Nelly Korda has been one of the most dominant forces on the LPGA Tour over the past few years.

Standing at 5ft 10in tall, Korda is an incredible athlete, and her overall game is the blueprint for any young female golfer hoping to make it on the LPGA Tour.

The 26-year-old is incredibly long off the tee, and her iron play is pinpoint accurate. Her putting does let her down at times though.

And Korda has changed her putter on numerous occasions this season.

When she gets that club figured out, she will undoubtedly start winning again.

This is a player who has 15 LPGA Tour wins, including five in a row in 2024, and two major championships to her name remember!

Korda has suffered with niggling injuries this season, so she hasn’t quite been at her best.

When she is fully healthy though, she will undoubtedly return to the levels we all saw her reach last year.

What would happen if Nelly Korda played against the best male amateurs

Sam Riggs Bozoian of Barstool Sports has created a series whereby he takes on some of his fiercest critics in one on one matches filmed for YouTube.

And Jenny Shin, world number 75, believes that’s something that should happen with male golfers who criticize the LPGA Tour.

She said: “It’s brilliant what Barstool Riggs is doing. Some of us LPGA golfers need a haters series where we play against the amateur male golfers that look down on female LPGA pros.

“I play a lot of golf outside of tournament golf. I genuinely love playing golf with amateurs because it’s a great way to connect with people outside of my profession. I play with a lot of money games with players between 15hcp to +4. Moment I take them to a place outside their comfort zone, they lose their mentality and their confidence. Put them in front of a camera where they’ll be criticized, it’s another dimension.

“First of all, I don’t think someone of Nelly’s caliber (popularity) would agree to do this. And I can guarantee she would beat every single amateur golfer no matter their handicap. Her aura and being in front of a camera alone would add 5 shots to their handicap. She actually hits it 280-300 off the tee, but straight.

“If my idea actually went through, can’t imagine how many fake haters would be created to play golf with someone like Charley or Nelly lol.“

That last line from Shin is so true. The applicants may not all be ‘haters’ of women’s golf!

However, one thing that is slightly contentious about Shin’s claim is that the best male amateur golfers in the world are on a different level to scratch handicap club golfers.

Perhaps Shin was referring to exactly that, meaning low handicap club golfers, rather than competitive players looking to make it in the professional game in the future.

Nelly Korda on what she thought about the men’s behaviour at the US Open

Korda watched the men’s US Open at Oakmont as a fan.

And when speaking on the Dan on Golf Podcast recently, she spoke about some of her male counterparts losing their cool at Oakmont.

“I think to see the guys struggle like that, even the best players in the world struggle, and to see even the outbursts that some of them had because they were so mentally over it, I think was really fun.“

It was fun to see the best golfers in the world struggle around Oakmont a couple of weeks back.

However, it’s worth pointing out that professional golfers losing their cool on live television is becoming more and more prevalent, and it really isn’t a great look.

It is certainly a bad example for young children who are just starting out in the game.

On the other side of that coin, Korda is probably the best role model you could find for young children. She is an absolute star in every sense of the word.

And her fellow LPGA Tour pro Jenny Shin clearly agrees with that notion.
