guys this is the genius orange box that everyone needs in their golf bag i don’t often say this but the strike wedge is unbelievable it is genius you can work on so many different things and if anybody knows me or has had lessons from me I am a big fan of anything that fits in your golf bag so we’re going to cover five things that this is going to help with from driver to short game to centeredness of strike if you swing over the top there’s so many different things that we can do with this little cool tool so let’s show you how and why you need one of these guys in your golf bag so in this little cool box it comes with the instructions it comes with the strike wedge itself and what they call walls so you’ve got two different walls there’s also a measurement on the back the instructions tell you based on what club you’re using where you’re going to have to put this so let’s get straight into it so why not start with the big dog we all get excited by the possibility of hitting the ball longer so what we can do with this strike wedge obviously for more distance we need a positive angle of attack we need that club head to be traveling up as it comes through the ball don’t want to be negative because the result is going to be negative you’ll probably hit the strike wedge and you’ll probably lose distance so we’ve got that visual strike wedge goes this way the front part protrudes it really sort of sticks up there and essentially what we’re trying to do is swing up the strike wedge it gives us that visual of where the club head should be traveling we should feel that the left shoulder moves up we should feel that the head stays back those are two things that get you that upward angle of attack so we’ve got this about a club head and a half in front of the golf ball let’s miss that strike wedge swing up hit up let’s get some more distance oh that’s lovely so really really good tool so also if you want to hit high draws there’s a slight tweak which I’m going to give all credit to Steve Johnston so check out his channel actually very very good Steve Johnston Golf on YouTube and essentially if we want to try and draw the ball what we can do is we can turn this strike wedge slightly to the right so rather than 12 we stick it at 1:00 lovely high draws we’re still going to have the club face facing the target but now that we’ve got the strike wedge facing slightly to the right that’s going to give us the visual of where the path needs to be so we’re still swinging up we’re still hitting bombs we’re still gaining distance but what we’re also going to do is we’re going to swing slightly more to the right over this strike wedge and if we get the pass from in to out which this is going to help us do and if we get the face slightly close to that high draws bombed drives happy golfers so slightly to the right with the strike wedge we’re going to miss that strike wedge we’re going to swing more to the right and less to the left let’s see if we can hit a lovely lovely soft draw so there you go high bomb drives cannot complain anytime you’re hitting the ball longer or hitting baby draws so the next one is about centeredness of strike trying to hit the middle of the club face more if you are hitting off the toe hitting off the heel this next part is going to really help you out so here’s how the strike wedge makes a huge difference to strike both centeredness of strike hit in the middle and low point catching ball first ground second so three drills with this that are phenomenal if you struggle hitting off the toe that means the club head is traveling towards you too much and that’s where this strike wedge can kick in basically grab the ball place it on the edge of the wedge this also is a way to set it up for shanks also it creates a nice little barrier where we’re going to place that golf ball just in front so if the club head does move in we’ve got this obstacle we’ve got this strike wedge that we are trying to avoid likewise if you hit a shank we put the golf ball down we have the strike wedge directly in front and again we’re going to try and avoid that strike wedge shankers would get the club head moving out this way too much so we are going to try and keep that inside the wedge strike the ball and avoid this awesome gadget so if you’re a toe striker we’re going to place a little wall with a measurement on it just inside the golf ball and what we are going to do is bring that reasonably close and if you’re someone who hits the toe a lot essentially what you’re doing is you’re moving the club head toward you in some sort of fashion this will stop you doing that a lot of people do it when they stand up the handle a lot of people do it when they stand up out of posture move back pull the arms in all the bad stuff we don’t want so we place this lovely little strike wedge just inside the golf ball and just try and avoid it it’s a little bit of an obstacle should hopefully get you moving in the right way to move the strike towards the middle so we’ll pop that down i’m definitely in that category of toe strikes flushed it right out the middle that felt pretty good so opposite to that if you’re someone who struggles with heel strikes and shanks we can just use this in reverse so dead simple let’s just pop that round the other side let’s make it a little bit more difficult so to the point where the toe of the club is almost against that wedge and again if you’re someone who shanks a ball what would tend to happen is as you’re swinging down the club head is moving out too much it’s moving this way too much in that case that would hit the strike wedge so we need again to move in a fashion that’s going to hit the middle of the face more the club head stays in closer to you you’re going to try and strike it out the middle to even slightly off the toe wouldn’t be bad practice here and again just pop that down you’ve got that little obstacle there equally if you come over the top you would hit it so it’s a good one for anyone swinging out to in and over the top miss that strike wedge this will really help you find the middle of the face even more which then moves us on to the single most important thing that differentiates really really good golfers to possibly the worst golfer at your golf club low point control where do you bottom out in the arc do you hit ball first ground second or do you get to the bottom of the swing before the ball chunk it thin it all the bad stuff that is normally the main skill that differentiates really good players and really bad players so with this strike wedge the instructions tell us to put the strike wedge 5 in behind the ball so 5 in we’ve also got the little wall which is a dream makes it nice and easy so pop that down 5 in behind pop this strike wedge down nice and easy pop that to the side so now we’ve got a simple wedge we’re going to try and collect ball first ground second the beauty of this gives you instant feedback it helps you move in the way that you should do to strike the ball get rid of those fats and thins which should encourage us to move left to get good strikes so we’ve got that lateral movement that weight transfer that we need in order to strike the ball well equally we can’t release the club far too early and scoop and flip at it again we’re going to hit that strike wedge so great feedback take it on the course take it to the practice area take it to the range really good visual of how that club head should be approaching the golf ball so let’s give that a try 5 in behind we have seven iron let’s see if we can collect ball first ground second lovely it helps you with weight transfer it helps you holding your angles and you don’t throw the club too early and it helps you get precisely that the ball first the divot second which if anyone can improve this you will dramatically improve your golf and this is probably one of the best drills that you can do with strike wedge the cool thing about it it’s slightly different with every club but that’s why you’ve got the instructions different distances behind the ball for different clubs and you’ve got that with you in that little orange box and finally let me show you how this little orange box this orange tool genius can help you with your short game so fats and thins are what people struggle with the most generally round about the greens so what we can do is go back to the instructions again place this just behind the golf ball and generally what we find is anyone who struggles with chip shots and pitch shot are actually quite often swinging too flat what do I mean by too flat they’re the plane in their down swing moves in and around it’s too flat so anytime we’re in heavy rough anytime we’re in tricky lies where you need a a steep enough angle of attack that you’re going to collect ball first it can start to get quite tricky so what’s great about the strike wedge two things we can use this for obviously we can use this as an obstacle to miss strike ball first get ground second but also it’s a really good guide and visual of where the club head should travel we almost want it to travel up the wedge we want it to travel back down the wedge visually we don’t want to see it coming too far on the inside and we don’t want it to attack the ball too far from the inside so we’re using this wedge for two things one to miss it that’s going to help get the weight left move the right way that we need to to strike this but also up down so let’s do that so we’re going to go up and down ball first there so this is just a stock chip shot balls back in the stance weights left up down ball first again and just to give you an example of what golfers would generally struggle with from here so just to give you an example of what golfers would struggle from here they would tend to swing too far in too flat low point reaches before the ball if they’re using something like the strike wedge they’re going to smack the strike wedge if the strike wedge isn’t there they’re going to catch it fat or they’re going to catch it thin so that’s that lovely little nipper here ball first ground second miss the wedge up and down let’s go for another one ball back this is so addictive ball first ground second up down caught the ball lovely strike so as I said absolutely fantastic tool this little orange box in my opinion should be in every single person’s golf bag i like anything that can fit in a golf bag you can use it on the course the range the practice area wherever it may be and there’s so many uses there’s not one single person that can’t benefit from having one of these in the bag so check out the description link if you’d like an automatic 10% discount just click the 1. Looks like. Great training aid Callum. Looking forward to trying it out @ my next lesson. Have been looking at this recently 😉👍

  2. Thanks Raymund!! 🙌 definitely will be using this in the next lesson 💪🏻 guaranteed to beat Jim by 5 shots after using this 😂

  3. You could just get a $2 door wedge from the hardware store instead, but hey ….even a headcover would do the trick.
