The 1975 Baffler design with rails on the sole was not only an innovative idea but sparked an almost cult following among recreational players that’s still true today. The 2025 return is found in combo sets both for men and women.
The “long irons,” i.e., 4- and 5- in men’s and 5- and 6- in women’s are really hybrids, hollow-bodied with dual sole rails followed by hybrid irons, hollow irons and cavity back irons as the lofts increase.
The sole rails Tom Crow invented smooth turf interaction especially from the rough but also the fairway and they quickly became a feature for Cobra’s fairway woods and hybrids. The new Baffler has steeper rails in the long irons and hybrids graduating to shallower configurations in the short irons with the wedge having slightly raised rails.
“We built the Baffler combo set to help golfers enjoy every swing,” said Jose Miraflor, VP of Product Architecture and Consumer Connections, Cobra Golf. “Cobra is proud to offer the first combo set that features five unique constructions, providing golfers with effortless distance and easy playability.”
