hey cats it’s your midsole man here Ed Bud a collection of the most interesting running related news stories for you we’ll be taking a closer look at the 55 mm stacked Vimeo Premium from Nike a potential sneak peek at the Pexus 42 as well from the swoosh and a new shoe that’s sneaked in under the radar the Magnify Nitro 3 from Puma lots to get through oh yeah I forgot I didn’t get into London by the way and you probably didn’t either lots to get through let’s get to it [Music] thanks for joining me on the running news today it’s always appreciated hit that subscribe button and give this video a thumbs up like drop us a comment as well to help with that YouTube algorithm danka first story up today is from Nike we finally got some firmer details about what appears to be an exceptionally cushioned shoe the Vomero Premium this is their top-of-the-line model in the Vomero collection the shoe’s going to come in with a whopping 55 millimeters of heel stack so that’s 2.1 in it’s hard to fathom you know if you thought the Prime X from Adidas was big then this thing’s going to be even bigger that’s the sample size as well imagine this in a UK 11 or a US size 12 that’s the shoe size I normally take i’m probably going to be in the region of 58 to 59 mm of stack i mean I’m tall enough already guys i have to like duck when I go through certain like door frames and stuff i mean if I’m going to review this I’m going to have to wear a Union Jack dress right 45 mm in the forefoot and a 10m drop i can see how a compressive cushion could be useful in a running shoe but I think that any significant bulk that we have here will like outweigh the propulsive advantage that you might get from all of this it’s a little bit like the Pegasus Premium that shoe is very comfortable on foot but I’m not sure that it was the greatest running shoe of all time looks like we have dual air zoom units here they’re shaped the same way that they are in some of Nike’s running spikes heaven knows how much it’ll cost i think this one’s set to drop around October time so it’s a fair way off yet the Vomero Plus though is also set to be released that’s a full Zummex shoe similar to the Vomero 18 in terms of the styling but with a slightly higher price tag than the standard version i believe this one is being launched to take over from the very popular Invincible Run series i reckon it’ll probably come in around about 165 170 quid it’s a bit of a weird one really i know people do like the Invincible Run but Nike just kind of messed up the materials in the upper it wasn’t the best in the last version this one’s supposed to be wider more of a rocker there in the heel but other brands have been doing that for ages why is it taking Nike so long to come up with this at a higher price i mean the massive stack on that Vomero Premium is either going to excite you or it’s going to scare you off but you’ll have time to let those feelings simmer on the hob as it’s not coming out for ages moving on to another swoosh related story i saw some images of what people reckon is an extended carbon plate as per the FastStar Nitro Elite 3 in the Alphaly 4 prototypes i mean the Fastar Nitro Elite 2 was an exhilarating shoe it was certainly helpful going up hills with that longer plate that sticks out and juts from the front i mean make of these images what you will it might just be you know the way the camera’s angled or something but some people are suggesting that Nike are hopping on board that bandwagon having that plate protrude out the front of the shoe extending the length of it a little bit to get that same feel out of their new Alphal have Pummer really got Nike on the run that much that they’re now going to copy other ideas let’s not forget that Nike have been very very quick off the bat to sue and take legal action against other manufacturers that have used anything that even closely resembles their ideas and designs i think that that plate is only part of the Puma’s advantage though i think it is a little bit down to the ATPU foam in the midsole and the fact that they’ve carved away loads of it and then you can add the plate in as another factor simply the lightness of that shoe really does make it what it is i mean the Alphaly 3 is lighter than all the other versions of it so far but it’s still significantly heavier than the Fastar Nitro Elite 3 but unless we know more about it it’s just speculation right now they’ll probably refine and develop that shoe even further next up a sneaky peek at what could be the Pegasus 42 this is a very early kind of design mockup here no surprises here what appears to be a Zoom Air unit certainly in the heel there i wonder if it will stretch the whole length of the midsole this time kind of returning to the Pegasus 35 36 era that was quite a versatile shoe at the time i’m not entirely sure I’d say that about it now though the Pegasus has just become quite a bulky kind of almost like a gym shoe though I guess over the last few years medial side of the design image here seems to look more like the midsole sculpting that we found in the Vomero 16 from a few years back i think the issue with the Pegasus is one of stale materials and implementation it’s just been the same design for so long now that I think people have just got a bit bored of it all the other competing brands have got better lighter you know more cushion shoes sometimes at a much lower price i mean who’s going to buy a Pegasus when you can buy the Evo SL from Adidas right i think Nike run the risk and there’s no pun intended there of completely falling off with this if it’s the same old design there’s loads of colorways of the 41 sat around in outlet stores right now i think people just really want the Pegasus to include a little bit of ZoomX or something else in there somewhere just to jazz it up just to refine it a bit more maybe a puck of that foam you know under the forefoot maybe a larger air unit in the heel to really provide some cushion but the issue there is that air units are quite heavy you’ve got to glue them in you know despite the efforts to even lessen the weight of the Alphaly 3 there’s only so light you can make it i think brands like AS6 and Pummer with their Meta Speed and Fast models are really at the cutting edge of design right now the swoosh seems more interested in like Travis Scott collaborations i mean what were the design team thinking during the lockdown there was some really bizarre decisions there from Nike anyway I don’t think we’re going to see this Pegasus 42 model anytime soon my bet would be 2026 there’s just too many Pegasus 41s to shift right now london Marathon did you get in i got the classic rejection email i think that’s like 8 years now it’s just a simple random draw by the looks of it which of course the more and more people that enter the less and less chance you got i’m going to head to Brighton instead to go and do the marathon there in April i’ve got some unfinished business and I want to take care of that so if you’re aiming for Brighton I will see you there london’s super popular and I can understand why i had a blast at Manchester though this year and never once felt like I was being crushed like a sardine i didn’t have to go on the tube i went on a tram and that was much more civilized so I can heartily recommend the city and the course if you didn’t get into London a quick bit of news about a release that slipped in under the radar it’s from Puna it’s the Magnify Nitro 3 so you’ve got a new redesigned upper there a massive 25 g weight drop over the V2 as well means that this shoe from Puma is no doubt going to spark the interest of a few runners a max 40 mm cushion shoe that you can use on a more daily basis perhaps without a fear of durability or damage to the midsole foam so the information I’ve got here suggests that this midsole is actually a little bit different to what we’ve had before it’s not just standard Nitro stuff it’s a pea based blend and closer to what we had in the DV8 Nitro Elite 2 so a little bit more compressive a little faster to return to form but I know from years of testing the Puma shoes that just cuz it says Nitro on it that doesn’t really mean anything it could be a very specific formula it does seem like they switch up the blend depending on what they want from the shoe so it’s never going to be like a single density or durometer score 129 quid on this in the UK i think it’s a bit of a steal this model will really put pressure on the likes of the Ghost or Ghost Max from Brooks or the Vomero 18 and the Pegasus models for those after a bit of stack without the weight which tends to come with that type of shoe i think the knit light upper will certainly win over a few folks if you like the last one I think you’re going to like this it’s just even lighter and a standard lacing system it’s another box ticked really if you’re searching for a dependable daily shoe bit of a strange thing though the lack of the fanfare on this model it just suddenly appeared in a few of the retail sites with no sort of advertising it’s been no reviews or anything for it especially considering the recent visibility of Puma all across the internet and on TV you couldn’t escape some of their adverts sometimes okay that’s all the running news for this week if there’s any cool stories that you’ve seen let me know on the email in the description of this video quick musical interlude for you i’ve been checking out the new album from Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts it’s called Talking to the Trees love the end track on this one it’s called Thankful beautiful gentle magical tune reminds me a little bit of his track Harvest Moon it’s got those vibes but really delicate vocal there as well neil Young kind of looking back on his life and where he is right now and being thankful for all of it i would assume though that he’s going to crank up the volume a little bit at his Glastenbury performance so I’m going to be tuning in for that on Saturday evening hoping for a incendury performance of like a hurricane and also crowdleaser Keep on Rocking in the Free World go and check this one out though if you’re looking for something for a quiet afternoon you want some calm and peace neil Young with Talking to the Trees thanks for tuning in people hope you enjoy today’s video hit that subscribe button it really does help out we’re slowly getting there i want to hit 100,000 so I can get one of those cool plaques you know that everybody puts up i really want one of those that’ll be cool i put a lot of effort time hours and energy I guess into the channel and if you are a viewer and you haven’t subscribed yet it would help me to get there all right also give this video a thumbs up like and drop a comment for the algorithm my name’s Ed Bud and I’ll be seeing you

  1. get into London ha ha ha no I didn't for the 5th time in ballot,im a runner this is what I do regularly but people who get in don't run often and most are just one time hits like goyte or celebs its broken just like Britain lol

  2. well I am curious about the magnify nitro 3 it has 100% peba now and the velocity nitro 4 is all nitro, could be peba too, so carrier foam. I think the magnify for US mens size 9 is now 9.1oz and the velocity is down to 8.8 from what I have seen

  3. I’m glad Puma in Magnify 3 took away that annoying cat figurine from the toe box area and moved it towards the center of a shoe where it looks much better. I personally find that cat figurine looks very ugly near toe box area. Hopefully Puma will do the same in all newer models.

  4. Not even going to lie I looked at Vomero Premium and am considering it as my work shoe that I can go take for a run after

  5. Nike out here still claiming they're the kings of shoe innovation while they take ideas from Puma and their big idea for the super mega trainer (that they said is really just targeted at easy running) is "insert air zoom" like all the other times. Also yeah, super weird that Puma is still pushing the Deviate Nitro 3 after almost a year but no mention of their new release

  6. Vomero Plus is flashing big on the radar. However, it all depends on the price. Especially with the new Asics Blast models to be released. The Vomero Premium is probably not one for me. A bit too high. I reckon it will weigh quite a bit. However, like the Pegasus Premium it will sell out quickly.

  7. Vomero Premium, I want one where the midsole glows like shown on the pictures for sure. Some integrated LEDs. 😉

  8. Pegasus will always be a classic daily trainer. No need for super foams or anything crazy. May be boring but gets the job done. Glad Nike continues to stick to it. It’s a fantastic shoe for those looking for something simple

  9. Nike takes so long because thwy dont have to do anything fast. People just mindlessly throw their money at them regardless.

  10. Same goes for Mizuno Wave Sky 9 . One of my favorite running sites had 25% discount on the entire site and I Saw this new Max snack shoe 44/38 mm in sample size. Had to buy it, no reviews on it and listed as brand new

  11. Didn't get into London. They need to expand the Good for Age times for Americans. Can you imagine if we said y'all couldn't run Boston?

  12. The only thing I didn't like about the AF3 was it felt clunky going up long sustained hills. If they are indeed working in an extended plate in the AF4 with the DNA of the AF3…I'd be extremely interested. The Fast-R3 just seems like too much shoe for me at the full marathon. Which makes it hard for me to pull the trigger on for a shoe that maxes out at the half (for me).
I'm still hoping they have a Tempo Next%2 in the DEV pipeline using a full mid/forefoot air unit…

  13. If Adidas and Puma sorted out their fit to be more accommodating they would absolutely clean up. I suspect that is what is keeping a lot of people using Nike.

  14. Comment for the algorithm! I can see a lot of other locations such as Brighton and Manchester booming if London keeps being oversubscribed. It's fascinating as a non-Brit to see.

Will look a little further into Magnify!

  15. Very interesting AF4 images, bring on the Puma law suit!! No chance at London again, so I'm off to Barcelona in March, enjoy the Brighton block Ed

  16. Nike working for the short people! That stack is ridiculous, just stop. IT would be great for people 6ft 7 and 300lbs though.

  17. 100 UV protection sunscreen and vomero
Premium so i can look like a member of Kiss while running
