Callaway Golf Co. is building a 3D printing facility in Fort Worth, a move the equipment maker describes as a step toward \u201ca new era of golf club innovation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
3D printing, which is already being used to some extent for golf clubs, allows for more complex and customized designs than traditional manufacturing techniques. Callaway, one of the world\u2019s largest golf brands, is investing $15 million in its new Tarrant County facility, the company announced Friday, and expects it to be operating by mid-2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe 3D printing represents one of the most significant opportunities to advance golf club performance in decades,\u201d Chip Brewer, the company\u2019s president and CEO, said in a release, \u201cand we\u2019re investing to lead that future.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s new manufacturing facility is in AllianceTexas, the sprawling mixed-use and industrial hub that stretches across Denton and Tarrant counties. Callaway\u2019s North America Distribution Center, a nearly 800,000-square-foot warehouse operation, is also located at the site.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Callaway\u00a0has been producing custom club models and prototypes internally for several years, according to a release, which has allowed the company to develop titanium 3D printing expertise. The company expects its new facility to begin producing custom titanium models in 2028. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The golf giant is based in Carlsbad, Calif., and early this year completed a majority sale of Topgolf, the popular Dallas-based driving range chain, to\u00a0 Leonard Green & Partners, a Los Angeles private equity firm.
