Hey everybody. Um, just our weekly visit with Guy Vogrin. Kind of talk about some of the fun stuff going on around Ohio and the country. And Guy, I don’t know about you, but I’m excited. Last week I went to Netflix and I saw Happy Gilmore on there. I thought was the new one for a second. I got excited, started watching it. It was the old Happy Gilmore, but the new one is coming on in uh Friday and we lost Guy temporarily. Um so let’s talk a little about Happy Gilmore. Uh again coming up uh Friday, Happy Gilmore 2, the sequel comes out. Uh they’ve got some of the old guard back uh from Julie Bowen uh who served in the middle of the movie summer movie season and uh last week was Superman and many of the fast food commercials are uh touting uh both Happy Gilmore and Superman. And uh yeah, I’m I’m looking forward to the the Happy Gilmore sequel. uh Adam Sandler getting back in the groove. It it’ll be uh interesting to see who he has a fight on the green with. Well, we’ve got um you know, his love interest is coming back, Julie Bowen, who really wasn’t as well known during the first movie. Now she’s, you know, had her time with Modern Family and some other stuff. Um Carl Weathers, remember was his caddy um his teacher and everything. Unfortunately, Carl died about a year ago. Uh saw some stories about how um Adam Sandler was talking with him. They’re trying to uh plan out what to do and unfortunately Carl passed. Uh but you’re going to see some golfers in it, too. They got some PGA people making cameos. I don’t know. I’m looking forward to it. Happy Gilmore wasn’t my favorite Adam Sandler movie, but I need a little nostalgia and I’m excited to see this come. Right. And I also seen there’s going to be live golfers too. So that maybe uh you know uh the old lefty coming in making an appearance and hopefully maybe uh Mahoning Valley’s own uh Jason Coak may uh may he’s a left golfer. He may show up too. So, it’ll be interesting to see what golfers will be there. I mean, will we have a like a live PJ argument? Like at the end, will Happy be forced to choose between the PJ and maybe the Liv and PGA golfers will be brawling on the course. Yeah. Yes. Maybe Happy will get that big deal from the Saudis and see if he takes it or not. It should be pretty interesting. Um, I’m seeing, you know, Travis Kelsey, uh, was in it for a little bit. Um, Bad Bunny the rapper. I I mean, we’ve got all kinds of different things. This should be pretty interesting, right? With Travis Kelce, you you got to wonder if Taylor Swift may show up also. You never know. Or or maybe she’ll be like in the background or something. I It would make sense. Um, or or at least one of her songs will be showing up in the soundtrack. Yes. Yes. Um, you know, Scooter McGavin, who was like his foil during the first movie, he’s gonna be back. It’s interesting. Scooter and I’m not sure if the actor who plays Scooter runs it or maybe it’s some, you know, guy affiliated with the actor, whatever the case might be. But that’s a pretty popular Twitter account even in the year since the movie. So, it’s been a little bit more active recently. Uh, that account. I’m kind of intrigued to see what will happen with uh with Scooter McGavin. Right. And the actor, of course, has been appearing in the fast food commercials and uh he’s he’s got a cup after him and that changed his mind about ordering. That’s more meal. Yeah. Christopher McDonald who’s been in some other stuff, but that you know, I’m sure in some ways it’s frustrating if you’re in a role like that where you it kind of dominates your personality. Maybe he gets tired of it, maybe wants to be known for something else, but you know, when it comes back, you got you almost have to embrace it, you know? Right. And you know, Adam Sandler, you know, he’s had many characters in many of his movies. Uh, The 51st Date was a a funny one that I’d like to see replayed. And then, uh, The Wedding Singer, of course, that was an interesting one. And of course, Happy Gilmore, I think, was probably his most famous movie out of all of the ones that he’s made. I kind of wonder with um Sandler, you know, he’s got that deal with Netflix. It’s like this 10 movie deal. Um so he’s trying to use his friends, kind of go back to the old formula for Sandler movies. I think Happy Gilmore is the first of those classic Sandlers that uh got a reboot or a sequel. I’m wondering, do you think there’s any other Sandler movies that you want to see a sequel to? Like you said you like 51st Dates. Is there anything else? Maybe it’ll be double 100 first dates the next time. 100 first and uh uh you know the wedding singer could be you know divorce court. Oh yes. Yes. Or or what was the um where you play the student? I can’t remember the name of that now. The student one. Uh you remember that? Yeah. We had girlfriend Madison. Billy Madison. Yeah. Billy Madison. I mean, I’m thinking of the the attorney. Uh yeah, Madison, maybe he’s the owner of the company. Well, yeah. I mean, he became the owner of the company and uh maybe his son is down the hard road and yeah, he’s trying to help his son out, you know? I mean, there’s all kinds of stuff going on. Or and then what’s the one he went he did one with Nicholson. Of course, Jack’s getting kind of old in the year. The anger management that was underrated. I wasn’t sure when I first saw that. I thought it was going to be good or not. I really appreciated anger management. That was a good one. Right. But of course, he may have to have a new co-star and, you know, may maybe we could talk about who would pair up good with, you know, a Jack-like character. Well, who who’s who could play a grumpy old man? I mean, you know, Yeah, that’s true. I mean, Steve Martin is a is a funny guy, but Steve Martin would probably be Grumpy or Martin Short or somebody like that, right? Yeah, that’s true. grumpy old man and you know maybe you can hit him over the head with the golf clubs. Yeah. Or maybe could be me, especially when I’m watching a Guardians game. Who else? Yeah, there you go. I mean, will you be the first podcast person to appear in a major movie? We’ll have to see. Um I I always wonder, and again, you know, our family lives are busy. I mean, it’s not like we have tons of time to watch everything the second comes out. Are you one that’s gonna be looking for it when it first comes out or you gonna try to catch it whenever you see it? Now, this is only Netflix, right? I don’t subscribe, so I’m going to have to borrow a code or something to watch it unless it comes out in the theater or a drive-in that I mean, those Sandler movies were always great drive-in flicks. I may have to see it right away, but talk to my wife with football season coming up. Do we pair down some of our streaming services? And we watch a little bit of Netflix. Not a ton. So, I probably need to watch it before we give it to Right. And as we we talked about last week with with the paper, I mean, these uh streaming things, streaming services almost always have football coverage. So, Netflix, I know, is going back with the NFL on Christmas. So maybe, you know, they can pair that up with another Sandler movie. I don’t know how fast he puts these in again. He could probably do it pretty quick. Who knows? Um Yeah. And you know, let’s be polite. I think Sand would say this, too. We’re not doing aggressive epics with these movies. It’s almost like just a comedy routine with these movies. I mean, they’re good. They’re funny, but you know, uh it is what it is, you know. So, uh looking forward to it. Um yeah, Netflix. Netflix is funny. They’ve got a million different options on Netflix. I There’s nothing that ever sticks out. I mean, it’s nice for Seinfold reruns and everything else. I I don’t know. Um my wife has been into Scandal. I don’t know if you’ve seen this. This was the ABC show from a few years back, right? I remember the show. I haven’t watched it. Um, you know, it’s a lot for the binge watcher, you know, to to go through the seasons like you said with Seinfeld. I I know I use the streaming service to binge watch The Office often, especially in preparation for the paper coming up. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, you got to that. Yeah. Scandals, this Carrie Washington movie. Well, I mean the series she plays this like PR person, but she’s a fixer, too. So, she’s not just trying to get good coverage for her client. I mean, she’s she’s doing some crazy stuff. I mean, some illegal stuff at times. Um, and then she uh has affair with the president. Like, she’s this PR person. It’s kind of wild stuff. So, is that Carrie Washington? Yes. I I believe right. I believe Trisha has watched that, haven’t you? scandal. It was on It was on Netflix, right? Yeah. Yeah. ABC show. I’m not sure if it’s still on or not, but uh they got the series on Netflix. Kind of interesting. Like I said, a little uh how do you say it? It It’s a long series to get through. It has to be a choice. Um but I don’t know. Very interesting. And and there was there was a murder plot in it, right? Somebody ended up getting killed. Here’s the problem. My wife and I turn these on as we’re going to sleep. So, you know, it depends if it stays. I know that. Well, I’ve DVR series and fallen asleep and then I had to keep watching it three or four times to get through it. Yeah. And we’re always like, “Oh, where did we fall asleep?” And it gets kind of a little frustrating at times. So, that’s the hard thing about watching TV. Um, anything else you’d recommend we watch? I think this is our only TV segment. Uh you’re probably just watching baseball right now, right? Right. Yes. Uh on on summer nights, it’s mostly baseball, especially, you know, on my phone, I have the MLB package, so independent races, it’s, you know, vital to always catch the endings to the games. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. Well, definitely check that out. All right. Well, um, yeah, let us know what you think about Happy Gilmore 2. Looking forward to watching it. Uh, I’ll have to give you my review next week. I should check out sometime over the weekend. Uh, any of our viewers to our viewers, we should ask what Adam Sandler reboot you want to watch on the on Netflix. Yeah. Yeah. What’s your favorite Adam Sandler? Which one would you want to bring back? Yeah, that’s very good. And then, you know, we talked a lot of retro stuff here. I mean, the Naked Gun movie is coming out in August. Um, yeah. Which one of those are you excited to watch? So, as always, thanks for checking us out. Give us a like and subscribe. Have a great day. Have a good one.
