Significant movement on the leaderboard at the Genesis Scottish Open today. Last night there was a five-way tie at the top. By 11.30 there was one.<\/p>\n
English professional, Jordan Smith, currently 82nd on the PGA Tour world ranking, played some superb golf in benign conditions to take over at the top on his own.<\/p>\n
He was nine-under at the 14th after teeing-off at the tenth at 07.44 in a pairing which also include American professional, Harris English, and Canadian player, Nick Taylor.<\/p>\n
Smith (Bowood) teed-off after a first-round score of 68, that\u2019s two-under-the par here at The Renaissance Club near North Berwick.<\/p>\n
He had moved three clear of the field with Danny Willett, an English professional attached to The Belfry, joint second at the 15th, on six-under overall. He ted-off at 07.22.<\/p>\n
Alongside him were Guido Miglozzi from Italy and Matt Fitzpatrick from England and attached to the Bears Club, with Darius Van Driel of The Netherlands, who was in the first group to tee-up on the tenth this morning, Ricky Castillo (USA), who was in the same group, and Kirkcady-born Callum Hill, who is attached to The Gleneagles Hotel and is a former pupil of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, four back. He carded a 67, three shots below par, in the first round.<\/p>\n
