FTF: Scottie Scheffler vs. Tiger Woods – A Fair Comparison?
The woods are starting to roll in. Wow. Scotty said, “Slow down, everybody. Take a listen.” I still think they’re a bit silly. You know, Tiger won what? 15 majors. It’s my fourth. Just got one/4 of the way there. So, just I mean, it’s I I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf. Yeah, totally agree. Here’s the thing. Claire Rogers tweet pretty much perfect. Tiger’s first major, the Masters 97. His fourth major, 2000 open, was 1197 days apart. Scotty’s first major 22 Masters. Scotty’s fourth major 25 open, 97 days apart. So that lines up literally perfect except he’s 5 years older. So So So well, I mean that’s the that’s the problem, right? The problem. So like Well, Tigers was soant. Yeah. So but we’re comparing them. Okay. So my answer is no. I agree with I agree with Scotty. And like Tiger after those first four, he then won four of the next seven. He had he had eight by the age of 26. Scotty is 29. Tiger had 14 at the age of 32. Again, Scotty is four. And he’s 29. And here is the other thing, and this is where and Scotty is great. He is the best golfer in the world. And there is a big gap. Nobody can deny that. And our wonderful Hall of Fame caliber director Rick before and after every major comes in. He’s like, “You ready to call him Tiger yet?” He loves Scotty Shepler. And here’s what I’ve told Rick and I will tell anyone. I have had this exact discussion on the radio in Kansas City, the radio in Houston, and this show when it was on in the mornings, and now this show here with four different people because he is the fourth guy to reel off a streak like this post tiger. And we can show you who they are because Rory did something like this. SPath did something like this. Brooks did something like this. Scotty has now done something like this. Oh my god, this guy’s going to get to 10. And none of those guys have cracked five. And so or more than five. And so this is where Brew’s helpful to remind people from the modern era of golf. Jack’s got 18, Tigers got 15, Gary Player nine, Tom Watson eight, Arnold Palmer seven, no one else more than six. So if he gets to six, he’s in the discussion for, you know, a top five or six modern era golfer. And so no, like he he has the right perspective. Everyone else a little too much. He does have the right perspective. And I’m sure part of it is obviously Tiger was just phenomenal for his stretch run on the course, but just the cultural, the racial aspect that made him just larger than life for that period of time. Obviously, Sheffller doesn’t have, but the and I don’t I agree with you because I think Sheffller could fade like like those guys you mentioned, but here’s the graphic. Before 30, Tiger, you said he’s five years what, five years older. That’s the difference before 30. Now, when you take their first 25 major appearances, it’s not that much of a difference. that it’s flipped. We have that graphic. Yeah. Yeah. That So that’s Yeah, they flipped. Tiger has the nine wins. This is wrong, but that’s fine. Is that No, because he only has four. So that graphic Yeah. So that that graphic was wrong. Do we Yeah, but he has four major wins. Tiger had six. Yeah. And so the thing that would if he continued this streak, it would be can he have more longevity than Tiger and not have the injuries and stuff? And so I I just I don’t but I agree. I don’t think he’ll beat Tiger Wood. This is we we have to do a better job across sports of appreciating a guy who’s one of the greats without trying to snap be like how does he compare to the greatest because it like it does them a disservice again like the he can he eclipse Phil Mickelson’s career? Absolutely. Is Phil Mickelson one of the 10 greatest modern era golfers? Yes. Like that’s amazing. That is for a guy who three years ago had zero majors. That’s or three and a half years ago. That’s amazing. You know what I mean? Could he approach maybe if everything falls perfectly Arnold Palmer? Arnold freaking Palmer. Yeah. Wow. That would be unbelie right. That would be unbelievable. But Arnold Palmer has less than half of what Tiger had. before the age of 30 won the Open Masters PJ Championship. She chef Tiger, Jack Nicholas, and Gary Player. Something good for him. I like the fact that he also doesn’t care. Well, he has the he cares for two seconds. He’s moving.

Ummm no tiger is well short of Jack.15 to 18 wins 19 to 6 second place finishes. Jack had 8 to 10 hof players to beat. Who did tiger have to beat?
He's on a Tiger-esque run. However he is nowhere near the same player as tiger
More golf talk please! Loved the discussion
Scotty will play 10 years longer!!! 🤷
No lol
Scottie is just heating up and tiger had already peaked at 30. Scottie's 30s should be a lot better than Tiger's. Tiger was basically done when he turned 40, 1 major. Should be interesting, idk if Scottie will catch up in total majors, my guess is he'll end up in the 10-15 range
The only time Nick goes with the GOAT vs the new guy lol
Tiger was very distracted in the middle of his career. If Scottie stays focused he has a shot.
Scotty run wasn’t better than Brooks
Wow, so at that rate though, he would have 8 majors in 50 appearances, and 12 in 75 appearances. Maybe it just depends how long he plays/cares lol.. Def chill with the Tiger comparisons, but it looks like he might win 10 majors, cuz I don't see him getting any worse over the next 5 or 10 years.
great work ftf graphics team as per
I dont love the age argument in golf, because some players are elite into their late 30s/40s whereas tiger had a pretty hard fall off largely due to injuries and other things. Scottie could absolutely dominate for the next 5 years and get to 10, hes already 1 US Open from the grand slam this kinda feels like the "over/under on mahomes superbowls" after they lost to tampa and some people were like "he may never even make it back" just for him to come within arms reach of a 3peat in the next 4 years after that. Wouldnt put anything past him to this point.
Scottie will likely, God willing, have a longer career, most because of…reasons
Who’s this Captain Morgan/Luigi guy? “He’s 5 years older!” Hey Captain Green Lantern, Tiger got a divorce at 34 and lost his dominance along with half his 💩. Scottie just needs to keep his pants on when traveling and those 5 years won’t mean a thing.
Obviously no, but it is funny to see them use logic when some here were verryyy quick to crown mahomes under similar circumstances
Not even in the same ballpark
Brou is kind of dumb for bringing up race.
Tiger was playing bums. Change my mind…
Prime ernie and Phil are 85 times better than anyone on tour. Behind Scottie and Rory there’s a bunch of guys that are definitely not better than anyone of tigers competition
Friendly reminder that Rory and Scottie had about the exact same amount of majors in around the exact same amount of appearances. Rory went another 10 years before winning another one. Tiger stands alone
Nicklaus is the best. When someone else wins their 18th major come and talk until then silence
It’s more than silly it’s a joke to even bring it up. We’re supposed to laugh, not debate.
Scotty is amazing…but if you saw tiger play during his prime, you know how right scotty is…theres two people in the goat discussion and it will always be that way
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
A bit silly is an understatement dude was winning majors at 50-75% clip and getting second when he didn’t.
Umm. Nobody should ever be compared to the GOAT. Period.
MJ, Brady, Gretzky, Woods, these guys are the Goats are their profession and always will be.
Nick, take your own advice!!! Stop comparing great players to the GREATEST. The lack of self awareness is staggering. All of us who respect Jordan and Brady beg you!
Nick points out the obvious…yeah he’s 5 years older lol. If Tiger Woods personal life didn’t crash and burn his entire career/confidence dude would’ve won 20+ majors. Golf is weird in that I still don’t know if the GOAT is actually Bobby Jones lol.
Professional golf is splintered. Scheffler is not competing against the best golfers in the world on a regular basis.
Wow. How stupid. Not close.
No
Tiger is not just the GOAT of golf, he’s the GOAT of all sports all time, ever. Phelps is 2nd.
White Men were so sick over Tiger kicking their collective asses. That they created "Tigerproofing" to slow down his momentum. I bet you the PGA will NEVER Scottieproof the courses. Why? Scottie is white.
tiger played against guys that hit it 260.
Funny how Nick values winning titles when comparing anyone but Lebron to MJ and Mahomes to Brady. lol
No it’s not, Tiger is one of the two best players ever.
Tiger woods was the mj of golf for a decades,in the early 2000s tiger woods was in god mode and dominated the golf since Nicolas and was a trailblazer and on another level .he was prodigy chasing ghost and rewriting the golf books in real time
I don't know anything thing about golf, but I find it funny how this debate parallels the Mahomes vs Brady debate yet Nick and Wildes are on the opposite sides this time
Ummm Nick u need to use tht same argument with BRADY and Mahomes buddy
Nick’s response is surprising given how quickly he wanted to say Mahomes was the GOAT
The graphic alone shouldn’t have been made 😭
Stop comparing Scheffler to Tiger Woods. Let's enjoy his greatest in this moment. He's dominating the golf world. Celebrate him. Don't compare him to a legend. It is disrespectful to what Scottie is doing now!!!
Heres the stat that i always say to these newbies and kids….
Scottie has to stay #1 in the world for 11 more years consecutively and win 11 more major in those 11 years to reach Tigers greatness.
Its not even close.
