you know I’m always on the hunt for those hidden gems the direct to consumer brands that punch way above their weight class we see it all the time with irons but let’s be real the driver that’s where most of these direct to consumer brands stumble but I just got my hands on the new Sub70 859 driver their 2025 release and after 3 years in the making this thing looks incredible let’s dive into the tech the 859 features a carbon fiber crown with these aerodynamic wings on top but the real magic is in its deep super convex face featuring what they call axis of rotation technology sub70 claims this boosts forgiveness and MOI and in my oncourse testing it was eye opening while the distance was solid maybe not the longest drive I’ve ever hit the forgiveness was off the charts my dispersion was incredibly tight even on mits heel toe low on the face this driver just wanted to find the fairway and this thing is a shot shaper’s dream fades draws low stingers high bombs it responded beautifully maybe the most workable driver I’ve tested this year now for a subjective critique it’s the sound it’s higher pitched than my personal preference also I thought the initial ball flight seemed to crest a bit too quickly potentially sacrificing a few yards of peak carry for me and at 399 with this level of forgiveness incredible workability and solid distance I think the sub7859 is an absolute beast it’s hands down one of the best performing DTC drivers I’ve ever tested now if you want to continue down the direct to consumer rabbit hole with us I’m testing all of the underrated brands here on Let’s Play Through make sure to give us a follow
