Aldrich Potgieter wins 2025 Rocket Classic on 5th playoff hole in Detroit
Aldrich Potgieter, a 20-year-old South African, earned his first PGA Tour victory with a birdie on par-3 15th hole at Detroit Golf Club, June 29, 2025.
Golfweek released its annual list of 100 best public golf courses on Monday, June 30, and the state of Michigan is well represented.
Just as it was in 2024, Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California, was named the No. 1 public golf course in the country. That was followed by Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon, and Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Those three courses mirrored the top three of Golfweek’s 2024 list.
As for the Michigan courses, the list features the seven courses, one more than the six that were featured in 2024.
Here are the seven Michigan public golf courses that made the top-100:
Arcadia Bluffs (Bluffs), Arcadia (No. 32)
Arcadia Bluffs ranked No. 31 in the 2024 list and fell just one spot on the 2025 list.
Average rating: 7.17.
Location: Arcadia.
Marquette Golf Club (Greywalls), Marquette (No. 46)
Greywalls at Marquette Golf Club fell six spots, down from No. 40 on the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.94.
Location: Marquette.
Forest Dunes (The Loop Red & Black), Roscommon (No. 50)
Smack-dab in the middle of the list is The Loop Red & Black at Forest Dunes, down three spots from its No. 47 ranking in 2024.
Average rating: 6.91.
Location: Roscommon.
Forest Dunes (Weiskopf), Roscommon (No. 78)
Speaking of Forest Dunes, its Weiskopf course dropped 10 spots from the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.65.
Location: Roscommon.
Arcadia Bluffs (South), Arcadia (No. 84)
The South course at Arcadia Bluffs moved up three spots from No. 87 on the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.63.
Location: Arcadia.
Belvedere, Charlevoix (No. 99)
Tied for the final spot on the list is Belvedere, which was ranked at No. 94 in the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.57.
Location: Charlevoix.
Note: This article originally said that only six Michigan courses had made the list, but neglected to mention the Arcadia Bluffs (South) course, which came in tied at No. 84.
