A Beaumont golfer ended the summer schedule with a tournament championship this past weekend before starting his\u00a0senior season at Kelly Catholic High School.<\/p>\n
Reece Williams won the boys 15-18 division at the Southern Texas PGA\u00a0Srixon Prestige Tour\u2019s Vortech Contracting H-Town Showdown. Williams won the two-day tournament at Quail Valley Golf Club in Missouri City by shooting rounds of 70 and 71, finishing 1-under par.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a good way to finish the summer,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI had a couple of tough holes late in the final round, but I was able to stay patient. The birdie on 17 was important, and I was pleased with how I handled the last few holes. Those are the moments you live for.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victory marked Williams\u2019 first in the 15-18 age group on the\u00a0STPGA Srixon Prestige Tour. It earned him an exemption into the 2026 Texas Junior Golf Alliance Invitational on the Legends Junior Tour.<\/p>\n
Williams now starts preparing for his senior season at Kelly Catholic High School.\u00a0As a junior, Williams earned TAPPS 5A All-State honors and led the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at the TAPPS 5A State Championship.<\/p>\n
Williams’ next competition will be this week at the Bart Granger Memorial in Fort Worth, a 54-hole tournament featuring more than 50 teams and one of the largest high school golf events in the country.
