First off, Josiah, shout out to you for predicting the round for 14 under from Anthony Burella. We both kind of said like I think anybody who’s on the bubble here is really capable of like they’re all going to shoot recklessly abandoned to try and get into first place. Um, and one of them is going to do it. And you said you were very confident it was going to be Anthony Bella and it was going to be about 14 under. He shot 15 under, got himself up on the lead card. Second place, Ganon Burr just never messed up. He his blunders were not getting 14 and 15 unders. We saw these crazy highs out of Anthony Bella. Um but yesterday when Reed and I were talking, I did mention I was like, but we’ve seen his bad rounds here. Um Anthony Bella is capable of a, you know, quote unquote bad round. Four under 1025 rated uh in the Pro Tour is not is just not going to cut it. for any human being, normal human being. That’s an insane round. Um, but Ganon Burr just never shot under seven or seven worse than seven under par. Uh, and Ganon Burr ended up taking home the MO by one stroke, mind you. So, Ganon Burr, it was all he needed was to shoot those very consistent rounds. He shot nine under, 1060 rated. Aaron Goss was hot on his tail, though. Ended up finishing 42 under, one stroke off the lead. He shot a scorching 13 under on the beast, 1090 rated uh bogey-free round. The goose was cooking. He had such a good tournament and he really really gave Ganon a run for his money. Uh he even birdied the last hole going into the clubhouse feeling pretty confident. Um but Ganon Burr just seemed untouchable. He seemed unfazed by anything. Nicholas Antela also made a run 41 under two strokes off the lead. Um a 12under round. These guys were hungry in it to win it. Super exciting finish. Ezra Aderhold, uh, 37 under, much to his credit. I’m sure he would have preferred to walk away with the win. Um, but being able to maintain that lead card after his crazy pop off on round two. That’s just so much disc golf to play. So, mad props to him for staying up there, finishing fourth place, solo fourth place. Anthony Bella did have an unfortunate finish. four underpar as I mentioned dropped down to tied for fifth place and once again that hole 16 we talked about it on the podcast but many of you know I know sucks to bring it up again but hole 16 has haunted Anthony Burella and it again haunted him today didn’t cost him the tournament um it wasn’t enough for him to win but he triple bogeied hole 16 did cost him a couple thousand bucks but um you know still put together a great tournament uh And it’s kind of sad to see our some of our favorites and previous world champions not do um not win, I should say. But we actually had some really solid finishes. Paul McBth shot 12 under the final round. Um jumping up as he does kind of the the last couple rounds of a tournament that he’s out of. He never gives up. Shoots 12 under, jumps 18 spots, finishes tied for eighth place. That’s awesome. Calvin Heimberg tied for 10th place with Andrew Marweed and uh Gavin Babcock, Isaac Robinson, and Ezra Robinson all right next to each other um within one stroke and they all finished within the top 15. Really good tournament, really exciting on the MO side. What were some of your takeaways before we jump into FPO? What were some of your takeaways from the MO division um and this whole tournament? Really? Yeah. Uh a few big takeaways. First of all, uh Niklass is is going to get one of these eventually. Dude is just dude is so consistent at majors. It’s insane cuz even like he’s come in second at USDGC a couple times. Um he came in second at Worlds last year uh to Isaac or the year before. Um pretty sure it was last year. Um yeah, last year. And then he had that unfortunate roll away. Uh this year uh Niklos had a putt. He had a shot. He had a outside putt that if he made he birdied the hole and G it would have forced Ganon to birdie the last hole. Unfortunately he missed and it basically guaranteed that uh Ganon would only had to par out the last hole in order to to take it down. Uh this is now the second time we’ve seen Aaron Goss um come in second at a Worlds doing that losing to Paul in a playoff. And I think that’s insane that uh that Goose can come in so close at the World Championships and he still has yet to win a Pro Tour event, I believe. Um so props to him, props to Nikos. Really cool to see Ezra uh staying near the top. um he would have had to shoot just as hot as uh Niklos or Aaron in order to win this one. And um he just didn’t have that. But uh it’s super cool to see him come this close to the top. Uh you did mention Anthony Burell. The one thing I want to say about Anthony Bella, you were right. Hole 16 didn’t cost him the tournament, but I do think it was the three holes before that that cost him the tournament. Um yeah, the day he So the fourth round, the last six holes of that course, he went three underpar over those six holes. And the last round he went four overpar those same six holes. Yes, that’s contract. And if you do the difference, that comes out to 43 underpar, which is what Ganon Burr ended up at. So it would have like if he had done the same thing yesterday on the same things and we’re not asking for much the force like that’s that would have put him at 111 on the round which still isn’t as hot as Nicholas or Aaron it’s still a like a phenomenal round but it isn’t his negative 15 he just needed to come out and close out with some birdies in the same way that he did in round four and he would have been up there. Um, but I I knew Ganon was too consistent and he has, you know, I it’s weird saying that Ganon has veteran status of winning pro tour events at this point, but he really does have experience in those clutchy old or whatever. Yeah, it’s insane. And I remember a couple years ago when he lost to Drew Gibson at the Las Vegas challenge and he still hadn’t had a win yet. They’re all like, “Ah, it’s just due for him one one of these days.” And now it’s just like, no, Ganon is the one you don’t want to be fighting against when it comes down the stretch because he’s so clutch uh at the end. So that’s that’s really cool to see Ganon finally getting his first one. Um cool highlight moment. Uh Anthony Burella on hole 18 of the beast had a I’m going to call it a 45 foot putt for uh birdie uh because he threw off the tea. OB just short of the basket. So, uh we’ll talk about it a little bit, but where Lita’s um uh first putt uh in the playoff was, that’s where Anthony Burella was putting from after his T-shot. He just threw it up and over everything. It’s a 700t hole uphill and and it was one of the most insane throws I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Yes, he was OB. Yes, it was a putt for birdie. Yes, he didn’t make it. But that T-shot is insane. So if you haven’t seen that T-shot from Anthony Bella, I would highly recommend going back and watching that because he he had nothing left to lose at that point. And he was just putting out a show for the thousands of people that were there and and they got what they wanted to see out of that. So that was super cool. Um that is super cool. Yeah. though. But really, really I will say even watching Hole 18, you’re like Ganon’s still got to like Ganon is playing for par, which you know he didn’t practice and he looked so nervous. I don’t typically see Ganon this nervous. Yeah. But he looked noticeably nervous down the stretch on that team. So my Yeah. I mean it’s worlds. It’s a different feeling. Everybody knows that when you get your when you get a world title, that is like such a crazy career turn. I mean, think about James Conrad who was really famous, but now he he has the holy shot. He’s a world champion and people will remember him forever. It’s true. Uh I like I know that Greg Barsby won a world championship. It’s true. That’s wild. It’s just like and he’s Ganon Burr. He’s already proved himself. Two-time USGC champion. uh just an absolute probably the best player um currently in the world. But uh completing a world champ like we’ve talked about our doubts of him being deserving him or Calvin being deserving of those player of the year awards because they didn’t win worlds. Uh they didn’t have like multiple majors in the same season like Isaac did that one season. Um I mean I think Ganon did have I’m talking about Isaac versus Calvin the one year and then Isaac versus Ganon the other year. Um, but we were kind of questioning them like they didn’t win worlds and people would always say like I’d trade my season even though I won eight events. I’d prefer to win worlds. Um, which is kind of a weird thing about disc golf, but that’s the way it goes. And I am wondering if, and this was probably not going through his mind at all, but we say he was nervous coming up on 18. We talk about his tournament, how his best round, I believe, was round one 10 under. Uh he shot 10 under on the beast which is an insane round but obviously we’ve seen people shoot 14 15 uh at the beast. He didn’t have any of those crazy and he shot 10 under the final round or the fourth round also. He didn’t have any of those crazy absolute pop off rated rounds. Um and this is my theory last year at Worlds. He talked about this. He talked about um warming up with Isaac and he was like I think Isaac is going to win Worlds. Uh, and he’s just he Isaac Robinson did something similar. They had um New London, which is a really tight technical thing. It played really well to Isaac’s strengths. But then you had this open course that everyone was like, “Man, this is open for business. I can really rip out here. I can shoot a 14, 15, 16 under, something crazy like that.” Um, they’re like, “These players are capable of it.” But it was testing you and getting you to shoot. So, some people did. they shot a 145 under and then the next time they went out there they shot a three under, a two under. Um Isaac Robinson, he did kind of pop off. He had he tied for the hot round but even then it was a tie for the hot round on the first day at New London and after that it was just steady. He shot 57 59 61 61 62 at Worlds last year. He didn’t get this crazy 15 16 under par, but he never shot under like worse than a seven or eight under. Yeah. And I’m wondering if Ganon Burr went into this event knowing that he could shoot 15 16 under at the beast. If it was his best day, he’s fully capable of doing it. He has all the tools he needs to do that. But he went in with a game plan. His game plan, I’m assuming, was 10 under. And he’s thinking if I shoot 10 under every day at the beast and I shoot seven under every day at the monster tournament beforehand before the rounds he I think he said double digits at the beast and then six under at the monster and that’s going to win and that’s what he did. He shot 10 seven 10 and then the final round he only had to get a nine. Yep. And yeah, which is kind of I think it’s scary. We’re seeing a controlled Ganon Burr who has is going into adulthood and becoming mature and understanding that I don’t have to shoot 15 or 16 under. I just have to shoot 10 under every day which again to a normal human being that’s insane. We can’t just control that. Uh but I think he’s just becoming more mature and he’s he saw how Isaac won last year and he’s like I can do that. Uh and he did it this year. Super consistent. So well played. such good disc golf. Um, and obviously there’s more than one way to the top. Aaron Goss was a had a little bit more um, you know, distance score discrepancies between his rounds, but he was right there because he absolutely popped off in this final round shooting uh, 12 13 under. So, that would have been cool to see. I loved how tight it was at the finish. I was really, it is kind of funny because ever since day one of this tournament, all three of us, me, you, and Reed, were like his Gan’s top five, he’s probably going to win. There’s just not the Vegas odds, it felt like were in his favor the entire tournament, even though he wasn’t in first place until coming into today. Yeah. But still close race and I really did want to see Nicholas Antela win. If he would have hit that putt, it would have been historic. It would have been uh like just below the Holy Shot levels of hype. Um really would have been the hometown hero. Would have been awesome. Still a great tournament. Let’s jump over to the FO side because we also had an absolute down tothe-wire finish. We had a playoff finish on the FO side. Um and we talked about uh a lot of what we talked about a couple rounds ago was the experience that own Scoggins has coming in. She wasn’t um she was in third place if I’m not mistaken. Yep. Third place coming into the final day um because she had dropped a spot. But we talked about the experience of ownoggins versus um that that little bit of lacking experience from a if it would play a factor or not. After uh yesterday, we almost saw a I say yesterday our film schedule was all off. So, round four, there was almost a historic uh round by a which would have been so cool. And you saw maybe a little bit of jitters, maybe a little bit of what Reed mentioned was um she also, if for those who didn’t watch, hole 16, the infamous hole where you have to make this island or else you just keep throwing it over and over again. Maybe lacking a little bit of experience to bring a backup disc. That is your like you throw your favorite disc and then you’re out of it and you have to throw something you weren’t planning on throwing and then you throw your second favorite disc and now that’s gone and it looked like by the end she was almost out of discs there which that didn’t that one hole we can’t say really cost her the tournament but it c it was eight strokes she octuple bogeied so maybe a little bit of inexperience there. Uh and then today going into a playoff on Scoggins um shot five underpar. So super well-earned to get up there and tie this position. Shot one underpar which again is a good round by all means. Only a handful of people shot underpar on the day. One underpar for the FPO at the beast was a really good round this day. Um going into a playoff with the own Scoggins. They go um to hole 18, 699 ft, par five. And we’ll kind of paint the picture for you here there. This is where there’s a little bit of controversy, but I think I don’t know. We’re going to talk about it and you guys can let us know what you think in the comments below. A is coming up to an approach shot and she throws out of bounds. Previously on the hole, on Scoggins had already thrown out of bounds. So now, but on Scoggins had a better approach shot. So we have On Scoggins at probably I’ll give it 18 foot putt for par. Um anda looks like maybe what a little bit outside circle one 35 38 40T something like that. Probably about 40T probably about 40 foot putt for par as well coming down to it. And so you’re like, “Okay, she probably needs to make this. If she makes it, it’ll continue on. She’s fully capable of making it.” And she walks up and lays it up. And the announcers were even like, “I wonder if she mis like just miscounted how many strokes she had or if she maybe thought that didn’t realize that the playoff doesn’t count towards her overall score. She wouldn’t lose any placement points or cash or anything like that.” Um, she was all smiles at the end of the round. own Scoggins would go on to cash her 18 20-footer. Um I and I feel like I’m being generous there. I feel like it was closer to 15 ft, but maybe 1820 foot um par. And obviously I’m not taking away anything from own. I’m not taking anything away from a phenomenal rounds. Uh I think maybe her idea she said she wasn’t confident in the putt and at the end of the day I can totally relate to that and understand uh not being confident in the putt. It could have clanged off the cage, rolled OB, and maybe she was thinking, “Oh, this isn’t a guaranteed putt.” We’ve seen a lot of players miss 18-footers, especially in these giant pressure situations. Um, and so she kind of just conceded the putt there. Whether or not it was the right move, I feel like in a different scenario, if these are different players, uh, and this is where it gets a little ticky tacky. I’m not going to give too much of my opinion, but I will say I remember many people absolutely roasting the heck out of um dang it, I can’t even remember. Do you remember the It was a throwin at Blue Ridge for a plus event or it was a new event, Bradley Williams. Bradley Williams and he got absolutely flamed for not running a 150 footer. It was like a 150 ft throw and if he would have made it it would he would have won and he laid it up and he got absolutely roasted for that. So we’re not going to do that to we absolutely respect the decision but I’m just saying that I would call this a miscue. I think anyone who knows disc golf or I shouldn’t say no anyone who knows disc golf anyone who watched James Conrad throw in the holy shot you know that if there if there’s a little bit of doubt you want to be in control of your own destiny and I would say she should probably have run that putt that’s of course coming from a spectator perspective she had an incredible tournament maybe she’s just thinking I’m happy to be here in a playoff for the world championship I’m 15 years old I’m going to come back and get another world championship worse comes to worse Um, that’s all I’ll say. What were your opinions on the matter, just what did you think about this final round? I mean, obviously it’s it’s hard when we’re spectators and we know the obvious decision, you know, in Bradley Williams, you know, situation, too. It’s like, why would you not throw like try and throw it in? And he’s just like, I just want second place at that point, I think, was his reasoning. He’s like, I have no shot. It’s pouring. I just want the second place. It’s proour points. It’s a little bit of cash on the line. That one him laying up made more sense than this one. Um to me and I I don’t understand the layup. She said in a statement that she wasn’t comfortable in her putt and that I understand. The only reason I can think of is that she was just hoping that would miss the putt. The problem is, and maybe I I think this is where the veteran status versus the like probably what her first world championship and her first ever like I don’t know if she’s played many pro tour events period. Um let alone come close to winning one. And so what I think happened is she thought Owen was going to miss. But anybody who says if I could pick an FPO player at 15 to 20 feet to make a putt, OW own is top two or three people that I’m picking. Oh, easily in a putt. You know, there’s a long list of people where it’s like 15 to 20 feet, that’s still not a guaranteed putt. But when it comes to own, it’s it’s probably going in the basket. So that’s where I’m just like, why would you bet against own in that distance? I can think of several other players where I would bet against it if you weren’t feeling confident. Yeah, lay it up and hope that they miss to if you didn’t feel comfortable yourself. But in this situation, I’m like, Owen’s making that. And I know that as a spectator because I’ve been watching OWN for 5 years, you know, so I I know that that’s going to happen, whereas probably may not have been uh or maybe she didn’t know that. And I think that’s just where the experience comes into a factor or inexperience rather. And that’s that’s the only logical thing I can think of as to why she would have laid up in in that situation. But I again I think she was super happy to be there. Um I I’ve heard that it was fun cards the last two days for the FPO field. Um and everybody was having a great time which is at the end of the day the whole point of disc golf is to go out there and have fun. Um and so you think this is a game. I know right. Well, yeah, actually. So, so I I think that’s kind of at the end of the day what happened is she was like, “This is a game. I’m here. Let’s like let’s go for the chance. I don’t Maybe she was tired. Maybe she didn’t want to continue a playoff, you know, or something like that. Cuz this making the putt pushes the playoff. It doesn’t it’s not guaranteed.” And so maybe she’s hoping maybe Owen just misses this and we can continue to play off that side. I I don’t know. But um either way, great result. Happy for either of them. Happy for both of them to come like for Owen’s first worlds and um fora to do this. Well, I think we’re all super excited to see her again in the future. So, I think that’s going to be really fun. Oh, yeah. No, I I am so pumped. I’m really hoping she can get over to the United States. I will overemphasize that. We are not taking anything away from what an incredible performance. Oh yeah. If anything, I’d be in the mindset of like every time like in any other situation of the tournament, she’s laying up. So, she might have just went into autopilot and been like, “This is a crazy putt that I’m going to lay up.” And that’s what I would have done cuz it’s a horrifying putt with OB all around it. Um, so maybe she just went into autopilot. Uh, it’s impossible to put ourselves in the shoes of someone who’s in a playoff for the World Championship. Um, so super huge respect toa. I really hope uh I don’t know how you do that. You drop out of school and come over to the United States so we can see her play more in tournaments. Um, it would be awesome to see that level of competition in the pro tour every week. And huge shout out to on Skogggins for winning her first world championship and showing you that like in disc golf, I mean both of these players are showing you that in disc golf you can be 15 years old, you can be 45 years old. uh you have a shot at glory in disc golf and there’s so much so many exciting things to happen. And speaking of we also don’t want to miss the fact um that Ella Hansen made a run. Uh she shot 12 under par 1057 rated eagled whole 15 um to get up within one stroke of going into that playoff with him. She bogeied whole 18. If she would have par whole 18, she would have been in that playoff, which is absolutely wild. 1057 rated, by the way, I don’t know it off the top of my head, but I believe is a top 10 FPO round of all time. Probably underrated, I think. I don’t see how because I maybe the weather was worse, but when a was on her way to shooting seven or eight under um on round four, it was looking like a scorcher. like she was going to shoot close to 1080 or something like that. So, I don’t know how the ratings work exactly. I don’t think anybody does. I don’t think they actually do work all the time. Uh but 12 underpar on possibly the final round of the beast that we will ever see. Very sad. Um, but you know, now and Anthony Bella can sleep well knowing that whole 16 is behind them forever. Although did shoot, she birdied hole 16 the last day, which yeah, her mental fortitude was insane cuz after that Octo octuple bogey, she came back and birdied and then today she stepped up to hole 16 and birdied. That’s insane. That is mental fortitude that I know nobody at my local league has, including myself. Um, awesome, awesome tournament. Probably one of my favorite worlds. I loved that it was in Europe. I loved the courses we played. Super exciting. What were you going to say? Uh, I just looked it up. Highest rated round ever was 1059 in FPL. Wow. Yes. So, she was got to be Paige Pierce back in the day. It It is Paige Pierce. Yes. Paige Pierce actually has a 1059, a 1058, and a 1057. Yeah. I don’t know if ratings changed, but it’s the same for Paul McBth. He has like out of the top 100 rated rounds of all time, he’s got probably like 45 of them. Yes. Yeah. No, and it was all cuz back in the day, I don’t know what it means in all of these are prior to 2020, but Kristen has uh a 1055 and that I’m going to call it the highest in the postcoid era of of disc golf. That is the highest is 1055 post 2020. Awesome historic day for Ella Hansen. Uh absolutely insane day for the MO field. Let us know what you thought of 2025 Worlds down in the comments. Let us know if you enjoyed uh this sort of style of podcasting. We’ve never done this before. It was very experimental. Um and so we would love to possibly do it again sometimes. If you guys would like us to be sure to comment down below and let us know that you um enjoyed this. And thank you guys so much for following along and watching. We’ll see you in the next one in our regularly scheduled programming. Stay swanky.

They are pro disc golfers. The "disc golf is for fun" is so ridiculous at the pro level
If disc golf wants to be taken seriously, they need to up the purses. A ball golf friend of mine asked how much the winner received. When I told him 20k, he laughed derisively. The US Open golf winner got $4.3 million out of a total purse of over $21million.
