WSTFA Golf Tournament Pt 2

Bob Larson

From the Ag Information Network, this is today’s Fruit Grower Report. August is right around the corner, so it’s not too early to get registered for the 2025 Washington State Tree Fruit Association Golf Tournament.

WSTFA President Jon DeVaney says it’s a lot of fun and helps fund college scholarships through the Washington Apple Education Foundation …

DeVANEY … “It’s good timing now as school is finishing up for the academic year, to think about those students who will be going off to college next fall. And so many young people in rural areas and connected with agriculture find paying for college very challenging, as everyone does. But if your parents are seasonal workers or if you’re a first-generation college student, that’s particularly challenging.”

And the funds are well managed …

DeVANEY … “As we heard from Jennifer Witherbee at WAEF recently on the podcast, those are a lot of challenges. And so, it’s great to turn a social event for our industry into further benefit for those college students just as they’re about to head off in the fall.”

So, to register for the WSTFA Golf Tournament? …

DeVANEY … “It should be available on our website, W-S-T-F-A or WSTFA dot org … www.wstfa.org

Which is handy for other things as well …

DeVANEY … “Always watch our website and make sure you’re signed up for our tree fruit topics newsletter. As important issues come up and new events are schedule, we send out updates.”

Again, the WSTFA Golf Tournament will be Wednesday, August 27th at the Highlander Golf Course in East Wenatchee
