Scottie Scheffler has opened up on his Presidents Cup exchange with Tom Kim two years ago.<\/p>\n

The world No. 1 and Kim are neighbors in Dallas, but put their friendship to one side in the fiery international competition.<\/p>\n

Team USA talisman Scheffler was paired with Russell Henley against his pal and fellow Korean SungJae Im.<\/p>\n

On the seventh hole Kim drained a birdie from around 30 feet, yelled, pumped his fist, and spun a 360 on the green before going to get his ball.<\/p>\n

Scheffler coolly slotted home from a similar distance to halve the hole before turning to Kim and asking: ‘What was that?’<\/p>\n

The American spoke about the showdown in the buildup to the current edition on home soil.<\/p>\n

“That was actually funny because Tom and I, we’re really good buddies and I was excited to get out there and play with him and we were gonna have a lot of fun,” he said. “It was the same thing I’d have done at home if we were playing a wolf match or something.”<\/p>\n

Scheffler was laughing as he spoke but managed to get a not so subtle dig dig ahead of this week’s renewal of the matches at Medinah.<\/p>\n

“He holed like a 20-25 footer,” he continued. “I think it might have been his first birdie putt of the day.<\/p>\n

“He was celebrating like he’d just won the tournament.<\/p>\n

“You knock one in on him and you’re like, ‘Alright, let’s chill out a little bit.'”<\/p>\n

Kim will once again be looking to fire up the International team in 2026 — akin to Ian Poulter’s Ryder Cup role for Team Europe.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing to be a little bit different than the last one obviously playing on U.S. soil,\u201d Kim he said Tuesday at Medinah. \u201cSure we’re going to hear a lot of boos.”<\/p>\n

Scheffler has never failed to be on the winning team at the Presidents Cup despite losing two of three Ryder Cup appearances.<\/p>\n

The US have won all but two editions since 1994 and his run looks set to continue unless Kim can thrive in the joker role.<\/p>\n

Brandt Snedeker will lead his country, but Rocco Mediate thinks changes need to be made.<\/p>\n

“We keep having the same captains, same ones. Find someone else, do something else, change it up. But they\u2019re not gonna,” the six-time PGA Tour winner told golf.com last weekend.<\/p>\n

“Love Jim Furyk, love the guys, love them – but change something up. Same assistant captain.
