Keegan Bradley Swing Breakdown | GolfPass

let’s take a look at the wonderful driver swing of Keegan Bradley a couple of interesting matchups here you can see I’ve sketched a silhouette around his body and there’s going to be three things to get from this video behind behind and up what am I talking about keegan Bradley one of the best drivers look how he moves away from the ball look how he moves behind it he’s coiling into his right leg the ball’s not that far forward but he is going to hit up at it and he does it because he gets behind probably at some point one of his early teachers Jim Mlan told him to get his lead shoulder over his trail foot and I think he’s stayed with him since then so he gets behind it extremely well now watch this as he shifts and rotates he stays behind it and so when he gets to impact there is no doubt that he’s further behind the ball than he was at rest that’s how he gets away with that forward ball position you can see there just how much side bend as we call it these days that he has how much tilt in the body he has how much his right shoulder is working down and under the chin golf is an underarm game to great degree it’s as if he took that to the top and he took his trail hand and he was tossing a ball mainly underarm slightly sidearm but mainly mainly underarm so he gets behind he stays behind he’s got an underarm toss look at that some people would say the reverse C is badly good job that Keegan Bradley hasn’t heard that’s a bad move to make now last thing I want to talk about here very important you can watch again i’ll put one line in he gets behind it he stays behind it now this is a really important point i’m going to put a line across his belts and let’s say that’s about level to the ground look look look what happens here look how he stretches his body look at that belt buckle how much that’s moved up from the middle of his down swing look at that lead leg pushing against the ground going from flexed to straight so the message here golfers if you want to drive it a bit more like Keegan Bradley get behind stay behind and then straighten that left leg and hit up get behind stay behind and then buckle up and I want you to try that because you just never know it might help you play better

  1. Another great video analysis, Martin.
Good point showing how his lower body moves upward when his lead arm is just past parallel on the downswing. But, also notice how his head does not raise. Rory does the same thing; he extends upward with his lower body yet his head does not. Except for just a few pro golfers, just about all of them keep their head at the same level while the lower body is standing.
