I was one of the first tee times out for my local course. After finishing the front nine in like an hour, I come to this. They generally start people out on both the front and back nine because they sell 9 and 18 hole rounds. So the flow can get pretty messed up. I ended up getting a rain check to play another day. I'm not too mad because it's by far the cheapest course around.

  1. You played too fast for the tee sheet to work.

For various reasons sometimes my course will send people out on 1 and 10, and if you finish your first nine in under 2 hours you get to wait for people to start their rounds after you make the turn.

Rain check is the move, especially if you know that this is normal for the course.

What an infuriating feeling after being the first tee time.

Sometimes this happens to me but it evens out. 1 hour front (if I’m solo and carting), then a 2.5 hour back. Still a quick round.

  4. This happens at every course I play at during the summer, but its on the front and the back bc the nicest courses are run by greedy fckers who do 9 min tee times and then refuse to have a starter on the course.

People talking about playing too fast and shit.

Bull. This is 99% the course overbooking and then sending people to start on #10 as well as #1

  6. Aggressive-Debate640

Sending people off the back is an atrocity.

This doesn’t make sense to me. I get front 9 start but sending all the 9hole only guys out on the back to get the flow going put you mean to tell me they’re sending 18s out on the back 9 while they know there are groups coming around the turn?

  8. We play at a course with 3 9-hole tracks. They start on course “#2” at daybreak, and stop tee times at 9:30, with the back nine on “#3” (which is in terrible shape, so we hate the 2/3 18). They start them off “#1” at 7:30, allowing 2 hours for the front before finishing on #2. So, if you play the first nine in less than 2 hours, you have to wait at the turn until the 9:30 group tees off. So stupid.

Saw carts stacked up at a tee box at a lower-level muni in Greensboro, NC at 8:00pm last night. The game is not well.

Courses around these parts only sell 9 hole tee times going off on the back 9 during the first hour or so of the day as to not run into problems like this… I would be pretty upset. Good call on the rain check

Looks like amazing condition for a cheap course, must be why it’s so popular

The course expects people to play in 2 hours. Not an hour. The course here isn’t at fault, OP just played too fast and caught the 9 hole tee times going off the back 9 before that block of times was done. Sounds like he knew this was standard practice and somehow expected a different outcome playing faster than the course plans for.

Walk straight past them and tee it up! You surely have right of way!?!

Fox Hollow in Colorado does this same garbage. Got around the Canyons in 1:30. Hit the Meadows and took 3 hours to finish due to waiting 30 min at the turn then having to wait every shot.

Beautiful course but the management team is hot garbage.

  15. OG_FL_Man

Rookie mistake. You can’t play fast during a crossover. You have to take at least two hours for your front 9.

At least you got a rain check. This happened to me a couple weeks ago and my friend and I just had to eat it. Same as you, we were the first ones out at 5:15. Very frustrating.

  17. One of the worst management decisions that can be made at a course. I would not go back, did you get an 18 hole raincheck? Used to play a 27 hole course and this could happen sometimes.

This is the exact reason I joined a private course. I can go play whenever I want by myself and be done in like 3 hours tops

You played the first nine in an hour… you’re going too fast. Wtf
