the size you want.
Hi Andy,
You are by far my favorite Youtube channel.
The first channel I ever subscribed to in fact.
Can you let me know if you prefer the G440 Max or the PXG Black Ops Driver please?
I am only an 85mph swing speed novice.
I live too far out to do any testing for drivers – I am looking at the Ping G430 10k or the newer Ping G440 max driver — My swing speed is similar to yours 94 to96 mph with a medium tempo and hitting the ball with a 3 degree upward swing – I am playing a Ping G430 max 9 degree driver now – Is it worth the upgrade and if so, which driver would you recommend – I am looking for at least 5 more yards in distance
Bought it tried it loved it…keeping it..I tried them all on the trackman range .titleist, elyte, qi35, cobra, Wilson dynapower carbon…my own USA Ryder cup stealth 2….im 58 single figures comparison stiff shafts first ping g440 simply for the dispersion and for me a surprise second was the Wilson carbon which was decent.the G440 is stunning re ball flight length and dispersion none of the others came close and I hit upwards over 200 balls
Bought it last week. Never been more in love!
Another great review. I agree with you to much spin. I would like to see you crank the loft down or try a stiff shaft in the same club head to see the difference or I’d be interested in seeing you hit the last with this shaft and same loft
Can you do g430 10k vs g440?
I’m still a big slicer and now I’m thinking I should have gone with the sft. What should I try setting wise here to minimize it without shooting the spin too much
Love my 430
Yes 10k is measurable but its still subjective.
Would an average golfer even notice a difference between 10K and 9600K MOI? 🤷🏼♂️
Hitting fairways a lot more consistently after getting fit for this driver has made my whole game a lot more enjoyable now.
Love my G440 LST.
Listen guys…I don't know who needs to hear this….I bought a ping g430 max ( regular version) … I wanted to get the 10k model but got sold on the one I got from the sales rep at Dick's sporting goods LOL…. anyhow I did some research… apparently they use different size weights in the rear ( adjustable counterweight with exception of the 10k model) …..the regular max version of the g430 driver comes with a 25 gram weight…the LST model is 27 …the 10k is 28 grams…the 440 max is the heaviest at 29 grams from the factory…. well I also found out that you can actually order kits of these weights online from 5-34 grams ….I just ordered 3 .( 27,29,31 grams) I have already swapped the shaft for a KBS HL 50 gram regular flex and just put the 31 gram counterweight on the back of the head….it DEFINITELY changed the characteristics of the ball flight…it increased the lift and added a more solid feel at impact…. they're not that expensive and if you have ALREADY shelled out 500$ bucks for a driver that you're still not satisfied with…. it's definitely worth a try….. LOL…..
Bro you are the guy I go to as our game is the same. But I got the 440 max and man I am killing it. I was worried about long shaft but it’s been awesome
what shaft did you use with the Ping test you did?
I love my 440 max driver/ tensei 1k blackb65g shaft! So forgiving and high launch.. numbers are incredible too I can drive anywhere from 280 to 330 yard
