Chris Gotterup: Scottish Open win a ‘notch in the belt’ for confidence | Golf Central | Golf Channel

Chris got her up closing 66 for a two-stroke victory. You won on the PGA Tour before last year in Myrtle Beach. Does this time feel different? And if so, how? I mean, it’s different, but it’s it’s still equally as hard. Um, obviously, you know, everyone, you know, tried to not tried to, but, you know, playing against Rory tomorrow today and and obviously other great players in the field and um but at the end of the day, it’s still you got to execute the shots and you got to play well to win and I did that today. Rory was just talking about how in control you seemed like you were all day long, but your lead did get cut to one shot on 15. What were your emotions like? And talk about the bounce back on 16. I mean, frankly, um, we were we got warned on 12 or whatever hole. I don’t know what it was, but uh, and then they individually timed me on 15. Uh, and I was like, what the hell? Like, what’s going on? um I’m trying to win a golf tournament and and focus and you know it was just another obstacle but I felt like I handled it really well and um I think you know I’d like to think that was probably maybe part of it but I got my head screwed back on and like I talked about yesterday with 16 being the hole and you know and I it was the hole today. Going headtohead with the world number two today coming out ahead. What does that speak to say about yourself and what did you learn about yourself today? It’s just another notch in the belt that I know I can do it. Um especially when I have my my game that feels good and um I I’d like to think that I’m good at, you know, winning when I and when I have the chance. And uh yeah, I mean today is awesome and it’s just nothing but good. I mean, I’m excited for for next week and, you know, the rest of the season. And finally, what does it mean to qualify for the Open today? Yeah, it’s awesome. I mean, it’s definitely one that I’ve wanted to play in forever. Um, I remember watching on the couch in the morning at home watching it uh with my dad and brother and stuff. So, it’ll be cool. And um, yeah, I’m just excited.

Great win Chirs ! So many more to come and a long and bright future ahead of you !
Fantastic win. tbh, i never saw Chris holding off the vast majority of the European Ryder cup team, on their own turf. this is one that you never forget.
Thought Chris played great. Some of the shots he played under pressure were amazing. The Ref putting pressure on him over the shot clock was absolutely ridiculous.
Wow!! Congratulations!!! It’s great to see a NJ native win a championship.
