This isn’t about your score anymore. This ball has taken a journey of its own. How many shots can one pro v1 possibly take?

I was worried about the same thing recently so did some internet research – not sure it’s worth much tbh, but this is what I found. So long as the cover of the ball is in reasonable condition, you won’t see a performance dip until about 10 rounds (180 holes). I usually get to about 5 rounds with a ball before I lose it and haven’t noticed a performance decrease, i’ll play with a ball that’s been scuffed up from cart path hits, thinning it in bunkers, tree strikes, etc, and never had an issue.
I’m an 8 handicap for what it’s worth, so while I’m good enough to keep a ball for a while, I don’t know that I’m good enough to tell good/bad performance out of a ball so take the above with a grain of salt
Gotta keep it going. If you get to 1k strokes, retire it

This is why I hit my balls into the woods, keep em fresh.
On my sim I find that Pro Vs only last until they don’t feel sticky and the clear coat has warn off. At that point it’s typically 150 shots and then they will lose about 25yards off a drive. Wedges increase the wear rate. I get about double from Vice Pro Plus balls that I received for Christmas.

Second, all depends on your game and the conditions. Lots of bunker play, trees, cartpaths will damage a ball quicker and more than playing from grass. The higher your swing speed too the more the damage will impact performance. You’ll likely see a higher ball flight (less spin), more knuckling, and overall less control the longer you play with the same ball.
That course killed me, I can’t believe you hung in with one ball.

When I get to a point that I start thinking about changing my strategy so I don’t lose the ball I retire it.
I literally never have to worry about that because I’ll pull another ball from my bag every 4 holes

447 strokes / 6 rounds = 74.5 average score per round

I’m Leary of the same thing, that’s why I make sure to lose at least two balls per round

Arcadia Bluffs was the last course I played with my father before he passed away. Haven’t been back since. It was awesome to see this post. I have nothing else to add other than that ball is a treasure!
